GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body that I will ask you.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. This we have had before. While we find the physical conditions of the body are not altogether satisfactory, yet we find there are improvements in the condition - for, as the body will see by itself and its own cognizance of the physical condition, these re-occurrences of the nervousness and insomnia, and of these various conditions that trouble and disturb the body - while they occur, they do not re-occur with that frequency, nor are they as lasting or as severe. Patience and endurance is one of the conditions the entity has HAD to bear, and the nerves have not been able to meet the needs of these.
-
In the battery appliance, while this has brought about much change, we would change these conditions at the present time - not discard this entirely - that is, the Radio-Active Appliance - but at this time we would use the RADIUM Appliance, see? This should be worn continually, save when being recharged, and at least every other day should be laid across the brow, or the head, see? for at least ten to fifteen minutes, while the body rests - just lay this across the brow, see? Not over the eyes exactly, though it will not hurt to lay over eyes, for it would rest and change these. We will change these noises in the head, see? these conditions that disturb the sensory system. The applicator should be worn across the solar plexus - back side, see? Ready for questions.
-
(Q) When should the applicator be used - the Radio-Active Applicator, and how applied? (A) This would be used after a while - that is, some six to eight weeks, we will find this will then be added to bring about the more normal equilibrium. Discontinue its use entirely for six to eight weeks, see? Then we will find it will be necessary to take this up at that time, then using the plain, or use the battery she has, and let the anode from the negative pass through that of other solutions. This will be given at the time - for the conditions to be met, as we see, are the un-equalizations in the system - these various changes as come about - the inability of the body to centralize, materially, mentally or physically, is not a deterioration in the system so much as that of many conditions being at crosswise one with the other.
-
(Q) What causes hands, face and feet to bloat? (A) Improper circulation. Blood carried to these portions distant, as it were, from central portion of the body, and when changed from the arterial circulation to the capillary and vein circulation, this becoming slow, or so slowed up, as we see, that this condition occurs, see? This un-equalization in the system. Hence the change to the RADIUM active forces.
-
(Q) Are osteopathic treatments benefitting spinal condition? (A) Benefitting spinal condition. These have not been given altogether properly. Not sufficient of the manipulation with the adjustments in the extremities, especially in the locomotaries - that is, in the sacral and in the upper portion of the body, see? arms, brachial plexus.
-
(Q) How many should I take? (A) “I should take” ten to fifteen.
-
(Q) How often? (A) These may be made now once each week, if properly given.
-
(Q) When lying on right side, especially, the act of swallowing causes a little sound in that part of throat. One of the complications of a terrible cold a few weeks ago. Is there any obstruction of passage of air when swallowing? At times it seemed difficult to swallow water. (A) No. A restriction in the equalization from the brachial plexus to the upper portion of body, and as the brachial plexus in its reaction to arms and hands is connected with those secondary cardiac plexus, this affects the circulation and the action of the esophagus and trachea. Hence the condition as is felt by congestion in this portion of the body when swallowing. When lying on the right side, this, as we see, produces pressure in the region of the diaphragm and the spleen, and the liver, see? Now the liver has been a great factor in the condition in the body, as has been the spleen, see? Now these being in the state of plethora, as has been given, this pressure, with this non-equalized circulation, causes these conditions, or that as a dripping, as it were, of air, or a leakage in the trachea’s reaction.
-
(Q) Does this same condition cause the roaring in ears? (A) Unequalized circulation, yes, to the portion of the system controlled by the sensory organism. Hence the change in the vibrations as are being given, that will be continually with the body in Radium Applicator, rather than spasmodically, and not properly given always, through the Radio-Active Forces, see?
-
That is all the questions.
-
We are through for the present with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 12/27/26 Mrs. [4329]‘s letter:
… St., …, Ohio
Mr. and Mrs. Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Folks:-
We were very glad to receive Mrs. [4848]‘s reading a few days ago. It was taken about the time she was first taking down with flu - but not at her worst. It is a little hard for her to admit the truth conveyed in the reading - because for herself she thinks more of “remedies” than “prevention”, and doesn’t realize that she is ever indiscreet. I am glad you saw the truth and told it! She has been very ill the past week. She will follow your former advice - I have prepared the herb prescription and she will take a few Osteopath treatments to assist nature still further, and continue wearing the solar pad Radium]. Nor is this all, her absolute faith and confidence in you will continue also! [See 4848-3, Par. R1.]
