This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of September, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [949], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: Considering the records of this entity and the present surroundings and choice of work, you will advise him regarding his mental and spiritual development. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes - we have the entity, [949]; and those records and activities of the entity that have been indicated, together with the environs in the present and the aspirations of the entity.

3. In considering then the developments of the entity, know that - in whatsoever sphere or phase of experience one finds self - these environs, these surroundings are but opportunities for the entity, with the ideal that is the choice of the inner self, to make or use such for that development which is in keeping with the ideal.

4. Thus, as we find, the entity in the present should not change its ideal because of its change in environment, because of its change in the outlook upon the experiences of life, because of the change in values of material and environmental conditions. This has not changed the entity’s ideal in relationships to its abilities or its purposes!

5. Hence these environs, these surroundings are to make, should make - if the choice or self in service, in labor, in activities, is to be used as a MEANS for, rather than a hindrance - the DEVELOPMENT of the entity’s abilities in creative forces as related to finding expression of self in music.

6. Music itself is a means or a manner of expressing the harmonies of the mental self in relationship to spiritual ideals and spiritual concepts. Hence - as is the very nature of rhythm or harmony in the expression of tone or sound - it is to arouse, does arouse the natures of the hearers to activity, either for uplifting the soul or the mind to activity or otherwise - in the directions that are indicated by the harmony itself.

7. Hence - with the change - use same rather as stepping-stones. Do not lose sight of the ideal and the purpose.

8. And - whether it be in the depicting of the noise of the boulevard, or a workaday activity of the shifter of scenes, or the rhythm of the sea, or the moonlit dell through which lovers may pass, or the seeking of expression in the activity of the anvil, or the train, or the woodman - know that ALL are, and may be, a part of the entity’s experience in giving itself in expression; in using such as the basis of its activity.

9. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) Considering my move to California and present work, how should I direct my efforts and energies to achieve the greatest possible development? (A) As indicated, and as may be gathered more specifically in the application of self in giving expression of those activities or environs or surroundings - and SETTING them as it were gradually to music.

As has been so oft demonstrated and indicated, EVERY activity must be TIMED; which is the harmony or the rhythm of music itself - whether in the preparation for a shooting of a set, or a portion of a scene, or the timing necessary for the stroke of the oar or the stroke of golf or tennis or baseball, or the step necessary in the cycling of the body for expressions to others, in conversation or in writing of any nature. And the material expression becomes, “It is timely.”

Hence the environ, the change, the activity is TIMELY that the entity lose not the value of associations with those of the workaday world, or the workaday human experience - to use same AS the basis, AS the source of inspiration as it were for the activities in the MUSICAL expression of same.

11. (Q) What should I do now regarding my music? (A) Study! See in the activity of every group, every figure the representation of a phase of human experience, human endeavor - whether it be in the material activities of life from the viewpoint of the laborer, the scrubwoman, or the executive in high places - that may be set to music in such ways and manners as to give and lend encouragement and bring hope and faith in the BETTERMENT of such relationships, such activities in the lives and experiences of individuals.

12. (Q) Is there any reason for this sudden turn of events in respect to past experiences? (A) As we have indicated, it is that the mental self may not lose hold upon the common touch, the oneness of all force, the unifying of purposes for the spiritual insight in every activity of the human INDIVIDUAL experience!

13. (Q) Are there any advices or warnings to be heeded? (A) Advices to use each of these, in all their phases - whether it is the rhythm of the movements of an individual upon a set, or upon the street, or upon the going and coming, or the approaches in a night club or church - but ALL are to be kept in their relationships; and may within the experience of the entity be set to music.

14. (Q) Is the new standard of values which I have suddenly realized going to prove to be an ultimate good or evil? Will the benefits, if any, derived from it be of a monetary material nature or will they aid in furthering development in the long run? (A) The will of every soul, as to its ideal, in the gaining of insight into values, determines the value of any experience - according to the use or purpose to which it is put.

As to this - if only drudgery is seen in the activities of individuals or of self, for the monetary values, for material or physical sustenance, then it becomes a stumbling-stone.

If the rhythm of same is seen in the activities of every nature, that moves as to life in its seeking for opportunities for the expression of the spiritual natures or the LIFE of same, then it becomes a stepping-stone for greater understanding and comprehension.

