This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of December, 1925, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading Bosque County, 3:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Texas.

1. GC: You will have before you the well being drilled on the lands of Madison Byron Wyrick in Bosque County, Texas. You will give us the conditions of operations at the present time. You will tell us if they have removed the sand pump -

2. EC: (Interrupting) Got it on the way now.

3. GC: or how they may go about to do same, and what is the best thing for them to do regarding these operations

4. EC: (Interrupting again) Keep on drilling.

5. GC: at the present time, and any other information that will assure them of making a success of these operations and in making a producing well of same.

6. EC: Now, as soon as this is removed, then clean hole, see? and prepare the tools to string in and continue with the drilling operations, for in the next few feet we find we will encounter the production. This hole as is obtained on the sand pump will cause the cavings to show their activity, yet clean these out, see, and keep on with the operations, for we find, as given, there is production near and this may be made a producing hole in many places, yet would be best to drill into same, for the greater production would be obtained in that manner. Do that.

7. (Q) After cleaning hole, how many feet will they have to drill into production. (A) Seventeen (17) feet.

8. (Q) How near out have they gotten sand pump at the present time? (A) They only lack five thousand (5,000) feet now, see?

9. We are through with this reading.

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

I had your wire yesterday afternoon and your letter last night. I don’t understand the reading that we got. I just hope they have got hold of this pump and have it out, and I’m afraid though from this that they may have hold of it and can’t get loose from it. Anyway, it would seem like from this that they’ll soon be ready to be going down again, and as I said in my letter yesterday, I yet can’t help but believe that we will make a successful well, and I hope it’ll be real, real soon.

I don’t understand why you didn’t get the other reading, but I thank you very, very much for the information as you give and I’m in hopes that this will help out some too. Please let me know about it and you know if its reasonable I’ll be mighty glad to undertake this, even if its to get one every day until we get things going right. I know we did have one one time where they had three strings of tools in a hole, and worked on them for two weeks. We gave a reading on it and got all three of them out in less than a day.

We will get the physical reading tomorrow. I certainly hope we’ll find you getting along fine, on the improve. I certainly do appreciate your remembering me and I want to thank you. Hoping you’ll let us her from you real often, wishing you a Merry, Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year, with kindest personal regards from all,

R2. 12/22/25 EC’s letter to Riley Hurst:

Dear Riley:-

I was glad to have yours a few days ago and to know that things are going along pretty well with you. I’m in hopes that you will have the very best Christmas of your experience and that many much joy and happiness will come to you during the coming year.

Yes, Hugh Lynn and I would be very glad to be of help in the Arkansas matter whenever it is possible.

As regards the Rocky Pasture [[4905] series], my associate is still working on his well. I am in hopes that this is going to prove successful, though they have a very bad fishing job on hand at present. Should this be a producer, it will be the most unusual one, I’m sure, in Texas, for it is now by far the deepest hole ever drilled in Texas. In fact, I don’t believe the records show there’s ever been but one drilled deeper than this - but she has been running to the form and if they can overcome this we are looking for production pretty soon. Should this man work this out, he’ll want to go to San Saba County. I also met a man, a year or so ago, practical operator in Oklahoma [[4906] series]. He has been having his geologist go over the County for several weeks now. Haven’t had his report as yet. I also had another report, or request I should say, from a group of men in New York who want to drill a wild cat well, and they ask for information - regarding San Saba County [[5628] series]. I’ll let you know what becomes of any of these, if anything.

Things are just “kinder so-so” with us, but we certainly have a very great deal to be very thankful for. I’m in hopes that things will open up a little better soon and trust you’ll let me hear from you whenever you have the opportunity, and with kindest personal regards and Wishing you the Season’s Greetings,

Mr. Edgar Cayce 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I have your letter of the 21st with enclosure of readings of the 16th and 17th [4905-49 and 294-53], which were received in this morning’s mail. Had I received these readings at the time of your message of the 17th, I would have understood better your questions in the message.

I am sorry, indeed, that you are having some trouble, and that the present association is not functioning to your expectations or satisfaction. Without knowing more of the details, I would advise you that if at all possible, continue with the present arrangement for the time being, for it seems that the obstacles in the way of bringing in our well continue with such persistence that it might be months before we would have revenue from that source. Of course, you understand that if I am lucky in this venture, it is my intention to give you all the assistance possible in developing and sustaining your institute and research work, and that you will have no cause to complain of your participation in this and other fields that we may develop.

Answering your messages and letter, we are in grave difficulty and need your assistance very much. On Friday night the 11th of this month, the men had trouble with the sand line reel while removing bailer from hole which broke the cable and caused the bailer to fall about six thousand feet. The bailer that was being used is that known as the “sand pump” which, as you know, has a plunger or suction stem passing through it. This stem was out full length and is evidently hindering the placing of a socket over the bailer so that it may be removed.

I would like for you to advise just in what position the bailer rests in the hole; how far off bottom; what kind of a tool we had best use in grappling for same; if it is necessary to run the drilling tools first in order to break up caving and if there is caving on top, about how much? Is it best to continue grappling or start in breaking the bailer with the drill; in other words, drilling it out.

Who is the best man to conduct this operation? Be sure and give his name and that of others that should assist. In about how many days should we expect to have the bailer out, then how long will it take to clear or clean out to the bottom and how many feet of additional hole must we drill to the production.

Please give me this information as quickly as possible for most everyone is discouraged and we have about reached the end of our finances.

R5. 12/27/25 (Sunday) G. C. Martin’s letter to Mr. Wyrick:

Dear Mr. Wyrick:

We have all had a fine Xmas. Now ready for business. It came up a hard freeze last night and looks like it will be frozen for some time. Will have to bury the water lines before will be able to do much good for with weather at around 12 degrees to 16 degrees can’t do any good with water lines on top of ground.

The men said they would let me know about working for interest by the first of the year. Pat said if he felt able to work for interest he would be only too glad to do it, but since his wife had two operations in the fall of the year and his other home expense that it would be hard for him to meet his living needs without a salary coming in each month and I think the others will do as he does.

I thank you for the readings sent by Mr. Lovell. It is possible for anything to happen from the formations we have had in that hole and if it is greater than I have ever thought of it will be a whopper. The fishing job does not look hard, but its one of the kind that you can’t find the top of. I took a socket to Clifton yesterday and had a latch made in the wings, made somewhat on the order of a latch jack. So if the top of the rod ever gets up into the wings the latch will get it.

Looks to me that the friend of George LaBryn had the right idea when he said the top of bailer was in a hole (cove). I am also having a well hook made to run to try to get around the rod or top of the pump.

Pat has never been fully satisfied as to just how the pump is standing in the hole. He is afraid if they start drilling it up they may get the hole in bad shape so is of the opinion it is best to try a little longer. Just the last run Leach thought they were getting a change. Now if we can only get a few feet deeper I feel sure we will have our answer and all have the satisfaction of knowing we have accomplished the greatest thing in oil fraternity and be fixed up for all our future life and be able to do some real good in this old world.

Tell the boys I am willing to go on from now on without pay, but that I have done on just as little as I could and will do on less and try to stay and do my little mite toward getting our answer. Tell them also that it is a little hard on the men working on the well and having to pay board and upkeep of their families without a salary and that if each of them will only put in a little of it will help them along.

Here is hoping that this coming year may be the greatest one in our history and that it will be only a little longer until we all feel ourselves wealthy.