We are sorry that your work is so much in advance of what you can do, but don’t let it worry you. I appreciate MORE and MORE YOUR EFFORT to get my reading SO - PROMPTLY; how you managed it, I fail to see! The reading [4329-3] is so accurate and wonderful! With each one, my CONFIDENCE and REVERENCE for the DIVINE FORCES working THROUGH YOU, INCREASE!
Your first paragraph is so true. My nerve vitality has always been low (since childhood illness) never equal to the physical endurance. I was glad to note what you said about the Radio Applicator (of Mr. Brown’s). I felt so relieved - as if a great burden had been lifted from me. To be UNABLE to relax in the evening (when using it) after working all day become pretty monotonous, so you see I appreciate the CHANGE, tho its mighty hard on my pocket book to have so much money tied up in applicators, - I began wearing the solar pad (across my back under shoulder blades) Dec. 14. If I am to discontinue the battery applicator, eight weeks from that date the time will be up Feb. 8th. Perhaps a date for my next reading better be reserved any time from the 1st to the 8th of Feb., if convenient for you, so that I can keep right along with whatever treatment I should have. The 1st of Feb. will be the date of my 10th (additional) Osteopath treatment, but I shall not stop, until after next reading.
If more suitable to you I shall make it a point to not leave the house during that mark between middle of A.M. & middle of afternoon.
It is marvelous the way you answered my questions (in the reading). Can’t see how you do it!
I told the osteopath Dr. what you said about my treatments, and gave him your directions. He gives me MUCH BETTER TREATMENTS SINCE. The body does not NOW feel so much greater stimulation than the EXTREMITIES. I have hinted time and again for more time to be spent on my extremities, to make me feel more “alive” in my limbs & feet - also hands - but he is an old man, and I saw, did not like dictation - but since I have told him all about you, everything is all right. I let him take one of your booklets & laughingly told him that he’d HAVE TO accept the phenomena as true, since it was through you that he was called to treat me! I am anxious to see what the solar pad will do for me!
I think you were right in 1st paragraph of reading, about my insomnia. While awaiting my reading I was not only surprised, but amazed a few mornings when I wakened to find that I had slept straight through for seven hours, without rousing enough to get wakeful. (I was not using the applicator then.) It was such an unusual occurrence that it seemed incredible. But now, I am SLIPPING back again, under the stress and strain of sister’s illness of the last 6 weeks. It makes me heart-sick to lose out, after all the effort, time and money I’ve spent, - but I am vowing to try to get the best of the tendencies, SOMEHOW!
Sister and I both feel that the enclosed check is very inadequate, but its the best we can do.
The [4347]‘s join me in wishing you all, including Miss Davis - Choicest, New Year Greetings - May it be a record year for success, health and happiness.
Sincerely, [4329]
R2. 1/1/27 EC’s letter to Mrs. [4329]:
Mrs. [4329] …, Ohio
Dear Mrs. [4329]
We were all glad to have yours of the 27th, and certainly appreciate your taking the time to write us as you did. I’m sorry indeed to know that Mrs. [4348] has been feeling so badly. I am hoping though that she is gaining right along, and will soon be feeling her normal self again.
It certainly is very interesting as to what you say regarding the reading for Mrs. [4348], also for yourself. We wish we DID know how it was done, and would certainly be glad to tell you if we knew - but we see the same thing over and over again, day after day, but can’t explain it. I’m glad the solar pad proves more satisfactory, and I certainly am in hopes that you are finding results from the use of same. I’m sure you are bound to, from what the readings have given. I’m glad, too, that the doctor has given some consideration to what you say regarding the treatments - that I know is bound to be helpful. If you don’t mind, I’d like to know his comment on the phenomena, after he has read the booklet. I believe you have a booklet of the testimonials also, haven’t you? There are letters from so many in his own profession that are well known, I am sure he would have to consider their opinions.
Our little boy (we have two - one nineteen and the other eight) had a very bad accident about seven weeks ago. He was standing before the fire and his night clothes caught on fire, and his left leg was badly burned from the ankle to the hip. There was such a large surface burned, and some places were very deep, it has made it slow in healing. So far, however, he has not had any complications, and we are in hopes that in a few more weeks he will be able to begin using his limb again. Sometimes we find it rather hard - not only on him - for one of his age and temperament to be housed up so long.
I am thinking, Mrs. [4329], that very soon we will be able to get our institution started. I wonder if you would care to consider a place in such an institution?
