This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of September, 1936, in accordance with request made by the daughter - Mrs. [480], through Associate Membership of her husband in the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 1:50 to 1:55 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Mich. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have those conditions and the body here, [619].

2. As has been indicated, there are those emergencies that have arisen from influences from without that have produced a strain, bruises, and a shock to the nervous system, to portions of the arms, the body, the face.

3. Those conditions as we find as indicated by the cut in the eye, while these will be very severe, these as we find if they are taken care of properly should NOT produce any PERMANENT disturbance or harmful conditions; though for the time being these are very painful.

4. We would keep same cleansed with an alkalin antiseptic. As we find a half and half solution of Glyco-Thymoline would be well to use as the antiseptic here; as well as bandages about those portions of the body with either the iodoform or a combination of those carrying an anaesthesia in same.

5. We would find that a stimulation osteopathically to relax the body and to keep the eliminations better during those periods of coagulation would make for the greater helpful conditions.

6. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) Is eye seriously injured? (A) As has been indicated.

8. (Q) Should anything be done for same other than the antiseptic - (A) As has been indicated. Be necessary, of course, to cleanse same from the abrasions and portions where injuries have been produced not only here but in other portions of the body.

9. We are through for the present.

R1. 9/10/36 Wife [601]‘s ltr.: “Tuesday (9/8/36) [619] had a bad accident while driving to Columbus on one of his Ohio trips. Skidded on a gravel turn and into a ditch and fence. He doesn’t know how he was struck on his left eye but was badly cut on the upper lid and below the eye. His car was badly wrecked and he took a bus to Columbus. He came home by train Wed. morning. Took him to the hospital yesterday morning where they took 3 stitches below the eye and one stitch on the lid. The antiseptic bandage was applied so did not disturb it after the rdg. came by wire. The eye specialist examined him more thoroughly today and said he was a fortunate man. Dr. John R. Thompson (D.O.) is giving him a treatment every day and if he feels well enough we will probably leave here Tuesday for …, N.Y…

Just a few belated words of praise for “There Is A River”. I read it - thought awhile - and then reread it. Following this I recommended it to various friends, and now have it on my reception room literature table - and it continues to attract much favorable comment. Some know of Mr. Cayce who read it, and some do not - but those who do not invariable want to know “what it’s all about”, etc. If the Biography of Mr. Cayce lives up to the standard set for it herein, it will most certainly be a wonderful book and record. I am hoping to hear from you when the book is available for distribution.

Dear Dr. Thompson:-

Thanks very much for your praise of “There Is A River.” We are sending to you a couple more copies. It’s very kind of you to keep them on your table. Several of our friends in your school are doing the same. I’m sure my friend Sugrue will have his hands full in trying to make the biography of Cayce live up to the standard he has set in the preface, but I think he is indeed a very beautiful writer - and I hope that the book may be received as well as the preface has been.

We have been a bit anxious here for the last few days due to the storm, which you no doubt noted from the papers or the radio. We had quite a storm in this part of the country, and for a while it looked like the copies of “There Is A River” would indeed be in a river - as quite a bit of the roofing was blown off the house and the water came through in STREAMS; and it seemed to find that box particularly. But it’s bright and beautiful today, and outside of the anxiety why all are very well.

R4. 10/1/36 Mrs. [601]‘s ltr.: “[619] is feeling better and enjoyed the change and rest but doesn’t seem quite the same to me. I believe that I can understand what a shock he must have had, but it is so unusual for [619] to be as quiet and as pensive as he has been since the accident.”
