This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of April, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - [4586].

Time of Reading 12:15 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will have before you the information as given in Life Reading of [4586] on June 2, 1926 [4586-1], and you will answer the questions regarding this body at the present time.

2. EC: Yes, we have the information as given here. Ready for the questions on the present.

3. (Q) How are conditions shaping themselves in The … Co., as affecting the body, [4586]. (A) The many changes in the personnel and the affairs of the company are at the present time strengthening the position of [4586] with the company, though, as is felt at times by the entity, or body, there are those who would prefer seeing the body not so much in power, or in favor with those higher up; yet the body, the entity, has its own tenets and principles, and should abide by those, doing all things in order.

4. (Q) Did the body act wisely in asserting herself and being determined to remain with The … Company? (A) That is for the body to answer in itself, for the information has been given the entity as regarding this. As we see, well.

5. (Q) Will the body remain in her present position in view of her efforts? (A) This again is a matter of question. Under the present existent conditions, yes - but, as give, there are conditions afoot that might make the conditions unsavory to the entity’s best judgement. Abide rather by those conditions as are being builded in the entity’s endeavors, or that proper way of handling peoples, things, and circumstance.

6. (Q) Will the present president, […], retain the body in his employ indefinitely after he makes his headquarters out of town? (A) That, again, is giving conditions wherein other wills are brought into action. Information has been given as to conditions existent between the two and the president’s intent and purpose toward the entity. Use that in hand for the purpose as is set in the entity, or know what the entity desires and work toward that end. Does the entity desire to remain in the present capacity with the natural advances by reason of application of self towards those needs in further developments of the company? Then act in that way and manner.

7. (Q) Will the present president carry out the plans which he says he has for the body? (A) Would the body act in that way and manner that would carry or meet the needs for those plans, well. Would the body act in other manners, not so well, see?

8. (Q) Is the body, [4586], capable of successfully carrying out these plans? (A) Capable, and has the ability to apply both initiative in self and in taking and executing the desires or wishes, or orders, of others.

9. (Q) Is the present treasurer sincere in his promise to the body in regard to her responsibilities? (A) Watch the treasurer!

10. (Q) Will these responsibilities mean increased compensation to the body? (A) They would mean increased responsibilities AND increased remuneration.

11. (Q) When would this be effective? (A) We don’t see it all carried out just as plans are set. There are many other conditions to arise where there will be many more changes.

12. (Q) Would the body be more successful and happier if she changed her position to another company? (A) That is within the entity’s own making. In the present position, and the outlined policies of many of the company that are in accord with those wishes of the entity, the entity would be better within the present company. There are conditions, however, wherein the entity may find that other conditions, other positions, would be more advisable. We don’t find them at present, though there have been some offers the entity considers. Weigh well, and answer in self.

13. (Q) Are there any other worth while opportunities for the body in the business world? (A) When, as has been given, the entity makes self worth while, the opportunities present themselves. Little by little, step by step, as the body, this body, ANY body, assumes and fits self for the various conditions, they are at hand. Not only as opportunities, not only as chance, but rather as the natural consequences of such actions. Be not deceived. God is not mocked. Whatsoever is sown, that shall be reaped.

14. (Q) Should the body seriously consider the offer made to her as assistant to Mr. […], Stock Publicity Man? (A) Seriously consider, yet there are many more ends to such change not yet apparent, see? We do not see this too well, see?

15. (Q) Is the body any nearer the point where she is considering the home rather than the career? (A) Quite so.

16. (Q) Is the body in connection NOW with the person who would be influential in her changing her mind to the home rather than the career? (A) Quite so.

17. (Q) Is the body’s mental attitude still preventing this matter from being consummated? (A) Still preventing this from being consummated.

18. (Q) Assuming that the body desires to apply self to the conditions surrounding this matter, is there any other opposition that is interfering? (A) Many - for the entity has not made in the inmost self that as the goal, see? for where the treasure is there is the heart also. The home has not been made the treasure as yet. Rather that of position, of that thought of self by others, and the independence as is felt in same - THESE are as the treasure house of the entity as yet. Not that the entity has not grown more stable, but as to the highest IDEALS - these, as yet, have not changed in the entity’s inmost self - though there is much advancement, many more BEAUTIFUL conditions in the life, in the mind, in the heart, of the entity.