We are making an appointment for your check reading, on the afternoon of the 4th of February, so that we may be able to check up on the condition at that time. Already our appointments run up into February.
Again thanking you for your letter, and asking to be remembered to Mr. and Mrs. [4348] and with kindest personal regards from all,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R3. 1/10/27 Letter [in part]: “Yes, I gave the D.O. your booklets to read. While he admitted your diagnosis of my spinal condition was correct, and requests your directions for treatments, he says he is a little skeptical, but I guess his wife was better or more favorably impressed.”
R4. 1/13/27 EC’s letter to Mrs. [4329]:
Mrs. [4329] …, Ohio
Dear Mrs. [4329]
We were glad to have yours of the 10th. I’m sorry indeed to know, though, that Mrs. [4848] is having such a time of it. I feel sure her treatments and the rest of it will get her straightened out. I certainly hope it does so very soon.
Well, we are very glad to send you the little booklets and we appreciate your interest, and we hope and trust we may prove helpful to a great many. That is our whole sole desire
- to help others.
I don’t think I have heard from any of those you mention as yet, and I am in hopes - while I am desirous of being of help as soon as possible - that they will delay requesting, for we find that our appointments are such that it will be four or five weeks before we can commence making any more - that is, from the present time - as we have some special work to do during the month of February that will take practically every bit of our time, though I don’t think we’ll forget yours! But this is regarding the opening of the institution, and we feel its possible very necessary to be done at this time.
Now, regarding the institution - yes, we expect to commence, of course, in a small way, and it will be under the direction of a regular medical staff, which will necessarily include physicians of more than one school. We hope to start with six, eight or ten rooms - one of two trained nurses, and two or three practical nurses. Of course, this is all in tentative formation at the present time, but we are hoping to get going by the early part of the Spring, if not before. So I will write you more about this from time to time.
We shall be very glad to exchange some snap shots. I don’t know as I have any on hand just at the present writing - but we’ll keep you in mind and as soon as we do have, why we’ll send some of them to you.
You let us hear from you every opportunity, for we feel rather anxious regarding Mrs. [4848] but hope she is on the improve.
We are glad to say the little boy is a whole lot better - able to hop around on crutches a little, and think as soon as the place heals entirely he’ll gain more and more control over his leg.
With kindest personal regards from all,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R5. 1/27/27 Mrs. [4329]‘s letter to EC [portion of letter in 4848-3, Par. R3]:
I was glad to hear about the Institution. Shall be interested whenever you have any more to tell.
I received, recently, a letter from The Radium Co. They advise an exchange of my
17.50 solar pad for a stronger one (50.00) offering a very nice discount, but even tho you would or do agree with them in my reading Feb. 4th, I fail to see how I can afford it unless you should advise giving up the (battery) Radio Applicator.Mr. Brown was generous enough to say that he would take it back in case my use of it proved unsatisfactory - (words to that effect). Of course he had been assured of my diligence in trying it out. Yet it was lovely of him to thus guarantee it!
I guess I never told you, but I got a very nervous reaction for TWO weeks after I quit using the applicator - after that, I felt as usual again.
I am wondering if the new reading will reveal the effects of my long confinement indoors - (only get out ONCE a week) and overdoing from so much hard work! Sister has been ill since… [See [4848] Reports.]
Questions
Is Mrs. [4329]‘s condition as good WITHOUT using the Radio Applicator, AS IT WAS WHEN USING IT?
MRS. Cayce, if I am advised to resume its use, please BE SURE to ask the DEFINITE PERCENTAGE of iron. 13/13% is FULL STRENGTH. For instance if 10% iron is advised, does it mean 10/13% or 1/10 of 13/13? You see there is a vast difference.
The Nitrate Silver solution must be definitely stated, also
Is a STRONGER SOLAR PAD necessary for more rapid improvement?
How many more Osteopath treatments should be taken?
Will she be strong enough to withstand filling a place in your Institution? If so, when?
Has the right EYE receded, or is it receding through any deterioration, or why does it look & feel smaller than the other eye?
Is the hardening of arteries a condition of long standing? Is the stage advanced for my (her) years?
Can any-thing more be done (besides what you have already advised) to establish more regular sleeping hours?
R6. 3/11/27 EC’s letter to Mrs. [4329]
My dear Mrs. [4329]
I suppose you must feel we have run entirely away. We certainly had INTENDED taking your check reading on the 4th of February, but we were called on special work, and were enroute during that time. I know there is no excuse for our not having written you, but being away, and busy every moment of the time, we didn’t do it - and we hope that you will pardon us. I am certainly very much in hopes that Mrs. [4848] has regained her normal health, and that you yourself are feeling a great deal better.
