This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of July, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [979].

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and the Universal Forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited, in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity giving the abilities of the present entity and to that which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity here, and those relations with the Universal Forces as are latent and exhibited in the present earth’s plane.

3. In taking the position in the present earth’s plane, we find one coming under the influence of the cusps, or the changes as take place in the astrological position in the earth’s orb and its companions in the present solar system under which the earth is ruled or guided or led, and the entity then comes in that position of one of exceptional abilities, exceptional in many ways and manners. Eccentric also, and very headstrong.

4. One of good figure in the early portion of the life.

5. One with the inclinations towards those conditions as regarding the things pertaining to earthly pleasures, earthly foibles, earthly conditions.

6. One that has found much in the present earth’s plane through the various experiences of the entity in the various phases of human development, and the various manifestations of the various phases of human development.

7. One that would have been, and would yet be, a writer, or a teacher, for the vision and the aptitude of the entity towards those conditions as pertain to visions of any condition, especially that as of the developing phases in the phenomenas of life and of its evolutions, show the various developments in those manifested visions of the entity.

8. One that is given especially to the development of conditions as respecting home, making most of any position or condition under which the entity labors.

9. One that comes under the influence of Mercury and Jupiter. Hence one who will find the greatest changes came in this period of the present earthly existence. In the fourteenth year, again in the twenty-second, again in the forty-second, and in the present year, in the latter portion of the year, the greatest changes of all.

10. One that will give much to others through the experiences as have been held, had, or experienced by the entity in the present earth’s plane.

11. One that speaks often too quick, without taking thought of the seed of the word sown.

12. One that will give much in the experience to others, could and will under the influence of letters or of articles that may be written by the entity yet.

13. One that finds much good in the actions of all, and ever ready to defend those who are considered in the way of wrong by others, yet the entity one holding close to the tenets of good.

14. As to the appearances, much, as is seen, is from the influence of the earthly experiences, for in the one before this we find the entity then in the court of the ruler in that country now known as England, and in the rule of the second Charles. The entity then in the household of the ruler and the companion often of the king. Hence the present urge for those things as pertain to power and of vision, and the hardest conditions in the present life being able to be compatible with things of low estate, or little mien, or littleness in anyone. AGAIN the compatible spirit to be able to meet every condition, whether of high or low in social way and manner, is the abilities from this same sojourn.

15. In the one before this we find among those of the peasant people who first founded that land now know as Alsace, and the entity then gained much in service in the settlements of the country in the help, aid, and assistance to the first peoples who came under this scourge that racked the land, and the urge as is seen from same - one capable to turn hand to any kind of work - that is, applying the hands - in needle work, in sewing, in ANY thing that is necessary for the use or the nimbleness of the hand, and there is seen the ability to be the nurse to any that is afflicted in body.

16. In the one before this we find in that period when the people returned from bondage in the Egyptian country. The entity then among those who took the journey toward the Promised Land, and among those who, though young in years, reached the Promised Land, and the various ideas as are held by the entity, especially regarding this journey, though ever being peculiar to itself, has always been a fascinating subject to the entity, and love of others to discuss same. Entity gained much during that period.

17. In the abilities, then, of the entity, and the application of same in the present plane, would be for the entity to apply self in the chronicling of the experiences in the present plane for the benefit of others. In this the entity would find much success, and the first papers would be acceptable to many of the magazines, and the articles would bring great pleasure and much monies to the entity.

18. Then, keep those of the rule as is seen through the period of the Exodus, and of the assistance given in Alsace, but leave much of the high-mindedness in the past, submerging this evil desire and bringing to the front that of service.

19. We are through for the present.

R1. 7/19/26 “Your ltr. with ‘reading’ enclosed was rec’d several days ago, and it has taken me all this time to partly digest it - ha! ha! If we could see ourselves as others see us! I never imagined I had so many bad qualities - eccentric, headstrong, pride - oh, I almost despaired. I thought the pride I had was to try to attain the highest and best in life, keep myself and mine in the best or with the best regardless of low or high estate. And as to my ability to be a writer, I have often felt the urge to want to write about many things but felt my lack of education and only laughed at myself for thinking of such a thing. You tell just enough to get one wondering, but hardly clear enough to know just how, and why.

“I would like to know on what in my life experience I could give to the public that would be helpful. Could you find out in just what subject or an idea to start on?

