This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of September, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [605], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hirn, Irene Hirn, Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Ladd, Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:25 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ky. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes (the mother, [4925], would help here also), we have the body here, [605]. We find conditions greatly improved in the body from that we have had here before. While all of that condition necessary to be eliminated has not been entirely eliminated from the system, through the applications of the diathermy to the centers along the cerebrospinal system and the burses as related to the organs of the system, it would be WELL in the present that these be discontinued - until the ELIMINATING CENTERS of the system are adjusted through the applications that have been indicated for the body. And then there may be the more of a coordinating way and manner set up in the body.
-
And we will find that the application for the adjustments, as we would find, should be specifically in the 3rd, 2nd and 1st dorsal, the 5th, 3rd and 2nd cervical, and the muscular forces along same coordinated with the rest of the general treatment; making - in the last of the treatments - specific activity to the throat, to the thorax, to the glands IN the throat - or the thyroids. Not that these are to be pinched in such measures by the treatments as to produce irritation, but rather as a stimulation for the circulation through the vocal box, and making for the better coordination to the centers as indicated to the activities of the sensory coordination with the cerebrospinal and SYMPATHETIC system. Hence those specific centers that should be adjusted in the dorsal and in the cervical area.
-
Do these.
-
And be mindful that the body overcomes that tendency of becoming frustrated; and this lisping and stammering will disappear.
-
And, best of all, those conditions that would cause after disorders will be eliminated.
-
After taking sixteen to twenty-six treatments or adjustments, two to three times a week, we would again take the diathermy for ten treatments.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 9/28/34 Aunt [844]‘s ltr.: ”…Your letter received and we will try to carry out your instructions for [605] and I guess she will begin the treatments from Dr. Beard next week and I think Mrs. [Mrs. [844]‘s mother-in-law and [605]‘s grandmother] will finance those. Then I guess we will finish them with Dr. Stone. Everybody thinks she has improved and we are all very proud of it…”
R2. 10/2/34 EC’s letter to his sister, Mrs. Ola Cayce Crume: ”…Just had a letter from [844] telling me that [605] has been getting along very good. [605], you know, has had a good deal of trouble with stammering or stuttering. They finally got a reading, and for a wonder of wonders Dr. Stone [Dr. Ed Stone, M.D.] agreed with part of the reading - has given her part of the treatment, and she has been on the improve…”
R3. 10/3/34 Letter from EC to [844]: ”…I was very glad to have yours of the 28th and to know that it may be possible for the instructions for [605] to be carried out. I believe you will find that Dr. Beard will be rather sympathetic, provided she is told that there are the corrections to be made according to the information, and after she has given her three or four treatments I would like to check up on it to see if she is making the corrections properly.
“We have had an experience with Dr. Beard (though I have been to her several times myself) when we have had to ask her to change, - in fact, in one instance with my father we had to change from her treatments because she insisted on doing her way, but I believe if we check up on it we can tell whether she is making the proper adjustments or not, and I would appreciate it if you would insist on her doing this…”
R4. 10/5/34 Letter from [844] to EC: ”…Do you want [605] to diet as long as she is taking any treatments? If so, please write her and tell her so as she thinks it only applied to the treatments from Dr. Stone at first and quit the diet as soon as she took the first course from him and only dieted a short while then, but please do not tell her that anyone intimated that she had not kept up the diet.
“Dr. Beard wants to go to an Osteopath convention the latter part of this month and wants to give [605] as many treatments before going as she possibly can, but I do not know how many that will be. How many can [605] take a week and would it hurt to take one every day for two weeks or more?
“She must do the thing which will be best for her, but Mrs. [[605]‘s grandmother] says she will not diet unless she knows she must do so…”
R5. 10/8/34 Letter from [844] to EC: ”…[605] will take her fourth treatment this afternoon and she says that Dr. Beard is giving them according to your directions. I will see Dr. Beard and ask her about them, maybe today…”
R6. 10/16/34 Letter from [844] to EC: ”…Dr. Beard has not given her a diet. Mrs. […] said she [605] has improved but she had a real hard time in talking last Saturday…”
R7. 10/20/34 Dr. Martha D. Beard’s letter: “I treated [605] twice this week before leaving so she won’t go long without treatments. I found the lesions in cervical and dorsal regions as your reading indicated. The lesions in upper dorsal will be especially hard to correct, but working hard on them, I believe I can see improvement and I have only given her 8 treatments. She is an awfully sweet girl. I am especially interested in her, too, because I knew her mother and was very fond of her. I think it is marvelous what you are doing with your readings. I hope you will give [605] a check reading while I am away, and let me know what you find.”