Dear Miss [4586]

I enclose you, herewith, the reading, and I am in hopes it will be helpful and worth while. I don’t know that I can make any particular comment on it at this time. Possibly I had rather see what you have to say before I say much about it. I’m sure though, from what you have said, that things are changing so rapidly that you are beginning to wonder just what’s what.

We have had so much happening around here lately that we delayed getting this off to you as soon as we should have, but my sister and brother-in-law [Ola and Jerry Crume] came up from Florida Saturday afternoon, and then Hugh Lynn came in Saturday night - so it has been almost like neglecting to do what I should - but I’m in hopes the information is coming in time to be helpful and beneficial to you in many ways.

I’m certainly glad to know Miss [4390] was pleased with her reading, and I’m in hopes she succeeds in getting a whole lot of good out of it.

Hugh Lynn seems to be pretty well, and is mighty glad to get home again for a few days.

It is like real spring weather here today, and great flocks of people are coming to the Beach. The first big crowd, I believe, came down this morning - about a hundred and sixty from my home state, with a good big bunch from Canada. They all look like they’re having a good time. Then one of the big conventions meets at the Cavalier. They’re certainly keeping the Boulevard filled up this morning - but the weather is such that I don’t blame them all for wanting to get out in it.

Let us hear from you when you have the opportunity. I’m certainly in hopes you take the opportunity to see that scenario we had, for I feel very sure it would be especially interesting, since you have some friends in that country in which the scene is laid.

I certainly appreciate the little book. I think some of these paragraphs are quite timely, and I am sure that there are many of the people to whom these have been addressed that they have proven quite worth while to.

R2. 4/25/27 (Monday) [4586]‘s letter:

New York, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

It was just wonderful of you to cram in those questions for me because I know you ARE so busy, but you may be sure that your kindness in this has helped me tremendously, which I know will be gratifying to you.

You ask for my comments on the reading before you say anything, and truly, Mr. Cayce, my only comment is - the answers are just “as is”. I can’t add one thing to anything you have said or give any other interpretation. Conditions are just as the answers would imply! Plans are changed from day to day and I feel that it will all work out BIG if it is allowed to.

I am glad you liked the little book. Everyone who has received a copy talks well of it.

We are all feeling tip-top at home and trust that Mrs. Cayce, Edgar Evans and Miss Gladys are enjoying good health. Of course you understand that all these good wishes go for you too!

Mother has not been well recently and we are quite upset about her. If she does not improve in the next day or two I may wire you for some help in her case.

R3. 4/26/27 EC’s letter:

Dear Miss [4586]

Just a little note to thank you for yours of the 25th. I’m certainly mighty glad to know that the reading fitted in just right. I did have some time trying to get this in, I must say, for they certainly have been crowding us lately, and we have four or five on hand that it looks like we just can’t get to! and it looks like they’re going to be put off whether we want them to or not. We’re trying to fill them in without making them so long off. But it’s really good to know that people are more and more taking advantage of the opportunity they are given.

Well, we have at last filled application for a charter for our institution [A.N.I.]. Now, I’m in the market for somebody that knows how to write the right sort of article just as soon as our charter is granted. Do you know of such a one? You know, this is the first time that there has been application for such a charter in the history of the United States. It’s been talked of, surmised about, and said that such was going to be, but it’s the first time such a charter has been asked for. So it IS history, you know, we are making. Let’s hope we make a big history! Do something worth while - and, you know, we are putting it up to this: (and here I want to ask you another question) Only members will be able to get readings. Do you think that’s right or wrong?

R4. 4/30/27 (Saturday) [4586]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I don’t believe I could say - totidem verbis - how delighted I was to receive your note of the 26th, and although it was not the usual length, I was complimented by the two questions which you put to me in your letter! O, I’m getting ahead of myself again! Let me answer your note in the proper sequence!