“Then you say the latter part of this year the greatest change of all will take place. I would like to know what it will be and if there is anything I could do to prevent a change for what is not best, if that could be. That is like knowing what one’s calling is and not wasting years doing the wrong thing. If one knew how to avert the things not for the best it would save much. It tells just enough for one to want to know more, but guess God wants us to work out our own salvation.

“And the buried treasure or money rightfully belonging to me was not mentioned. Mr. Cayce, I know you are a very busy man and I do not want to ask unreasonable things, but when you have time, will you give me a reading and ask these questions? What in my life experience could I give to others that would help? What magazine would I send same to for publication? What is best for me to do or where go under present conditions? Is there any money or land or buried treasure rightfully belonging to me, if so where?… This is a wonderful gift you have. Every reading seems to me more wonderful. It has given me many wonderful new thoughts.”

R3. 2/23/33 “Mr. Cayce, all these subjects you have listed are so intensely interesting one scarcely knows how to choose. I have read and reread the ideals and purposes of the A.R.E. There are two at the present time I would like to study more fully: 1. Trouble understanding your physical condition. 2. If you wish to develop the Creative Force within. The astrological part is too deep for me [See 1/33 article on Life Readings under 2265-1 Reports.], but VERY interesting, and the power of thought is so little understood or practiced, the far-reaching results are almost frightening. That is why the Bible teaches us everything that is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report, to think on these things. If we would only do this, my, what weak mortals we are - how few even try. Then the last the ‘capacities’ - all things must work together. I feel I have been submerged under results of inability to cope with circumstances and conditions of the later years of my life, which at times almost got the best of me, but there is a power that holds me safe and in Him I am trusting.

“Hope I have not written too much, taken too much of your time. I have often thought of the rdg. given me several yrs. ago and of its telling me I could write useful articles. That must be one of the submerged urges, and believe you will agree with me after you finish this letter.”

R4. 3/8/33 EC wrote sending her “the first of a series of lessons” prepared by the Norfolk Study Group #1 [S.F.G. Book I], asking to know her reaction, and: “I understand there has been in Selma some weeks or months ago an individual who has conducted a series of lectures and studies along somewhat similar lines. Have you met him, or do you know anything about them? Dr. Pennington, I believe, was his name.”

R5. 3/23/33 “I rec’d the Study Group work and have read and reread many times, and is I guess pretty deep for me. I love to study anything that will bring me more knowledge of God, and anything I can learn that I may be of more help to humanity. That is what I most desire. I should like very much to be able to heal or help uplift those in darkness. I shall enjoy reading this work from time to time until I get a little more into it, first see what I can find that will give me light.

“I heard of Dr. Pennington. A lady up town who went to his lectures told me they were extremely interesting. This is one of the things she said: He spoke something about going out in the woods and talking to a TREE, and she didn’t see why he could not have said talk to God instead of the tree. She could not just agree with him in many things; she said he seemed to be talking science instead of God, but that it was fine and she would enjoy hearing more about it, it made one think. I did not know of the lectures in time to attend.

“I thank you, Mr. Cayce, for your help and interest and may God bless you in your work from day to day.”

B2. 6/1/26 Reporting on her son’s Life Reading, 2657-2, she wrote: “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate what you have done for us. And now I am going to ask you something else and will leave this to you, too, if you will without hurt to you, give me a rdg. along this line. It may be a Life Reading or not, I don’t know how you can get this, but I have been told several times by different ones that there was much money I was entitled to but they could not see if I would get it or not. A colored man gave my brother location in Miss. where much gold was buried and he was not to tell it till he knew he was going to die, then he was to tell it to a white man that had befriended him. This man was half Indian and worked for my brother. He came to my brother’s house one night and told him, where this gold was. My brother did not think much of it until a week later the man died, but my brother never did go see if the story was true. I have the location of the place, and I have often thought it may be true, and if you could give me a rdg. and ask the question, is any money rightfully belonging to me obtainable, and how and where, if I get rich will surely pay you well - ha! ha! Also ask the question what would be best for me to do under present circumstances. If this is asking something you do not care to do, Mr. Cayce, it will be alright. I know how you feel about some things of this nature, but if you could do it without hurt to you, I certainly would appreciate it and, as I say, if I find anything good would certainly make it worth while for you.

B3. 6/9/26 EC’s ltr.: “I believe we can get this in a Life Reading for yourself. I’d like to undertake it and see, if you desire to have same. So send me the birth date, place, etc., necessary for it, and we’ll get this also just as soon as possible.”
