This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the David E. Kahn home, 44 West 77th St., Apt. 14-W, New York City, this 23rd day of November, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [675], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. [675] and daughter; Dora Alport and son Harold; Regina Woolf and others.]
Time of Reading 3:15 to 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.J. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [675], present in this room; this we have had before.
-
As we find, the conditions are much improved from that we have had here before. While the conditions have NOT been so corrected that they would not go back towards those tendencies that have been created, if there were the turning away from the treatments, but those conditions in the cardiac reflexes - as produced by the disturbances in those centers and ganglia as we have outlined - show a great deal of improvement. So, the treatments should be continued; and we would add now certain applications that may make for a much better and faster reaction.
-
We would continue with the manipulations and adjustments such as have been made, to create a better equilibrium and balance throughout the cerebrospinal system, with its reactions to the organs of the digestive system as well as the functioning of the organs of the cardiac system.
-
The diet we would continue in something of a MODERATED form. No heavy meats; but fowl, fish and lamb may be taken in moderation at some meal. We would continue with the alkalin rather than an excess of the acid-producing foods.
-
Rather than using a powerful emit or cathartic, we would take all the olive oil the body will assimilate. This means in very small doses and often taken. Do not take same when there is the regurgitation or the belching of same, for this is the indication that there is not the proper assimilation with the gastric juices; but a quarter or a third of a teaspoonful taken every two or three hours, or a small quantity may be carried about the person and a very little put on the tongue from time to time. This will make for that change necessary in the activity in the gastric flow, as to aid in better eliminations.
-
Well that the activities through the exercises, after the rubdowns or the gymnasium exercises, be a portion of the applications.
-
Keep these and, as we find, we will bring a much nearer and a more satisfactory physical reaction for this body of [675].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are osteopathic treatments given properly by Dr. Watson; and how often should I take them? (A) Being given properly. Two times a week should be sufficient.
-
(Q) Shall I continue to take the same medicine? (A) Continue to take when it is necessary, as indicated.
-
(Q) Are there any other changes advised for the diet? (A) As indicated, keep the one meal each day of the raw vegetables; and there may be an increase in the amount of the vegetables and meats in one meal. Of course, the citrus fruit and the combinations of such would be well at the other meal.
-
(Q) What causes the muscles of the arms and legs to shrink? (A) This is rather the movement of the poisons and the pressures through the colon area; and it will be found by the body that when such conditions occur there are cold spots on the body in the caecum area - this is the pressure there. Hence the increase in the gastric flow of the lymph through this portion of the body, that will be increased by the quantities of the Olive Oil that may be assimilated, will gradually remove such conditions - not immediately, of course, but will continue to be nearer and nearer normal.
-
(Q) What causes the pains in shoulders and arms? (A) Same condition. And when these are so severe, use the high enemas to relieve those pressures in the colon; and we will find a much bettered condition.
-
(Q) Shall I continue to take the Crazy Crystals? (A) As indicated, not too great a quantity of cathartics; for these may be replaced much better by the Olive Oil - as much as may be assimilated.
-
We are through with this reading.

R1. 12/1/34 Dr. John H. Watson’s letter to EC:
DR. JOHN H. WATSON Osteopathic Physician 510 Second Avenue Asbury Park, N.J.
Mr. Edgar Cayce
Dear Sir;
I am very sorry I did not get to meet you while you were in New York. I sincerely hope I shall have that pleasure in the near future.
I have placed Mr. [675] on a two-treatment a week schedule. I noted in your last reading for Mr. [675] that you suggested he have that number of treatments. I feel certain two will be sufficient but if I find we are not making any gain I will notify you accordingly and then we can decide as to the proper course.
I instructed him to start on the colonic irrigations as quickly as possible. I know you are right in suggesting this as a means for carrying off those toxic materials which are no doubt causing that distress in his right shoulder and arms.
Mr. [675]‘s general condition appears to be better. He is taking the olive oil according to your instructions. I will keep you posted from time to time as to his condition. If there is anything you are desirous of knowing please do not hesitate to ask me.
From what Mr. [675] has told me I certainly am very much interested in the work you are undertaking. I would appreciate if you would send me more information about it.