Now we can make an appointment for the check reading on the morning of the 31st of March, and if this will be satisfactory, I am sure you will want to make another list of questions, in the place of these sent us. Kindly let us hear from you, for I assure you its our desire to do the right thing, though often times we are hindered by circumstances - that make things LOOK bad for us, at least.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R7. 3/20/27 GD’s note: Mrs. [4329] requested that her appointment be used for her sister, Mrs. [4848]. [See 4848-3, Par. R4.]
R8. 3/20/27 Mrs. [4329]‘s letter to EC:
…, Ohio
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
My Dear Mr. Cayce:-
Yours of the 11th advised that I might have a reading on March 31st. I would surely like to avail myself of that opportunity, but here is situation.
I expect to return to Cleveland very early in April. It is extremely imperative for me to be earning something! Besides, if I don’t get away SOON as POSSIBLE, I shall be TOO ILL to go. - Osteopath Dr. advised it, also -
Furthermore, if a new reading, necessitated further expenditure of money, then I could not follow advice anyway - or if the Radio Applicator should be prescribed again, I would neither have the time nor conveniences to use it away from here. Had I been advised about it early in Feb. (if not on the 4th) I would have had seven or eight weeks in which to try it out again. That length of time surely would have indicated whether or not it was the right remedy for me. My last reading advised that I take ten or fifteen more Osteopath treatments - not hearing from you, and it being necessary to “RETRENCH”, I stopped at 14 more on the 1st of March - making a total of thirty-four.
I am sure that neither you nor Mr. Brown can think that I have been inconsiderate or impatient about the APPLICATOR - since I have been ready and waiting for advice to use it CORRECTLY for over eight months - (Since July 14th when it was used first with full strength Nitrate Silver and I had such unpleasant DISTRESSING results, from which I did not recover for weeks.)
I gladly acknowledge that by following your other advice - together with my trip south - gave me greater endurance - and more joy in being alive - all through the fall & up till Jan. But the strain of nursing, & so much housework for so many months, has undone it all - & my condition NOW is about as when I began last summer - time and money gone for naught
- except for the folks here -
It is mighty discouraging! - I am sorry the situation is so negative - for I’d like another reading - however a change may be well so I’ll look forward to a reading in the future if suitable to you. I trust your son has recovered & that hospital is flourishing - Sincerely, Mrs. [4329]
R9. 4/1/27 EC’s letter to Mrs. [4329]:
Dear Mrs. [4329]
As you will see from the enclosed, the reading [4848-4] was gotten yesterday for Mrs. [4848] and I am certainly very much in hopes that this proves very beneficial in her getting straightened out - and I believe it will, if she will follow out the suggestions as given.
I am sorry to know you feel so discouraged, and I feel, too, that you censure us for not having taken care of the reading when we had promised - and I feel you justly do so. But I’m only one, and I CAN’T do everything! And I know I make errors just as everyone else does, and in trying to serve more and preparing for what I believe to be a better way of service, some conditions arise that make individuals feel like they have been neglected. But I’m in hopes that when you get settled, and you have the opportunity for us to make another appointment, I trust we can do so, and prove of help to you.
We shall appreciate you letting us hear from you from time to time. I am certainly very much in hopes that the change will prove just that as necessary to help out at this time, in every way.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R10. 4/2/27 Thomas B. Brown’s letter to EC: “Mrs. [4329] couldn’t get results from her applicator so I returned to her the cost of her applicator.”
R11. 4/5/27 Letter was enthusiastic re. sister’s reading, 4848-4.
R12. 10/13/27 Letter [in part]: Sister and I regret deeply that our finances are too low to become contributors, and that the same reason bars us from future readings - nevertheless, we shall always be grateful for your kindly and invaluable service, and for having made our lives richer!…
You know, or perhaps you do not know that the Radium Co. recommended their pads to last a “LIFETIME”. I always thot that seemed too good to be true - and it has been proven to my entire satisfaction. If they claimed the pads were only good for TWO months - instead of a “lifetime”, I would have bought one anyway, because I was following YOUR ADVICE. From my dealings with them, and the exaggerated claims of their literature, I must say, they are the “cleverest” (?) set of men I know. I am sure you will be surprised to learn this.
