GC: You will have before you [1548], present in this room. You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, Miss [1548].
-
As we find, conditions in the general continue to be on the improve.
-
There is more and more a replacement throughout those areas where there have been disturbances through the lung.
-
There are NOT more adhesions of the pleura. There are no live tubercular forces through the system, or through the lung area.
-
To be sure, the weaknesses and the inclinations as yet exist, - as indicated by the tendencies of portions of the right lung to settle. Yet if the antiseptic reaction is kept, by the gases from the Brandy, as well as the precautions for the building up of the calcium in the blood supply, and keeping sufficient of the Acigest occasionally that there may be in the assimilating forces better calcium reactions, we find that even this reaction may be prevented.
-
Take the precautions as to dampness, as to cold, especially as to keeping the feet warm.
-
And keep the eliminations, especially as related to the liver and the kidneys.
-
Thus we will keep the body on the improve.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes pain when coughing near heart and left shoulder blade? (A) This same condition as indicated, - the inclination for the lung film, or the lung area, to sag, see? because of the lack of the vital forces in the blood, that tends to dilate, as in the respiratory reactions, or the breathing in and out.
Keep away from any activity where there are dust particles, or those conditions that would tend to make a great strain.
Don’t lift things high above the arms, or ANY over the head; though exercises of such a nature - gently taken - will be most beneficial, - as of early morning or late evening; such as standing and gently rising on the toes, gradually lifting or raising the arms - not pushing up quickly, or fast, but gradually - so as to fill the whole lung area with fresh, pure air, or that which is through these periods filled with ozone of the ultra-violet light or rays.
-
(Q) Did auto accident hurt left side? [See 1548-5, Par. R1.] (A) Only a strain, or a form of congestion - which is being removed.
-
(Q) Considering present physical condition, would it be harmful to resume office work? (A) Not before the early spring or early summer.
-
(Q) Is present use of cigarettes harmful or retarding to healing of lungs? (A) Provided these are not too often indulged in, they are inclined to be beneficial rather than harmful. But whenever these cause a filling in the cardiac portion of the chest, or the stomach, leave ‘em off!
-
(Q) Are there any diseased or infected teeth? If so, which ones? (A) As we find, there is no immediate disturbing condition. If there would be the massaging of the gums in the present about once a day with an equal combination of salt and soda, and then about once a week the use of Ipsab not only as a massage but as a rinse for the mouth - or wash - these will be kept clean.
-
(Q) Give corrective diet. (A) All of those things as would include plenty of nuts and fruits, especially figs, and the like - especially through the winter months. Plenty of citrus fruits, letting all of the orange juice carry a little of the lemon. Plenty of grapefruit, and occasionally the pineapple; though this not so much as the other citrus fruits, unless FRESH pineapple is taken. Apples, - preferably only the cooked. Fish, fowl and lamb as meats. Plenty of leafy vegetables, and - of course - vegetable juices occasionally may be used instead of the citrus fruit juices. Cereals, - preferably the combination of wheat and rye, which may be used singly or combined (as in Maltex), or the steel cut oats (rather than rolled oats). Do not mix cereals and fruit juices at the same meal, however. The whole wheat cracked cereal is preferable for the wheat cereal.
-
(Q) Any other advice for the body at this time? (A) Keep the mental attitude, ever, in a constructive, creative influence. Know that as the body rebuilds itself, especially as related to the sensitive influences of the sympathetic nerve system and the new blood supply, it is not to hold resentments nor any antagonism, but rather being a creative, helpful force in every way and manner. Be as tolerant with others as you would like for others to be tolerant with you.

We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. GD’s note: Attention is called to 1548-5, Par. 12-A of this reading. In a discussion with her brother and others, I heard Miss [1548] relate the following incident: During the Christmas holiday of 1939, her brother was driving with her along a country road. When they turned in on the main thoroughfare, the car skidded and spun around 3 times, throwing her out on the concrete pavement. Although she was shaken up a bit by the accident, she was more frightened than hurt, and did not require medical aid.”
R2. 5/29/40 See sister’s reading 1523-11, Par. 28-A indicating their karmic relationships from early America incarnation.
R3. 8/17/40 She contributed to A.R.E. expansion program.
R4. 10/2/40 She submitted a case history of her condition to date:
Physical report - for THE ASSOCIATION FOR RESEARCH AND ENLIGHTENMENT, INC.
APRIL 18, 1936 - Entered Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Fla., under Dr. Bruner. DIAGNOSIS - T.B. advanced case - both lungs infected; cavity in right lung measuring 3 1/2 cen. (appox. 1 inch) sputum positive. TREATMENT - Confined hospital 4 months, during which time pneumo-thorax was given in both lungs. Left Miami June 24, 1936.
