This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of May, 1931, in accordance with request made by those present.

Time of Reading 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time.

1. GC: You will have before you the entities, bodies and enquiring minds of A. C. Preston, Gray Salter and Hugh Lynn Cayce, present in this room; also the circumstances and conditions surrounding these in their relation to the work and each one’s preparation to be used in service to carry forward this work. These have this hour offered prayer to these forces that they will be acceptable to carry out and establish the ideals, with plans and ideas to promote same, as have been outlined. If they are acceptable in thy sight, they are ready to continue the search for the treasure buried near Kelly’s Ford, Culpepper Co., Va., and if it is the will of these forces please give definite information and instruction to these individuals as to how the treasure may be recovered, so the funds may be available to begin the work as these forces direct. Please answer questions as we ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the bodies, the entities, the associations, and their reactions to those various experiences of the entities as their relationships as one to another, their reactions, their activities, as related to forces as may manifest in this material plane.

3. In their acceptance of that as may be required of each in carrying forward that as may be given in the various ways, varied manners of directing each in any of the chosen ways or manners in which each may be directed, MUCH is to be required of each in service, in the presentation and the presenting of the various channels of service as each may render in their own respective spheres, and the abilities as builded by each as in these directions.

4. In, then, the following out of information as has been given, or may be given as respecting seeking out of buried treasure, or hidden treasure that have long since lost their usefulness to mankind, in the very fact of its being taken from or out of usefulness to mankind - this, to be sure, then, gives an added responsibility to each, for having presented themselves; for, as the desires, as the wishes are made in accord with the divine sources through which information may come, added to that same as may be had through the mechanical forces as act with or in opposition to those directions - these have been well chosen, as has been outlined. In seeking, then, those as have been sought, much should be taken into consideration as respecting the results so far as have been attained; for these, as we find, have been disappointing to that portion of human experience, in that effort, time, patience, labor, has been expended with nothing other than an URGE - or of sufficient nature to find indications that both the information and indicator are still in accord with that as has first been set forth. Then, in seeking - as has been given, let each - then - do that that SEEMETH right in the way and manner of seeking, or of putting into practical application that as is GAINED by each THROUGH the contacts with the forces, WITH the sources of information as concerns same. So long as the information and the indicator are of ONE accord, make that application as respecting same - for, as we find, the cache is almost wholly intact, as has been indicated. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Should we start this week to carry out the instructions, considering all things? (A) Consider all things; that is, each individual’s duties, liabilities, trusts, and all - and if, as has been given, it seemeth right that each are in the position, in the proper attitude in its relationships to all the duties, to all the conditions, to all the responsibilities, then begin. Each must be their own judge, for - as has been given - “There is set before thee good and evil.” Thou hast chosen the right way and manner of approach. This has been granted thee, that thou hast seen each a vision of the possibilities in the approach that may be gained from MANY sources. Not allowing, then, those things that make for a position of power or might, or main, to overbalance that as is set as a purpose, as a desire - but let the impulse and the desire come from the SPIRITUAL sources, and ever “THY will be done, not mine.”

6. (Q) Any other advice and guidance that will be of help at this time? (A) Keep the way as is set before each in the preparations for the seeking. Forget not all those things, those individuals who have labored with or for a knowledge and understanding. Judge not that ye be not judged, but rather with that measure ye mete it WILL be measured to you again. We are through.

Dr. O. H. Snyder, 612 So. 5th St., Ironton, Ohio

Dear Mr. Snyder:-

Yours of the 6th came while I was in New York. I had expected to be there only a few days but spent a whole week and a day or two over. We had several meetings to get lined up for the organization, and we expect to have the organization meeting on the 6th of June in Virginia Beach. I would like very much for you to be present if possible, for I am sure that your experience - and your interest in this direction - would be a great help to us.

Regarding the discouraging results we have had at Kelly’s Ford, I am enclosing a copy of the reading that was gotten last. I think all are of the opinion that the treasure must be there. Just whether we are going to locate it or not is the question. Just why the variations and the inability to get specific instructions, I do not know. A case, I think, of where we are trying to interpret spiritual things into material things. Sometimes they’ll work and sometimes they won’t.

I’ll be very glad to hear from you, and to have any suggestions that you care to give - but most of all I would like for you to be here for our meeting on the 6th of June.

My Dear Mr. Cayce and Hugh Lynn;-

I hope that you will let me answer both of your letters with this one. I note the time of the meeting and if nothing happens to prevent me I shall be there for your work and the ideals you are working for interest me more than anything in the world. To my way of thinking there could be no greater joy and blessing in the help that each and every one of us can give in the carrying out of the ideals set forth.

I wish to thank you for sending us a copy of the reading on the treasure at Kelly’s Ford. As you know it was a disappointment to me as well as to the rest of you that we did not find it as the last reading you gave indicated we would. I was not disappointed on account of the monetary value but in my own mind had thought this should be a test as to whether the information as given was correct or whether we each individually or as a group were in harmony in the locating and use of the same. This reading which I consider an answer to my thought shows:

“Yet when each are in accord and the purposes, DESIRES and aims, then apparently there should be that complete success, yet each have NOT examined themselves - This DOES NOT alter the conditions as to whether the treasure is here or there, or as to whether there has been a misapplication of the information given”.

I am glad that the word D E S I R E was used in this reading. For what is desired? I think the definition of it is the answer to our question in locating the treasure at Kelly’s Ford.

Desire is but a form of prayer. That prayer which is always answered is a TRUE prayer. Therefore it must be scientific and so must be in accordance to a fixed law. This law is, “AS YOU BELIEVE YOUR PRAYER IS GRANTED and WHAT THINGS SO EVER YOU DESIRE, WHEN YOU PRAY, BELIEVE YOU RECEIVE THEM AND YOU SHALL HAVE THEM.” If we know positively that whatever we have asked for is ours all ready we may know that we are working in accordance with the laws of prayer. If the desire is filled full, then we may know that the law is fulfilled. If the desire is not filled full then we may know that we have asked amiss. We may know that the FAULT is with US and not with GOD. The prayers of Jesus were always true prayers, hence they were always answered.
