1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [3902].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records, written or imposed or impressed upon the skein of time and space, or the Akashic records in God’s book of remembrances, these we find:

4. We would choose from these records that which if applied in the experience will bring a better interpretation of the how and why that there are certain latent and manifested urges in the abilities of the entity in the present, which if applied in a constructive, creative way may bring a better ability of the entity to apply itself in being a channel, a manifestation of those divine influences that are the cause and purpose of the entity’s appearance in the earth in the present.

5. That an individual entity is aware of a physical, mental, soul longing in this material consciousness should in itself be evidence to the individual entity that the first cause, the God principle, the divine consciousness is aware of the entity and has been and is giving an opportunity to the entity for expression in this particular period of experience.

6. For He, thy God, hath need of thee. Thou hast need of Him if ye would be a channel of manifestation of the gift of consciousness at this particular period.

7. We would minimize the faults, we would magnify the virtues. For this is grace, this is mercy that is meted to thee. though ye find at times in thine own consciousness that ye feel far off, know that it is in Him that ye live and move and have thy being, and that His promise has been, “If ye call I will hear and answer speedily.”

8. The conditions, then, are ever conditional. There is much for thee to do. For He hath given thee body, mind and soul. These are as manifestations of thy consciousness of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Thy body is indeed the temple of the living God. Then in thy dealings with thine own body, thine own mind, thine own soul, act as though it were a consciousness. As ye act and as ye speak, and as ye apply, ye will become more and more aware. For as He has given, in patience, in perseverance, ye become aware of thy soul. Are ye in attune, then, with that consciousness? It is up to thee.

9. The spirit is willing. Will ye strengthen thy soul purpose? Will ye attune thy mind? Will ye act in thy body in such measures and manners that ye may know? For He hath promised, “If ye open the door, I will enter and abide with thee - I will walk with thee.” It is up to thee.

10. As urges latent and manifested, many are the manifestations in the consciousness and in the urges of the entity indicating unusual abilities to manifest in a material world. From the urges, from sojourns during the interims we find Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter. No better array might be set, and yet - as in spirit, so in mind - these must be attuned, used, applied. For though there may be purpose, ability, strength, without being used it is nil and of none effect.

11. In Mercury is the high mental ability.

12. We find in Mars the anxiety, wrath, madness, the abilities to do things; but they must be controlled by judgment, by the exercising of an ideal. Ye have a pattern that is set in Him and as given, “As ye would that men would do to you, do ye even so to them.” This applied in every phase indicates an active principle and not merely a tenet to be set on Sabbath days or new moons or at some special occasion when you feel kindly towards one for a lovely deed done.

13. Love thine enemies also. Do good to them that hate you, and this will change and bring the exercising of patience that makes thee aware of thy oneness of purpose with that spirit which may guide you.

14. In Venus we find the consciousness of harmony, the ability to make good out of the voice - a speaking voice; a keen insight, the abilities to discern, and those little things that make up the consciousness, the awareness of good and evil. For it is line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little, not some great deed to be done, some great thing to be performed, but ye grow in grace, in knowledge, in understanding. Ye grow in making thyself a good husband, a good father, a good citizen. Not that ye become one suddenly because you’ve reached a certain age, position or place, because of thy financial or social position. But they are the way, even as He, thy ideal, thy Master is the way, the truth and the light, the word. These ye attain by practice.

15. We find in Jupiter the universal consciousness, the awareness as to the usage of things. Hence the entity’s ability pertaining to watchfulness, and especially in Mars and Mercury things having to do with the mechanical or electrical.

16. As we could give, as we shall see from the application of the entity in and through earthly sojourns, the entity should begin now to study electronics. For as the earth and the peoples of same enter Aquarius, the air, we find that the electrical forces, electronics and energies are to be the ruling influences - by the very position of same in the spheres of the system which the earth occupies merely as a space or place in the present.

17. Hence the entity in those awarenesses and consciousnesses should prepare itself. And as ye feed the body that it may supply physical energies, so ye feed the mind and the soul that it, too, may attune and coordinate in building that which thyself, as an entity and as a child of the King may be filling that place He hath given thee to fill. For as ye take the first step, He prepares the way and He will not withhold any good thing from those who love His coming.

18. As there is not the time or ability to set aside certain periods for such training, do take a correspondence course in electronics. And as thy body rests, as thy body takes on understanding and knowledge, it may apply itself in a correspondence course in such a way that, as the changes are wrought by the periods of reconstruction, ye will find thy place in same and ye will grow with thy mind and thy soul, physically.

19. As to the appearances in the earth, we find that these have been quite varied. Not all may be given by any means but these that are a part of the awareness or consciousness of the entity in the present cycle of its experience. And these are at that period that they may be applied. As indicated the mental is to be applied for the development of the material as well as the mental and spiritual self. Keep self from condemnation ever.