15. (Q) Just what type of music should be studied by the entity in the present to bring out the highest sense of rhythm, tone, etc., stored in the soul-mind of the entity? (A) Just as indicated all the way through; as to how that everything in nature, every activity of human experience may be set to music; and the study of the ways and manners to do this; and keeping that of the SPIRIT of the activity rather than the DRUDGERY of same will enable the entity then to see, just as Chopin - and this would be very well for the entity to follow.

16. (Q) You mean his work would be the one you would suggest to follow? (A) His would be the one; just as his works were the depicting of only here and there the nocturne or the sleepy feeling, this can be to the entity turned into the rhythm of life itself - as it finds expression in ALL phases of man’s endeavor.

17. (Q) Give specific directions for approaching this study of music under present conditions. (A) As has been given all along here, again and again - see the rhythm in the activities of every nature; whether in viewing the scrubwoman or the artist in giving expression - see the timing of same necessary to make the activity VALUABLE and of a SPIRITUAL nature in its essence!

And this is the manner of study necessary if the entity would accomplish and fill that place that is IN the POSSIBILITIES of the entity.

18. (Q) Explain more in detail the following from the Life Reading given this entity, “of those that pertain to the glorifying of forces that act upon the imaginative and mental forces of individuals in service or in action in defense of any particular principle.” [949-2, Par. 14] (A) This again is seen in just what has been given, as to the manner of seeking or searching for that to which the entity may give expression of same in music. The activities of individuals, or of nature, or of EVERY phase!

For unless the activity of every individual is as the music of the surf, the rippling waters, the sky, the birds, the very nature itself, it has not accomplished and does not accomplish that as an uplifting experience for the individual soul or entity.

Then to enable all to see in their labors, by the very overflow of the abilities of the entity in setting same to music, becomes a helpful influence - and the ability to make all force of a spiritual nature for that of mental and spiritual development.

19. (Q) Please give more explanation of the Uranus influences as mentioned in first Life Reading. Just how can these urges be given the greatest expression in the present life? [See 949-2, Par. 9.] (A) Uranian influences are for the EXTREMES; very high, very low in the phase of human endeavor or human experience. In the using of same, then, as they turn to the occult or mystical forces in the experiences of individuals they tend to make for the activities in which individuals give credence to numbers, days, seasons, or become as it were superstitious to this or that form. These are manners of expression of this influence. As to how to use same, then, - keep the mental and spiritual self attuned to the harmonies of the TIMING as it were in human EXPERIENCES and endeavors, to keep these in accord with DEVELOPMENTS rather than the groveling into such as to become a part of the surroundings that are belittling to the ideals of the entity.

Just as may be seen in the earth - EARTHY things seek to find material expressions only, and hence become material rather than spiritual.

In Venus we find the lovely becoming the expressions in activities in which there is the beauty seen in love, in companionship, in association, in music, in art, in ALL the things that bespeak of the LOVELINESS even of nature and the material things, rather than the expression of same in the earthy form or manner.

Jupiter becomes the universality of force and nature and matter and activity, with the expression or use in mass rather than the individual toning or tenor or activity.

The Mercurian influence makes for the high mental vision without body, without form, without running to influences that are standardized but giving expression rather in the bigness of the littleness of the thing for its spirituality and activity in same.

Or from Saturn we find the influences from which there is the new beginning - ever the constant wanting to rub out and begin over again, the constant change that arises.

But all of these, as may be seen, are but EMOTIONS that seek expression; and in the material plane or earth are ALL subject to the will of the entity.

R1. 9/30/38 Ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce -

I received the reading and was very much impressed, as usual. It seems to me that your fears as to its being too general were unwarranted. Either that, or I am, thru my experiences with them, able to conceive the specific answers that I want. The more contact I have with the readings the more impressed I am with the importance of the whole idea. And I think that the understanding I am getting from them is beneficial.

(Pardon the red ink, but this typewriter has a tendency to blush.)

