This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 2nd day of June, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [4586], via, David E. Kahn.

Born October 23, 1898, 5:00 P. M., New York City, N.Y. Time of Reading 5:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York, N.Y.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and the Universal Forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited, in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity, giving the abilities of the present entity and to that which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions regarding this body that I will ask you.

2. EC: (In going back over dates, EC said: “Seventeen Ruth Rubens in 1925.”) Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the Universal Forces as are exhibited in the present earth’s plane, with those as latent influences as are seen from the appearances in the earth plane, and that to which the entity may attain in the present, and how.

3. In taking the position, we find the entity comes under the influence, from the astrological survey, from those conditions as are seen in Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus, with those adverse influences in Neptune, Venus, and in Saturn. Hence we find one high tempered, yet often is this controlled through will’s forces and the application of better judgement, yet this tends to produce that ability of the entity to hold grudge, or to suddenly find a grudge when others would not consider such should be found by the entity for the conditions existent.

6. One of those who may, through will’s force, in the coming two years, bring much to self and put self in that position where, though responsibilities may arise from same, there will come the greater development to the entity from service rendered.

In the coming year, with the Uranian forces showing in the life, there will come that time when the entity should decide, DECISIVELY, as to whether the career shall be the life, or whether the home and minus the career, save as is in the career of the home, to be decided in the life. This should be done by the 23rd of the coming October.

8. In the influences as are seen from the appearances in the earth plane, these are many:

9. In the one before this we find the entity then in that of now called the Dutch country, or the Netherlands, when the peoples were moving or journeying to the shores for settlements. The entity then in the name of Buheal came to the new land, then, with those settlers, and settled in that portion of the country around now New Haven, Conn., and the entity gained and lost; gained in the earlier portion of the life; lost through that selfishness as was seen manifested toward the latter days. In the urge as is seen - that desire to explore old and new unseen places, and also the urge toward fancy or needlework, for the entity surpassed many in the abilities shown in that day.

10. In the one before this we find in the country now called Austrian, and the entity among those of the court when the iron hand was laid on the peoples in the western portion of that country. Then among those that were in the household of the ruler. The entity lost during the sojourn, in the general way, yet many qualities were brought to the point of excellency, as pertains to earth and spiritual manifestations. The entity then in the name Gumieul. In the urge as is seen - the love of pomp or of social position, social prominency. Do not let this be to the entity’s undoing!

11. In the one before this we find in the Roman days when there was the settling of the lands about that city in its growth. The entity then in the name Romololu, in the days of the destruction of that portion of the lands for the building of those portions of Rome now known as the Ancient Hills. The entity among those peoples who tilled the land in those days, being the keeper of the goats in the field, and the entity gained in the days of communication with nature and with nature’s forces, as termed in the earth’s plane of today. In the latter portion of the earth’s sojourn, in that period, the entity became a weakling, and still retained, however, much of that gained in natural forces.

12. In the one before this we find in the periods of the sojourn in the land where the peoples had been taken as captives. The entity then in the household of the children of Ephraim, and in the name Ahtleah, and the entity then gained in the period of persecution in the household of one of the rulers to whom the entity was taken as captive, or servant to the ruler’s household, and the urge as is seen from these conditions - the innate expression of the feelings of the peoples that should adhere closely to the teachings of the rule, or the God of Israel. Well that these innate urges be brought more closer to personal application, through the urges as are seen from that of the natural sources; for, as the entity gains the natural inclination of service for service sake, and for service that others may gain the closer, the better knowledge of the true, the living God, the greater will come the service to the fellow man and greater the glory in the spiritual sojourn.

13. As to the one before this we find in those days when the divisions came in the now Indian country. The entity then in that field of those who first set in the household the worshipful conditions for the children. In the name then Induin, and the inclination or urge is the love of home and of children, and in this will the entity find the greater conditions, the greater blessings as would come in the present earth’s plane, in that of the teacher to those of its OWN household, and of those who may come in the HEARING of the teaching of the entity, for in service to others, in the knowledge of Him that gave the life to each and every individual, lies the greater service, and that through which this entity, [4586], may gain the blessings here in happiness, in joy, in peace, in monies, in fame, in fortune, and in glory.

Kahn’s ltr. to EC: ”…Miss [4586] received her letter [rdg.] and it was perfectly remarkable, especially inasmuch as in the past appearance she was supposed to live at New Haven, Conn. and that is where all of her people have lived for many, many years, so probably that is the connection. She will write you herself…”

R2. 6/25/26 EC’s ltr. to David E. Kahn: ”…Glad to know that Miss [4586] was pleased with her reading. We had several requests I think from the same office, and among them the one you mention about where the son had disappeared. We have made this engagement, to get this as soon as possible, though you know I won’t take up the attempt to locate the boy, save as may be indicated in the Life Reading…” [See [2213].]

R3. 8/16/26 EC’s ltr. to David E. Kahn: “Replying to yours of the 16th, we shall certainly be glad to know Miss [4586], and trust that we can find many things of mutual interest to all, and shall be very glad to be of service if it is possible. I am in hopes you told her where the reservations are made for her…”

My dear Miss [4586]

I beg your pardon for not having written you sooner. Just after you left we had a friend in that spent a week at our home, and we were quite busy most of the time, with little or no time for writing. Following this, I seemed to go “fluey” and wasn’t able to write or do anything, not even for myself

• so I’m just getting back to my much belated correspondence. I assure you it has been a joy and a pleasure to have known you, and we were much disappointed that you didn’t show up on labor day. We were very much in hopes that we would see you again. I’m glad to know that you had a delightful trip home, and I’m in hopes that you felt sufficiently recuperated to tackle the next year’s work with a vim.

Edgar Evans certainly appreciated the book. I don’t think he stopped until he had completed it, and has read it I think two or three times since. He has started in to school now and of course is very much exercised over his new books, and I think has read one or two of them through once or twice already.

Hugh Lynn got off to school last Sunday [first year at W & L]. Now we are very much alone. All our company has gone. Dr. House has gone back to Kentucky for a few months - so there’s no one except my wife, Edgar Evans, Miss Gladys, and myself. NOW you ought to make us a visit!

I certainly am in hopes that you got something from the book. [EC loaned her a book, [[3744] collection?] which she was returning.] I know, as you say, you couldn’t read much of it at a time, but if you are like the most of us, you will find from time to time that you will see thoughts here and there that will remind you a great deal of what was said in those pages. I haven’t received it as yet, but I am sure it will show up in good time.

Yes, it won’t be long now before it’ll be time for your reading. I hope we will be able to take care of it and that it will be worth while.

I had a note from Mr. Kahn yesterday. He had just gotten back to New York. He didn’t come by this way on his return - promises, however, to spend the week end with us before very long - possibly the 19th or 26th.

We were mighty glad to hear from you, and we hope that you will let us hear from you often.

R6. 9/20/26 Letter: “It just seems ages since I am back in N.Y. and I have been very busy almost every minute of the time… [Had a very lovely note from Edgar Evans [thanking her for a book she sent him] a few days ago and I’m going to write him the first opportunity.] [GD’s note: Edgar Evans was 8 yrs. old. Her interest in him bore out the reading’s statement about her love of children.]
