This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 23rd day of October, 1924, in accordance with request made by self - [4358].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will give the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of the body.

2. EC: Now, while we find there are many abnormal conditions with this body, a great many of these are produced more by self-condemnation than from physical conditions produced by physical reaction. True, many abnormal conditions exist in the system and hinder the perfect functioning of the body, yet much of this is produced through that condition that with resistance set in mental forces in body, to meet the needs of the physical, the body would and could be physically in very much better conditions.

3. Now these can only be met through the mental forces, controlling self. In this first must the body find, know, believe, practice, manifest in self the abilities of healing forces for a physical body to come from within. That is, the body must determine from within itself that it will, through the help of the Divine from within, make all at a oneness with the Divine forces, and through this bring the better spiritual, physical and mental attributes to this body.

4. These may be assisted by taking certain physics in the body and having the reaction through the physical forces in the body, yet without this awakening in self, without this help coming from within, any outside influence would only be of a very temporary nature, but with the awakened spiritual forces from within, acting in accordance with the spiritual forces in self, the body can throw off these conditions and bring, give, manifest, much good in the physical and in its relations to others.

5. The properties to be taken in, that we may have the incentives necessary, are those that would be found in this:

Fluid Extract Wild Cherry…1/2 ounce, Fluid Extract Sarsaparilla Root, or Syrup of Sarsaparilla Root…1/2 ounce, Stillingia (Fluid Extract of)…1/2 ounce, Yellow Dock Root (Fluid Extract of)…1/2 ounce, Burdock (Fluid Extract of)…1/2 ounce, Polk Root (Fluid Extract of) [Poke Root]..1/4 ounce, Balsam Tolu…3 drams, cut well in alcohol before added to solution; sufficient simple syrup to make 8 ounces.

The dose would be teaspoonful twice each day.

6. Also keep the body well cleansed outside and in with pure water, giving sufficient of water that the whole system may be cleansed with these medicinal properties in their physical action. Also well that the lesions in the abdominal region, and in the pelvis and vagina proper, be cleansed regularly, that the secretions, the dross, may prevent the irritation when cleansed.

7. Do this, presenting, keeping, the whole mental, moral, physical body Holy and acceptable before Him, for without this first brought into self and made a part of self there will be no permanent healing through these properties given. With this the body can give much to others.

R1. 3/23/25 [4358]‘s letter to EC: “Guess you are wondering why I don’t report the progress of my case to you. We have had an extremely hard winter and a very rough one on rheumatic people. But I have stood it remarkably well. I think the medicine you advised me to take has had a good deal to do with my getting along so well. I never could keep warm and the cold hurt me until now, I keep warm away from the fire and my blood circulates better and I seem to have more of it. I am gaining in weight and have a much better color. The last two weeks I have been having a light attack of flu. There is a soreness in my face and several of my teeth hurt. I have two or three abscessed teeth, but my jaws are so close together I can hardly have them pulled. My bowels won’t move unless I use a syringe. I thought perhaps it was because I had to sit all the time. My left elbow gives me quite a bit of trouble. It seems to be so stiff in the muscle that it is so hard to bend it together. Does it make any difference as to what I eat most? The doctor always forbid me to eat meat, especially pork meat. I want to do what is best to get the best and quickest results. I know a great deal of my trouble was caused by self abuse, and most of that by ignorance until it was too late.

“I am enclosing a check for one dollar, as I promised I would do as a payment on my reading. I received a letter from you in regards to the hospital you were interested in. I will write again about it and try to send a donation, if but only a small one…”

R2. 4/4/25 EC’s letter to [4358]: “We were certainly glad to have your report of the 23rd, and would be glad to, if you desire it at this time, make another reading for you and see if there could not be further suggestions given as regarding your condition. If it is agreeable with you, I shall be very glad for you to make a list of questions as regarding the conditions at the present time. Perhaps by following these we can get a very specific remedy for the assistance of the conditions at this time.

“I’m glad to note that you feel this has been of help to you in keeping as well as you have. We appreciate your interest and contribution towards the work, and your good feeling and intent towards same. We ask only that each one contribute according to their abilities and circumstances, and I’m sure when anyone feels they are gaining results from what we are trying to do, they in turn feel that they should contribute as their means permit them.

“Shall be very glad to make the appointment for you at the very first opportunity.

“Thanking you for your letter, and trusting you will let us keep in closer touch with you, and with all good wishes…”

B2. 10/5/24 [4358]‘s letter to EC: “I have been given your address by Mrs. [5700], who is taking treatments of you, and I hear she is being greatly benefited by them. I have doctored a great deal but am still an invalid. I would like to know if you think my case hopeless. I have joint trouble. All my joints are affected. They slightly enlarge and harden and I cannot move them much. My hands are inclined to draw shut. I cannot walk as my knees will not straighten, nor my hips. My jaws are stiff and I cannot open my mouth wide enough to eat very well. I have two abscessed teeth and two more decayed. I have a good appetite and sleep very well; pretty good action of my bowels; monthly periods regular, and not nervous or easily excited. I sit in a stool chair that has castors on it. I can use my feet and legs to move the chair anywhere I want to go on a level floor. I will look for a reply at an early date, as I have become interested and very anxious. What is your charges? Find enclosed ten cents for materials for reply…”