About my reading, only the other day something came up which was “unsavory”, as you put it, but I tried harder than ever to “not see it”. However, I don’t believe it is in my make-up to “not see” too many things! ‘Nuf sed!

So the application has been filed for the charter! That’s perfectly wonderful. And, you are in the market for someone who knows how to write the right sort of article when the charter is granted! Maybe I can enlist the services of someone who is really capable. My! I wish I were “up to it” - but - I’m at your command! How’s that?

And then we come to the Membership! Shall members ONLY be able to get readings? You ask whether I think this is right or wrong! I have turned this over in my mind several times, Mr. Cayce, and, in my opinion, I cannot see where it is wrong, because this Institution would be very much like and Society or Club, where, in order to take advantage of the privileges afforded by it, it is necessary to become a member! And, in this case, in order for one to secure a reading, it would be necessary to become a member of the Institution, and which would give the Institution financial fortitude. Of course this would mean an UNLIMITED membership! Then again, if the membership were LIMITED to a given number, in order to perpetuate the work, some provision would have to be made that members could get readings for others, upon application. I think, Mr. Cayce, that the former idea is the best - people, in order to secure readings, should become members!

Maybe I should have reserved my opinion until I heard more of your programme - but if I am wrong in my idea as above, please tell me more about your plans and give me another chance to answer you. Won’t you?

I have just received a telegram from my chief requesting me to be prepared to make a trip up to the factory at Massachusetts next week. He asks me to plan on spending three days up there, during which time we are going to go over some very extensive sales plans. I’m quite enthused about this because this is the first time he has ever had “the female of the species” in on sales conferences. (I would not have been at all surprised if he would have told me to come camouflaged as a man!) He is quite a puzzle. He is a great admirer of women but he sort of limits them in some respects. He seems to look at me through different eyes, though. It rather amuses me! I will tell you more about it when I return.

This is getting to be one of my “chatty” letters again, and I’m forgetting that you are busy - too much so to digest all this talk, so I’ll close this for the time being and look forward to hearing from you REAL soon!

Dear Miss [4586]

I have yours of the 30th.

Well, I’m glad to know that there are things in your reading that put you on your guard. You have come to be very much like Dave, “Well, if a reading just makes me know what to say, or how to act when things come up, why isn’t the reading helping me out?”

We haven’t heard from our application as yet, but I guess things are working out alright, for of course such things take time, and this being so unusual, of course it will require considerable investigation, no doubt. Well, when they go to investigate, there are some people that were here for a reading yesterday afternoon - I hope they’ll go see them - that is, if they talk to them like they did to us, after we got through with it. Then man [3845] said in part, “Well, I’ve been having this trouble for twenty years, and you’re the first person that has ever told me what is the matter, that didn’t pound around on me for a day or two, and ask innumerable questions, and then say “I THINK it must be so and so,” - but if you looked at me I didn’t know it.”

But we have had more people lately that are near by, or people that have come in themselves for the reading and listened at it. By the way, we have an appointment for one in Chicago, in New York, and several along the Jersey Coast, that are coming in themselves to listen at their readings sometime this month. Of course we’ll want more and more of that with the institution. Many thanks for your taking the time to express yourself as regarding the membership. While I think I rely explicitly on the information given in readings, I certainly like to have the viewpoint of those I feel are vitally interested in what I’m trying to do as respecting same. Many thanks for putting yourself at my command. It may be possible that I will spend the week end in New York in the near future. I may call on you when you least expect it.

Well, the chief is taking cognizance of your abilities, and while - as you say - he is wholly a man’s man, he’s not such a chump as not to see ability.

I had your letter too regarding the reading for your mother. I’m hoping we’ll get it in this week. I presume we would find her at the address given most any time, would we not?

Well, we might be SURPRISED to see you in Virginia Beach, but I assure you we would all be very much PLEASED to see you here.

I haven’t heard a line from Dave since he stepped off [got married]. I don’t know whether he’s coming by this way or not. He said he was on time, and some of them at his office seem to think so, but I don’t think he will.

Dear Mr. Cayce, I looked forward so much to hearing from you some time Monday, hoping that you had stayed over and I could at least have dashed down to the train to get a glimpse of you before you left!