JUNE 27, 1936 - Entered Bellevue Hospital, N.Y., under Dr. T. W. Kirnse residence physician acting under specialist. TREATMENT - Due to necessity of operation. Pneumo-thorax was continued. Sputum positive X-RAY REPORT - 7/1/36 - Chest: Rt. side: Pneumo-thorax with about 25% collapse of upper lobe of the lung. Adhesions at the apex. The cavity below clavicle is not collapsed. The uncollapsed portion of the lung shows nodular infiltration, fibrosis and coalescence of the lesions, most marked in the middle third of the lung. Similar changes in lower half of the left lung. Dr. Slutsky. N.Y.
SEPT. 1, 1936 - Transferred to Sea View Hospital, L.I., under Dr. Lecher, acting under specialist. TREATMENT - Pneumo-thorax continued, waiting for numerous specialists to agree upon time for operation - possible pnenumalisis. Sputum positive. X-RAY REPORT - 9/2/36 - There is a bilateral Pneumo-thorax present. There is a nominal amount of fluid in the right base and extensive collapse of lung, the apex of which is still suspended from the upper chest by numerous band adhesions. There is a large cavity in upper lobe, immediately beneath site of adhesions. There is a peripheral collapse of left lung which shows no definite excavated lesion, but there does appear to be an acinous nodose seeding throughout the lower two-thirds.
SEPT. 29. 1936 - Entered Manhattan General, N.Y., under Dr. Pol Coryllas, (deceased) (physician for the king of Greece - reported) This change was made due to continuous postponements - or in order to receive specific and immediate attention.
OPERATION - Sept. 29, 1936. Pneumolysis on right lung. Confined to bed for six weeks, during which time pneumo-thorax was discontinued in the left lung - indefinitely. Pneumo-thorax continued in right lung Dr. Hoeur acted assistant to Dr. Corylles.
TREATMENT - X-ray taken at frequent intervals through this time. (Only possible to secure reports on two of them.) X-rays showing more collapse-therapy.
RESULT - After operation the cavity, due to pressure was closed to some extent, however extreme pressure on right lung, sternum, and heart were pushed to left of the body, making organs and left lung crowded to abnormal position, deducing breathing space to minimum - making movement of body almost impossible. [GD’s note: 10/28/36 See Dr. Pol Coryllos’ letter filed in 1548-1, Reports.]
NOV. 4, 1936 - Came home due to mental and financial conditions.
Continued pneumo-thorax under Dr. C. Harrell, Norfolk, Va. in right lung (only) for two weeks. Dr. Harrell advised return to sanatorium.
NOV. 17, 1936 - entered Grendy Sanatorium, Norfolk, Va. under Dr. M. F. Brock.
DIAGNOSIS - Discontinued pneumo-thorax for 2 months, hoping right lungs would assume normal position - then after this rest period, began giving Pneumo-thorax very moderately in right lung only.
THIS COST APPROXIMATELY $1,500.00
R5. Date of Reading March 12, 1938. Case No. 1548-1
(1) In your opinion did the analysis of the Reading cover the condition? Definitely - yes.
Work on play-ground for 2 1/2 years. 1934 and 1935.
Had a fall in 1922 - injury to back. Very uncomfortable at the time, and bothered off and on for the next year and a half. Went to an osteopath in Norfolk, for two treatments. He said that two of the ribs were pressed together. The following year in W. Va., had four or five treatments from osteopath there.
Acutely ill while in West Va. Doctor said that it was kidney colic, and possibility of gall stones. This reoccurred from time to time.
(2) Have the suggestions given in the Reading been followed exactly as outlined? Unable to get keg until one month after the reading. Osteopathic treatments began at the same time. Pneumo-thorax was discontinued after the last check reading.
(3) Describe the extent to which improvements have resulted? Improvement indescribable. Weight normal. Cavity healed. Vitality and color in complexion restored. Normal life possible.
(4) Comment - Case not complete as yet.
Date Oct. 2, 1940 Signed [1548]
(5) Physician’s advice. At the time I left the Grandy Hospital, Dr. Brock stated that I had an arrested case, and that it would be necessary to continue pneumo-thorax in right lung indefinitely as well as daily rest, etc. - adding that to discontinue this would result in active condition in lungs. After following the Readings over a period of one year and a half, and continued X-rays, Dr. Brock asked if I had gotten religion, since that would be the only explanation he could find for the continued and marked improvement.
