This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of April, 1926, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Bosque County, Texas.

1. GC: You will give the conditions surrounding these operations at the present time, with suggestions for making a success of same. You will also tell us whether it will be necessary to run a string of casing before they can drill through this lime.

2. EC: Now, we have had these operations before, and those conditions as surround same as regarding that of making the success of these operations. These, as we see, may be made a success by the continuation of operations, as have been outlined.

3. As for the string of casing, as has been given, this would facilitate matters and insure the success more completely, were this run. The hindrance, as has been given, was the necessitating of such an added expense at the present time. As this has reached that point where this may be made possible, then this would be the better way to insure same, for, as has been already given, this may be used again, were same necessary; yet we find that, with the setting of the casing, there would be only a very short while before the production would be reached. The continual hindrance, as is brought about by the cavings, and by the trouble, or the picking up, or the hanging of tools, which brings a great deal of trouble, worry and expectancy of accidents or troubles, through this way and manner, would all be overcome; yet, as has been given, this may be cemented off and the completion until production reached WITHOUT the casing, yet taking more time and causing much trouble and worry; yet little more expense might be encountered by using casing and saving time, worry and trouble, than by not using casing, and keeping on in the present manner, as has recently been seen.

4. Then, as we have given, were it possible, set casing and drill through into production. This would insure the success of the operation. Ready for questions. (After pause) We are through with this reading.

R1. 4/13/26 EC’s letter to Mr. Wyrick:

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Yours received a day or two ago, with the request for a reading [Mrs. [4259]], also the enclosure, for which I thank you very, very, much. We will get this at the very first opportunity, though just at the present time we are rather dated up on readings, and have had several urgent requests that necessitated our immediate action, which kind of fills us up. I wish I was about two men.

As you will see from the enclosed, we included a reading on the well yesterday, for as you know, we are quite anxious about this and very desirous of being of help if possible. The information here seems to be very much along the same line as next to the last reading that we had, and naturally makes one a little bit anxious. I certainly hope they are going to be able to carry this out alright. For I feel very sure that we’ll have production, if we can just get into this lime deep enough. I certainly am in hopes its going to be possible for you to find time to get by here on your return trip from New York, for we would all be more than glad to see you and have you with us, even for a few hours. Apparently, the little booklets are causing some comments among the students of phenomena, and they are beginning to ask questions. It was to this group we sent out the first bunch. We hope to be able to gradually get them all out to the various ones who are, or have been, interested in the work. I want to thank you again for your kindness in attending to this, and for your interest and the like in what we are trying to do.

My dear Cayce,

Please pardon my delay in writing you. I have been on the jump since I wrote you before going to N.Y. I sure did want to run down to see you but after the week in Conferences I was very tired so decided to make you a visit later. Have had a lot to do since I came back. The reading you are giving the Chicago folks are very correct as far as I have been able to learn but they do not all follow the advice given. Wish when you have time you will review my case, am having trouble with my throat past month. Also I am not free of sugar excretions at any time. Will remit later. About the well. We have order 6000 feet 4 3/4 casing. Will be delivered in about three weeks. Cost $6350 delivered. Might tell me where to get money to pay for it and how to set it successfully so that we may go by the obstruction and drill in to the production. Hope you and family are well. R4. 5/7/26 GD’s letter:

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

The other day [May 1st through May 6th?], at the beginning of a reading, we got these words: “We have oil in the well that’s here. Well’s coming in the 17th - Monday.” We asked, or tried to ask, some questions, but it went on with the other reading without saying anything more. We have just been hoping that it referred to OUR well, which I’m sure it must have.

Mr. Cayce received word that his mother is very ill and wanted to see him, so he left rather hurriedly this afternoon for Kentucky. He told me to write you and tell you of the above information, and that he was expecting to hear that the well is in at that time. He also said tell you to let him hear from you. He expects to be back sometime the first of next week.

We are all doing fine here, and are having more requests than we have ever had, but of course when “The Boss” leaves it breaks up the INSTITUTE. With very kindest regards and best wishes from all of us, I am

R5. 5/12/26 Mr. Wyrick’s letter:

I just received a letter from Miss Gladys regarding the information that came during the reading last week. Very glad to get this and hope we are soon in possession of a big producing well. We have casing ordered which should be on the ground by the end of this month.

Sorry to learn of the illness of your Mother. Hope she has fully recovered.

Chgo., Ill.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

The printer who printed books and furnished envelopes on your last book - still has the form all set up and asked me if there would be any reorder. Mr. Wyrick said to drop you a line and see if you wanted any additional copies printed - the cost of a rerun would be about $100.00 for 2000 books and envelopes. Printer said in case you wished a rerun you could change the color of paper if you wished but the form would have to remain as is without change to get them at the low price quoted.