California, in which I suppose you are interested, is very much the same. It is not like our East with that feeling of punch and nervous activity. Hollywood, tho, is quite an interesting topic in itself. It is the pulse and beat of Southern California, and the moving picture industry is the only reason for its existence. The Industry, of course, is a mammoth thing, and the intrigues, and morals, and institutions, and traditions, and attitudes of those in and around it are interesting if they are not important to our civilization. I have been wondering of late, just what the importance of this place is, because to speak to a Hollywoodian, there isn’t another town on the face of the earth that is so important as Hollywood. There’s New York and Chicago, but they’re dirty and somehow don’t catch the pulsations and vibrations which Hollywood feels it catches and retains. To me, it’s like a modern Rome - it doesn’t contain all the rich people in America, but a lot of them. They are worried about the future and a little, I think, taken aback by the importance they have assumed. But then there are the poor - probably rich in comparison to others thruout the country, but by comparison with their immediate superiors, reduced to utter poverty. Consequently there is the usual envy and jealousy and also the apple-polishing and mooching on the part of the underlings who completely subjugate themselves to people who have superior positions but who they don’t think are superior. It strikes me, that this might make an interesting experimental reading, sometime for one of your public readings. If you think there is anything in it, I would be glad to correspond with Hugh Lynn about it.

And by the way, are you keeping in mind some time for the children’s [[1700] & [1701]] readings?

I wonder if in any of your readings you have come across a doctor who gives treatments similar to Dr. Miller in New York. As there are times, such as the present, when I feel that one or two would do me a lot of good. I would appreciate it if you could steer me on to someone. I asked Dr. Miller, but she said that she couldn’t help me other than refer my name to the man who distributes the machines in the district, which she apparently did, but this individual has probably been a little forgetful in what I imagine should be a good business move on his part. Anyway, if you have come across someone, it would prove most helpful. She certainly did marvelous things for me.

I am getting pretty acclimated to God’s Country, by now, and in a few months no one will know me from the natives. And to prove that I am becoming a real Hollywood luminary, all I have to tell you is that I hardly ever wear a necktie. Everything else, tho, is completely under control.

You know that I am always glad to hear from you or Hugh Lynn, so whenever you think of it, shoot me a letter. Give my kindest to Mrs. Cayce and Gladys

Dear Mr. Cayce -

I am in receipt of yours of the 15th [See under 1469-1, Par. R4] and am enclosing a check which I hope will help as I think it is a worth while thing in which I believe most heartily.

California is very much the same as it was the last time I wrote you, but regardless of all that, I want to wish you and your brood the best of the season’s greetings and hope that you are all well.

I understand that there were some pretty exciting times in New York, and that Hugh Lynn has been working on my mother’s reading [1315-10]. Just what came out of it, I am anxious to know.

I haven’t been too well myself, lately, because my old trouble [See 949-10 Reports] with the arms has come back. I have been hesitant about getting treatments because I didn’t want to go to someone who I didn’t know would do the right thing. Of course I don’t think I could be lucky enough to find anyone as good as Dr. Miller out here, but I think I have found a man who can help me some. I will find out in a very short time, however. This town has a lot of fakes in that line and I have been a little frightened about it. An aunt of mine went to an apparently reputable man who went to work on her and as a result she was flat on her back in bed, on a board, for four or five months. All of this isn’t very cheerful - but it’s what I’ve been facing.

Anyway, hope to have some good news on this for you soon.

R3. 12/17/38 EC’s letter:

Thanks for yours of 12th and for your Contribution to the “Safety Fund”;

Hugh Lynn has been working in N.Y. since last Aug - think it was and the 4th of Dec he put on a programme for W.O.R. - I went up to see and hear it - is called “Mysteries of the Mind”. It has taken pretty well and next monday the 19th it goes on in the evening will be 10 P.M. New York time think now it will be coast to coast broadcast hope you can hear it, think you might find it interesting.

Yes - had another reading for your Mother [1315-10] on her Life reading and know Hugh Lynn has been going over it with her - but couldn’t tell you as to the conclusions reached, may be able to find something about it when he is home Christmas. Saw your Father [437] and had nice talk with him but did not see your Mother.

Don’t like to hear that you are having trouble again - hope you will get after it before it gets any sort of hold on you

• expect there is a lot of hokum with many that would apply help, and one has to be very careful who they get hold of. Hope you make the right selection - Might you not get from Dr. Miller or Dr. Dobbins the name of some one they would recommend - and in that way have a surety that you wouldn’t have by just picking out some one - for they would not recommend them unless they were pretty sure of them - would try that.

R5. 1/25/41 Mrs. [903]‘s letter: “We ([257] and I) were with [949] before he left for his Xmas vacation. He was tremendously impressed with the way his rdg. dovetailed into certain events over which he had no control and his whole office force began gripping their seats and biting fingernails for the next move to be made. Scenario writers in the very arms of a great scenario and apparently don’t see it. Well, the Wright brother FLEW four years before anyone believed it.”

