This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of March, 1942, in accordance with request made by Mr. [2091], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:40 to 10:50 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Texas.

1. GC: You will have before you the well being drilled in Smith County, Texas, one and one-quarter miles southwest of Winona, on the McClung tract; now being promoted by Herbert M. Ogg, and in which [2091] is interested. If possible, please advise procedure. What are the prospects on going a little deeper?

2. EC: Yes - Yes - we have the operations here, - Smith County, one and one-quarter miles southwest of Winona, on McClung property.

3. As we have indicated, most of Smith County has areas in which oil in paying quantities MAY be produced.

4. These present operations we find a bit off of structure, yet by going deep enough production may be obtained here that would drain a great deal of territory.

5. That to the east and to the northeast would have been more favorable. But until those sands are reached in which there is the production in the deeper territory in this area, we would not give up hope.

6. (Q) Approximately how much deeper should they go to reach this sand? (A) Until they reach the sand that produces in this area in the deeper levels, see? Here it may require to fifty-six hundred (5600).

7. (Q) Approximately how far from this present operation is the location that would be better? (A) About four and one-half to five miles east.

8. (Q) Any further advice? (A) We would not give up until reaching these sands, though its off structure - to the west of structure.

9. We are through for the present.

B2. 2/27/42 [2091]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I have been meaning to write you but did not do so until the whole matter was settled, to say that another little oil drilling operation is to take place near the plantation which I hope may be successful and lend strength to a deal for the further drilling on the Carmerson property.

A certain Mr. Herbert M. Ogg, a friend of Mr. Sells of the Sells Petroleum Company and of Mr. Killam, a large independent oil operator [See [1561] series] with property in the district, was prospecting around for the opportunity of promoting a well. The Carmerson property, as you know, was under negotiations with Myers and Marquess, and Ogg wanted to locate a well near the properties of Sells and Killam. He offered me an interest and we compromised on a location about four miles southwest of our property and west of Winona.

Last week the papers were all settled except for the final touches of an agreement with the driller, Mr. Hollandsworth. Now everything is settled and the driller has begun to move in. I thought you might be interested to hear of this and to know what was going on.

Mrs. [2174] has been clinging faithfully to her negotiations with Marquess [Geo. L. Marquess] and Myers [R. T. Myers], but some of us have begun to lose faith in their ability to do anything for us. In any event, if by chance Ogg should get a well, this would add to the hopes of a deal to drill our land either through them or through someone else.

The winter must be about ready to leave you in Virginia. If all goes forward as planned I hope to take a trip to Texas in a week or two to see the end of the drilling and see a little of an early spring there. Has the Information given you any news of the general war situation?
