This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of August, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [370], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, conditions in the present are quite different from those as we have had before; though they may be said to be an outcome of those disturbances indicated, with only partial administrations made for the corrective influences as were indicated.

4. Still there is a great deal of the toxic poisons in the the system, producing irregularity in the metabolism, in the respiratory activity, in the heart’s action.

5. First, as we find, there should be eliminated a good deal of the toxic poisons with the use of the high colonic irrigations; and gentle manipulations osteopathically administered to reduce the blood pressure; using some GOOD eliminant to keep up the eliminations or to reduce the toxic forces through the system - that of a senna base being preferable.

6. Doing these, as we find, would bring the better conditions for this body of [370].

7. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) In what way have I been careless, or what is causing the palpitation of my heart? (A) Not keeping up the eliminations properly, nor the cleansing of the colon sufficiently as it should.

9. (Q) What causes slight pain around my heart? [Angina pectoris?] (A) The pressures produced from the general nervous taxation, as from toxic forces as well as that indicated in the blood supply itself.

Doing these, we will find there will be a much better condition in this respect.

10. (Q) Why the waking at times in the night, when sleep is impossible and my heart beats? (A) This as we find is the warning, and the pressure, causing this form of insomnia.

The removal of the poisons and the use of colonics will correct this. Not just enemas, you see, - these had best be high colonics and given by one well versed in such - for the first few, at least, until the mucous has been removed from the colon.

R1. 10/27/40 “My health rdg. seemed to rebuke me for neglect. However I went ahead to chiropractor [D.C] (the best in B’ham). I did learn something about colonics and am getting these and adjustments (on credit). Also treatment on 3 or 4 vibrating machines including ultra-violet rays. I hope to make a convert or see one made out of this chiropractor about the work you are doing. There is plenty for me to do it I can get this body and mind to last through the effort.”

R2. 3/11/41 “My heart has been troubling me lately. I couldn’t sleep night before last for the pumping and beating. My last rdg. didn’t say anything about it and the chiropractor who treated me last summer didn’t think much of it - seemed to think I was in good shape and blood pressure was up only a little. I am going to find out if it is cigarettes by quitting them.”

R3. 3/14/41 EC advised him to have some more colonics.

R4. 3/30/41 “I took the colonics for some 6 wks. and consequently learned more about them as was indicated in the rdg. Dr. A. H. Kesslar [D.C.] seemed to see some other things that were more important than the colonics and he and I had some clashes in re the relative value of his opinion and that of the rdg. We separated, however, on better terms. I think he is doing a lot of good with his vibrating machines and adjustments, and I told him so, but there are some things - that are transmitted in the rdgs. - that he doesn’t know.

“The things that were bothering me when I was getting through with him are now bothering me again. I am returning to my home treatment just now with some improvement in methods but sometimes I fail to get the reaction or relief and then sometimes I do. I am also returning to the back treatment with olive oil, tincture of myrrh and benzoin. I realize I have a different situation to handle to that I had in 1936 [370-4] and that I took my good feelings by following the treatment at that time as conclusive, or that I was not persistent enough and now the recurrence of effect on my heart is in a different way and perhaps more difficult. I believe my trouble is more pronounced with the liver, kidneys and colon and the toxic poison reaction on the heart. I intend to see Dr. Kesslar again and see if I can get some further help from him.”

R5. 5/13/41 “This heart action is more menacing… I could not postpone consulting an M.D. about my heart and have been under his tr. for 3 wks. It is the first time in quite a while I have taken medicine under medical direction. This is an M.D. above the ordinary, and a hard worker with plenty to do. Has more good sense along with his science than some, and I didn’t know there was medicine as high priced as he uses. My blood pressure was above normal, as it has been for some time (every time it has been examined since ‘36 and the rdg. 370-4), but he is bringing it down along with the heartbeat count. I don’t know his plan after this but hope he lets it get back up so I won’t feel so lazy and sluggish.”

R6. 6/4/41 Letter from Mr. [370] to EC:

My Dear Mr. Cayce;

“I wish I could write like I would like to and say what I was thinking while awake in the middle of last night when my heart wouldn’t be quiet enough for me to sleep. One thing I could do is make a little review of my experience since I received my first PHYSICAL reading in Oct. 1936 [370-4]. Many times I had talked about the wonders and certainties of cures (unusual ones) that I knew about with never a thought that I would need this unusual attention in a physical reading. But the necessity came to me as I was recovering from the severe pain of the passing of a kidney stone. The M.D. had performed his duties the second time in 2 days and I had told him that I couldn’t stand the severity of these attacks every day & inquired if he couldn’t do something to relieve them or stop it. His remark was that if he knew how to stop such attacks he would do nothing else, but he nor no one else knew how to stop the kidney stones attack. Then I knew this was my opportunity to apply for a reading, which I did. I followed these instructions for a long time and was encouraged not only by the immediate rejuvenating effect on my general physical condition & feeling but by the check reading [370-5] I received home 90 days afterwards. I have never had any recurrence of kidney stone trouble since.

“I did not know about high blood pressure until the Doctor told me I had it high at the time I was having these attacks & I soon realized that I had had it for sometime by the lack of energy & other symptoms. All these disappeared under the treatment in the reading.

“I had not read these for some time, but did so last week. The warnings in them to me now are very true indeed. At the time I was recovering so materially I know now I grew careless in a number of ways and am now paying dearly for such carelessness or pride. Some six months ago I had a check reading [370-7] that told me so also - that I hadn’t done the colonics properly for specific item. But the closing of this last reading is the most disheartening of all, for it said after very brief statement that “We are through with this reading”. I have been afraid of the fatality of this statement. And another time in a reading the information the statement was made that “Nothing is impossible to God” after indicating the seriousness of my situation.

“Even the dream [See 370-1 Reports] you had about you & Kesslar coming to see me shows me very careless & headstrong in the failure to invite you in to my fine house.

“The truth of all this bears in on me very strongly now together with all my economic failures & disappointments

• some positions that might be offered me now I could not perform because of my physical condition. I have been - thick headed and hard headed [See 370-3] & too vindictive about supposed wrongs. True it is that only the Lord can save me. The M.D. is not relieving my physical condition. The chiropractor that I went to to learn about proper colonics some 6 months ago did not do it - he thinks he knows more than you do about what to do or how to do it. My wife [1344] doesn’t believe in the information I get from you - that may be my fault also.

“You see I am a hard case and now I know it. I remember what Paul said once that portrays some of my actions - “that when I would do well, evil is present with me” that the “flesh is weak.” Yes and how on the night of betrayal the 3 best disciples fell asleep when Christ was in agonizing prayer, and his promptings failed to keep them awake.

“Everything is very much more serious to me now than ever before - and I know what a hard case I have been - I wanted to do so much for the work you are doing & I have done nothing. Even the oil wells you helped me on made 3 starts [See 370-1, Par. R13] and each of them failed - I don’t know when they will begin again or what interest I will have one of the promoters has married a rich widow from Gadsden & is honeymooning I understand in Texas - the other has a wife in serious condition.

“I took the two physical readings down to the Doctor, who said he wanted to see them but he was too busy. I am going to try again and see if I can get him to read some REAL truth.

“I guess I have wanted too much handed me on a silver platter

• guaranteed to me & without any effort on my part. Yes you are & have been the best friend I have on this earth - this is the way, through the work there to know God - you know the way - the only thing I can call on now is the mercy of the Lord.

“Yes there is truth in the readings I had - much truth -

“If I make any more progress I will write you.