20. Before that the entity was in the land of the present nativity when there were those changes being wrought by the rediscovering of principles as applied to light and heat.

21. Then in the name Don Collett (?) about New Haven and Cambridge, the entity applied self in using such for the construction. So may the entity in self in the present use those various elements, as changes are being wrought, for not only heat and light but as the answer to color, tone, voice, and the transportation of every sort or nature.

22. Before that the entity saw those activities in which there was either the compliance with or defiance of natural laws, in the period when the Master walked in the earth.

23. These are still the mysteries to the entity. But natural laws are God’s laws. Everything in the earth is ruled by law. He said “Let there be light,” and there was light - by law.

24. What law? Of the spirit of truth, of light itself moving into activity; thus becoming creative by law.

25. Learn ye then the spiritual law which ye attempted to understand, which ye studied then in the name Hedth.

26. The entity was an associate of Peter and John, eventually becoming a follower when the entity had been converted from the using of same as a material blessing.

27. For the universal blessing is, “As ye would that others should do to you, do you even so to them,” not do others, lest they do thee; not to use brotherly love as something to build other than greater brotherly love or patience.

28. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were the preparations in the Temple of Sacrifice.

29. The entity was among those prepared for using electrical forces for light, heat, sound, transportation.

30. Thus as indicated, through these channels the entity may apply itself as it goes on in its present activity, for those changes that may be wrought in its experience.

31. But live the life for thy son, for thy neighbor, for thy brother, for thy friend, for thy foe. For this must be the consciousness in thee, that this is God’s earth, God’s world, God’s consciousness that must be made manifest among men.

32. Begin in thine own self and with the one next to thee, and that which is not applicable in the life of thy son, of thy wife, of thy brother, ye cannot apply in a universal sense. Begin with self. Find the peace in self and ye will find that ye can bring it to others. For as indicated, “It must needs be that offenses come,” that disturbances arise, but fear not, for thy Ideal has overcome the world. And as ye abide only in Him may ye be at peace with the world.

33. Ready for questions.

34. (Q) What are the indications of future promotion in my present work? (A) Very good if there is the application of the spiritual truths in the material associations.

35. (Q) Is there some other line of work I would be better fitted for? (A) Read what has been indicated, as to that ye may grow to, if ye seek to apply same in the present.

36. (Q) Would it be advisable to ask for a transfer from my present assignment now? (A) We would not. We would work where we are and prepare self for other advancements that will come with same.

37. (Q) Is there any indication that a paid department will be established here in the near future? (A) This should have little to do with thee. There will be a new department established but use it to help others, and use self in the manner indicated to advance further still.

R1. 4/8/44 [3902]‘s wife’s letter:

…, Conn.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Am enclosing herewith check to cover [3902]‘s life reading, which arrive a week ago today.

We’ve all been too staggered to be able to write sooner. To [3902], the idea of his starting, at the age of 40, to study as involved a study as Electronics, especially since it demands such a complete knowledge of mathematics through calculus, etc., when [3902] never went beyond grammar school arithmetic, just seemed fantastic at first. While he’s beginning to recover from the shock, we still haven’t quite been able to figure out ways and means of carrying out that part of the program.

It would mean immediate concentration on the problem of mathematics until he reached a point where it would be feasible to even think of starting the electronic part of it. And then as to which schools would be best for this particular thing is a problem, too. Of course, he would have to start with a correspondence course, for under present conditions it would be impossible [to] walk out on his present job with manpower conditions as they are. However, he does feel that possibly after a correspondence course such as was recommended, it might then be feasible for him to go away to some school and sort of “finish up”, as it were.

Anyway, it is going to call for lots of hard work on his part, and the development of abilities he never thought he had, which is quite a change for a man who has spent twenty years in one job. If you have any suggestions which you think might be helpful, please pass them along after you look over his reading, which I wish you would do if you can possibly do so.

I do hope you are feeling much more rested, and that you won’t work so hard again that you have to retire temporarily, you’re needed too badly. We are all well and busy - had an Easter card from Mrs. Allen yesterday.

R2. 4/12/44 EC’s letter to [3902]‘s wife:

Mrs. [2602] …, Conn.

Dear Mrs. [2602]

Thanks for yours of the 8th, enclosing the check.

I suppose you and Mr. [3902] were somewhat surprised at the suggestions in Mr. [3902]‘s reading, however, from our experience, there could be real progress made here if he would undertake it. As you know, I have nothing to add. Maybe it is entirely all wrong, but I don’t think so from the thousands of experiences that we have had along this line.

