This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 16th day of August, 1926, in accordance with request made by her mother, Mrs. [4280].

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the improvement and relief of same. You will answer any questions that I may ask you regarding same.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here. This we have had this before.

3. Now, we find there are many changes in the body at the present time from that as we have had here before. While some are for the better, some do not show much change, and the general stress as is produced in the system brings to the body some dis-ease at times. This is especially true in that the over-taxation to the body, in strain, has brought the re-infection to the system through the mesenteric system. This, as we see, produced from the subluxation as has existed in the lower dorsal, and in the sacral [since birth breech presentation?]. This, in bringing the temperature to the system, with the overtaxation, brings to those glands in the functioning of the kidneys that of the pus formation as is discharged through the urine. This is not, then, of the tubercular nature, but rather that of the strained system, by the pressure produced in this subluxation of nerve supply in the sacral and lower dorsal region.

4. The healing properties in the sun baths, as we find, are WELL, yet this would prove much more beneficial to the body were sand, salt and sea air added to such sun baths, and were the diet kept in that way and manner that will rebuild the red blood supply in the body. That as has been outlined for the body under this stress of the system. ALL must first be corrected to the full extent by the removing of the pressure in this sacral region (first portion of the sacral) and in the 12th dorsal, see? and with this correction the hydro-therapy (hot water), or that of the mechano-therapy (the electrical vibration from the hand), will assist in giving the better vibration for this body, see? Do that. This is not tubercular, neither will it become so, would the pressure be removed, and the sand and the salt air would be materially beneficial with the sun baths, rather than these alone.

6. (Q) Should the tonsils be removed? (A) We find no trouble with the tonsils. The inflammation as comes there from time to time is purely from the reflex nature, as is seen would from in the sympathetic system in any of the organisms where the glands are involved. This is of a glandular condition, see?

7. (Q) Should she eat most of her vegetables raw or cooked? (A) Raw, under the present conditions, raw - most.

8. (Q) What vegetables and what fruits should she eat? (A) Those as have been outlined for that at the present time, see? No raw apples. Peaches - all of these are good - pears, especially good. Of the raw vegetables - of the cabbage, of lettuce, of any that may be easily assimilated. Not too much vinegar with any of these, however.

9. (Q) Should she eat any sugar in any form? (A) Sugar in any form is straining on the system - beet sugar the least, and is required for heat for the system, as well as for other portions of the system. Beet sugar may be used in moderation.

10. (Q) Should she eat a butter made of vegetable oils, or dairy butter? (A) Vegetable oils the better. Much nuts and nut fruits may be used also. All it (the body) will assimilate.

11. (Q) Any malted milk or Mellin’s food for drinks? (A) These may be given occasionally. These have all been outlined. Rather follow those in a consistent manner.

12. We are through for the present.

B2. 7/23/26 Mother [4280]‘s letter from Georgia Sanitarium, Decatur, Georgia: ”…I wrote you several days ago that I would bring [4281] here for the sun baths. We have been here four days, and Dr. Schneider [Julius Schneider, M.D.] makes a ‘specialty’ of diet and sun baths, and all kinds of water and shower baths. He has made a thorough examination of [4281], her urine, blood, etc. They require this examination before taking the baths. He says he finds that she has ‘T.B.’ of the kidneys, either one or both, that it would require x-ray to see if both were infected.

“[4281] improved for the first two or three weeks in Griffin, then she began to lose very fast again, and Dr. Layne thought the sun baths would help her, so I came here for a week to learn how to give them.

“Please describe her kidneys and tell me what YOU find, if any trace of pus, or T.B. in them! He seems to think her tonsils need to be out, also; so please describe them and the condition of her spleen, liver, and duodenum. Also see if the inflammation in her colon or small intestine is healed. Her temperature has been higher the last three weeks.

“Dr. Schneider says it will take from one to two years of very careful diet, of only vegetables and fruits, and the sun baths, and hot and cold sponges, and to be kept out of doors all of the time, winter and summer, sleeping out even in winter, to cure her.

“Please tell me if the hot bath, followed by ice-cold sponge bath, is helping her any? Should she eat most of her vegetables raw or cooked? Should she now eat carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, beets, beans, cabbage, corn or squash? Is she absorbing pus from any organ in her body? Should she eat watermelons, bananas, cantaloupes (bananas cooked), vegetable soups made either with beef or without beef? Should she eat any sugar, in any form? Or any meat at all? Should she eat a butter made of vegetable oils, or dairy butter? Any malted milk or Mellin’s food or drinks? Please let me hear from you at your very earliest possible moment. I am so anxious to know what you see in her kidneys now.

“Mr. [4283] is doing nicely in …, Florida, and we shall be able to send you an offering soon; we have had so many obligations to meet the past month.

“Please send this reading to … [Dr. Layne’s] as I will be back there Monday the 26th…”

B3. 8/13/26 Mother [4280]‘s letter: ”…Your letter received; have been looking for some word for several days. Yes, we are back at Dr. Layne’s. [4281] had to stay three weeks at the Sanitarium before she was able to return home. She is still passing some blood and mucous from kidneys. Please see if one or both kidneys are involved? Pus in one or both kidneys? See if there is any sand or gravel in kidneys? Or tubes from the kidneys? Is the blood coming from the kidneys or bladder or tubes? Dr. Layne is asking these questions! See if the infection is that of T.B. The doctors at the Sanitarium thought it to be T.B., though they couldn’t be absolutely sure, they said! They knew she got infected from milk over 1-1/2 years ago! Is this true? Will the sun baths and the hot and cold baths heal her in 18 months? They say it will take 18 months or two years of constant daily treatment, also careful diet. Please let us hear from you as soon as possible. Would magnetic hand treatment heal her now?…”
