Date: 10/27/1934 Sex: F Age: 15 ReadingID: 4199
This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of October, 1934, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [605], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading … St., 4:25 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ky. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have those impressions and those conditions and applications for this body, [605], as we have had before.
-
Now, as we find, the general conditions are on the improve.
-
Those corrections that are necessary in the dorsal and cervical area will require time, as SOME of these have been existent for a long period of time. Had they been taken when first we advised it, HALF the number of treatments would have accomplished as much as - or more than - TWICE as many can accomplish at this time! Yet these are being done very well.
-
The diet is not being adhered to so well. Beware of hog meats, or fried meats, or any fried foods. Adhere more to the alkalin foods. Do not MIX citrus fruit with cereals. Either take one or the other, but not both at the same meal. Prunes are well to add to the morning diet at times; also fresh rhubarb or canned rhubarb, or pineapple juice - or the sliced or diced pineapple is well to add, too, at this time. Pineapple in the evening is well. Not too much of sugars or cakes or pies, but these in moderation. But be consistent!
-
Follow in those suggestions that we have made. Take at least two periods of treatments of three weeks each, (the adjustments) with at least a two week period between them, you see, before we would begin with any of the diathermy treatments again. However, as we find, these should be taken if we would rid the body of any of those tendencies that may make for accumulations. Be sure we have the eliminations regularly, and that the coordinations of all that being applied are consistent with the mental and physical attitudes and activities of the body.
-
Ready for questions. We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/1/34 Letter from EC to [844]: ”…Now, as to [605]:
“We got the information last Saturday, which I am sure she has before this, and I am writing her today, though the information, I am sure, contained possibly all that was necessary, but I want to impress her that it is necessary for her to follow the diet.
“I had a letter from Dr. Beard, telling me that upon examination she found in the spine and in the places indicated the trouble that was pointed out in the reading, and that she felt that she was going to be able to do a great deal of good for [605], and I hope she does…”
R2. 11/25/34 Dr. Beard’s letter to EC: “Your letter of November 2nd, received; I am afraid you will think I am very negligent in responding to your letters, but I have SO LITTLE time for writing these days.
“I hardly know what to say about [605]‘s case. The last three or four times she’s been here, she has stammered very little, if any. I really think she’s better. The lesion in the upper dorsal is a very difficult one to correct but I am working hard on it. I gave her eight treatments before I went away and twelve since I came back. Your first reading said, from 16 to 26 treatments. That leaves us six more treatments. I hope we can accomplish quite a bit in that time. I have given her two or three simple things to do; if she will just do them that will help her to overcome it. But I am afraid she doesn’t remember always to do them. I insist on her following the diet, but I am not sure that she’s doing it.
“I will be glad to see a copy of your Bulletin from time to time. The case reports you gave in your letter were very interesting. It seems to me that the Association, with the help of the physicians over the country are accomplishing quite a bit, and that you have a right to feel proud of it.
“I had a very nice trip, but I have worked so hard since I returned, that I feel ready for another one. If there are any suggestions you would like to make in regard to [605]‘s case, I’d be glad to have them…”
R3. 12/19/34 EC’s letter to Dr. Beard: “I regret very much that I didn’t get to see you on my recent trip to Hopkinsville, where I attended the funeral of my wife’s brother, Lynn Evans.
“But I appreciate very much what you are doing for [605]. While it was the first time I had seen the child since she was about two or three years old, from what all the family say and she herself, she is considerably on the improve.
From the first I felt you would have trouble in breaking up that lesion. I wonder if you have ever tried using hot packs prior to making adjustments? While the reading may not have suggested this, you might find it quite helpful - to lay over the area heavy towels wrung out of very hot water, for several minutes before making the adjustments; rubbing down the body afterwards with rub alcohol to prevent taking cold. Might I suggest that you try this, if it sounds like good judgment to you?”
