This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 4th day of October, 1924, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading 11:40 A. M. Dayton Time. Bosque County, Texas.

1. GC: Now you have before you a well being drilled on the land of Madison Byron Wyrick in Bosque County, Texas. You will give the present depth at which they are drilling, the formation and the character of formation they will find in drilling deeper, the production that they will obtain of oil or gas and at whet depths. Tell us regarding the management and if this is the best location to get the best results.

2. EC: Yes, we have the land and well here. These lands we see we have had before. The location in which they are drilling is nearly seventy-six (76) feet to the South from the better place to have drilled. At the present time we find the depth from ground six hundred eighty-two (682) feet, drilling in lime shale, and some water stratas will be encountered soon; not over heavy and may be taken care of around the seventeen hundred (1700) foot depth. Not too good a job of this casing as set, should have been sacks and packer used in cutting off the water here - five hundred ninety (590).

3. As to the formations below, we will find shale and lime, and limestone, with changing to more the red bed formation and sand and lime and sand, twenty-two to twenty-three. We will find more water twenty-two eighty-seven (2287), with hard lime below. Keep home large as possible to the twenty-five hundred (2500) and twenty-six hundred (2600) foot depth. Oil will be encountered at the twenty-nine eighty (2980), with the twenty-nine ninety (2990) production of three to thirty-three hundred (3300) barrels of oil per day. Location farther to the North from this we would not have encountered as much trouble in water strata, nor as much hard drilling.

4. Some contentions with the operators and the supervisors regarding the holdings and the tools being operated with. This may be handled if handled in the proper manner. This can best be straightened out with those that are supervisors consulting together with the management. Those that are far away, you see, and land owners, land owner and land owners also. With the present amount of hole made, casing set, we would continue in the present operation.

5. We are through with this at present.

My dear Mr. Wyrick:-

I’m enclosing you, herewith, copy of the reading as gotten yesterday on the well. While, apparently, not all of the conditions are as satisfactory as we might wish them, I believe if you could go down and go over the thing you’d get them all straightened out alright. I realize, however, from my own experiences in such, it’s a bad state of affairs when one has to begin to act in the capacity of mediator with a group of workmen. It seems though that, was this carried out, you would get the desired results in the end. I’m certainly in hopes that we’ll have no more trouble.

Certainly thank you for your suggestions as given, and I believe that will be the thing for me to do, just as soon as it is possible. I am, however, this week going to see some parties in New York and see if I cannot get some cooperation from them. Perhaps it’s a wild goose chase, and a loss of time that might be used to better advantage in other ways, still it’s making it possible for the young lady to get home. l She hasn’t been in a year. I think she deserves that trip. I don’t expect to do any work in New York. I have done all that I expect to do until we get some more definite understanding as to how we want this worked out, and I want to get them to cooperate with the people in Chicago. If they can’t do that, why then they are not very interesting to me.

I have had several very satisfactory letters from people in Chicago recently, some of them no doubt you’ve heard of. One or two of them I’m sure that needs some personal attention, and I could do a great deal better if I could see them once in a while. So, just as soon as I get back from this trip, by that time I believe Dr. Harriet will be about herself again, certainly glad to know the readings were in some ways a help. I certainly think a great deal of Dr. Robert and Dr. Harriet. I’m sure we can work well together, and I know that I have as many or more friends in Chicago as anywhere, then above all you, yourself, are there.

Haven’t heard anything from my friend Gumbinsky now a little more than a month. I’m not surprised at the outcome of the Woolen Mills as you sent me a clipping of the conditions [See Par. R2 below]. I wish I could have gotten something more for the help of the man who seems to be being railroaded [See 953-10 given on 9/10/24]. Some way it just interferes with the other work and I can’t help it. Perhaps we can get something sometime or another, if it isn’t too late, but I just can’t bring myself to believe that it’s the right thing to do to enter into any condition that interferes with the work of giving the diagnosis. Whether it’s a preconceived idea in my own mind, plain foolishness, or something that has to do with higher powers, of which we understand so little, I know not, but I do know it interferes.

I certainly want to thank you also for the enclosure, and I appreciate what you have done and are doing a great deal more than I know how to tell you.

R2. Newspaper clipping [no date]:

Boone Woolen Passes Dividend; Stock Drops

Omission of the quarterly dividend of 75 cents a share due at this time on stock of the Daniel Boone Woolen Mills caused the price to decline yesterday to a new low of 10 1/2. A rally at the close brought the price up to 11 1/8, representing a net loss of 3/8.

A statement by the directors after the meeting said the omission of the dividend was deemed advisable in order to conserve the company’s cash position. It was added that the company’s shipping facilities are being taxed to capacity by current business, which is the largest in its history.

My dear Cayce

I am on C & A for St. Louis and probably back to Texas. Just returned from there Saturday. Getting on very good with our well 2260. Sat. night picking up some water sand. Hope it will not amount to much for it will mean another casing. It is checking according to your readings. We have the labor troubles settled for time being. There had been some differences just as you said. Wish you would give me another reading on things to be done and precautions to take to guide us to production in safe manner. I know we are going to get a good well, but there is always a hazard danger points to be avoided. So if you will keep me informed I know we will have a successful finish. Mail reading to me Chgo. Will send you a check for it when I return. Hope your N.Y. trip was a success, and that everything is better with you.
