This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 105th Street & Ocean, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of July, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [5504].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5504] - this we have had before. Now, we find there are physical conditions as disturb this body much in line with that of which the body had been warned, that with the existent conditions in the cerebro-spinal nervous system, as related to the organs of genitation and to the pelvic system, there are pressures still existent in same that are - unless they are relieved - gradually bringing about those conditions which must CONTINUE to bring distresses, until the system adjusts itself in some manner or another - or the adhesions or lesions, or the impingements impoverish the organs until ACUTE conditions arise.

2. These conditions or subluxations as exist are in the lumbar, lower dorsal and coccyx region. These make for that pressure that produces the continual aching and bearing down pains across the small of the back just below the liver area, the heaviness in the feet, the sick headaches that occur, the loss of appetite, the nausea as comes at times from those regurgitations to the stomach proper from over-acidity - by tendency for inflammation in the pelvic organs, and in the stomach and the digestive system, the tendency to slowing up the activity of the colon in the eliminations through the alimentary canal; these are but RESULTS, or signs, or warnings to the body of the disorders as exist, and the effect as has been created by the dilating of the pelvic portions, pelvic organs, and the activities in same HAVE but ACCENTUATED those conditions as existed.

3. Now, in meeting the needs of the present conditions, we will find that by the gentle manipulations - and by the occasional adjustment of those conditions or impingements as exist in the lumbar, lower dorsal and coccyx region - these conditions will clarify themselves.

4. It will be found necessary that there be precautions taken as to the diet, that there IS the well-balanced, well-rounded diet for nerve, blood and body-building, especially sufficient of those of lime and of silicon, that there may be stamina in the system as the eliminations and drainages are set up for the corrections of the adhesions and lesions, and pressures, as have existed.

5. That there may be at times those pressures as will occur from spasmodic pressures, even when the treatments are begun, we would prepare this - but DO NOT take same unless the headache or the over-nervousness occurs, then it may be taken in half a teaspoonful in a half glass of water every two or three hours until the pain is relieved, or the body is able to rest. Prepare as this:

6. To 4 ounces of simple syrup, add:

Tincture of Valerian…1/2 ounce, Elixir of Calisaya…1/2 ounce, 10% solution Iodide of Potassium…10 minims, 10% solution Bromide of Potassium…40 minims, Tincture of Capsici…2 minims.

Do not take this unless there is the dull headache in the top of the head and in the temple, and the general overtaxing of the nerve system.

7. We would take the manipulations, osteopathically given. We would also have these at least TWICE each week, taking these for a period of three to five weeks - then REST two weeks, then begin another series of about the same period. By the end of that we should find a near normal physical body - [5504]. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) What is cause of itching and sore scalp and falling hair? (A) Improper circulation to those portions of the system. With the removal of the pressures along the spine, THIS - we find - will be MATERIALLY changed, and corrections will bring back a normalcy for the circulatory system. We are through with this reading.

R1. 7/30/31 EC’s letter to Mrs. [5504]: “We are enclosing the information which was gotten this afternoon. I feel that this is possibly self-explanatory, and that you will know just what the information suggests should be your next move to get the proper corrections and relief from the disorders that are at present troubling you. I understand that it will be necessary for you to get in touch with some good osteopath, who is at least somewhat in sympathy with the undertaking here. I do not know just how close these people will be to you, or just how convenient it will be for you to see them - but I would advise that you see Dr. Elisha T. Kirk, 20 W. Baltimore Ave., Media, Penna. - or Dr. Campbell in Philadelphia - I do not know his exact address. Either of these may be able to give you the address of someone, if it is not convenient for you to make your appointment with either of these.

“The prescription given, Mr. […] will be able to have this filled at any drug store without a prescription. This, you understand, is not to be taken except when you are in severe pain or an over nervous condition.

“I assure you it is our desire to be of help, and if there are any questions you would like to ask concerning the information, or concerning getting the suggestions carried out, don’t hesitate to write us.

R2. 9/4/31 Mrs. [5504] obtained a Physical Rdg. for her mother, Mrs. [5494].

R3. 12/20/32 Mrs. Jane McShane’s letter from Levering Mill Rd. & Bryn Maur Ave., Cynwyd, Pa., to the Cayce Hospital: “Your date of Aug. 23rd, 1930; [See 5504-2] I sent you thru Mr. […] [[5504]‘s husband] a check in the amount of $10.00 for a reading on Gertrude Anderson.

“Mr. […] [[5504]‘s husband] sent his check to you and several times since has asked for it’s return, when no reading or anything further was done in the matter. I believe you wrote Mr. […] [[5504]‘s husband] the address of Miss Anderson was necessary, and I said, if that was needed I had no faith in the affair and asked for the return of the money.

“Will you therefore either return the money to me or to Mr. […] for me, or I will take the matter up with the better business bureau.”

R5. 12/29/32 Letter from GD to Mrs. J. McShane: “Your letter of Dec. 20th, addressed to the Cayce Hospital, has come into my hands.

“The Cayce Hospital was closed in March 1931, and the Ass’n of Nat’l Investigators has since been dissolved.

“Having been Assistant Secretary of the former Association, however, I have access to the old records.

“I find that on January 28, 1931, the Association sent a check to Mr. […] in amount of $10.00, to cover refund for an appointment which Miss Anderson did not keep.

“Hoping you can get this matter straightened with Mr. […] [[5504]‘s husband] without any trouble.”