R6. 7/31/44 Ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce - I am enclosing a check for that last reading [949-17], which, I know, is late in coming, but only because of my own carelessness. As you know by now I followed the advice and went thru the series of injections. It was very unpleasant and very uncomfortable and took me quite some time to fully recover, but now I have and as always those little episodes begin to take on an aspect of humor that was never there at the original time.

I was quite amazed at the reading, tho - so much that I sent it back to New York to show Dad and [257]. And, to be honest, altho I was worried about the after effects, one I got the reading it was certain that I was going to have the injections.

It’s been so long since you’ve heard from me that I don’t know quite where to begin with the intervening history. But to sum it all up, they finally made me a producer which is a big step towards what I want to accomplish. Of course the pictures that I have to make are not what I would choose to represent me, but that is something over which I haven’t much control. Limited by studio policy to inexpensive pot- boilers, I don’t feel that I have attained anything ultimate, and altho I do at times get very discouraged, I also do get some satisfaction out of doing what I consider the best that can be done in those particular instances and circumstances.

I am also at odds with my bosses as to matters of business and of taste. And altho I always have to give in without arousing any antagonism, it is difficult to feel that getting the most out of anything when inherently I feel that it is wrong. That, tho, is just another fly in the ointment.

I guess that California is going to be my home. I miss New York and the east, and I am very anxious to go back for a visit, but with the studios here I think I am. I am getting to like it quite well, too. The climate is really fine, even tho we are having a terrible summer, but it is always bearable, and it is also responsible for tropical laziness, of which I am getting too much.

My mother [1315] is living out here and is quite happy. My father [437] is very slow on his communications, but he is fine, also, and well. And my sister [1101] now has a son [No rdg.] in addition to her daughter [2862]. That about brings you up on the family.

I read Tom Sugrue’s letter in the bulletin and I was very impressed [6/13/44 Letter in 7/44 A.R.E. Bulletin - See under 1797-3 Reports]. I was also very interested to hear about Jerry Danzig. Altho I really haven’t been hit by the war, I have been greatly concerned with the social, political, and philosophical results. Nearly all my friends are in it one way or another, and they seem to give me a front seat at what’s going on. I believe that I’m being pretty well informed.

My chief concern is that there is so much terror and horror being perpetrated, that there will be nothing but hate in the hearts and minds of the people who will control the attitudes towards the rehabilitation. Granted that there have been horrible crimes committed, it seems a shame that the world should go thru a thing like this for merely revenge. And yet that is what the most prevalent feeling is towards reconstruction. Breaking up the Japanese Empire. Conscription of the Germans into labor gangs to rebuild the fallen cities. The plans seem to have too much of a punitive nature. Altho it is necessary to punish non-conformists to a certain degree, nothing important is ever gained by punitive revenge. And in a case such as this, we are concerned with more than the welfare of a community or city, or even a nation - with, in fact, the world at large.

We must get, from this war, an understanding of internationalism, a good deal for everyone regardless of what country they come from. Democracy on a world-wide basis. Broken down it means no national selfishness - simple enough to say, but very hard to teach.

Well, I’ve taken up enough time of … Inc. with which to answer my private personal correspondence. But I do want you to know that I feel fine, have fully recovered, and am comparatively happy!

R7. 8/18/44 EC’s letter:

Dear [949]:

Pardon me for not replying to yours of the 31st of July much sooner, but I left here on the 27th, hoping to get a little rest, and believing that I would come back much better.

I went to Florida, primarily to talk over some of the business about publications with Sugrue - some of the things that have been holding off for a year or so, or ever since the great rush began on the Association.

While I got a little rest, and a little work done, I came home feeling like “something the cat might have dragged in”, and while I am feeling a little bit better, I am none too good, yet.

I was quite worried about you when I first heard from you, and then when I talked with your mother, there was considerable concern when the information insisted on your taking the injections. Let us hope that it did no harm, and that taking the precaution will teach each and every one of us a lesson.

I haven’t had the opportunity to talk with your father [437] personally for some time, but the last time I was in New York I did speak to him on the phone, but you know, he is the kind of fellow I like to sit down and have a long talk with - or maybe have lunch with. I was very much amused at some of the things he said to me, even over the phone. Maybe, if some day I can sit down and talk to you, I will tell you some of them - but they don’t go good in a letter - especially one I have to dictate!