R4. 12/31/34 Letter from [844] to EC: ”…[605] is much better I think. Do you want her to take the treatments from Dr. Stone again? She said that you do but I want to be sure and just how many, etc. She finished the last one with Dr. Beard before Christmas and I think she gave [605] two free treatments besides…”
R5. 1/7/35 Letter from EC to [844]: ”…It’s fine to know that [605] is better. I feel sure it would be better for her [605] to take another round of the diathermy treatments from Dr. Stone, as I think this was indicated in the last reading. This would almost insure the eradicating of the deep-seated trouble that has caused or been the basis of the disturbance, and would prevent other things coming on that might be troublesome unless the condition is entirely eliminated from the system. As I’m sure you recognize from the readings, this condition is no doubt that caused from the mother’s [4925] condition previous to the child’s birth…”
R6. 2/22/35 Letter from [844] to EC: ”…[605] is much better but so far we have not been able to give her more treatments…”
R7. 4/20/35 Aunt [844]‘s letter: “We think [605] is improving all the time, too, and we are all so very thankful for everything.”
R8. 6/4/35 “[605] does not seem to have much ambition and it is easy for her to learn.”
R9. 10/28/35 “[605] had to have her tonsils removed two weeks ago and seems very much improved.”
R10. 7/26/37 Miss [605]‘s letter: “I just wanted to send you a small check in token of my appreciation of what you have done for me…”
R11. 7/13/40 She got married, sending EC an announcement.
R12. 12/21/40 She wired EC about her grandmother’s death, the one who raised her. [Mother of Mr. [486]]
R13. 12/12/42 Aunt [844]‘s letter: “Edgar, I think you are wonderful - and you know, [605] never stammers any more. My own dear [486] is fine now, and [4632], whose case you read, is a new boy and has quit drinking. I have always hoped that someone would have you to read [1427]‘s case and maybe you have. He is so fine when he lets that stuff alone, and the most liked member of that family.”
R14. 4/20/55 Aunt [844]‘s letter: ”…About 20 years ago your father gave a reading for [605], who was [4925]‘s youngest daughter. For a long time she had stuttered very badly and sometimes her jaws would almost lock when she tried to talk. She now lives with me - has a wonderful husband and two darling little girls. She has always been very nervous (all the children and most of the grandchildren are) and lately is having a lot of troubles with stuttering.”
R15. 5/11/55 “So many thanks. It is fine that these records can be obtained.”
R16. 9/6/60 Letter from Mrs. Lena Jones Wicks [cousin of EC trying to get reports for HLC on early readings in EC’s home town - see first part of letter under 83-3 Reports].
R17. 5/31/60 Mrs. Wicks sent us [a] picture of the old Riverside Chapel, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where EC and GC are buried:
“Tell Hugh Lynn I read the four readings you sent me on [605] (I think) and you said when you sent them the FIRST reading was missing. [See 605-1]. That accounts for the statements I made that did not jive [jibe?] for him. THIS I KNOW - at the age of nine ‘no young lady goes to the field or garden to talk with any men engaged in farming or gardening.’ STRICTLY adhered to. Hugh Lynn will know what this means if he listens to the tape I gave him at the motel. [Later [605]‘s aunt asked that the tape not be used, since it was hearsay and could not be proved. She had told the story from memory and all other members of the family who knew of it had since died, but the fact remains that [605] did have an early reading of which we have no copy.
“[605] could use the Edgar Cayce readings now and benefit by so doing but she has cast her lot in another direction, not bad, but too many material things she might have to give up.
“Again I want to thank you and will be glad to help any way I can. I hope Mr. [[83]‘s father] follows up with his promise.”
“P.S. Since [605] was imitating Herbert Johnson, the colored gardener, PLUS other physical disorders, it happened before she was nine. I could not be sure of [605]‘s age, the first reading Edgar Cayce gave, just knew she was under nine. I rather think she was about six.”
R18. 3/1/66 Mrs. [844]‘s letter: “[605] now has migraine headaches three to four times a month. Please send the Circulating File on this ailment.
“I wonder if you still have a record of her case and, if so, will you have me a copy made and send, quoting the price. We would like for her to take some treatments as the record recommends. Will send you a check by return mail. Please reply as soon as possible.
“I often think of your father and the good he did for so many people, my husband, [486], included…”
R19. 8/26/85 GD’s note: Just rec’d card from [605]‘s cousin, D. D. Cayce III saying that [605] died peacefully 8/24/85, 5:00 P.M. “She was reading the paper, just dropped it and went on to other levels. She is released from this body that was painridden in this life. Her funeral is today. Thought you’d like to make a notation in the record to this effect.
Best wishes to you and all there at the Beach involved with the work.”
Love, D. D.
