Protestant) This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of August, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Prof. [317].

Time of Reading P.O. Box 185, 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Virginia Beach, Va. (Body and enquiring mind - questions regarding body and the Virginia Beach School for Boys.)

1. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [317]. Also those conditions as related to the body in reference to school for boys. These we have had before. Ready for questions.

2. (Q) Which is the better field for my school, Virginia or North Carolina? (A) Virginia.

3. (Q) Will there be sufficient enrollment to meet this year’s expenses? (A) There will - and through other sources this may be aided.

4. (Q) Shall I spend more time and money in going round to see possible patrons or would it be better to advertise in the papers? (A) Advertise in paper mediumly. Word of mouth is more effective.

5. (Q) Would it be worth while for me to make a trip into the valley of Virginia for the purpose of getting boys? (A) Would be well.

6. (Q) What can I do to further the work of the school so as to make it of greater service? (A) Tie with those who are in the position, financially and otherwise, to aid in the purport as is being set forth.

7. (Q) Is the American Schools Association of Chicago and New York a dependable organization? (A) Dependable to a certain extent. In consideration of such organization and identification and association with same, these at times are of the nature that they overshadow the purpose of an institution such as is being contemplated here in Virginia Beach, but such associations may be made with those in these same places that are more INDIVIDUAL in their character - which would be most helpful, and would enable the body [317] to succeed during the first one, two years, NECESSARY for the footing needed. Such an one as would be found in those who would associate self - those whom the body has spoken with, with those who may be interested through these same ones.

8. (Q) Who are those that the body should tie up with, as the Forces speak of? (A) Such as in [195], or [165], or Bruner, or Slutz, [Prof. Frank D. Slutz], or such.

9. (Q) Should the body at this time invest in a car costing about $500? (A) Would be WELL. Will be NECESSARY, [if] would some of the suggestions as have been given be followed, and the intimations as will be necessary to come from these. Would be very well.

10. (Q) Any other advice or instruction? (A) Much may be said, but these - followed - will enable the body and the mind to develop to where others may be given that will be of material and mental aid to the body. Go in the manner as has been determined, for the abilities and the effectiveness will be even SURPRISING to the body. We are through with this reading for the present.

“VIRGINIA BEACH SCHOOL FOR BOYS”

We have been assisting this school in its finances, having already sent them 700.00. We find that owing to having fewer boys than expected, and also several rather serious miscalculations on the part of Professor [317], it will require contributions of 4000.00, in addition to that which has been paid in, to carry the school through the year which ends June 1st next. The payments would be required 700.00 at once, and 500.00 on the twentieth of each succeeding month until 4000.00 has been reached. I have carefully checked over the budget of the school and its income, and believe that the above figures are correct. Whether or not we can contribute beyond the 700.00 which is now being forwarded to Professor [317], and which will take care of his immediate obligations, we cannot at this time determine largely owing to the stock market situation. For this reason we are asking Professor [317] to go to other friends of his, whose names have been mentioned to me, and ask them to contribute or lend him the remaining $3300.00 necessary, either all or in part, and that he do so promptly. After he has thoroughly canvassed the matter, securing as much assistance from these friends as possible, we are asking him to let us know how the matter stands, as at that time it is possible we can be helpful in a greater degree.

If we are helpful beyond the point mentioned, we will advise Professor [317] that he will have to incorporate his school, and that the guiding elements in the corporation will have to reside among the trustees of the National Association of Investigators. [Assoc. of Nat’l Investigators, Inc.]

A copy of this memorandum is being sent to all concerned, including Professor [317], so that the matter will be thoroughly understood.

My dear Miss Davis:

As I look back over the last year and realize all the Association has done for me, I most certainly want to continue my membership, as you suggest in your recent letter. If, however, by doing so I am keeping another from being helped, it might seem best for me to make room for them. If by renewing my membership, I am not standing in the way of anyone I shall be glad to do so and will mail my check soon after hearing from you.

Mr. Cayce and the Association and the hospital have certainly borne out the spirit of the whole movement and Mrs. [267] and I are deeply grateful for all the help we have received.

“Replying to yours of the 12th, I appreciate the bigheartedness in you, in desiring to give the other fellow an opportunity. However, our membership is not so arranged as yet that we do not feel that those who have been members should have the first choice TO the membership, if they so desire - and, as it is ONLY the members who may receive the information or assistance through the hospital, I am sure you DO NOT want to allow this to lapse out. We will be glad, then, to have your renewed membership, if you are still of the same opinion.

R7. 9/1/30 Prof. [317] and his wife, Mrs. [267], referred a father to EC for obtaining Physical Rdg. 3998-1 on his 15 yr. old son.

R8. 3/14/31 Prof. [317]‘s ltr.: “Mrs. [267] and I have received your communication [as per sample under 1739-8, Par. R2 in re closing of Cayce Hospital, forthcoming meeting to discuss future of EC work, etc.] and it seems almost a coincidence, for we were talking about your work and the hospital a few days ago and hoped that something might be done. You may be sure we will both attend the meeting on March 28th, and will come prepared to do all we can in every way.”
