This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [3358], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [3280] and THERE IS A RIVER.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

3. We have the body here, [3358].

4. Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions that prevent the better physical functioning of the body. These have to do primarily with two causes; first a disturbance in the liver and gall duct area and then in the colon itself - in the ascending colon.

5. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body.

6. The blood supply indicates the form of toxic conditions arising, while the nerve pressures that are produced indicate the sources and the effects - as in the headaches, the irregularity at times with the kidneys, the blemishes on the skin or through the superficial circulation, with the various spots or blotches that occur on face, hands, arms, limbs at times. These indicate how the disturbance is affecting the coordination between superficial and deeper circulation, the lack of the proper coordination of the eliminating channels of the body. Hence the effect produced in the respiratory system and the perspiratory system, the flushes that occur at times.

7. The blood, then, carries the indication of toxic conditions, while nerve pressures are indicated especially in the nerve plexus radiating from the 9th dorsal, 6th and 7th dorsal and 3rd cervical - as those areas disturbed by the pressure in the abdominal area, the liver, and the circulation between the liver and kidneys.

8. In the functioning of organs themselves there is produced first in the brain forces very bad reflexes or headaches that occur at times, when apparently there has been no unusual activity or disturbance in the assimilating or digestive system. These may arise from a little mental anxiety or undue excitement, or the overtaxing of the body in any physical or mental exercise. All of these are effects arising from the sources indicated.

9. These as we find may be materially aided and entirely corrected if sufficient periods are taken for the proper administrations in sufficient amounts to remove the causes of these disturbances through the body.

10. First, then, we would begin with thorough hydrotherapy treatments. Each week this should include a light cabinet sweat, followed with a Fume Bath of witchhazel - using a teaspoonful of witchhazel to the pint of water that would be allowed to boil in the cabinet, as in a croup cup or the like, or an open container, so that the steam from the witchhazel would settle over various portions of the body. Then have a thorough rubdown.

11. The second week, before beginning the cabinet sweat, have a high colonic irrigation, scientifically given; not merely with a colon tube but sufficient to entirely - not all at once but gradually - eliminate those tendencies for pockets in the ascending colon and close to the caecum area. These areas should be cleansed of all the disturbing forces as accumulations there.

12. It would be all the better if the body would be rubbed down, after the hydrotherapy treatments, with Pine Oil mixed with wintergreen. This would be most helpful.

13. It would be preferable to have the Fume Bath.

14. After two or three of the colonics, ten days to two weeks apart, and the hydrotherapy once each week during that period, we would also begin having osteopathic corrections twice each week, with special reference to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cervical, 3rd and 4th dorsal, 9th dorsal and throughout the sacral area. Leave off the hydrotherapy during this period, having these about twice each week until six of the corrections have been made.

15. Then leave these off a week, and commence all over again.

16. By the end of the 3rd series, if these are done properly we should find much better conditions, alleviation from the headaches, the blotches, the nausea that comes at times, the extreme nervousness at times, and also the eyes will be much improved, as well as the hearing and the sense of taste. All of these will be improved.

19. (Q) What can you tell me about my feet and can anything be suggested to relieve the pain and fatigue? (A) As the poisons are removed, and the massages are given, commencing with the feet massage upward towards the body, and we should find a great deal of change and help in these directions for the body.

20. (Q) Why do I constantly catch cold and how can this be prevented? (A) By the use of the suggestions indicated we will keep the system in much nearer balance of alkalinity without disturbing the chemical forces of the digestive area and will relieve those tendencies for cold as well as a great deal of the trouble with the assimilating system.

R1. 12/22/43 Letter from [3358] to EC: “Please accept my apology for delaying to notify you sooner that I had received your reading. I wish to thank you very much for it. The symptoms were so correct that there can be no doubt that my body was examined.

“Dr. John Kilb, an osteopath who has the necessary equipment and is very interested in your work, is giving me the treatment.

“In THERE IS A RIVER Ipsab was mentioned as a cure for pyorrhea. My sister-in-law’s gums are badly infected so would you be so kind as to send me the manufacturer’s name and address as I have not found it in any of the local drug stores.

“Thank you very much for your help. I wish to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”

R2. 4/13/44 Questions: 1. Much improvement in colour of complexion and elimination appear to have taken place, but so far there has been no improvement in the headaches. What is reason for this? 2. Have the spinal adjustments been properly carried out? If not, is this reason for continued headaches. Please suggest where adjustments are still required. 3. Are these headaches of KARMIC ORIGIN? 4. Is condition of feet improved? Much pain is still felt and progress is not apparent.”

I have suffered with a most painful and perplexing ailment for 12 yrs. and have consulted many doctors and specialists, both in New Orleans and New York, in vain and at great expense, but have secured neither diagnosis nor relief. I am writing to beg you to put my name down on your list for a reading as soon as can possibly be done.”
