This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of David E. Kahn, 44 West 77th St., Apt. 14-W, New York City, this 22nd day of April, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [558], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:45 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [558]; this we have had before.

2. Many, many changes are indicated in the physical forces of the body from that as we have had here before. Many changes have come to the body.

3. In the physical forces we find, while the general conditions are very good, there has been and is - from an acute condition of an element (been called the flu) - a spot or a condition in the lung, or in the BRANCH of the lung, the trachea, where there is a disturbance that makes for pains through the central portion of the chest; disturbs the circulation.

4. Though the general physical health keeps the body up, this makes for an irritation.

5. As we find, not all at a time but being consistent (else we may find there will be disturbances that may become very aggravating to the body), we would occasionally take small doses of Syrup of Squill. Do not gulp same, but allow to TRICKLE down, so that it will slowly pass through the throat. To be sure, it does not enter the portions of the system, but its reaction upon the system - taken in this way and manner - will be upon this portion of the organism in the impulses created by the activity of these forces or influences in the body. The dose would be a teaspoonful, sipped; allowed to trickle down. Take occasionally, dependent upon the distress in the area. It may be taken as often as twice a day, or once a day for a few days; then rest from it for a period and take again.

6. Be mindful of the activities of the body, in not over-straining same.

7. Keep in the open as much as possible.

8. These, as we find, would be the conditions in the present.

9. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) Is the pain in the shoulder caused by this condition in the lungs? (A) In the trachea.

11. (Q) In what condition is the appendix? (A) Needs CLEANSING by the use of the Simmons’ Liver Regulator, and this will make for clearances there. Preferably take it in the liquid. Take a teaspoonful at a dose until there is a full activity of and eliminations through the alimentary canal. Then take it whenever necessary. It should be taken rather in series, see? Take two or three doses one day. If these act properly, then a small dose of Syrup of Rhubarb combined with Syrup of Figs will cleanse the dregs from same without irritation.

Then, in the course of a week to ten days, take again.

Do these and we will bring the better conditions for this body.

R1. 4/22/36 At end of 558-5, just before waking up, EC said softly “Anne Hathaway.” [GD’s note: Could this mean that EC was seeing a past incarnation of Mrs. [558] as Anne Hathaway, wife of Shakespeare, of Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, England?]

R2. 5/28/36 “I have been feeling a lot better. I took some Squill in drops but it was hard to digest. The cough seems to have left. At any time when you are giving ck.-ups I’d be glad if you’d give me another rdg.”

R3. 6/6/36 “Ask as to the condition of my throat. Where would it be best for me to live and best for my family? Would I benefit by taking a course in designing and could I make use of it professionally? I am feeling a lot better now, although quite restless - but I suppose we all get that way some time or other. [257] will be in Va. in July. I wish I could come down for the Congress but [1565]‘s father [592] isn’t so well and we plan on going to Chicago next week to see him.”
