GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: Now, we find the body very good in many respects. There are some conditions that give the body distress and uneasiness at times. This condition is produced by the over amount of toxins in system not eliminated in their proper channels, this then causing distress, especially in the digestive system, through the various channels, as will be seen.
-
Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body, [1097] we are speaking of. First:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, we find this shows the effects of the toxins or poisons as are not eliminated being carried through the system, and will eventually, were these not corrected, bring on two conditions: That of the high blood pressure [See 1097-3, Par. R5], and of a form of that condition called rheumatism, see?
-
The condition in the nerve systems are very good, when the general condition is taken into consideration, the cause or the seat of the trouble being from two causes, that may be corrected, and then that given in the system that will adjust or give the correct incentive for the adjustments of the system to call or produce that which will bring the normal equilibrium throughout the body. These causes: First too much tobacco is used by the body, and this, with the gastric juices of the stomach, produces too much acid in the system and causes the continual gnawing, as it were, in the cardiac end of stomach. This, of course, produces then in the pyloric end an irritation which disarranges, as it were, the effect of the juices as are produced by the pancreas, spleen and liver. Hence indigestion takes place. Then again in the lower end of the system, or as the system absorbs from that digested for the rebuilding, this being rejected, produces in the hypogastric that effect that produces pains, distresses, gas, belching - all, in the stomach, see? Another condition aiding and abetting, as it were, this condition is that as is seen in the teeth, for with this pus continually forming in the system, this overtaxing the body, with that already created in a defective eliminating and assimilating system, produces then still another form of toxin, or conditions in the system to be eliminated. This of necessity being acted upon by the blood stream, and especially in the liver, causes distress again.
-
Then, the conditions to be met are these: First correct the condition in the teeth by local attention to same. Do not use or chew so much tobacco. Then take in the system (and he won’t use so much while he is taking this medicine, especially) these properties: Prepare this first as a carrier:
-
To 1 gallon of rain water, add 16 ounces Wild Cherry Bark. Reduce by simmering to 1 quart, see? Strain. Add to this 6 ounces of cane sugar, first dissolved in as little water as it will dissolve in - hot water. Then add:
Compound Syrup of Sarsaparilla…1/2 ounce, Tincture of Stillingia…1/2 ounce, Essence or Tincture of Poke-Root…5 minims, Essence of Yellow Dock Root…30 minims, Essence of Burdock Root…10 minims, Podophyllum…1/2 grain,
(the dried should be used, or dissolved and then added to this, or the Essence of the root from which this is prepared, which is Mandrake Root. In this case, use 3 minims)
Buchu Leaves (this preferably the Essence or Tincture)…10 minims, Grain alcohol…4 ounces.
Shake this solution together, and shake before each dose is taken, and the dose will be teaspoonful 4 times each day, before meals and before retiring.
-
With this correction, and with these general conditions, we will find this body will be relieved of this trouble, and save self from much suffering in the future.
-
Do that.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 7/10/26 [1097]‘s ltr. to EC:
My dear Cayce:
The personal reading came as well as your letter of the 29th ulst., both of which you know are very much appreciated.
In so far as the reading is concerned, I believe you have diagnosed my case verbatim, and I shall immediately proceed to follow suggestions made. I have never used tobacco in any form, but chewing and have often thought that same was injurious to my general health, but continued to partake of the weed, not specially for the love of it, but believing same to be beneficial to my gums and teeth, neither of which have ever been the best in the world. I can cut the tobacco out and if it is found that my teeth cannot be properly corrected, upon which I have already had much work done, I will simply have them all pulled out and have fitted a false set. This I do not appreciate of course, but if the present ones impair my health, then there is nothing left for me to do. You have no idea how much I appreciate your interest, and some of these days I hope to be in a position to substantially demonstrate my interest in you.
