This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the Douglas T. Johnston home in Harbor Acres, Port Washington, L.I., N.Y., this 13th day of November, 1934, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [601], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Gladys G. Johnston and her children”s governess.]
Time of Reading 12:10 to 12:15 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. …, Michigan. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
-
As we find, we have acute conditions arising from a congestion and exposure of the body under conditions when there were too much of potashes active in the system at those periods of the eliminations and activities; which has produced the attempt in the body to eliminate poisons through the respiratory and perspiratory system. And we have a rash!
-
Take Atomidine in small quantities but often; that is, about three times each day for three or four days, three drops in half a glass of water.
-
Bathe those irritated portions of the system with a weak solution of salt water.
-
And dust same with a good powder, as we find would be well in that of the Stearate of Zinc in talc with Balsam.
-
These will overcome the conditions.
-
But there is the necessity of taking precautions about the diet.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 10/14/34 GD’s note to Mrs. [601]: “Tell [480] to stick to that alkalin diet list; mostly fruits and vegetables.” [See under 843-1 Reports.]
R2. 11/17/34 Mother [601]‘s ltr.: “I called [480] yesterday to find out how she was feeling. The rash is still quite itchy and annoying. She is as careful with her diet as one can be away from home. I would appreciate a list of foods containing potashes, or what combinations cause this chemical to be formed, so that she will understand to eliminate same from her diet.
“The haziness is still with her and is a definite hindrance to doing any definite work at school, but am hoping the next period will show an improvement in that direction, as her general physical condition is on the improve…
“The case study in the Nov. Bul. (quoting 951-1 and 951-2) was very interesting and proves more and more that the glandular system is really the controlling factor in the human body. If only the medical world would cooperate with your ability to delve into this little known about source of sickness and disease. Let us hope someone will be found soon, who will have COURAGE enough to utilize your ability to help the scientific world to a greater knowledge to help people to better health and understanding.”
R3. 11/21/34 Mother [601]‘s ltr.: “Spoke to [480] Monday morning and she said the rash and itch were lessening.”
R4. 11/21/34 Miss [480]‘s ltr.: “I was sorry I had to take up your time with a rdg. for me - but I was and am still quite anxious about this rash. I have been treating it for a week as you advised but it seems to be spreading. I have been having some difficulty with my diet that is, I cannot have enough of an assortment of fresh vegetables. Dr. Geo. E. Mickle, my osteopath here, advised my taking A.B.D. - a vitamin product prepared by Parke, Davis - this, he said, would supply the deficiency in food value usually taken care of by fresh vegetables. I’d like an opinion from you about that. Too, has this rash hindered my improvement? I have been doing some horseback riding - is that alright for me? Any time you set for an appointment will be convenient for me. The haziness still persists - will it remain much longer?
“Dr. Mickle would like some of your literature. Will you send him some after you return to Va. Beach?
“P.S. I’d rather Mother didn’t know about our correspondence, she worries about me so.”
R5. 12/1/34 Mother [601]‘s ltr.: “[480] came home Wed. for the week-end and is coming along fine. The rash is gradually going away and the itchiness is not quite as bad as it was.”
R6. 12/16/34 Miss [480] requested Physical Reading for Miss [783], also 601-6 for her mother, submitting questions for herself: “Is the A.B.D. good for me? I am improving steadily - I have had a few headaches but they are not as severe. My stomach is not in good condition - what can I do for that? How are my teeth? Should any be extracted?
“Thank you for being patient with me - and for taking your precious time while in N.Y. to write me a letter.”
