This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 16th day of June, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [943].

[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor and Steno (GD away on visit to Ala.). Mr. [943], Dr. H. A. Moore and HLC (?).]

Time of Reading 12:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [943], present in this room who has available five thousand dollars for oil drilling purposes. He desires information as to best shallow oil field to spend this money - giving exact location to drill in one of the following fields: Kentucky, Kansas, Texas or Mexico. Profits to be used to develop Florida oil leases.

2. Yes we have the body and enquiring mind of [943], this we have had before. Now regarding the conditions, each named territory has its advantage and disadvantage - we would give, however, all things considered the Kentucky field in that district about Irvine, Kentucky. When leases are made more specific locations may be given. This will be the better grade and the easier to turn into ready capital on account of the Penn. grading of production. Then get in touch with C. S. Ringle and use that rig and experience. He again enters the picture here.

3. (Q) What depth will the production be found? (A) From 380’ to 520’.

4. (Q) What amount of production will be obtained here? (A) From 50 to 300 barrels per day.

5. (Q) What will be the cost of drilling each well? (A) 900.00 to 1800.00.

6. (Q) Where will C. S. Ringle be found? (A) Irvine, Kentucky or Willard, Ohio.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

Your letter and wire to hand. Yes, I went to Kentucky to meet your man [943] but he was called away on other business, and said he would be up here to see me shortly after the first.

I was not surprised at the reading as there has been some wonderful pools discovered around Irvine, at from 300 to 1000 ft. Some wells come in making several hundred barrels and I have always felt there were more small structures around there just as good, and I can take them to several locations that I feel is good.

Your reading said to use my rig and experience. I have already shipped my rig to Owensboro but if I cannot locate another one that we can get at a reasonable figure I can ship mine back again.

Mr. [943] explained his position in the matter and I offered to assist him any way possible only I am not able to put any money in it. I would be compelled to get my expenses out of it at least. But if they are going to drill I can save them at least fifty percent on the cost besides can see that they get a test, and not just an expensive hole so probably I will see him again soon.

My dear Mr. Cayce:-

Yours of the 20th, to hand. And I shall answer giving you in detail all I know about your friend Mr. [943]. First, I get a wire from Norfolk, asking that I meet him in Lexington, to discuss oil matters. Was a day late in getting this wire. I answered then but he had left Norfolk. I got a wire from his New York office, making me think he must be some fellow, advising what time he would be at Phoenix Hotel, Lexington, Ky. And was anxious to see me so I tore out for Lexington, a distance of three hundred miles to see him.

He was glad to see me and we discussed the oil situation, machine he had for locating it the possibilities of Irvine, which he seemed to be pleased with also Florida. I informed him I had equipment for both places, that I had shipped my rig from Irvine, but if could not rent another cheaper, I could ship it back, so all was set.

We were going on to Irvine next morning to look over some acreage, while waiting for some Doctor, then next morning he informed me that he had no expense money and had to go to Florida at once, to square up some trouble, there then he told me about that.

He thought there would be no use in going to Irvine then and that he would be to Willard, to see me about the first but I have never seen nor heard any more from him. I treated him with the best of courtesy, and returned home, after thirty five dollars expense, which I am out on the deal.

Now you know all, and I thank you for your effort same as though I had made a lot of money, out of it and I am writing this only for your benefit. I have been looking forward to hear from him again, and hope I can be of some assistance to you, and I wish to assure you I will always be ready for you at any time.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I phoned you from Philadelphia few nights ago and was sorry that you were not in. It has been several months since I heard from you and I trust that you do not feel hard toward me because I have neglected to write you. I will tell you the full story when I see you -

The oil well on the trail looks like a winner and it is only a question of time now until facts will be known as to the possibilities. They have drilled through Chalk - Bumbo - Dolimite - and are now drilling in hard rock which they think is cap rock at a depth of 3778 feet. According to the information which we received from readings the big oil sand should be found at around 3800 to 3850. The people doing the work now are core drilling every foot of the hole and if anything shows up - there will be no chance to miss it. I still have my leases and an interest (40%) in another one hundred thousand acres in the everglades near the present drilling operations.

I have closed a tentative contract with a banker in Mobile, Ala., to drill or furnish capital for three wells to be drilled by the English concern that puts out the machine on a no supply no pay basis. We are waiting now for confirmation of this deal from Liverpool.

Will leave today for Lexington, Kentucky where I am getting leases together in the Estill oil fields - preparing to start drilling in the shallow fields there next Spring if nothing happens in Florida. Will be there for about ten days and then to Miami. My address while in Lexington will be … Lexington, Kentucky. My address in Miami will be … Building.

R5. 2/15/30 Ltr. from [943]:

Lexington, Kentucky

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Received your letter dated January 29th and glad that you are making good progress.

I haven’t been to Florida since I wrote you but expect to go there sometime by the end of this month so as to be present when they start bailing on the Tamiami well. They are pulling the old six inch casing which was set at 3060 feet and reaming down to 3890 feet and will re-set the six inch casing to that depth and then will try to bring in a well. The experts say that they have a well beyond any doubt now. They are spending about $16,000 for new casing and it would seem that they have it or wouldn’t do that - don’t you think?

