Protestant, Rosicrucian) This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 105th Street & Ocean, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of September, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [311].

Time of Reading … St., 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va. (Body & enquiring mind - questions regarding all associations, and Life as a whole)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [311] - this we have had before. Ready for questions.

2. (Q) Am I visualizing and concentrating on the correct goal for me to attempt to reach and am I doing it properly? (A) The visualizing of any desire as may be held by an individual WILL come to pass, with the individual ACTING in the manner as the desire is held. The manners in which this entity is going about the visualizations are well. We would not alter them save in that these be not forced upon anyone that has not had some vision of his own - see?

3. (Q) Have conditions changed so you can tell me when I will leave the employ of the … Railroad? (A) There are many conditions that have been set in motion that with their culmination would MAKE same POSSIBLE, so that more of the efforts of the body-consciousness, the body-MIND, might be GIVEN in the directions as are sought and desired by the body. As to when, or how soon, these will be put in the position as to ENABLE the body to carry ON in that as is also desired in the MATERIAL way - this APPEARS as if in nine to eleven months. These will depend upon the activities and the response of other individuals - and how oft does MAN change his mind! In the affairs of individuals there must be those influences as would make possible their vision of THEIR OWN development. As has been given, this entity, this body-mind, ABLE is he to INFLUENCE individuals. Hence in the desire, IN the visions, in the visualizing of the desires of the body, let these be in accord with that as would BE a development for individuals that would make POSSIBLE such change, such alterations, in THEIR affairs, in this BODY’S affairs, and we will see same come about in the next nine months.

4. (Q) Why was there only one response to the recent letter sent out [from N.Y. by E. W. Zentgraf, Chm. of A.R.E. Board] inviting certain people to join the organization? (A) This may be classed in three groups:

Some - the financial stress in their particular interest such as prohibited their response as they desired in the present, NOT lack of interest, nor intent, on their part.

Another group - there was that builded by the letter of the WONDERMENT at a change, and of the interests of other groups in that which had been started in OTHER directions; wait, and WAITING, for clarification.

Another, or the last group may be classed as - those that feel, HAVE felt, that rather the personal explanation from sources for whom, OF whom, the work is being established is needed, for the verification of the desire of such one [Edgar Cayce], for their interest TO be such as to MAKE contributions.

As has been given, RATHER had there been first the appointing of those that would officially represent association in various portions OF the country - then when their acceptance, without their contributing ANY - or asking for contributing any - then seek through THEM for their giving, or seeking those who through THEIR opinion might be aided through the channels, would INCREASE the response manifold.

Better STILL, begin with those in hand, IN the immediate vicinity and surroundings, and NOTIFY those that are sought as representatives TO the effect that such and such a group, or so many, have already BECOME contributors in whatever amount it might be, such and such were representatives in their respective portions or vicinity and were aiding in increasing interest and the aid that might be received in the various portions. THIS is a FORMULATIVE, COOPERATIVE way and manner, rather than seeking without foreknowledge - by many - of an ALTERED position of the many or few; for thoughts ARE deeds, and as their currents run through the various spheres of activities in the lives of individuals so do they respond IN the light of their OWN view of THAT desired or needed. This is true whether in SPIRITUAL affairs, MENTAL conditions, or material problems.

5. (Q) Who is giving this information? (A) That same that stood in the position for the entity as a guide, and an aide, and that one who may be termed the guardian of this entity’s activities - Demetrius.

6. (Q) Will you give an explanation of why A. C. PRESTON [Mgr. of A.R.E.] was taken ill at the time, in the surroundings and under such circumstances? [In N.Y. while trying to raise funds for A.R.E.]

(A) “Are ye able to drink of the cup necessary to prepare thine self for the managing of, conducting, such interests, and directing the minds to such forces?” was asked, and the cup MUST be taken! As to whether ye be able to drink, that - as was given - ye WILL drink of same; “as to sit on my right hand or my left is not mine to give,” but when ye choose - as was given, “There is set before thee this day - choose THOU.” THOU hast chosen! He that endureth unto the end shall wear the crown, shall be called the faithful, shall sit in the seat OF the mighty!

7. (Q) What caused the failure in the effort of those searching for the TREASURE at KELLY’S FORD? [See [3812] series.] (A) UNCOOPERATION. This HAS been given.

8. (Q) How long before Peter and Paul and others will be brought into the work to assist and carry on, and will they be in the flesh or in the spiritual world? (A) In the MENTAL world Paul has entered, in Paul. [See 900-454, Par. 19-A, 20-A on 10/5/29.] In the flesh Peter will ENTER when there IS the need, and when there has been prepared the way that this may be CARRIED on. [See 137-123, Par. 17-A—20-A on 7/28/29.] [See 311-6, Par. R3.]