I must tell you of a wonderful treat I had while in Cleveland this summer - almost meant sacrificing my bread and butter tho: -
I took Prof. Estep’s Super Mind Science course. The Science is founded on the principles of Positive and Negative Mind Force & the control of the body by the Perfect Concentration Method. He teaches that thots enter the Solar Plexus from the Universal Mind - one half of the thot is negative the other half Positive, - and so on. We were taught how to generate the Positive and Negative (Life) currents and he says when stimulated dormant brain cells are awakened. He teaches a method of developing the psychic faculties of the mind. - He claims that his Super Mind Science had developed so many students into Divine Healers, Public Speakers & Inspirational Writers - Others develop Mind Reading - Cosmic Hearing, Cosmic sight. Inspirational Music, etc.
The lesson booklets, are full of techniques for students to refer to. - I have only had time to use a few so far - but the practice in class, developed in me some surprising demonstrations.
If “little I” could get results in so short a time, what would results be with a person LIKE YOU. - Marvelous Surely!! I have wished many times, that you could have been with us! It will be a great pity if you fail to meet Prof.
Estep sometime, SOMEWHERE! A Cleveland student said he had studied psychology for about 30 yrs. & that Prof. Estep’s course beat them all. Others - testified that he was the greatest teacher that had ever been in Cleveland. He left for Rochester, N.Y. - heading toward Washington D.C. I asked him if he would go south - to Virginia Beach (thinking of you) but he only goes to the larger cities.
I feel satisfied that he could teach you to give almost an unlimited number of Readings daily. - I think I understand better about your Readings, now. It is NATURAL for YOU to “blank” your CONSCIOUS Mind, & use only the SUB-CONSCIOUS. Just as Prof. did when he called off names & read questions, blind folded, & and gave answers almost as rapidly as firing a gun.
He is really & truly a SUPER PERSON - Yet so simple and impersonal, has the most wonderful control & self development, such as STOPPING and STARTING his HEART at WILL.
He calls his teachings Occult Science Americanized; - he was taught by some of the great philosophers of India, after which he made many discoveries of his own. The Secretary of the School, organized in Cleve., will always know his address. I can get it for you any time if you wish. -
The backing for my rather unusual enthusiasm is a wonderful vision I had of him as he stood before us in class - the second night. Later when I told him about it, he said that I had seen the “INVISIBLE PERSONALITY”.
Of course from the first, - in Public lectures I felt that he was genuine - and in class we found him always ready to prove everything he said and taught. I could write pages about him - but fear I have already trespassed on your valuable time.
I presume your hospital is well under way of construction by now. What a glorious achievement it will be for you all! I certainly rejoice with you that the fulfillment of your cherished dreams is about to be realized -
The [4847]‘s join in sincere good wishes and heartiest congratulations.
Very Sincerely Yours, (Mrs.) [4329]
R13. 10/22/27 EC’s letter to Mrs. [4329]:
Dear Mrs. [4329]
We were certainly very glad to have yours of the 13th, but sorry to know that Mrs. [4348]‘s condition was such as to necessitate your having to remain with her most of the time. I don’t quite understand though, Mrs. [4329] for we want to assure you it is not the intention of the Association to prevent anyone from having readings, even though they feel they are not financially able to own a membership and pay ten dollars for each reading. It is necessary, as you know, in any well conducted business, to have some basis upon which it estimate its income so that it may invest same in a judicious way, even when it is for the benefit solely of those we try to serve. Neither do we wish anyone to feel they are charity patients because they are not able to pay the whole amount. We ask them to contribute ACCORDING to their means and abilities, and when their contributions are such in a year’s time as to make them a member, they will enjoy the privileges of a membership for such time. While a membership to the Association at present may mean very little, we sincerely believe that when it is in full running order and the data is gathered in such a way and manner - by a man trained in the profession and trained in such matters as necessary for the publishing of same in a way and manner that it will be used by those that are members - we believe a membership will be worth a very great deal. And if you ever feel that we possibly might be of help, in any way, please don’t hesitate to let us hear from you - for we assure you it is our desire to serve those who are interested, and sincerely desire assistance through the sources that the information comes from when readings are given.
I note with a great deal of interest what you have to say regarding the Radium Appliance. I have never read any of their literature to amount to anything. I’ve had a little correspondence with the secretary of the company, as well as a letter or two from the physician who is supposed to be conducting experiments with their appliances. I must say, however, that in most cases they have proven most satisfactory - but I don’t think any organization or company should claim that anything of that nature is a life everlasting proposition, unless they arrange some way for such to be re-charged. In several instances pads have had to be re-charged. Where it has been suggested for same in the readings they have done so without any question.
