This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of April, 1929, in accordance with request made by Mr. [943] and Dr. H. A. Moore.

Time of Reading 5:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time.

1. GC: You will have before you the bodies and the enquiring minds of [943] and Dr. H. A. Moore, present in this room, with reference to making examinations with the English oil finders for the location of shallow oil in the counties of Dade, Monroe, Collier and Hendry, in Florida. You will give whether or not the information given by the oil instruments can be relied upon - and, if possible, explain the operation in detail of this instrument. You will give the best location for shallow oil wells in the above counties, giving the depth and quantity. You will also give any further advice that will be of assistance to those bodies in locating and developing this field. You will answer any questions which we will ask regarding this.

2. EC: Yes, we have the bodies, the enquiring minds, [943] - Moore - oil finder - Florida - oil production - conditions surrounding same. Here we have a large ORDER all in one. The instrument as an indicator of oil may be relied upon. The operations of same are upon the atomic theory of energy as related to the gravity as created in rotation of the earth’s forces as related to that as causes the PRINCIPLE of operation; that is, the instrument will give the radial forces of oil when same is operating through the vibratory forces as will be effective with the vibration as sent off FROM the petroleum production, or from the atomic forces as are created energy in gravitation with the rotation of the earth. Hence, pointed incorrectly there may be incorrect findings - but under the proper conditions and surroundings, correct.

3. As to oil productions in Florida - Hendry, Dade, Monroe, Collier counties - many of these we have had here before. As has been given, and as will be indicated by the findings of this instrument, these should be worked out along THIS line, see? The radial center from which this should be begun would be in Dade County, and in Section 54, Township 19, in the northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of same. Here we have almost the axis of the producing area. When it, the area, is guided from this in the shape of a curve, that would be indicated at less than an arch - or horseshoe shape - and, as is seen on the inclines as are from the north and east, and north, according to the curve, see? staying on the north side of same we will find the radius coming in various depths in different areas - from the 3800, 4000, up to 1600 and to 900 feet, VARYING according to the dips as are indicated from this radius. Work these out, for this would be more satisfactory - then stay right with it, stick here and you would get it - for if the instruments are to indicate, let it INDICATE those places as show the greater radiation, for this can be made the largest producing area in the American continent.

5. (Q) What is the best time of day to use the instrument? (A) From eleven A.M. to one P.M. This being the axis of radiation, offers that of the abilities to not only judge the depth (by the shadow given) but to the QUANTITY as would be indicated through same, see? The radiation coming from such at these periods. NEVER when the decline is in the axis of more than forty-five, see? We have two others reasons why this instrument - this same instrument - as to the factors in this particular area: These should be tested, for their best operations, between that of March 24th and of July the 30th.

6. (Q) Any further information that would be of assistance to these bodies? (A) Beginning here as an axis, work in one direction until there is shown that it reverses upon itself. Then beginning from the opposite radius, work to the same point. This will give the defined area in which production may be found, and it will be a large pool - as well as the various stratums as come in such pools and areas. Then locate. Then dig. Then use that gained properly, else there may be that reverting upon self - that talents given not applied correctly brings damnation to self’s own development. We are through.

Dear Mr. [943] -

Have yours of the 14th and 15th. Saw Dr. Moore as he came through, and he reported quite a successful trip. We had expected to hear from him by this time, or very soon, as he said he wanted more information about something - I don’t know just what. We were unable to get in an appointment while he was here, but we will attend to it as soon as possible.

Now, regarding a complete set of the reports on Florida, Miss Davis says it will be rather hard for her to go over and find them all - but if you will let her know which ones you HAVE, then it would be much easier for her to get out the rest of them - for there will be a great deal of copying to do. Let me know about this, and we will see what we can find.

We got the information for Mrs. [5571] [See 5571-1 Background re domestic relations leading to subsequent divorce] at time appointed, and hope it will prove really helpful to her. Trust you are getting things lined up in a way that you want them. Know that we are desirous of being of help if possible, but our work here is getting heavier and heavier all the time. That, of course, would be a natural consequence if our institution is to succeed. However, we haven’t got it overflowing as yet - but are about ready now, I think, and we expect to have some people by the first of the month to fill up the work.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Recently I had the pleasure of reading your autobiography. It was very gratifying to have the opportunity of reading this most unusual autobiography, and I am glad it has been my privilege to have met you and to have had the experience and benefit of two of your readings.

You may not recall this, but Mr. [943] of Miami, Florida and I visited you at Virginia Beach about fourteen years ago. I had formerly practiced surgery for many years and referred a very difficult medical case to you, [241], and she and her husband were present at your reading. Your reading confirmed my diagnosis of the case, which was contrary to the diagnoses made by several prominent psychiatrists and neurologists. When you made your reading and gave the symptoms and the treatment it was astounding to me, and particularly your mentioning the cause of the symptoms, which I had stated was due to a traumatism to the coccyx, which your reading confirmed. The treatment you outlined was also unexpected, as I advised the same treatment.

At another reading you described scientifically two geophysical instruments that you had never seen or heard of, and told us where Mr. […] and I were going for the purpose of locating oil, and advised us to go into a certain part of the Everglades in Florida and test the geophysical instruments we had. You stated that at a certain place in the Everglades, where we afterwards went, the instruments would register in a certain way, and to our surprise, after doing as you advised, the instruments registered as you had stated. You further advised us to drill for oil in this location, and stated that we would develop one of the largest shallow oil fields on this continent. Due to our inability to secure the leases in this area, we have been unable to drill this property, but on account of a strange coincidence it seems that this property will soon be available to us, and it is my desire to have you send me a copy of your reading made at that time to the address below.

I should also like to arrange to meet you in Virginia Beach in the near future, to have you make a further reading regarding this matter, for I feel that we will soon be able to drill this property, and if we are successful, as you predicted, a percentage of the returns will be used as an endowment for your present organization, and it will be for the benefit of all of those whom you wish to assist. When we meet I can give you further details that I am sure will be interesting.

A friend of mine, who has also read your autobiography, is very anxious to meet you, and I feel confident that his cooperation with you and your organization will assist you in realizing the success that you so well deserve in your present efforts. It is probable that he will be with me on the trip to Virginia Beach at the earliest date possible. He is a Jew, and may be the one that you need to make the success predicted in your readings. He is psychic and has had wonderful experiences as a result of his powers in other activities than yours.

Dear Mr. Moore;-

Thanks for yours of the 25th - yes recall your work with Mr.

[943]. Sorry can’t tell you much of the reading you refer to as Mr. [943] took several of those readings out of the files [See [996] and [1247] series], and we never heard anything more of them, so can’t supply copies, when you are here we may be able to find something as may have been given - on Fla for the information has long favored Fla as the big Oil state.

Will have to make appointment for a reading, Mr. Moore, at least two months ahead, as all time is promised until that time.

Will be glad to see you again, but can’t promise to give a reading under two months time.