I am indeed happy to know that your mother [1315] is better, and that she is where you may see her and be with her, now and then. Certainly glad to hear about [1101] and the new baby. I haven’t heard from her for some time. Be sure to remember me to her when you write.

What you tell me about what you are doing is certainly interesting. I am happy, indeed, [949], to know that you have that attitude about the general situation which arises in a country from all these horrible things that are going on. I am very sure that if you keep this attitude, come what may, a lot of it will creep into the pictures you produce, be they little or great. We all realize that it is the greatest teaching factor in the world today, say what they will about it. It changes the attitude of the young people. So you have a real proposition. It has great possibilities for those who really have a principle and policy, and really know something about what life is all about.

I am glad to note that you do look over the Bulletin, and I think Sugrue’s letter was quite timely. Of course, it brought to the minds of many, things that we have thought of and spoken of [7/44 Bul. See ltr. under 1797-3 Reports]. I am sure that there will be some other reports in these that will be of interest. Possibly, the current one may interest you. I would like to have your comment on it, from what you have just said about vengeance. I think it is in the September Bulletin. Don’t forget to read it, and then write me about it, because it carries something on the very problems that you talk about. It speaks about the sins of those who are quite self-righteous, I know. [GD’s note: Rdg. 3976-29 on world affairs, given 6/22/44 at the June Congress, was used complete in the Sept. ‘44 Bulletin.]

I wish I had the opportunity to talk with you. I am glad that you are beginning to like California. If you ever do get East, do include Virginia Beach, for at least a day or two.

R10. 4/13/46 [949]‘s ltr. to HLC [Used 5th paragraph in 5/1/46 DL.]:

Dear Hugh Lynn

I have been meaning to write to you for many weeks, the main reason I haven’t being an attitude of lethargy brought on by a number of disagreeable situations connected with my job so that I haven’t been quite in the right frame of mind. My situation hasn’t been improved any lately, but be that as it may I don’t want to put it off any longer.

Mostly because I have heard some disturbing rumors concerning how things are going with you all in Virginia Beach. I don’t want to take the position of prying, but you know how interested I am in the work, and I did want to offer myself to you in the hopes that I might be of some assistance, in case there is anything going on that might be called serious.

I haven’t heard anything specific, just rumors from here and there, and altho I hope they are exaggerations, I wanted you to be reassured that I want to anything possible to help, if such be the needs. After all I have had the benefits of sharing the pleasures of knowing you all and I think I’m entitled to share some of the grief.

So if you have anything bothering you in which you think I can be of any help, do let me know. My home address is …, Calif. - and I am looking forward to hearing from you in any event.

Our own bible study group is progressing quite nicely. I don’t think you know any of the members, but we are all very interested in the work and have some very interesting discussions. I notice from Gladys’ letters that California has more Association members than any other state, and I hope that our group can set some sort of a standard for those who want to follow our example. You undoubtedly know about placing copies of There Is a River in the various libraries in this territory. It is slow work, but we feel that it will be accomplished in due time (and I chose that word carefully).

I was recently to New York where I saw my father, a thing I [don’t] get to do too often these days. I wanted to get up to meet Tom Sugrue but didn’t find out he was in New York until I had to leave. An odd coincidence, tho is the fact that my step-mother is quite friendly with the leading character of his new book and has had several discussions about it with his wife. She is a Kentuckian, too, my stepmother [2090] - that is - and has known them for years. It’s still a small world, tho pretty messy.

Do give my best to everybody and if you get the chance write to me.

R11. 4/18/46 HLC’s letter:

Dear [949]

Your letter of the 13th was most welcome. Thank you for your interest in our affairs. Never, consider that you are prying. In a work like this your life is literally an open book, and our affairs here are the concern of every member of the Association.

In this organization, as in any other, (perhaps more so, because of the karmic patterns) personalities clash from time to time. I try not to pass troubles along to others unless the issues involved are of paramount importance. Let me try to give you a picture of the Association affairs, as briefly as possible. I am not sure I have all the ends gathered up as yet, but this is as far as I have gone.

Several magazine articles followed the book, THERE IS A RIVER. The deluge of letters and requests for readings simply worked Dad too hard - not so much in giving the readings but in handling the people. Unfortunately, I went over seas about this time.