I believe the suggestions were that he undertake the study through the mail. I recall a suggestion made like this for a young man a good many years ago. At that time he was a fireman at an electrical plant, and he had just about enough education to fill that sort of job. The information started him on a mail order course. Today he is the manager of an electrical plant at Galveston, Texas.

I understand that’s quite different from studying electronics, but I am sure that if Mr. [3902] applies himself, there is no reason why he couldn’t better himself in many ways.

I know so very little about the various mail order courses. I don’t know what suggestions to make. I believe the school at Scranton is the one that the young man was referred to that I mentioned before, but I know nothing of either one. A man who is in San Francisco as an official in Western Union, was sent to some school in Buffalo first, then to some place in Baltimore. Of course we will try and be of help if we can.

After he studies it over and if we can help in any suggestions, even through the information, you know we will be glad to try. I wouldn’t want him to take anything but a check-reading “on us” and not anything else.

I am glad to say that I am feeling almost well again.

Haven’t heard from Mr. & Mrs. Allen recently. It seems they have had such a hard time getting settled in Jacksonville, they haven’t had much time for writing, and we certainly miss them at our meetings. Are you coming to the Congress? Maybe it’s very selfish, but we will be needing you. Thanks a lot and I hope that it will work out fine.

R3. 5/7/44 Wife [2602]‘s letter:

Regarding [3902]‘s reading, I do appreciate your letter. He is still of course rather vague about it all. He hasn’t done anything about a school yet, as he realizes he has to do something about his mathematics first, so in his spare time now he’s working up his old arithmetic and I’m going to try to coach him in his algebra. After that, he’ll have to go to someone else, for that’s as far as I ever went.

Maybe I’m dense but I’m afraid I don’t quite understand what you mean when you say “I wouldn’t want him to take anything but a check-reading ‘on us’ and not anything else.” Do you mean you think it would be better for him to take a check reading before he goes ahead with any definite arrangements about courses, etc. If you think it would be advisable, and care to put down a date for it, we will try to make connections on the time for it.

As far as Congress goes, I don’t know. At present it looks very doubtful if I shall get there. It’s nice to have you say you need me, though I guess you have more help now, so that it can be covered even if I’m not there.

[GD’s note: It is my opinion that the stenographer misquoted EC in the paragraph re a “check reading”. At that late date he was certainly not proof-reading his letters which he dictated; in fact, often he did not even sign them.]

R4. 5/10/44 EC’s letter to Mrs. [2602] - his own typing:

Am of the opinion that will be best to make the check reading for Mr. [3902] when he has worked a while on his mathematics and is ready, say, for the next course, has he written the Correspondence school as yet? Maybe the reading might help in his selection of the subjects but would get the line on the work in the school he selects, and if he tells them what he wishes to work toward they may have a line for him and the reading might help there, don’t you think?

Wish could talk this all over with you, better come to the Congress so we can have the chance to go over it all, looks like a good crowd, do not know as yet, but am badly in need of a steno, only have service men’s wives, and they change so often - sure wish you were near enough to help us out.

Thanks a lot and let me know if can help in any way, but feel [2780] will be alright if you keep him quiet long enough, but takes time for that drug to work and for body to recuperate from it.

2. How many times have you read your Life Reading? (If many times, give approximate number.) Four or five

3. Did you read it to or with someone else and, if so, what was the relation of the person to you? Yes, wife.

4. Have you given a copy of your reading to anyone and, if so, what was the relationship to you of that person? No

5. How recently have you read your Life Reading? Several years now.

6. In what respects do you feel that your Life Reading was (1) true, (2) false, (3) correct, (4) imaginary, (5) hocus pocus, (6) inaccurate, (7) incomplete, (8) trivial? Partly correct; partly, in reference to suggested life work, not practicable in view of past education.

7. Do you believe in a reincarnation of the soul and, if so, why? Not entirely.

13. How, in your opinion, can our Association best carry on the work of Edgar Cayce and the good for which he stood? Do be mindful the the above questions are primarily for stimulating thought. Comment on each paragraph of your reading, so that you may include all of the fine points of the reading. To what extent did you carry your study of electronics? Do not hesitate to point out wherein you feel the reading was accurate - or even inaccurate.

Started to study electronics, but on the basis of only a grammar school education, and not being too completely convinced on the whole thing, finally dropped it as being impractical.

My husband has never been completely convinced of the truth of the life readings, although he has seen the physical readings work out time and again. He tried at first to follow the recommendation for the electronics training, but soon found that his school background, particularly mathematics, was so faulty that he could not get anywhere with it, without taking an intensive course in math. He got discouraged, and finally dropped it, as impractical for him with the educational background he had. He has never fully recognized the truth behind Mr. Cayce and the readings, or admitted it either to himself or others.
