1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [5504]. This we have had before. There is not a great deal of change since last we had same, save that of the conditions as have been given as the conception taking place. There should be, for the proper conditions to be brought about in the system, the administration of those conditions as have been outlined for the body as respecting how the physical conditions might be brought into their proper relationship one with another in the physical forces of the body, that THESE conditions might come about normally - else we may not expect for the full time, or for the proper developments for the mother and the offspring; for with physical defects there must come the continued dread, the continual ordeal of the FEAR - as brings the improper reflexes to all physical organisms of the system; while, with correction of these conditions through the manner as has been outlined - through the osteopathic manipulations, or through the masseur’s manipulations for the physical conditions - these corrections may be brought about and the portion where there is dread and fear in the system will be carried then to its NORMAL expectancy, AND there would be brought that which the BODY DESIRES in its inner self for the physical forces in self and of the offspring.

2. Then, DO as has been outlined, and we will find the better conditions for the body, and WITH these there will become the reduction of those troublesome effects as have existed with the system. We are through for the present.

R2. 8/29/30 EC’s letter to [5504]‘s husband: “Replying to yours of the 23rd, we will ask that you have Miss Anderson make the request for her reading direct. The membership to the Association is 10, and the reading is 10. Only members are given readings. Please ask Miss Anderson to write direct, and we certainly hope that we may be of service in some way or manner.

I certainly trust things are going the nicest kind for you. I would like to see you and talk with you.

R3. 1/12/31 Husband’s letter: “Some time ago the writer sent you a check for $10 and requested a reading on a Miss Anderson. You later advised me that you would prefer that Miss Anderson write in direct and request this reading. However, in the meantime Miss Anderson has completely regained her health and does not see fit to join your Association.

I requested in my last letter that you return my check but to this date have not heard from you.

I trust your Hospital is coming along in good shape and that you had a very prosperous year. I will also take this occasion to wish you every success in your venture for the year 1931.”

R4. 1/21/31 EC’s letter: “In answer to your letter of the 12th, I am taking this matter up with the New York office and hope to be able to send you a check in the near future. I am sorry there has been this delay, but I assure you it is unavoidable on my part.

Hoping that everything is going the very best for you, I am…”

R5. GD’s note: This was just prior to closing of the Cayce Hospital. All funds which had been sent in for appointments ahead were tied up in the Blumenthal office; no checks were issued except approved by his chosen accountant, etc.

R6. 1/28/31 EC’s letter to [5504]‘s husband: “We are at last enclosing check to cover the amount you sent for a reading for Miss Anderson, which she did not get. I am very glad to know that she has improved in health and no longer needs a reading.

Should we ever be able to be of service to you or yours, please let us hear from you.”

R8. 7/31 Mrs. [5504]‘s letter: ”…Over two years ago I had a reading by you, during pregnancy. Ever since the baby has been born have suffered complete exhaustion and backache. Have had many examinations and doctored continually without results.

“Will you please give me a reading as soon as possible stating my trouble and the remedy.

“Enclosed find check for $10.00 to cover reading…”

R9. 7/21/31 EC’s letter: ”…I am sorry indeed to know that you have been having trouble. Our first open appointment will be … If this is satisfactory, it will be necessary for you to let us know the exact address or location at which you will be during the hours set. It might also be well for you to send a list of questions to have asked in the reading…”

R10. 7/31 Letter: ”…Your letter of July 21st received stating you will be able to give me a reading July 30th between 3:00 and 5:00 o’clock.

“Be advised that this is satisfactory and I will be at the above address at that time.

“Regarding the questions, would like to know the following: The basis of my trouble and your suggested remedy. Cause of backache. Cause of itching skin. Cause of itching and sore scalp and falling hair. Cause of complete exhaustion. Cause of headaches at times. Cause and remedy of acid.

“Please give me remedies of above as I have doctored continually without results…”
