This psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of March, 1942, in accordance with request made by Mr. [2091], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:05 to 11:10 A. M. Eastern War Time.
-
GC: You will have before you the well being drilled in Smith County, Texas, one and one-quarter miles southwest of Winona, on the McClung tract; now being promoted by Herbert M. Ogg, and in which [2091], is interested. Considering that they have found sand at about 5700 feet, but cuttings are negative, you will please advise if they could successfully complete the operations. You will answer questions that may be asked:
-
EC: Yes, we have the operations here - we have had before.
-
As indicated, this is somewhat off structure, but in the present operations and sands this should be able to be made producing, as it is below some structure to the East and North of operations; though it may be necessary to shoot same - which would require cleaning and other operations - if allowed here.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What do you advise now as the next step? (A) As just indicated, if it is possible or practical in these same sands and with the tests that are being made, this could be made to produce. Fifty quarts would make the connection here.
-
(Q) Any other advice? (A) This as we find in the present.
-
We are through.

R2. 4/9/42 [2091]‘s letter to GD:
Dear Gladys:
I have been meaning to write to you for a very long time. In my rush to get income taxes out of the way before going to Texas, I put off writing and as you can imagine, there was not a quiet moment down there. In our troubles, I appealed to Mr. Cayce, as you know, and tomorrow or within the next few days, I hope to write to him in detail. [2246] who is still in Texas says that a map and proposition is being sent to me which seems to have to do with drilling about where Mr. Cayce indicated it would be good to drill and I shall wait until I get this map before writing. Unfortunately we couldn’t do any cleaning and shooting as we were told so the whole attempt had to be abandoned. I wish I had asked Mr. Cayce before the location was picked. As a matter of fact I had intended it to be a little farther east, but it was shifted slightly westward, I think, because of the doodlebug of a man named Staples who I believe picked the actual site.
R3. 4/15/42 [2091]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Dr. [2246] wrote that he was sending me a proposition and map about some land near where the Information indicated that a well should be drilled. This “proposition” however, turned out to be merely the fact that 1000 acres could be purchased about a mile south of the spot 4 1/2 to 5 miles due east of the Ogg well for $5.00 per acre plus a deep test. I could take a part interest in a well and buy up a little acreage, but this is too big a proposition to try and swing. I had hoped that it might be one about which I might write to you, as I wish I had done in the case of the Ogg well, before starting. Ogg switched his location slightly westward because of the findings of a man with a doodlebug and from what the Information gave, I think we should have got a well but for this change.
I appreciated very much the fact that you were willing to break in upon your program and try to help me with readings. I was at a loss to know what to do and turned to you for help. When we had gone down the requisite number of feet, it was impossible to clean and shoot as suggested as the driller was anxious to get his rig away and it would have meant a big expense to set pipe and shoot. Therefore we decided to shut down and perhaps pick a site farther east or north on another occasion. Having tried three times unsuccessfully, I hope we may be able to get a real well next time. We shall have to wait, however, until someone comes along who will join with us in drilling again. It interested me very much to see that the Information spoke of this last territory very differently from the way the Carmerson land farther north was referred to. It seemed too that this last area must be an entirely different structure. Again very many thanks indeed for stepping in and helping me when I most needed help. I enclose a check for $40.00 which would be for one reading and two check readings. Is that right?

R6. 2/15/43 [2091]‘s letter to EC:
Have you any more news of Texas or of world events? I have a note from Dr. [2246] this morning telling me of a rumor that while the government was drilling for water for a camp to the south (and presumably east) of the Ogg well, gas and oil bubbled up in the mud and had to be cemented off. This rumor supposedly came from a member of the drilling crew.
Yours very sincerely,
R7. 6/3/43 He referred Miss [3328] for a Life Reading and a Physical reading for her mother, [3097].
R8. 12/30/59 GD’s note: To this date Mr. [2091] had remained interested in A.R.E. work.
