This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of October, 1928, in accordance with request made by her husband - Mr. [4283].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - [4280] - this we have had before. Now, we find there are many changes since last we had same, and there has arisen some acute conditions that need especial attention at this time. These have been growing gradually worse since the breaking up of those conditions as were exhibited or seen in the right side. Not being eliminated from the system, they have taken on the form of a humor, or inflammation of the lymph glands in extremities, especially in the hands, and added with this the acute strain produced on the nerve centers through this reaction is painful, as well as being very unapplicable to BETTERMENTS of conditions of the body.

2. To meet the needs of these conditions at the present time, first we would prepare at once those properties of Plantain leaf and seed, in the form of a tea or wash, making as this preparation: To 6 ounces of the green Plantain leaf and seed stems, add 16 ounces of rain or distilled water. Reduce to 1/2 the quantity. Strain, and use as bandage - cold, not hot but cold - dipping cloths in same, binding about those portions of arm and hand that are affected, see? taking internally those properties as will PRODUCE an ELIMINATION quickly, such as may be found in any cathartic, PREFERABLY however, this we would use first - this each dose, taking at least 3 doses, 1 each evening, see? 1 EACH evening - this in 1 dose:

Podophyllum…1/4 grain, Senna…1/2 grain, Cascara Sagrada…1/2 grain, Leptandrin…1/4 grain, Licorice Compound…1/4 grain.

See? This makes a large capsule, but give 1 each evening; FOLLOWING same - that is, after the 3rd dose - with at least 3 ounces of Pluto water. Then the 2nd day begin with Castoria - Fletcher’s preferable - but adding to each teaspoonful of same (and take teaspoonful as a dose every HOUR until there is full reaction from the Castoria, adding to each teaspoonful) 3 drops Oil of MULLEN Mullein]. Do that. We will find bettered conditions for the body. Well that manipulations be given gently over the system, that the whole poisons may be eliminated and the reaction through the glands and lymphatics, and the whole circulation, may be more and better equalized. Well that a low form of electrical vibration, or electricity, be given the body AFTER the activities of the eliminants given are effective. This may be given in the form of the Violet Ray. Preferably apply this to lymphatic centers, as would be arm pits, elbows, knees, and groins. This will effectually assist in the proper reaction taking place in system. The diet during this time should consist PRINCIPALLY of GRUELS, fruit and nuts. Do that. Ready for questions. Keep up the applications of the Plantain solution until swelling and inflammation is reduced. Do not HEAT it. Put it on cold, see? Do not even apply same while warm from preparing it. Let it be cold before it is applied. We are through with this reading.

I do wish we could all be there on the 11th to help join in the celebration, but it is impossible to get away at this time. We are so glad you have the Hospital, and know you will benefit so many, and bring happiness to many. We always speak a word for you and your cause whenever we can. I trust that many souls can be guided by the light you give them.

“My hand is better, though I can’t find the ‘plantain’ leaves as you said. None at any drug stores…” [She again requested check-physicals for her children, [4281] and [5520].]

B1. 10/6/28 Letter: ”…I’ve wanted to write you for several days but have been sick for past three weeks. In bed part of time and now my right hand is swollen and has something broken out on it, so it is impossible to use it, or put in water! I want to get you to see what is causing it to be in such a condition. Dr. Layne says it must be a form of eczema caused by too much acid in my system. Now, Mr. Cayce, please give a reading as soon as you can and I’ll send you another check soon, as soon as Mr. [4283] goes to work. The … Company wants him to work as soon as his foot [see 4283-5] is able to travel!

“I’ve wanted to send you a check for something but we have had so much sickness for last four years - and we have not sold our land at … yet. Have it divided into lots and hope to sell it soon… Please describe physical condition of my body and see what causes the acid to form in my system. What to do to relieve condition? What causes the sore condition of my hand? What to do to relieve it? Am I absorbing pus from tonsils or teeth? How much water and milk do I need per day?… [She also submitted questions for her children’s readings, 4281-17 and 5520-4.]…”

B2. 10/20/28 Husband [4283]‘s letter: ”…Mrs. [4280] wrote you some time ago relative to a reading on herself. She has not heard from you. Presume you are very busy and have not had time to give her case your attention. She is suffering very much with her hands, particularly her right hand. She is anxious to have you go over her case as soon as possible in order to get relief. We hope you may be able to let us hear from you soon.
