This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 2nd day of May, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1561], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, New Jersey.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1561]; this we have had, in its various phases, before.

3. As we find, conditions which exist of a disturbing nature in the present are the results, mainly, of intestinal flu. And the inflammation that causes the temperature, a little nausea, weakness, upsetting through the alimentary canal, stiffness through the joints at times, catches in the hips and back, pains at other times through the shoulders, the drumming in the ear, and the tendency for slowing of circulation there, - these arise from pressures produced in the areas through the alimentary canal, where inflammation outside of the canal itself - but in the abdominal area - causes these, through the reflexes and the lymph and emunctory circulation there to give those uneven reactions to the activity of the heart, the liver, the circulation and the kidneys.

4. We find that the irritation also has been maintained by too great a quantity of the type, or combination of the type, of minerals taken as a laxative, which has been too severe; causing a strain on the lymph portions through the canal in certain areas.

5. About an hour at the time, each day for about two days, we would apply the Onion Poultices over the liver, the gall duct, and extending to the caecum area; prepared in this manner:

6. Prepare a thin gauze or cloth of sufficient size to cover this area. Cut up onions very fine; heat them, not cook them too much but heat them; mixing with them - for this quantity - about a tablespoonful of corn meal, - preferably the yellow corn meal. Spread this on the cloth, covering with a heavier cloth, - warm, not too hot, - and apply to the body.

7. After this has been on for some ten minutes (not in the beginning) apply an electric pad, and let this heat for at least thirty minutes more, see?

8. Then this may be cleansed off.

9. As a laxative, - during the two or three days this is used, - take Senna Pod Tea. Take at least a cup of the tea. Use a good pinch of the Senna Pods or Leaves in a cup, pouring boiling water over same and allowing to stand for twenty to thirty minutes; strain, and when sufficiently cool, drink - preferably doing this in the evenings.

10. Do not take too much solid foods through the period this treatment is taken. Don’t take solid foods through these periods, whether two or three days.

11. When this has acted sufficiently with the body-forces, - then the next day have a good hydrotherapy treatment; this including a colonic irrigation, with a thorough rubdown - having with same, or just before the rubdown, a hot and cold needle shower.

12. Do these, and we will relieve these tensions, taking the tension off the body-forces, and reactions will be good.

13. We will find that these conditions in the head, through the throat, through the alimentary canal, this tired, achey feeling, heaviness through the limbs and feet, will disappear.

14. Ready for questions.

15. (Q) Should I discontinue all present treatment I’ve been taking? (A) As suggested, some of these have been too severe.

The electrical treatments, while they aid, - these are only stimulating other centers to an activity not good.

16. (Q) Blood tests indicates malaria, typhoid, pneumonia and other toxins. (A) As indicated, this is the effect of flu germ in the lymph and emunctory circulation, especially through the alimentary canal.

These applications indicated will tend to draw in such a manner, with the character of properties to be given, and followed by the water treatment, as to cause this to be eliminated.

R1. 8/15/44 He wrote: [Requesting a check reading on his mining interests and] “Too, I need a check reading for my continuing low vitality, underweight and lower intestinal or bladder ‘discomfort.’ This isn’t maybe. Dave Kahn says you’re booked a year ahead! Good, but - this has discouraged requests for check reading for some of the old ‘patients.’ Wonder if some of these ‘checks’ might be wiggled in somehow?” [See 8/25/44 EC’s reply under 1561-11 Reports.]

R2. 4/16/45 Letter of condolence re. EC’s passing; then: “I gave my last physical reading (re. intestinal pains) to Dr. Reilly at the Rockefeller Center health place and they have lost it! Have had a return of the trouble and wonder if you could have another copy mailed to me. The reading was on 5/2/43 [1561-22].”

R3. 4/26/46 Letter to HLC: “Have just returned home from a hospital after a six weeks stay (intestinal tumor involved with colon, etc., which had to be cut out). They call it a 2-stage operation and I will have to go back shortly for final sewing up, etc. There was nothing malignant but I dropped from my 140# to 95# - back now to 104#. I’m coming along fine but it will be late summer before I’m doing any travelling again.”

R4. 9/10/46 “Have now regained my normal weight and will shortly have the old vitality and pep.”

R6. 11/8/72 He renewed his membership, saying: “Beginning in 1938 annual dues have been my Sept. 6th birth anniversary present but this, my 92nd, got all scrambled up-on account of illness… Wish I could get down [to Va. Beach] but haven’t been getting even to N.Y. [from N.J.] for the last several years - ticker wasn’t ticking just as it should.

“Give my best to Hugh Lynn and to Edgar E., and to you [Bob Clapp], many wonderful years.” [1561]

R7. GD’s note: Subsequently Mr. [1561] donated some books to the A.R.E. Library.

R8. 5/26/80 A friend of the family wrote that Mr. [1561] died a few years ago. She was trying to find Mr. [1561]‘s wife who had moved from the old home address, but we could not help since we had not heard from either of them in recent years.

B1. 6/1/39 He obtained 1561-7 in re cataracts on eyes, detached retina.

B2. 4/16/43 He submitted questions: Blood test indicates malaria, typhoid, pneumonia & other toxins, resulting in fatigue & intestinal & other irritations. If this is so, what is the antidote & curative procedure? I have been taking Short-Wave OSCILLOCLAST trs. in various sequences of time which are supposed to stir up these toxins that they may be eliminated via enemas and physics. IS this helpful? Have been taking Oxy-Cristine as a physic. Is this o.k.? How can I clear up my left ear from the irritation & annoyance of past several months? What other procedure to get back to my heretofore good health & vigor? In conjunction with or in addition to short-wave trs., what may relieve the intestinal aches & discomforts, & those of the region of back & kidneys? Will suggested tr. preclude or will I be able to resume my work & travel?