With his death, and mother’s a few months later, something resembling chaos must have resulted. Gladys Davis did a magnificent job of holding things together, but some old friends backed off and did nothing and a great many new ones (some of them high pressure business executives) became very active and at the last Congress launched a very ambitious program including a $60,000 budget. Nothing was done but talk about raising this budget. The young man who was acting as the Manager got into difficulties with members of the Board and with other members of the staff. Everyone meant well, but there was a great deal of lost action and a great many words.

You have known me for a long time, and I am sure you agree with me and others, that I am not a business executive or a super salesman, or a great many other things in terms of business activity. This situation called for a genius and I am not that either. As matters stood when I got home we were spending more money than was coming in monthly. I took a short time to begin gathering up loose ends and endeavored to bring one of our new trustees who has had considerable experience in publicizing work of this kind [Matthew J. Kurtz] together with Tom Sugrue for the purpose of preparing a booklet which would launch the full program of the work. I made the mistake of depending on them too much and time ran out on getting this booklet in shape in time to prevent financial difficulties.

We have taken steps in a temporary reduction of the staff which will permit us to live within our income. I expect the steps leading to this were the rumors you heard in New York.

Our logical steps are to present a concise statement of the purposes and objectives in a direct, clear-cut manner and begin interesting individuals and groups in various phases of the work. We need cooperation among those who are interested in furthering the program. We need money in carrying as through this period of readjustment until we can begin to expand our membership program on a sound basis. We have much here to offer individuals who are seeking physical, mental and spiritual help - but we must get it out in a form that will appeal and hold.

It is a big job, bigger than most people realize, but it is a job very much worth doing.

We are making progress in interesting physicians in testing and using outlines of treatments given for a number of cases on people who have not had readings. Eventually, we will help many more people in this manner than Dad was able to serve with the individual reading. A number of these physicians will be present at this Congress June 17-23 and will develop further plans for this health service.

We are getting articles into magazines about the work and more and more people are being attracted to reading the literature we get out. Much of our material is in bad shape. It needs printing and revamping. Our regular publications are not all that we would like them to be.

If we can keep people from tearing one another apart as they try to help us, all will be well.

I do not know just what your present situation is, but your advice and help in any of a dozen directions will always be welcome.

Naturally, we hope that eventually a picture can be made based on the work. Too, I see possibility of shorts built around some of the readings on Atlantis, or the lost tribes coming to American, etc., as evidence is gained to balance the information on such subjects given over a period of many years.

For example, I recently heard a Lt. from the navy who had been with some of the expeditions in Yucatan (Smithsonian) describe evidences of Atlantean civilizations and possible evidences of the lost tribes. It seems to me that such facts tied up with our information would make unusual and interesting shorts and pave the way for a full picture on the work.

The atomic bomb and other scientific developments make a good springboard for such interest. Hundreds of our life readings and sixteen complete readings on Atlantis and its colonies in Egypt and Central America give colorful data on the people, times, customs, etc. There is a great deal of historical and geographical information that backs up these theories. A picture on Atlantis would be terrific.

Your suggestions on these lines would be helpful, if you think that anything might be done with such material.

Enough of my ranting - daily there are letters to write and Weekly Extracts to get out, and people to see and orders to fill, and plans to work out, and talks to prepare, not to mention the many other phases. It is work to keep one on his toes - and off other peoples if possible.

We had readings on your step mother [2090] years ago. I am quite familiar with the story and it is tangled.

I have the finest 3 1/2 year old boy you ever saw and a charming North Carolinan for a wife. It was good to get home - in spite of all the changes.

Dad did his job and did it well - it is now up to us.

R13. GD’s note: We heard later that [949] married a French girl but that the marriage did not last.

R14. 3/4/71 GD’s note: His father, Mr. [437], told me that [949] was now a psychology professor in a small college in N. Mex.

R15. 7/17/72 His mother, Mrs. [1315], wrote: “[949] is in the process of a divorce - and getting back to normal. He has no children. I’m sure he would love to have your book, autographed.”

R16. 6/11/75 His mother, Mrs. [1315] wrote GD:

“My very belated good wishes on your marriage. Just saw your picture in the A.R.E. News. It’s the only interesting part of the paper for me.

“I always sent the small prayer leaflet to [949] who enjoys and likes them. He has gone back to his music - has a partner and they have written what I think are great songs - not rock or country music. I have been his agent - first to get someone with a voice to sing them, and now I’m trying to get them on their way. Seems the record companies own the music business - and won’t listen to anything that isn’t on Cassette.”