As for Professor Estep, I have heard of him before, though I have never attended any of his lectures. I’m sure from what you say he must be wonderful man. I would like very much to know something more of his manner of operation, and I am in hopes I’ll have the opportunity of meeting him at some time.
We are progressing slowly but surely with our undertaking. We are hoping to have institution full in operation early in the Spring. We have just had returns on the estimate from the contractor, and we hope that we will start the actual erection of the building in a very short time now.
Again thanking you for your letter, asking to be remembered to Mr. & Mrs. [4348] and with kindest personal regards to yourself.
R14. 12/23/27 [4329]‘s letter to EC:
Cleveland, Ohio
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
For my tardiness in answering your letter, I am remiss only in APPEARANCE - NOT AT HEART. I have had a strenuous time at Sisters’ since the latter part of Aug. not only neglecting my correspondents, but myself. - I just returned to the city last Tuesday - hope to secure a position when I have rested a bit. Sister and I was both glad to know that one may still have readings under same terms as in the past, but I fear, Mr. Cayce, that your (hospital) booklet has been misleading in that respect, to many persons. -
Sister was unable to carry out your last instructions, as we did not like the way the … Osteopath operated, but we think your diagnosis of her is quite correct. [Copied into 4848-4 Reports.]
As to myself - while I felt so badly all through Osteopath treatments from his rapid, severe manipulations, which always left my nerves in a state of shock; I know NOW, that certain NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE, - since I got longer hours of sleep every nite and am almost entirely relieved of congested headaches - formerly I was never free from pain & distress - You don’t know how GRATEFUL I am TO YOU, for my IMPROVED CONDITION! I never would have had the courage to continue so long with Osteopath - had you not advised it. Both the expense and the way they affected me at the time was terribly discouraging. But NOW, I feel doubly repaid -
Believing you to be very conscientious, I hope that you will seriously consider the true worth of those Radium Solar pads in your reading sometime. It is still my opinion that the
17.50 ones serve as little more than baits - as an exchange for a50.00 pad is recommended, almost immediately, by the Company, before patients have time to discover the weakness of the small pads - Their therapeutic value is almost negligible I am sure; but they may do a lot psychologically. After you investigate thoroughly - (psychically) - if you find I AM WRONG, please tell me, for I dislike to MISJUDGE. However, I feel so sure now about the small pads, that I’d nearly stake my life on it. I have had no experience with the larger pads so of course do not denounce them - You asked about Prof. Estep and his mode of operation? Prof. teaches the Eastern Philosophy along with his own, and a lot of exercise for the development of latent powers - which promotes a healthy body - growth of soul & intellect, tending toward superiority - a Super being, in every way. But I believe no one can attain the heights Prof. has without living as he did under the teachings of the old philosophers, in India. It takes a lot of time to study & to take the exercises daily - too much for one in my position in life, but I hope I can get back into it as much as I was when I left here last August. The little attempts I made in the class and following Prof. Esteps departure - gave me a feeling of deepest reverence when with the exercises I tried to arouse latent powers. - It all seemed SO SACRED - like PRAYING - only instead of the Divine bring away off somewhere, It seemed WITHIN ONES VERY OWN BEING! I don’t know whether others were thus impressed or NOT, but I would not take anything for those few months experience.
Many persons might scoff and think it all imagination - but as one proof - the exercises in class for an hour or two would raise one’s vibrations so high that fatigue was overcome, and when we got home the thot of ever sleeping was driven out of the mind completely. In such cases Prof. had an exercise to DE-magnetize before trying to sleep.
Our nite he told of a piano playing contest - when he suggested to his companion as they passed the fatigued pianist, that the fellow could win if he were made to breathe through his RIGHT nostril only - (the positive side). So Prof.s’ friend acted upon the suggestion & the pianist not only WON, but was refreshed enough to play OVERTIME. And so for the reverse - if when one is sleepless or nervous over some coming ordeal, close nostril the right nostril and breathe through the LEFT, (the negative - receptive side) and one will become soothe and tranquil. I do not know what Prof. Estep’s correspondence course is like, but I dare say that one would get their moneys’ worth, for he is marvelous.
He is the kind tho’ whose visible personality is not at first pleasing - one must look beyond - to the invisible - to recognize his true worth.
