This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of March, 1929, in accordance with request made by Mr. A. C. Preston.

Brandywine Ford, Time of Reading near 5:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C.

1. GC: You will have before you the information given through these sources some years ago regarding the money lost by the Federal Troops near Washington, D.C. [Culpepper County, Va.]. You will give us any information regarding this at the present time, as to how and where this may be located.

2. EC: Near Brandywine Ford - yes, near Brandywine Ford. On the North banks of this Ford there is, and was, a large gully that emptied into the Brandywine. In this region and this district were the troops of the Federal forces located when the Confederate or Rebel forces came into the camp in the early morning of September 24, 1863, see? September 24, 1863. There was just a large washing tub full of twenty dollar gold pieces - now how many is that? These may be located in this hill as still lies between this large log here, just above the Ford and the gully. It was buried, not deep, but has gotten much deeper in the years as they have passed. We are through.

Hope you will be able to get a little more information on the treasure near Washington sometime next few days. I will be here for four or five days more and will have time to run over to location and see what I can find.

Still on the job and getting nearer and nearer my goal. We will leave here about April 10th to make an investigation of South Florida and if oil finding machines check up ok we will be off as parties here agree to buy and drill around three hundred thousand acres.

Did you ever get any more information on Brandywine Treasure.

My dear Mr. Preston:-

Yours of the 15th, also of the 30th, have been on my desk and I have tried my hardest to find a time to get this information in without making a special reading - but so far I haven’t been able to do it. First we have had one of the presidents of the Association here a week - was here at the time I received your first letter. Then the first vice-president is here now and will be possibly two or three weeks, and that means work every minute that there isn’t someone else’s appointment on hand - and I don’t know how to work it in. I certainly would like to be of help if possible.

I’m certainly glad to know that things are working out for you and I don’t feel there will be any doubt about the machine indicating there is oil, if it will work like it should - and I’m sure it will.

Let me keep in touch with you and as soon as I CAN have the opportunity to get on to this, I’ll be glad to do it. I suppose you will also have the finder with you when you go down on the west coast. I trust I will be able to assist you there in some way.

We are keeping mighty busy. A good many people coming in to the hospital. Some have been out of town, and a good many local ones are taking a great deal of interest.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Returned from Florida yesterday and we had wonderful success with the instrument and the information checked with the information we have had for sometime. Dr. More [Dr. H. A. Moore, M.D.] is very much pepped up now and is going to put the proposition across. While there I secured a lease on 95,000 acres covering the structures that we checked with the instrument and the information which you had given [[5741] series, etc.?]. I feel confident that we will be able to start drilling within the next two months. Have been trying to interest the group here to furnish me with enough capital so I can tie up about three or four million acres along the west coast of Florida before we drill the oil in. Believe that they will do it and I will be there to see you on my way South and probably will have two or three of the group with me.

Feel that it will not be long now until we will have the oil and money to start on the program as has been outlined for us. The finding of oil in Florida is a very small part of the program that is ahead of us.

Will keep you advised as to progress we are making and if you come to New York please send me a wire collect and would like for you to meet some of our associates.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Am here on the job - trying to locate Mr. Rongle [Cecil Ringle?] now. Hope to push this through to some definite action as soon as possible.

Regarding mother - we discussed while there - was in Wash. and advice obtained from friend in the department was to effect to not stir them up let me go as far as they like as it was awful hard to get any kind of action from Government on cases like that except where they are of a commercial motive. However, we will see what happens.

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia Dear Mr. Cayce:

Enjoyed the short visit there with you all and Dr. Snyder is well pleased with the information that he received and he is fully convinced of the work you are doing and he is willing to help me carry out a few of the plans that I have had for sometime. You remember a reading given me last April sometime concerning a treasure buried near Washington, D.C. I mentioned this to Dr. Snyder and he is willing to go with me there and see what we can do to find it. I thought it best to make an investigation in the War Department and see what information we could get there with reference to the skirmish described in the reading and then go on to the location. A party in New York has an instrument for locating buried gold and metals and I think that it would help us to find the exact spot. Dr. Snyder is certainly sold on your work and on the information and he is the only man that I have come in contact with that feels the same way as I do about your work and about the information. He says that he believes it 100% and is willing to help me carry out the things as has been suggested to me many times.

If we should find the treasure, we will abide by what the information says to do with it and will be directed at all times in the future development of other matters pertaining to the work and information.

If you have additional information on this treasure location

• as I notice in the reading that it says that information has been given before on this treasure - would appreciate it if you will forward same to me as quickly as possible as we may leave for Washington about Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

I feel confident that we will work out something on the information as I have someone now that feels as I do about everything and is willing to work along that line.

Will keep an eye open for a Doctor as you suggested and will advise you if I find someone that will fill the requirements.

Mr. A. C. Preston, Scott Hotel, Ashland, Kentucky Dear Mr. Preston:-

I have yours of the 21st. We were all glad to have seen [you] again on your hurried visit some days ago. We are glad to have your letter and to know that you have a convert and ally in Dr. Snyder. This is most pleasing to you, I am sure, and of course we are pleased with anything that would be of help to you.

Now, regarding the information about the location of the treasure near Washington - I think this was gotten some years ago by Mr. Mohr for some people from Maryland, while we were in Birmingham, and Mr. Mohr took that as his own - we have no copy of it. I’m sure you will find some record of this treasure in the war records, or of this amount being lost. This is the story as I remember it: There was some thirty or forty thousand dollars in silver sent to the Federal army as a payroll. Just before it was paid out they were attacked by the Confederates, driven out of their position, and the money was buried by the quartermaster or paymaster department, and just where - or just how - seems to be the question. All of these seem to have either been captured, killed or lost in some way and the records lost as to the exact location of this. This is one, I think, of the several uncleared records of the government, and you may be able to obtain information in the war department about this. This happened, I think in the year ‘62 or ‘63. That is as much as I can tell you of it.

Dear Mr. Cayce;

Stopped at Tallahassee, Florida, and the records there are very clear as to the grant of the bonus land and none of it has been taken up according to the records - believe that we have a mighty good chance to clean up on the proposition but will take time to get it in proper shape. I am going to Tampa Wednesday to get copies of all records that the Administrator of the Loomis estate has and they will show the transaction in detail. As soon as I get this - will be ready to file our claims.

If you can send me the information concerning the location of the buried treasure near Washington, I believe that I can get sufficient money to make a good search for it. The buried treasure instrument that I was telling you about will be in New York this next week and we will be able to use it for this purpose.

Will keep you advised as to the outcome and in the meantime would like to hear from you.

Dear Mr. Preston:-

Have yours of the 17th - very glad to hear from you and to know that you found the records regarding the grant of bonus land. Certainly hope you have no trouble in getting these worked out in a way satisfactory to yourself and your associates.

I don’t know as I can even send you the information concerning the treasure buried near Washington. I will look it up and try to find it if possible, but you know it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack until we get our work correlated in such a way we will know how to put our fingers on it. That’s why we need our data-statistician so very badly. We hope to get to work on this sometime in the near future, and then we will be able to answer a great many questions we can’t right now.

I’m glad to report that our first patient [Mr. [470]] went home yesterday feeling the best, as he said, he ever did in his life, that he could remember.

After the first couple of days he put on about a pound and a half each day - went home feeling fine.
