Time of Reading 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.J. (Body and enquiring mind - Questions on all phases of his life)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, the enquiring mind, [4159] and those conditions as surround this body and its various endeavors. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Please go over the body of [4159] and tell us why he complains that he is ill. (A) He IS ill. These conditions with the physical forces of the body are of a psychological and physical condition, and the body needs rest, change, and the effective forces as will come with same will be established with the body. Change of scene, change of environmental condition for two to three weeks will change the body, will the body be in the open the greater part of such time. Do that.
-
(Q) What caused the conditions and what will cure them? (A) That as has been given will bring relief for the body. The changes are those of the effective forces in the physical functioning of too much acids in the system. Hence the outside influence on the body will change the reactions in the physical body.
-
(Q) What diet should the body have? (A) That of the alkalin.
-
(Q) What exercise? (A) Outside.
-
(Q) Should the body for its best mental, physical interest, remain in this pulpit in East Orange, N.J.? (A) This a matter of consideration by the body, and that as which the body intends to accomplish through its endeavors. Dissatisfaction and discontent is the seat of much of the worries of the body. When the body chose such conditions and such surroundings, as has oft been given for the body, only by the true service in that chosen by the body for its mental and physical endeavors will the body accomplish that which will bring satisfaction and contentment to the body. Well that the body learn to be content in WHATEVER element or surrounding the body finds self; not satisfied, for such satisfaction brings staleness, and the lack of incentive to go forward. While this present position and present surrounding is the proper training for self, in that the self may LEARN to CONTROL self, self’s desire, self endeavor, and THROUGH same will the body be able to give SERVICE to others. The body has learned MANY lessons since we have had same before, especially in that the body CANNOT always have OWN way. Rather should the body get that, as is this: He that would be the GREATEST among his brethren will be the servant of all, and NOT served because he occupies an exalted place. He that would be exalted must abase self and selfish desires. He that would accomplish must accomplish through that of being ABLE for others to lean upon for aid, counsel, advice, strength, patience, endurance - these beget loveliness and holiness from within, and unless that from within can radiate such there CANNOT be the accomplishments as should be done through the offices as are occupied by this body. In this place, then (N.J.), a training school for other, better, higher, more exalted places. Then be CONTENT at the present surroundings, and give until it HURTS - and then give self again! Do that!
-
(Q) How can the body better his material interest? (A) By being of more service to others!
-
(Q) Is it advisable to apply for the assistance Rabbi place under Doctor Foster of Newark? (A) Would be lowering self to do such at the present stage. Why not prepare self and FILL the WHOLE office as occupied by Foster! for this will come to the body, will it but prepare itself for the offices as may be filled in same!
-
(Q) What can he do to show himself better approved unto God? (A) Act that way!
-
(Q) How and where can he serve God better? (A) In the present surroundings and conditions. Prepare self, physically and mentally. Then SERVE!
-
(Q) Why has the body not been more successful in his work? (A) Take that in consideration with that which has been given, and the body will KNOW why in self!
-
(Q) Can his wife do more to aid him be successful? (A) The more cooperation, the more there will be the active forces. This has been well - but do not attempt to BOSS or direct the husband, the head of the house!
-
(Q) What do the next few years promise this body? (A) Depends upon what the body promises to the next few years!
-
(Q) What will improve the popularity in his congregation? (A) Show himself more amiable, peaceful, more loving. Would a body have friends - would the body be that as the minister, pastor, rabbi to the peoples, - would the body master and be master, first he must MASTER self!
-
(Q) Should the body take out added insurance on his health? (A) If he so desires!
-
(Q) What writing could the body do that would make a name for him and money too? (A) Service, and how one may apply self - and in same may the body assist self in FINDING self.
-
(Q) What other means can the body have to improve his financial status? (A) Not so much financial, as that as would be given unto the Creator and Maker of all; for when these are supplied in the fullness of self, He if faithful to give those that as is needed in the exultation in EVERY way and manner. Be content first with that in hand; not SATISFIED, but studying first to show self approved unto Him, the Giver of all good and perfect gifts. When that is accomplished, He has promised - and His promises are true! Does the body believe? Then ACT that way! We are through for the present.

R1. 6/15/29 Wife [459]‘s letter referring Mrs. […] for a Physical Reading for her daughter [2355]: “She knows of [4159]‘s illness and thinks your reading is wonderful, especially the diet. Now, you know what I think of your reading and [4159] is using your diet as prescribed so that’s what he thought of your reading.”
R2. 7/7/29 See 325-27, Par. 8-A—11-A, Mother-in-law’s questions re. methods of helping [4159].
R3. 7/10/29 [325]‘s ltr. to EC: ”…Judge, please take out the reading and see questions. How can I help my son-in-law, the Rabbi and it says it has just outlined and to my mind the paragraph before commencing with - As to those relations in material things and affairs - mean the Rabbi as you talked about him before questions were asked, otherwise I can’t see how it applies with my life. Please tell me what you think as I want to show him the reading and if it applies to him - put the Rabbi at the head of this paragraph and if you think that it applies to me, what’s his part as outlined? This is confidential as I do not want him discussed with anyone else.”
R4. 7/19/29 EC’s ltr. to mother-in-law [325]: ”…My understanding of the reading, Mother [325] - the two paragraphs referred to are regarding the Rabbi. I know, as it has often given you, you have a hard job to work out here but you will be able to do it and be equal to the job if you hold on alright and don’t allow it to upset you too much when these little crosses come up. …I don’t believe, however, that the giving of money would satisfy him at all. That’s very flat and very blunt - I don’t mean it wrongly - I’m just going by the information in the reading…”
R5. 8/14/29 Mrs. [325]‘s ltr. to EC: ”…I know that you will be glad to hear that [4159] was called to N.Y. and given $1,000 more than he gets in N.J. N.Y. said that they had heard of his good work and also that of his wife’s and when N.Y. came over to see President of N.J. congregation, he said that whatever [4159] was worth to them, he was worth to his own congregation and he remains in old place. …Yes, he will find himself with God’s help…”
R6. 10/4/29 Mrs. [325]‘s letter: “[4159] installed a young Rabbi assistant to Dr. Foster and that pleased him - well, he is coming along fine.”