I presume I always tax your patience with letters too lengthy for a busy man - so here’s wishing that you and yours have had the jolliest Xmas ever, & that the New Year holds for you all, every good thing I can think of.
Sincerely, Mrs. [4329]

Mrs. [4329] …, Ohio
Dear Mrs. [4329]
We were very glad to have yours of Dec. 23rd. I am certainly sorry to know though that you have had such a strenuous time, but I’m in hopes that all conditions have cleared themselves and that things are better for you now.
Regarding the hospital booklet, that is the general plan under which the work is to be conducted - but, as I said before, it has never been the intention of anyone associated with the work to prevent anyone from getting a reading, even though they didn’t feel they were able to become members of the Association, and we do not mean to imply that people are charity patients because they can’t pay the full amount. We simply ask each to treat the work and the Association in the same way and manner they would be desirous of being treated were the conditions reversed.
Yes, we find - if there is any one mode of treatment suggested more often than any other, it is the work of the osteopath, and we have found - where we were able to have the cooperation of the osteopath - when such treatments were suggested - never a case where results were not obtained.
On a recent visit to New York I met some physicians of the homeopath school. One among them was appointed on a committee something more than twenty years ago to investigate this phenomena - I mean this particular one. I find many of this school very much in sympathy with the work; in fact several have asked that they might become more closely associated with it. This is gratifying in a way - for I do want to keep it on a scientific basis if I’ve really gumption enough to do it; for while I have been forced to believe it, I still like to have scientific proof of same. And we had some very interesting meetings.
I’m certainly glad to know you are feeling a lot better and that the osteopathic treatments have been helpful and beneficial to you.
Now, as respecting the pad, I think I wrote you before we had never seen nor heard anything of these until the reading suggested one. It was very peculiar though that in the same mail with your letter I received a letter from a lady [4630] in …, Ill., who said she had been without the use of her pad some two weeks - as she was having it recharged - and that she had felt the loss of it, and then as soon as she had it back she felt the improvement. Possibly it’s purely psychological, but to her at least it is real. And hers is the smaller pad.
While in New York I met a gentleman who claimed to have studied with Professor Estep - in fact I believe he claimed to have given Professor Estep lessons. He seemed to be quite a wonderful man. Does Professor Estep give lessons by mail? Possibly I might be able to take advantage of some of this in that manner.
I have a friend in Cleveland who has asked me quite often to visit there. If I should be able to, possible I would have a chance to meet him in person.
No, we are never taxed by the length of your letters but are always glad when you do find the opportunity to write, and are always glad to hear from you. Things have been running along in a fair way. I possibly will be in the South a few days the latter part of the month, for we want to get started with the actual building of our institution very soon if it’s possible. We have had a little trouble, of course, financing
- for it is not an easy matter for a person that scarcely knows where the next month’s rent is coming from to undertake to build an institution costing from fifty to seventy-five thousand dollars. But we’ll build it if the Lord is willing! We shouldn’t if He’s not, of course.
Please remember us to Mr. and Mrs. […] and with kindest personal regards to yourself, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
I was very glad to hear from you again, and read with much interest what you said about the New York man who claims to have taught Prof. Estep. What was his name, and at what stage of Prof.’s great pursuit for knowledge was he taught by him? - He must be a wonder & I am interested to know more about him. Wonder if they met before Prof. went to India? What I had mentioned in a former letter, that Prof. Estep has a correspondence course of lessons, at $15.00 - so his wife told me.
Our class has had word that he will be in Cleveland again, sometime in Feb. - That would seem a very opportune time for you to accept your Cleveland friends’ invitation to visit here - a rare treat I would say, for both you and Mrs. Cayce if she can come too! Prof. usually starts out by giving three or four free, Public lectures - then a class follows for six nights - with two lessons a night - 12 lessons in all - then more free lectures - another class formed - and students of first class permitted to REVIEW FREE.
The class fee is $25.00 which includes a private psycho analysis FREE. He rattles off an analysis as fast as can be, while writing down for you the rating of your qualities, or talents - you would surely get an hundred mark in psychic ability - surpassing all previous records in Prof.s’ experience I dare say. Am certain my curiosity would get the best of me - I would be so anxious to know what he would say about your phenomenal demonstrations (before he had time to learn anything about you).