How did you make out on your conference? I’m very anxious to hear all about it. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about the work, (by the way, he is quite monied) and I’m trying to interest him in the Institute. Wouldn’t that be nice if I could get his financial support? Tell me all about the programme so far, won’t you?

Please write me and tell me everything that you think I should know about your programme. You know I hold a very deep interest in you and your work and i would just love to hear all about it.

I did so want to see you and talk to you because there are so many things I believe I could say to you but hope we’ll have better luck next time. I had a wonderful week-end. We were up to the Westchester Biltmore at Rye and at Briar Cliff Manor on Sunday. I reached home about 7:30 Sunday nite and if I had known where to get in touch with you I would have ‘phoned.

R7. 5/27/27 EC’s letter:

Dear Miss [4586]

Many thanks for yours of the 18th. You know I did want to see you and talk with you while I was in New York, but it just looked like I was hindered by some way of ever getting the opportunity. I tried to call you Monday, but the line was busy and I never did get to it any more. I wish you were coming down here on the 4th. Why don’t you send that friend of yours, or better still BRING him -

Now I’ll tell you all about it - though of course I can’t, but I’ll try to tell you enough that maybe you’ll get the idea.

Well, I went for a conference, but as usual when I get with Dave and Morton it’s readings for as much time as they can keep me asleep - and on Saturday we certainly had a house full when we had the reading. However, it seems there are several of those that are interested and possibly that is as good conference as we could have had. As I wrote you, the State granted us the charter, which necessitates our having the organization meeting within thirty days. We are holding it on the 4th of June. Can’t you be with us?

Now, I reckon you think I’m a long time telling you about it

• now that is not any sign that I’m not anxious, though, for you to be here. Now the organization is the organizing of the Association of National Investigators, Incorporated. Our charter grants us the privilege of conducting schools, lectures, hospitals, and everything along that line. We are not entirely satisfied with our present arrangements for a physician. I am afraid our physician is not as heartily in accord with the work as one should be - possibly I misjudge the man. I’m afraid he is a bit mercenary, for the work we are trying to do. However, please remember I’m talking to you and not for publication. Just what will be our first step is hard to say. I just hope though that we’ll get off on the right foot. Of course the institution is my hobby, but I don’t merely mean HOSPITAL when I say institution. But I think you should bring that friend of yours down to the meeting on the 4th. I think now there will be Morton Blumenthal and his wife, Eddie and his wife, and Dave and his wife. The wives, I suppose, will do the talking, and the men do the work. None of the wives, as I know of, are to be officers in the Association. That will depend upon future developments. We want the names of the original founders put on our memorial plate. I sure hope we’ll have yours and your friend’s both on that plate - a bronze tablet up over the hall fount. But, so much for that! However, I guess you would think that about all that I’ve said is that we’ll have a meeting and maybe a fount with some names on it.

I was real sick two or three days after I came back from New York. Consequently got behind with my correspondence, my work, and everything - but I’m feeling pretty good again, and I hope everything will be better now.

I’m certainly glad to know your mother was pleased with her reading. I feel sure as she gets started on her treatment that it won’t be long before she’ll be feeling lots better. I’m sure she will.

I don’t think I have received the letter from your sister [4585] as yet. Possibly I’ll find it in the mail before I get through. Of course I don’t ever overlook one of yours! How’s that? Not very good?

I’m sure you had a wonderful week-end, but I was certainly sorry that I didn’t get to see you. Certainly would have been hard to locate you that Sunday night, for we were out with the Doctor to dinner, and then drove I think over most of the East side of New York.

R8. 5/31/27 (Tuesday) [4586]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I was worried about you! Dave ‘phoned me the other day and said you were not well, and since I did not hear anything from you I was very much concerned. However, your letter would indicate that you are feeling quite yourself again, and, of course, that makes me happy!

O, I’m so proud of the results I have had from your reading. Firstly, from the physical one. I believe I have improved wonderfully, and you just wait until you see me! I’m feeling nicely and, in my opinion, looking the part! Now, don’t mark that down to the “Conceit” Column of my ledger! When I feel well I look it - and when I look it - I know it! Mother has remarked so many times that I have improved wonderfully.