Sincerely, John H. Watson, D.O.
R2. 12/19/34 EC’s letter to Dr. Watson:
Dear Dr. Watson:-
I was very much disappointed that I did not get to meet you while in New York. I had expected to be there for another week, and had hoped to get in touch with many other friends and acquaintances - but we were called away owing to the very sudden and unexpected death of my wife’s brother.
It was good to see Mr. [675] feeling that he was on the improve. I’m sure he was, for as no doubt he told you, he didn’t hesitate to say so before quite a number of people that were gathered together one Sunday afternoon in Forest Hills.
On my next visit I hope that I may talk with you in person. However, it may be possible for you to come to Virginia Beach before that time - which will be all the better.
I appreciate very much your report on starting Mr. [675] off on the treatments suggested in his last reading. I’m sure that if the colonic irrigations are done properly they will eliminate a great deal of that toxic condition, and get rid of the neuritis. The Olive Oil will work wonders, I’m sure, though - of course - it is quite slow; but taking it in small doses it will add a great deal to the activity of the lymph circulation through the intestinal tract. It’s one of the conditions that I believe is usually found in most people when they have reached Mr. [675]‘s age.
I assure you that I would appreciate very much your letting me hear from you from time to time. So many things come up with each case that it’s very hard for us to know what to ask unless we have close contact with the patient, at least by letter. Apparently, Mr. [675]‘s diet was what worried him a great deal, and I’m sure he’s been in the past rather a large eater - or not a very good discerner of what was the best for advancing years. He hasn’t said anything about this, though, since the last reading.
We are sending you some data regarding our work, as listed below; and if there’s anything else you would like to ask about, please don’t hesitate to do so. We desire to cooperate with, and to have the advice and counsel of, those we know that we are qualified by their very experience to offer suggestions here and there.
Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas, a Happy and Prosperous New Year, I am
Sincerely, [EC:GD]

R3. 12/28/34 [675]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I want to ask a few questions with reference to the medicine that I have been taking which you prescribed. I have finished about 4 bottles and I want to know whether or not you want me to continue taking this medicine. I would also like to know whether it is your opinion that it would not in any way hurt me or my condition to eat raw shell-food, such as oysters and clams. I am continuing the treatment with Dr. Watson which I believe is benefitting me.
When I saw you in Long Island, you said you were going to send me a list of foods that I might eat. I have not, to date, received this list, and would appreciate your mailing it to me at your early convenience.
If, in your opinion, I should continue to take the medicine, please call the Snyder Drug Company and ask them to refill the prescription for me as in this way I will not have to be without it as long as if I waited for a reply from you and then order it. I am now just about out.
I will appreciate hearing from you at an early date, and with the compliments of the season, I am
Yours very truly, [675]
R4. 1/3/35 EC’s letter:
I am just in receipt of yours of the 28th. I feel very sure from the last report that we had from Dr. Watson that it would be very well for you to have at least one more supply of the medicine before we make another check reading to see if there are any changes suggested. So we are ordering same from the Snyder Drug Co. today.
As to the use of oysters or clams, if these are taken raw or roasted I think it would be fine. I do not think it would be well, though, to take them in a stew or fried.
We are enclosing the list of the alkalin foods. Sorry that this has been delayed, but it is owing to the great stress and anxiety under which we have been for, as you know, we were called away from New York on quite a sad mission, and only returned to the Beach about the middle of December, and have been quite busy trying to get our appointments all taken care of.
I certainly think, from the reports, that Dr. Watson is doing a real service for you.
Let us hear from you, and with all good wishes for the new year, I am”
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce [EC:MD]
R5. 1/4/35 He referred his brother, Mr. [777], for a Physical Rdg.
R6. 2/5/35 “Dr. Watson requested me to write you and ask that you be good enough to give me a check-up reading, as he is anxious to know just how I am progressing.”
R7. 3/1/35 “March 5th will suit me fine. I’ll be here at the store. The only questions I’d like to ask are: Is my general condition better? Are there any further changes to be made in my diet? Am I to take any medicine of any kind? I take olive oil as directed. What is condition of my heart?”