Will you please advise by return mail so that I may tell printer as he has considerable cash tied up in the set up. Kindest regards,

R8. 5/21/26 Mr. Wyrick’s letter to EC:

My dear Cayce

Glad to learn you and family are well and your mother improving. Received my reading an as usual it is amazing how correctly you describe conditions. There is no doubt in my mind I am indebted to your information for my existence today.

The casing has not arrived yet for the well. We will set it soon as received and drill in. Yours of 18 just received about the names of Mrs. C. Miller and Mrs. O. H. Miller. I do not know the name of Mrs. C. Miller will get it in a day or so. She is very anxious to get the reading. Mrs. O. F. Miller - her maiden name was Dee Norfleet. Sister of my wife.

Now I am going to request information I need very badly. Its a little out of usual requests. We have some very systematic stealing going on in the Telegraph Cos. affairs. There are two or more persons sending fake money order messages and collecting the money on them. They have recently paid on four at Chgo. branch offices. One at Cicero Ill one Joliet May 8th - one East St. Louis one St. Louis - one Kans. City one Tulsa Okla. - one Oklahoma City one Joplin Mo. Have not the dates. A party registered at Northington Hotel Chgo. - May 7 and 8 received one of the orders and collected at a branch offs. He registered as M. B. Hanifin. We think one at least is an employee in Chgo. Offs.

Dear Mr. LaBryn:-

Many thanks for yours of the 20th, and in regards the booklets I am sure we are going to want some more of these, as we are more than two-thirds OUT of the first print, and if you can ask the printer to hold up on this for a few weeks yet, we can let him know about this. I would appreciate it if you would find out for me if he will do this, and let me know about it.

Certainly am in hopes that they have gotten the casing at the well before this and have started it going in the right direction. I am certainly anxious to see something coming of that.

R11. 5/26/26 EC’s letter to Mr. Wyrick:

Now, as for the information you asked me to give, I think you would have to make this in the way of questions, if I could get it at all, but if you will get it in shape I will get it if it’s possible.

Certainly thank you for giving me the names of the Mesdames [[4356] and [4357]].

Mr. LaBryn wrote me a note about the pamphlets, and as I wrote him I know we will want some more of these, and asked him to ask the printer to hold these up for a few weeks, if he can do this.

The booklets that have been sent out are renewing the interest considerable with many, and naturally makes many more requests than we have had for some time. Then getting behind, why this causes the delay. We have appointments, I believe now, for the next three weeks.

Certainly hope that they have gotten the casing located and on the ground, and that they will soon be carrying on.

Glad to say that the last report from my mother indicates that she is constantly on the improve. I tell you - its certainly very gratifying to a fellow to know that he can be of help to his old mother; still, it carried with it a responsibility that is awe inspiring at times.

ANCIENT CITY OF PYRAMIDS FOUND IN SOUTH MEXICO

(Chicago Tribune Press Service)

Mexico City, May 26 - A prehistoric city, covering more than 100 acres and stretching over the top of a great flat elevation, has been found by a scientific expedition which left Mexico City two weeks ago to explore the country south of Mexico City and in northern Guatemala. The city has more than a dozen pyramids and immense buildings of cut stone blocks weighing many tons.

The type of the buildings indicates they were deserted before the coming of the Spaniards 400 years ago. The architecture, partially Zapoteca and partially Maya, indicates that they were built by people taking part in the two great cultures in southern Mexico.

Tradition says the city once was the center of an ancient civilization which disputed the power of the Mayas, but was destroyed 200 years before the discovery of America, when the Toltecs first appeared on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

Indians report several other ruins of great cities belonging to the same civilization further within the dense tropical vegetation northward from Tonaia.

Dear Cayce:-

Note the enclosed clipping [see Par. R12 above] from a Chicago newspaper; more evidence of the pre-historic civilization in the western portion of the west hemisphere as has been mentioned many times in your readings. I have seen numerous mentions of discoveries in Tibet, Mongolia and western part of the United States and South America, that all tend to substantiate the statement made in many of your statements with reference to ancient civilization. Sometimes in taking readings, please find out what was the mode of transportation and the kind of power used at the time of the gathering together of the representatives of the then inhabited earth, gathering to the call of the ruler of Egypt [[5478] series] in their effort to determine the relation between man and his God or the indwelling of the infinite in the finite being.

Regarding the information I asked for sometime ago in connection with dishonesty as is being carried on by some parties to secure money fraudently thru the money order department of the Telegraph Company. I will not, at this time, formulate a series of questions, for I believe you have sufficient knowledge of that which is desired to register thru to the subconscious mind during he period of some one of your readings so that the subconscious will involuntarily give the information desired.

Regarding the well we have not as yet received information as to the date the casing will be shipped, doing all possible to hurry this along.

