This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 15th day of February, 1934, in accordance with request made by the mother, Mrs. [601], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:10 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Detroit, Mich. (Physical Suggestions)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [480].

2. Now, as we find, the conditions show some improvements in the general physical forces of this body. There are the indications that in the superficial circulation there is the attempt of the system to eliminate poisons that are not assimilated from those factors in properties that have been taken that do not assimilate for system, yet these poisons are much better; rather being shown as a rash or a roughness to the exterior portions of the body than producing irritation in either the stomach or in the activity of organs or glands.

3. There has been the tendency for the too quick a suppression of those eliminations that have been indicated from the periods. These are necessarily to be reduced, but this we would do better by the use of the manipulations osteopathically, that may adjust or bring the coordination of influences in the system and let the body itself make the proper adjustments; hence doing so without producing too great a strain upon any portion of the body.

4. There is the tendency for the dizziness and mental haziness at times, especially just before or during those periods. This, as we find, is the lack of coordination as we have indicated, and it is better that the body rest and balance self before attempting any great amount of mental exertion; though the social activities and the physical activities should be kept as near normal as possible.

6. (Q) How long before the body may return to school? (A) As we find, it should be four to six weeks longer.

7. (Q) Should general osteopathic treatment be continued? (A) General osteopathic and more specific as we have indicated for making the association of the sympathetic system with the cerebro-spinal in the lumbar and sacral areas, and be not unmindful of those that are as touchstones, as it were, in the activity of the genitive organs and their associations with the general system, from the coccyx area also - the end of the spine, see? Coordinate these with that general manipulation as given in the hypogastric and pneumogastric area, or in the upper dorsal and cervical; for these must be coordinated WITH these reactions to the brain, see? Do that more as specific applications by one making the manipulations. These will be found to be very tender, close to the end of the spine.

8. (Q) Any other changes? (A) These are the ones we would suggest in the present. Keep away from the properties taken for the easing or the suppression of the activities of nervous system. We would continue with those that supply the gland activity, for which we find that the Tonicine would be better than some of those things that have been taken.

9. That is all the questions regarding this body.

R1. 3/14/34 Mother [601]‘s ltr.: “I wish to thank you for the ck. rdg. of 2/15th, also the Bulletins of Feb. and Mar. which were extremely interesting.

“I wish to inform you of [480]‘s progress. It is very slow, as you noted in the 1st rdg. [480-3], and for the past 6 wks. has been under the care of a gland specialist and also continuing the osteopathic trs. as directed in your 2nd rdg. [480-4].

“The sore and tender spot at the end of the spine developed into an abscess or cyst this past Sat. and the pain was so severe it had to be opened yesterday to relieve the pus. I would appreciate your advice about this condition.

“The periodic pains have lessened considerably and the general health is fair, but the mental haziness still is there.

“I am enclosing my contribution with deepest gratitude and appreciation for your help.”

R2. 4/14/34 Mother’s ltr.: “When I wrote to you a mo. ago it seemed to me that there was an improvement in [480]‘s condition, in comparison to that when I asked for the rdg. [480-3] in Jan. Since I have written to you, [480]‘s condition had not improved as we had hoped. Dr. Marinus, a gland specialist, had been taking care of [480] from 1/24 until 4/2nd. I had shown him the rdg. hoping he would be guided by same. For a time [480] would react and after the effects of his injections would wear off she would suffer severe headaches and nausea about every 3 wks. A wk. ago last Wed. (4/4th) she suffered a severe headache and nausea which was not relieved until an attack of vomiting. I decided then that Dr. Marinus was experimenting and in the dark as to the cause of [480]‘s condition and have not visited him since. He advised against Tonicine as it would conflict with gland extract he was giving [480]. During all this time [480] has this mental haziness, a sort of veil over her mind which makes it so difficult for her to concentrate, and tires her physically and mentally. [480] feels that if this haziness, this cloud would clear she would feel wonderful, but trying to break through makes her tired and irritable and nervous.

“She had been taking the osteopathic trs. faithfully for over two months, but refused to continue as she felt they were not helping her. At present she is taking the Tonicine (a teaspoonful 3 times a day) together with some Thyroid as her blood pressure was quite low which causes her to feel very pepless.

“If there is any suggestion or advice you can offer at this time to help overcome this mental haziness I would be deeply grateful, as Mr. [619] and I are almost insane with worry to know what to do to help her, as the physicians do not seem to understand what is the cause of [480]‘s condition.

“She looks well and has not lost any weight. She does not sleep very well, as it takes her hours until she does fall asleep. She is careful with her diet, and has proper eliminations every day. Should you deem it advisable to give another rdg., please send a telegram collect advising the time convenient to you and [480] will be at home during that time… Do you think a motor trip would be advisable as a change for [480] about the end of this month?”

R3. 4/21/34 Mother [601]‘s ltr. verifying the appointment: “At the doctor’s suggestion we had an x-ray taken of [480]‘s head which showed cloudiness in the right sinus. Could that be a cause for the haziness?

“[480] has been taking the Tonicine regularly for the past 8 days and the doctor has been giving her Adrenal Cortilan injections twice a week to bring up her blood pressure which had been quite low. Since she has been taking the Tonicine and these injections she hasn’t had the headaches she suffered previously and seems to have more energy.

“The haziness is always there and the doctor admits he does not understand the cause of this condition.

“She does not sleep very well. I sincerely hope the rdg. will help to analyze the cause and means for dispelling this haziness and help [480] to regain her health so that she can continue her studies.”