Now once again I’ll refer to the Radium pad subject. I think I owe you an apology for insisting that you consider that subject in a “reading”! I did not understand that the pads had been suggested to you out of a “clear sky” - from UNIVERSAL MIND! But if that was NOT true - the “bone of contention” would still be between the Radium Co. and ME - NOT between YOU & ME, for misrepresenting THE LIFE of the small pads, and for disclaiming their efficiency when applied locally - Yet they make different kinds of applicators, such as eye “glasses”, throat pads and so on - for various kinds of local troubles. The Company seems very contradictory in its dealings, - it looks to me! But, barring all THAT, the scientific principle which their products embody, together with your advice, has always appealed to me - and altho, I have NO PATIENCE with their business methods, I haven’t a doubt that, if I were earning plenty of money that I would exchange my small pad for the $50.00 size. That size MIGHT LAST a YEAR giving something like FAIR RESULTS. I am sure we now understand each other. I am sorry your building plans move so slowly - Perhaps the way will look brighter soon. - A nurse friend may send to you for a reading date when you return from the South, if not before. Shall let you know Prof. Estep’s plans about coming as soon as I hear. Hope this finds you all well & happy -
Sincerely, Mrs. [4329]

Dear Mrs. [4329]
I was very glad to have yours of the 21st, and while this will only be little note at this time - as I am preparing to be away ten days or two weeks - I thought I’d write a line anyway.
I hope you will let me know when Dr. Estep is there. I would like very much to meet him and to have his course if I can afford it. I wish I could visit Cleveland while he is there at this time. A Professor Taylor [Charles Francis Taylor?]
is the man who told me he knew Professor Estep, and was with him before he went to India.
Things are moving along slowly but I feel they are progressing in the right direction. I’ll be glad when I don’t have to make so many trips, for we are keeping rather busy and naturally it breaks into appointments that sometimes are very urgent.
Be sure and let me hear from you whenever you have the opportunity. Certainly thank you very much for the way you wrote about the appliance and so forth.
All here join me in kindest personal regards.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

My Dear Mr. Cayce:-
Yours of Jan. 23rd was just received last Saturday March 3rd. Where it has been in that long interval is a mystery - unless a fire in one of the departments of our Post Office here, some weeks ago, explains it, for not only was there some LOSS of mail, but disorganization must have been great. The envelope looks like it might have gone around the world.
However, I had not forgotten my promise, and had Prof. Estep stopped here to give another course on his way from Pittsburg to Chicago, I would have written you anyway.
I was very sorry of his changed plan, but had he come as intended, earlier, I would have missed the present course of Dr. Rileys’ in Home Therapy. He began with free public lectures on the 8th of Feb. After nine of those, eight nights of lessons followed. I am almost “done out” - can’t stand irregular meals and hours of sleep. He is doing wonders - hope I can help somebody when through. Everybody loves Mrs. Riley and Dr. too.
Please excuse short note this time. Rest assured that I will keep you informed if Prof. Estep ever returns when I am here.
With best wishes for all your undertakings, and kindest regards to all, I am
Sincerely (Mrs.) [4329]
R19. 3/15/28 EC’s letter to Mrs. [4329]:
Dear Mrs. [4329]
Replying to yours of the 6th - apparently there has been some delay and mix-up in our mail, going and coming, as we have had complaints both ways.
Another one of our friends in Cleveland spoke of hearing Dr. Riley [Joe Shelby Riley?]. I’m sure he must be good from what you both say.
We just had a meeting of some of our officers of the Association in Chicago. We have a very nice group there, and I believe our meeting will tend to further the interests of our work and be possibly beneficial to quite a number of people. We are hoping to get started with the actual building of the institution real soon. Our building program is being worked out at the present time, and I trust we can get at this very shortly.
We are very glad to hear from you whenever you have the opportunity, and we do hope that you will come in and see us sometime in the coming season.
With kindest personal regards from all, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

Dear Folks:-
Just a line to thank you for the Hospital booklet [See booklet under 4874-3 Reports]. When I saw the founders’ picture and those of the hospital, exterior and interior, the full significance of it all came to me, and I was overwhelmed with emotions of deepest gratitude and REVERENCE. I felt as if I was looking upon something sacred, including Mr. Cayce’s picture (don’t laugh, please).
I am sure that your Wonderful Institution will prove a success in every sense of the word, because the noblest thots and highest aspirations have gone into its construction.
May God continue to prosper you and yours - guiding you thru to the end of a long, long life of Psychic research and manifestations for the good of suffering humanity.
With kindest regards to all,
Sincerely Yours Mrs. [4329]
