This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of August, 1930, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [349].

Time of Reading 3:45 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will have before you the entity [349], present in this room. You will answer all questions which I will ask you relative to the entity in all phases of her life.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity, [349] now, and those conditions and relations regarding the phases of life. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) Would experience in a dramatic career be for the best development of this entity? (A) In considering same, there must be many conditions taken under consideration by the entity other than self. In the development for SELF, this would be a channel for development, and with the experience and environs this would make for a development and for success that would be rather phenomenal, and well - yet there are those conditions the entity must consider before such an undertaking is decided upon. Not that the entity should COMBAT those conditions, yet the entity will find that the course - as it may be termed - the training as may be true - the conditions surrounding same will be gratifying, helpful, and make for efficiency in more ways than one - but don’t try to HURRY the decision.

4. (Q) Is it time for the entity to attempt a dramatic career or would it be best to devote another year of study at night, as she did last year? (A) Just as has been outlined. Another year, or eighteen months.

5. (Q) Will Dr. Reiss of the Aetna Life Insurance Co. of New York be able to arrange a satisfactory interview for her on her return to New York with some friends who can and will help her? (A) This may be made satisfactory, but do not HASTEN change, as yet.

6. (Q) Would it be best to attempt to obtain a connection with a stock company and go on the road? (A) These are not in keeping with that as has been given. This, as we find, is best - to study much in the same manner as has been done, that there may be the broader experience, the brighter outlook, the more development in MANY ways, and the propitious time or season.

7. (Q) What particular phases of dramatic work should she study and needs more practice in? (A) This should continue - for at least the next three to five months - of the general. Then, as will be seen, that as partakes more of the emotional will be the better and broader field.

8. (Q) What particular qualities needed in a stage career should the body seek to further develop? (A) That as is of the nature as makes for the understanding of relationships as to valuations in the approach to that “very dear public”. That is, as is seen, one that may oft be too easily judged as a “good break”, but is rather that ability to judge immediately a situation and attune self to fill that needed for that occasion, see? THAT makes for “good breaks”. THAT makes for opportunities. THAT makes for personality - but the INDIVIDUALITY must be behind every personality that WOULD succeed.

9. (Q) Are there any particular phases of the entity’s personality that would in any way be a hindrance to a stage career and if so, how can they be overcome? (A) In the development of that as has been given, these will be overcome. Let’s say DO things, rather than saying DON’T do this, that, or the other! Know WHAT to do, and do it; then you won’t do the wrong thing!

10. (Q) Is the entity correct in her impression of conditions as being unfavorable to her advancement and development with regard to her position as secretary to [257]? (A) This has been a WONDERFUL school of experience, and may be used as a stepping stone for success as will be made in other fields. Remember, that most failures in a dramatic career have been made through the use of time not in active duty. In the career as an executive, in the position as has been filled, this has given the entity the personality and advantage - as to how to use and not abuse, time.

11. (Q) How much longer does the entity need this training in in this office? (A) Until it’s ready to take up other work!

12. (Q) In what specific way may the entity be able to bring about such changes with regard to her business relationship with Mr. [257] to make for a more harmonious association for such a time as she continues working for him? (A) Be more in that of a LOVING INDIFFERENCE as to relationships and as to conditions as surround; knowing that to be CONTENT in whatsoever position, circumstance OR condition, is to be in the greatest position of making use of, and finding enjoyment in, that being accomplished. NOT SATISFIED, else there would be no desire for change, for advancement, for different environ or different surroundings, but rather use every phase of association - in a social, business relation - as that as may be used as stepping stones in the CAREER as is DESIRED TO BE filled. So make self so useful to each and every official of every department, that self contacts through the present connection and association, as that each will feel indebted TO the entity, and in that manner will there be builded such a BULWARK of defense that there will be little time for the petty things that come from little neglects, or little overlooks, or little differences as may come; and knowing that these are to be used as those of stepping stones for self; not as a selfish manner, but he that would succeed must make a success of the other fellow.

13. (Q) Is it necessary for her best development that her desire for a dramatic career be satisfied before considering marriage? (A) As has been given, the career may be had - and it will satisfy, IF it is said as satisfaction. Make rather contentment, and not satisfaction.

14. (Q) Would the entity be able to find happiness in marriage without first having the experience of a stage career? (A) There would be something still unsatisfied!

15. (Q) What future would there be if the body were to remain in her present position? (A) Let’s don’t consider it, if we would desire to pass on and use that in hand as development for self!

16. (Q) Does she expect too much consideration from Mr. [257] in return for her efforts? (A) At times.

17. (Q) Has her work become of less value to Mr. [257] since Mrs. [189] became his assistant? (A) No.

18. (Q) How can she overcome her periods of dissatisfaction and anger in connection with her business association with Mr. [257]? (A) As has been outlined. In making self so necessary to those contacts made, in LITTLE things said, done, words spoken, and in such a manner you find yourself so busy you won’t have TIME to get mad!

19. (Q) Is Bertha Kunz Baker of New York City, with whom the entity is now studying voice culture, the proper teacher to bring out the best qualities in the voice with regard to acting? (A) This, as we find, is well - and a lead TO those who WILL bring out the best, as developments and as the study proceeds.

20. (Q) How can the entity find them? (A) Use that you have, and then you’ll find the others when they are needed!