I still have my leases and if the well comes in will be OK and then we can do some of the things that we have figured on doing for so long - if you are still interested in carry out the proposition as was outlined to us sometime ago. I have never lost sight of the goal that we are striving to make and believe firmly that success will smile on use before long now.

Have many things that would like to discuss with you and if something happens in Florida around the first of the month - will get in touch with you immediately and be there to see you.

Dear Mr. Cayce;

I am just in receipt of your letter dated April the ninth, as I have been moving about quite a bit in the last few weeks.

Dr. Moore is in Cleveland and at the present time I am unable to give you his address but if you will send me the information that you have in Alabama I will follow the proposition up myself if Doctor Moore is unable to go when I reach him.

I am just completing a Syndicate here to purchase one of the Oil Finding machines to be used here in Kentucky and in southern West Virginia.

I am enclosing herewith a clipping of paper dated April the 25, from Miami [See 943-10, Par. R7], which gives in detail all the information on the oil proposition in Florida. I still have my interest there and have some several months here to start drilling. I have had no news from Florida since they started bailing on the well. I am to be advised as soon as well is completed whether a producer or a “duster”.

Please let me hear from you as quickly as possible on the Alabama matter. My address for the next two weeks is Post Office Box #330, Huntington, West Virginia.

R7. 4/25/30 Miami newspaper clipping, referred to in 943-10, Par. R6:

OPERATORS OF WELL START BAILING SHAFT

Dismissal of Injunction By Ritter Permits Miami Company To Resume Work.

Operators of the well of the Miami Florida Oil Company began yesterday afternoon to bail the water and mud out of the 3,900-foot casing preparatory to determining if oil or gas will be brought in when the water is eliminated.

The work was started after Judge Halsted L. Ritter dismissed the injunction suit files by Dr. G. M. Smith of Mount Clemens, Mich., in United States District court. Attorneys argued the points in the case for nearly two hours yesterday morning before Judge Ritter ruled that he could not interfere with the internal management of the Miami Florida Oil Company unless fraud was shown.

J. C. Whitlock, geologist in charge of the well, said there were definite indications of gas but that it was impossible to tell yesterday whether gas was present in any considerable quantity.

“It may blow out any minute or we may have to resume drilling after the hole is cleaned out,” the geologist said after the bailing operation had been going for two hours.

“We expect to work all night dipping the water and mud from the well, swabbing it and thoroughly cleaning it out. It might be necessary to shoot some explosives in it, but I do not think so now. There is gas present now, but whether it can be released in sufficient force, or whether we shall have to resume drilling, I cannot tell.”

A score of automobiles and about 50 persons were at the well, which is 42 miles west of Miami on the Tamiami Trail, during the course of the afternoon. It was thought probable that those in charge would be able to determine by noon today whether it will be necessary to drill farther or to use explosives in the event no gas or oil is brought up before. Drilling began last July.

R8. 7/29/30 Ltr. from [943]:

Dear Mr. Cayce;

Would like to submit to you some of my troubles and to find out just how to handle them. The oil situation in Florida is at a standstill at present and I haven’t been able to turn a proposition of any kind here or anywhere else in order to secure necessary finance to do the drilling in Florida on my leases this next Winter; and I am praying that you can and will find time to give a reading on my business prospects and advise as to what to do and where to turn. The last reading given me said that information would be given from time to time as to my efforts to carry out certain work that has been suggested and of which you are aware.

I would suggest the following question if you can possibly find time to give a reading:

“You have before you the body and inquiring mind of [943], … Hotel, Ashland, Kentucky, and the said mind and body desires such information as will direct its effort into channel that will best produce the result that the forces has heretofore directed. The mind and body is at present at doubt as to just what to do and seeks such instructions and directions as the forces may give”.

The above suggestion may bring the desired information but if you see fit to make any change that will make the question clearer please do so. I need such help as you may give me at this time, Mr. Cayce, and I feel that a reading will help clarify my situation and keep me on in the fight to do the things as have been suggested.

In the questions to be asked in the reading, please ask the following questions if appropriate:

1. To what location and to what party should [943] go to carry out the suggestions and instructions as given.

2. Is there anything at this time that is preventing or will prevent the said [943] from carrying out the instructions and directions as given or that will be given, if so, explain fully and give details as to how it can be eliminated and cured.

3. The body and mind of [943] desires at all times to do the right thing and will appreciate any information that will be given that will help develop and bring to the conclusion such conditions as will put in motion the efforts of [943] for the betterment of self and others.

Certainly trust that you and yours are well and that I may hear from you at an early date.

R10. 10/12/30 Ltr. to EC:

KENTUCKY EXPLORATION SYNDICATE GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS Ashland, Kentucky

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Dr. Moore and I have secured an undivided half interest in about fifty thousand acres in Marion and Casey Counties, Kentucky, and expect to start drilling two wells before long and the geology is exceptionally good and the oil finding machine which you saw when we were in Virginia Beach with it registered the highest of any reading that we have ever made with it. If nothing happens Dr. Moore and I expect to go to Florida this Winter to do some drilling there. The last information that I have received from the Tamiami well was to the effect that they had abandoned the rotary outfit and installed a cable outfit and expected to drill to a depth of 6500 feet. They are now about 4863.

I see in the papers that the Atlantic University located at Virginia Beach has two or three hundred students, and I have been anxious to know if that institution was part of your program there. I know that you told me once that a University was part of your work and was to be established there.