Well, you were no more disappointed than I was that I didn’t see you on your last trip. I just felt “out” of it and I’m not going to let it happen again!

I’m crossing my thumbs and wishing that I can get down to the Beach for June 4th. The time is the least part of it because I can make it nicely. Dave mentioned it the other day when I was talking to him, but his plans are always SO uncertain that I don’t pay any attention to them. However, if I can make the proper arrangements, you’ll see me down there, and anyone else I can bring in that may do some good. Sh!

Yes sir, I want my name on that fount! and I expect to be an officer - if capable. Is that putting it strong enuf?

About the physician, that doesn’t hold up matters any, does it? I do hope that he IS in accord with everything concerning the work, otherwise I can’t conceive how it will work out with him.

I guess you didn’t receive a letter from my sister [4585].

The evening of the day I wrote you I asked her whether she did write, as she threatened, and she told me that she could not get to it that day, and I haven’t heard anything about it since. I won’t attempt to ask her again until she speaks about it to me.

R9. 6/10/27 [4586]‘s letter: [First part had to do with reasons why she was unable to get to the A.N.I. meeting on June 4th.]:

How did the meeting pan out? I’m anxious to hear what’s what. Maybe I can come down and help in the organization of it.

How? Well, things are absolutely winding up down here and I think it’s best that I pull out. I’m quite resigned to it now and I believe I am “applying knowledge” in the right way when I take this stand. I have talked to a few people I know down here in New York and I am putting a few irons in the fire, with the hope that I connect with as good a position, if not better. You see it is difficult for me to get the right sort of thing because I have attained something here which is not so easy to duplicate.

R10. 6/11/27 EC’s letter:

Dear [4586]

Yours of the 10th just to hand. I don’t think we’ve gotten through missing you yet, for in fact we’ve been expecting that you would walk in - but when you didn’t show up on Sunday Afternoon, we suspected something had gone wrong and you passed us up for better company - no, that isn’t a nice thing to say, but you can’t keep a fellow from thinking that way that’s been depending on a body!

No, our first meeting was really a success. While there were not as many people present in person as we would have liked, but all expect a few answered in proxy, and I think we got started off in the right shape, and laid some plans for some definite work, and we will of necessity have to have another meeting before the first of August. Whether this meeting will be called in New York or Virginia Beach, I don’t know just yet. I’m sure it should be in Virginia Beach, for it is to consider the purchase of property - or I’d better say lot

• and the selection of the plans and specifications for the erection of the institute - library, and lecture room; or, in fact, as the readings give it, build a library and a lecture room, and the institution around it. So we’ll be calling on you again to be on hand sometime in the near future. We are trying to get all the data together and have it printed while I am taking a little much needed rest, for I haven’t been feeling the best in the world lately and have had two or three spells that haven’t made me feel good. Who wouldn’t fall out, though, if they had begun to realize a dream of thirty years? Yes, I think we will drive - if the little flivver will take us - to Kentucky for a few days, going by way of Washington, and returning by way of Knoxville. Yes, I received the note from your sister - sorry I had to tell her we would have to wait until we got back before making the appointment. We had been intending to get away today or Monday, but we had someone to come down from New York for a special reading today - a Miss [778]. Have you heard Dave speak of her, or have you met her? Then Morton phoned us that he was sending some special work that he wanted the reading’s correction or verification on before we carried it to the printer. As soon as I get back, why I’ll write you again, sending you copies of all the data that we have - then if you have any fault to find I want you to “spill the beans” right.

So you are making arrangements to wind up! I’ve been expecting it. When you take on those larger responsibilities (which apparently won’t be so large at first, but they will possibly grow as time goes along), why I hope you’ll have time to consider our work from the many different angles and help us out from time to time.

I don’t understand why you didn’t hear from those people in Los Angeles [re radium pad for her mother’s treatment]. I certainly would write them again, because she needs that vibration for her system, which is necessary if she gets her normal equilibrium.