9. (Q) Will you give the name of someone who is fitted and who will be willing to set up and direct a system of lectures and study to be used by members of the Association for Research & Enlightenment for their advancement along the path? (A) There has been chosen one as a head for that of the distribution of data. Why seek farther, if that is used!

10. (Q) Was I ever connected with [943] in any of my past lives, if so which ones and what relationship? (A) Particularly that as influences in the present is from the Egyptian association, and one the messenger - as the other the aide to same.

11. (Q) What is Demetrius at present? (A) The body’s guardian angel. As he stood and reasoned with Paul, again as he stood as the AIDE to Paul IN the spirit world, THIS ENTITY in attune WITH that AS WAS given by THIS entity as the messenger in Egypt - for Demetrius THERE, AGAIN, the brother and the aide in the flesh. [See 311-1, time of Ra-Ta in Egypt. See 2897-4 re Demetrius.]

12. (Q) Is the body [Edgar Cayce] properly polarized for this reading? (A) Proper.

13. (Q) Is Rudolf Steiner’s “Atlantis & Lemuris,” and his “Theosophy” true and correct in general? (A) In a TREND; not as in toto - but a VISION OF an entity as reading record OF that as happened in space and time, and GIVEN IN response TO those seeking for their OWN understanding of inclinations with THEIR own experience.

14. (Q) Will you give me a definite plan by which I can raise money to take care of the present needs of the [A.R.E.] organization and carry on the work? (A) As has been outlined oft, each department or phase must furnish its own quota of support. Through that channel as has been outlined in the present offers the most feasible, the most plausible way IN the present. That there are MANY speculative ways and manners must be apparent to all. Are these best, as has been indicated by that as has happened in the experience of many so affiliating or associating themselves? Has it been true?

R3. 10/11/73 Mrs. George E. (Mary) Richardson wrote GD:

“I’m sending you one more of Starr Daily’s books to be put away in the [E.C.F.-A.R.E.] archives for the New Age, - with his others, please. This one is a copy (now out of print) of his original ‘This Is the Life’…

“You undoubtedly know he had been the great St. Paul (and other greats through the ages before and since)… [See 311-6, Par. 8-A and notes.]

“Will you please check to see if the YOU CAN book has the jacket with his (young) photo. If not I’ll send mine, as the New Age will wish to know what this 20th Century Apostle of Love (as Norman Elliott [Glenn Clark’s son-in-law] refers to him) looked like.”

R4. 11/14/73 GD’s note: Starr Daily was born in Feb. 1893 and died on Easter Sunday in 1973, at 80 yrs. of age. He and Edgar Cayce never met, yet in reading 1152-11 the work of Glenn Clark (of Camps Farthest Out) was referred to as being akin to A.R.E. in being one of those efforts “closest to the needs of the people in the present”. Starr Daily was very active with Glenn Clark in the Camps Farthest Out, and outlived Glenn Clark by several years. We later (Hugh Lynn and I and many others of A.R.E.) knew both of them well and attended many of their meetings; they even visited A.R.E. in Virginia Beach. Edgar Cayce did meet Glenn Clark once and attended one of his healing group sessions in Norfolk. Mary Richardson, a long time A.R.E. member, has made a point of keeping all of Starr Daily’s books in the A.R.E. Library.

In Sept. 1951 I attended Camps Farthest Out at Camp Kanuga, Hendersonville, N.C., and met for the first time Glenn Clark, Starr Daily, Dr. John Gaynor Banks and many others who were leaders in the movement. All three of these mentioned later visited A.R.E. and lectured in Virginia Beach under the auspices of the Interdenominational Bible Group led by Dr. Mina Kerr.

In the years to come many of A.R.E. leaders were to take part in Camps Farthest Out by spending their vacations there,

• Hugh Lynn Cayce, Everett Irion and Robert Adriance with their families. Robert A. Adriance became one of the trustees of Koinonia Foundation, Baltimore, MD., which had been spearheaded by Glenn Clark, Starr Daily and Dr. Frank C. Laubach, with many others.

An A.R.E. member, Mrs. Irma Winter, after attending a Camps Farthest Out meeting, wrote GD on 2/12/54:

“One CFO leader, after relating some unusual experiences, was told by Glenn Clark, ‘Ask Hugh Lynn Cayce, he knows more about that than I do.’ And that from Glenn Clark was something!” [See Edgar Cayce Foundation SOURCE FILE Key #1152 on Camps Farthest Out, Koinonia Foundation and other similar purposed organizations. R5. 2/22/81 GD’s note: Mrs. Geo. E. (Mary) Richardson told me today on the phone, in talking about Starr Daily, Glenn Clark, etc., that there are still fifty Camps Farthest Out in this country and some abroad.