Dear Sir:-

This will confirm our wire of this date advising that your car of 4-3/4” Seamless Steel Casing was shipped from McKeesport, Pa., on June 5th in car B&O #251625.

This car is consigned to Order notify Telegram Oil Company, Kopperal, Texas, and is routed in connection with the C&A and Santa Fe Railway.

We will trace this car to prevent any delay and feel reasonably sure that it will reach destination within twelve days from date of shipment.

R16. 6/7/26 G. C. Martin’s letter [excerpt]:

Pat thinks he is getting the crude oil smell in the well past few days while he is out in the Rig.

Cleburne [Mrs. Grains] says the oil is coming into the hole and that its only to get on bottom and clean up then we will have the stuff we are looking for.

R17. 6/9/26 George LaBryn’s letter to shareholders:

Morgan, Texas

TO ALL SHAREHOLDERS:-

It’s been some time since we have been able to pass along any information regarding operations at the well. We have attempted several plans to remove the bailer, or sand pump, lost early in December but failed; however, the drillers have accomplished the straightening of the bailer in the hole and have drilled about 15 feet past it, and then were compelled to stop. After going into every phase of the situation, the only plan left open was the placing of a string of casing all the way down, or 6100 feet, in order to insure the completion of the well. The casing was ordered, and is now on the way and should reach Kopperl, Texas, about July 16th. This will cost us close to 7000. and another 3000. to haul and have it placed in the hole. As to the prospects the following letter from Mr. G. C. Martin, Morgan, Texas, dated May 26th, 1926, is self-explanatory.

“I was in Cleburne yesterday. I met a Mr. […] who is a geologist, said he was with a bunch of Standard Oil geologists several years ago (He was only a young man at the time) - said its ONLY A MATTER OF DRILLING THRU THE LIME ON YOUR FARM. He is now working out South Texas. Said we have the big Companies puzzled for they thought a small company would never get down to the OIL, but that the Marlands’ field man told the office, looks like they are going to miss their guess for it looks to him like we are about to succeed. Said most of the big ones are talking Bosque County more than ever before. Said the Marland’s man said to him “What’s the use going down there as the Telegram Oil Company hold all the most valuable acreage, or have it tied so no one else could get hold of it now, and that the owners of the Company are a bunch of good sports to do what they have done.

“Pat called from Ranger. He found the calf wheel and crown blocks all steel. They will be here tomorrow.”

In addition to the above the Pure Oil Company thought so much of our prospects they offered our man the use of any casing they had in their yards without cost to us if any on hand of the size required by us. They had some, but on account of its condition it would not be safe to use. Marland Oil Company’s geologist, and several other companies’ geologists and practical oil men say that right under the black lime we are drilling in is where we can expect to reach the pay sand.

We dislike to be always asking for funds, but are compelled to do so. We wish to thank those who have been so faithful in sending in small payments each month. Lets all get together now - send in what you can spare, then follow it up a little later with more. We believe this will be our last appeal. It will take a good many small checks to make $10,000. Do the best you can. Hope the next report will be the final and the one you have all waited so long to hear.

TELEGRAM OIL COMPANY Morgan, Texas

Dear Mr. Wyrick:

Yours of 25th. I thank your for it as it got here in time to save me. You see we got the small tools - sand line was more than I could pay for and as it comes B L attached it takes the cash. I had paid for casing line and elevators for the 4-3/4” casing. We had to have a lot of stuff that all costs money, such as babitt tube oil, hard oil, packing connection and such like. I have tried to keep paid up.

We started up yesterday and found about 1500 feet of the drilling cable in bad shape, so I sent truck to Ranger last night for a new piece. It will cost $287.50 but it is not safe to run and it is not good business to take chances on the loss of tools at this stage of the game. The Supply people are sending this line on open account.

Pat is almost blind in the eye that got hurt. The Dr. says he can work Monday. Leach will come back any day - we need him altho he is getting 14.00 per day and they offer him a good [[Book of Job|job]] for the year at 14.00 day to go Amarilla but he prefers to stay with us so as to have a chance at the 40 acres bonus when they bring in the well.

You asked how long it will take to get casing set. The shoe and the joints are 5-1/2” on this casing, so its necessary for us to run a 6” bit down to bottom of the lost bailer so it may take some time on this. I shall keep you advised as we proceed with it.

I intended to say Moran would work Monday “in my message”.

The whole of the small tools was 375.00 but you had sent some over on casing draft - we had that to apply on it and a little over on Pat's salary. We may have to buy a new belt (500 more) for the one we have was a second hand one and it has stood a lot of grief.

I will owe some for truck and hands on casing.

Pat said tell you he will be careful with everything so that he may have the distinction of running the deepest string of casing and of bringing in the deepest well in Texas.