I’m glad you liked Mr. [3904]‘s reading too. I just wrote to him a few days ago. I thought it was fine! and I think he’s on the right line, and wrote him that I though it was such that he could apply it in a very definite way. I hope he succeeds in doing so.

Yes, you may possibly be right about being able to see others better than we can see ourselves. You know sometimes we are so close to a thing that we can’t see what’s just on the other side. That’s why when a real friend properly tells us of our own faults and shortcomings they are our real friends. And that is also why when a good friend pats us on the back, and tells us “I’m for you!” it does us so much good.

Yes, Hugh Lynn’s home, and is about to have a fit to get started going.

R14. 8/11/27 EC’s letter:

Dear [4586]

I feel so conscience stricken for not writing you long before this, that I wonder if you will overlook my shortcomings at this time and not feel you have been neglected when you shouldn’t have been. Somebody has said, I believe, that with friends explanations are not necessary, and with others it doesn’t make any difference.

But there are so many things I would like to say, that I hardly know where to begin. It was bad indeed that I didn’t have the opportunity to get the reading for you when you wrote me at Hopkinsville - but we were unable to get anyone to write anything, as of course Miss Gladys went to Alabama and was not with us - and it would possibly have been worse trying to get it and not having it written than not getting it at all. I understand though from Morton that you have made considerable change, and I surmised from your letters that you wold be at home and possibly were considering something else.

We had a mighty nice trip, and I guess it did us all a lot of good. The only thing is that we have had so much on hand since we came back that we haven’t attended to more than half of what we should. So many things of so many different natures, that it has been very hard to know which ones to try to attend to first - and maybe be neglecting the very ones that we really should be attending to. But I’m in hopes that before very long you will take the opportunity to get down to the Beach again. We would all like to see you, and like to know what you think about all of our plans and so forth.

I’m in hopes the reading that was gotten for Mr. [4391] will be very helpful - for, as you suggest in your letter, (it is reflected also in his reading), he is very much in need of some real optimistic thinking, and I am in hopes the information as gotten will be helpful to him along that line. I would like to know just what you think of it and how he reacts to it also.

This I don’t intend for an answer to your letters, but rather to establish communication again, as it were - and I’m in hopes that we will be able to get everything straightened out real soon.

Hugh Lynn has been quite busy since we got back. We’ve had lots of company - my wife’s brother was here from Texas. He has three boys - they’re all nearer Edgar Evans’ age though than Hugh Lynn’s - so Edgar Evans has been having quite a wonderful time. I’m sure he misses them since they are gone

• but two of the boys from Hopkinsville that Hugh Lynn has grown up with have been here since we came back - and they have all been quite busy. So you see I have been having my hands full from all sides.

R16. 9/5/27 [4586]‘s letter telling about a vacation: “No doubt you are interested in hearing something about my business. I have a rather attractive connection with a very fine firm in Wall Street. One of the members is a friend of my old chief. Of course it is not quite like my old position but I could not hope to sit right into anything like it offhand, so I must exercise a little patience and wait until it develops or until something else crops us that will be just what I am after!”

R17. 9/7/27 EC’s letter:

I don’t wonder that you didn’t recall whether you answered our last letter or not, after making you wait so long before we did answer - and then going away and having such a nice time. Anyway, we all realized that you didn’t write.

I’m sure you must have had a wonderful trip, from what you say. I have had a longing to go up in the mountains of Vermont and New Hamshire, especially after may one summer and spring experience in the mountains of New York. They are gorgeous - beautiful! I’m in hopes some of these days I’ll have the opportunity to get up there. I’m glad you had the trip and I know you feel better for it.

About the work of the Association, I am hoping that I’ll be able to come to New York for a few days sometime this month. I hope then to be able to better tell you about what is going on and what our plans are than I can by letter. Sufficient to say that I am going to try to make a special drive for memberships and contributions for the Association in the next thirty days, that we may go right ahead with our building program. So, if you think that will be the right plan, get just as many of them lined up as you possibly can, and I hope I’ll be able to come up and “knock ‘em over”. How will that do?

I am certainly glad to know that Mr. [4391] is feeling a whole lot better, and that he has a different outlook on life. That alone will be worth a great deal to him.

We are taking the reading this afternoon for Miss [4585] and I’m in hopes we will be able to offer some suggestions that will be helpful to her.

We were agreeably surprised to have a letter from you. We wondered what in the world had happened that we hadn’t heard for so long, but we realize that others can be just as busy as we are and don’t have the opportunity to write as often sometimes maybe as they do - but we were right glad to hear from you again.

Certainly glad to note that you have a very desirable connection, and I am sure that it will be the stepping stone for something more desirable. I’m just hoping it all works out fine and dandy.

Yes, I have been considering coming up for some weeks now, but it hasn’t seemed exactly the right time. I don’t know whether I am slipping within myself as to making decisions, or just what is in the way, but I suppose we all come to those places once in a while where we apparently lose some of the grip on ourselves and don’t know just which is the right way to make the next move. In some ways and manners things have been going along most satisfactorily. While we haven’t been setting the woods afire, still we have applications coming in every few days for membership. Some of course take a stand against the Association - but we are moving along towards the goal we have set before us. Some cause discussions and dissensions that are quite bad, I think, at times - but all in all many are very faithful and I am sure will eventually work out in the proper way.

Everything is just in readiness for us to let the contract for the actual erection of the building. The site is in beautiful shape for the work, and seemingly we have a great deal of interest in same both locally and in other parts - yet not quite sufficient financially to push the thing over right now.

No, I have not heard from Dr. Heimlech [her dentist]. No doubt I will.

Everything is going along very nicely around the house. All fairly well. Edgar Evans has been having a little trouble with his throat and head, and - as he took cold Sunday when we drove to Richmond to spend the day with Hugh Lynn (and it is not a pleasant day outside today). He is staying home today - but I think is coming along alright. All the rest are pretty well. At least able to go to the table every time it’s set.

Hugh Lynn was looking fine. Says he’s working pretty hard, but has gained some ten or twelve pounds since he’s been back in school.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

How-do-you-do?

Sorry I did not see you before you returned home but it seemed rather impossible. However, you were in my thoughts right along - every minute.

We had a very nice meeting the other evening at Morton’s house. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Brown - and indeed it was a pleasure!

This is strictly a business letter, so I had better be careful that I do not incorporate a lot of “chatter” and get off my trend of thought. You undoubtedly know that I was elected Secy and Treas of the Club [A.N.I. Study Group - N.Y.] - so this is my first business letter to you!

At the meeting we tried to come to some sort of a plan for our next meeting - what should be discussed, etc., and it was suggested by Mr. Brown that we secure from you the reading which was given sometime in 1924 in Dayton, Ohio, relative to How the Forces Operate [[3744] series], etc., etc., which would be read to the members and would give us sort of a foundation to work up on. I hope you will be able to determine, from this brief description, which reading I refer to, and send it up home to me just as soon as possible. Mr. Brown said if you are unable to locate this reading, he will try to assist when he is in Virginia Beach, but I hope we can locate it through you just as soon as possible.

I will send you a separate letter about myself real soon.

Replying to yours of the 16th - it seems rather unique to write to you in your official capacity. I was very much disappointed at not seeing you at the meeting.

Now, regarding data for the Study Club, I am sure there is a great deal of data on hand, and possibly if it was gone over thoroughly a great many of the questions that will arise in the minds of the members of the Study Club, as the information here sent is read, would be found to be answered

• but, possibly the greatest good will be obtained by studying the phenomena itself; that is, as we have here practically the first information that was asked from the sources themselves, as to what the work was, that is being covered by that being attempted in the work being attempted at the present time; so, if individuals study this, get their own reaction, and then gradually see - through the various lessons that will be presented - the manner in which the Forces themselves answer these same questions, and bring out comparisons to show it, they will get more out of it.

Now, I have the data that Mr. Brown suggested. It, however, has been gone over so often that it is compiled in a little bit different shape. This sent you, however, is the first time it was ever approached, asking how, and why, and what it was - and in the prelude I give you why. I’m in hopes it will be what you want.

To be sure, we will want to have a copy of the Study Club’s conclusion - possibly this may cover many lessons, if I don’t miss my guess!
