This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of December, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [264], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [264], these conditions we have had before.

3. Ready for questions.

4. (Q) What causes seeming swelling or projections of growth on my stomach which causes difficult breathing, and what would correct it? (A) The manipulations that would set up drainages would be the more helpful. If there is the building up of resistances, now would be the better time for the operative measures, if the body chooses this form of correction. For, with the general conditions of the body - that is, the change in the periods, or the menopause, these - with the activities in the present - would be entirely eliminated from the body-forces.

5. (Q) You mean entirely eliminated through operation? (A) Entirely eliminated through operation; the after effects, or this long period that usually presents itself at such periods.

6. (Q) Will the growth now be absorbed, instead of being removed by operation? (A) As has oft been indicated for the body, it can be - but it will require a great deal of those activities in the manner as we have suggested - the use of the electro-therapy or the hand electricity passed through the growth.

7. (Q) What causes swelling in my abdomen and what would correct it? (A) This has taken on a larger growth. That is why there should be the consideration of the operation or those activities for the applying of magnetic healing. For these in themselves will be a great strain on the body when great eliminations are set up. For the body has overtaxed itself and caused a larger increase in the flow through the tumor itself. 8. (Q) Is my diet correct? (A) Build up with the use of all the vital energies, especially those that have been indicated for this body.

9. (Q) How much Calcios should I take? (A) A whole wheat cracker spread thinly with this two or three times each week.

10. (Q) What causes heavy feeling around heart, and what would correct it? (A) The great amount of the flow of circulation through the abdomen and the growth on body.

11. (Q) What causes rash and itching on my neck and base of head - please give treatment. (A) Poor circulation, superficially, because of conditions existing in the general circulation of the body.

12. (Q) Should I continue taking Milk of Bismuth, Sal Hepatica, and Eno Salts? (A) These, of course, keep the eliminations well, and owing to the disturbance - It depends upon what is the choice of the body as respecting present conditions.

13. (Q) Should I continue taking wine - what kind? (A) Again, as indicated, it depends upon the choice. This is a stimuli for the body, aiding to enliven the circulation, and the light wines are preferable.

14. (Q) What should be done for my teeth, by what dentist? (A) This depends altogether upon the choices of the body. The addition of calcium and the combination with the iron and the activities from Vitamin-C, as in oranges, is well for the teeth - but depending upon the choice of the body.

15. (Q) Should my glasses be changed - by whom? (A) Not necessarily in the present. May be when there are changes in the body.

16. (Q) Please give any further advice which may be helpful. (A) Keep to those attitudes that have been indicated. Don’t overtax the body, but do make the choice and build up the body for body-resistances.

R1. 12/8/43 She wrote: “Want to thank you for the rdg. Did you read it? Am wondering if you did, or if they told you. I know you already have SO MUCH on you.

“Mr. Cayce, I am not discouraged that it suggested that I build up and have the operation, but I couldn’t help feeling hurt. I regret to let you down, after ALL you have done for me, and I regret to let Hugh Lynn and those in the Association down, too.

“All summer, for the FIRST TIME I have believed that I’d soon be well - especially as menopause was taking place (I have not menstruated since July), I thought the growth would not refill and that I’d absorb the cartilage - and, too, I believed that I was doing ALL I did, for others - and I did not know I was selfish about it. At best God knows I tried not to be. (I have gained ten lbs. this fall.)

“But for the past year I have just said and meant, ‘Not my will but Thine be done in and through me now.’ I have wanted so much to serve. I felt that I was so much needed.

“I am wondering if I was selfish, and wanted you, Hugh Lynn and those interested in the Association to know that I could get well without an operation more than I wanted to be a channel of blessing? I failed somewhere, but if I knew where or how I’d do it God’s way.

“Mr. Cayce, can you understand me? I don’t understand myself. Since the rdg. came yesterday, I have THOUGHT miles and miles - and - if, in order to fully understand, that I may be the more and better channel of blessing by going through the operation - still I say, ‘Not my will but Thine.’

“I believe you know how much I’ll be humbled by having to do it, but I am not afraid. A year ago I would have been wild

• I would have been so frightened.

“This experience for the past six months [See 264-31 Life Rdg. Reports] has done a lot for me. May I only have the understanding and strength to use it.

“I have heard you say so many things that I am beginning to understand now…

“Have ordered both the Calcios and Ventriculin with iron. Guess they will be here Sat.

“Am not overdoing my strength now… I am planning to leave here next Thursday for D.C. if possible. In the meantime I am resting all I can.

“I’ll get the beef juice when I get to sister [678]‘s.

“God bless you, Mr. Cayce, for everything.”

GD’s note: I’m wondering if the fact that her mother-in-law was a Christian Scientist, all during those early yrs. when Mrs. [264] was resenting and blaming her mother-in-law, had something to do with Mrs. [264]‘s determination to eliminate the uterine tumor without surgery? [See 264-31 Reports.]

R3. 1/4/44 She referred Mrs. [3489] for a Physical Rdg.

R4. 1/27/44 She wrote: “Am a long time getting around to answering your fine letter of Dec. 16th, [GD’s note: I can’t find this letter. Perhaps he wrote in longhand or didn’t keep a carbon copy.] and you can never know how much that letter meant to me.

“After I was told that the choice was within me, to get well by HOLDING to the faith and doing God’s will - or the operation, as you know I chose the first, believing it to be God’s will. After receiving your letter I realized FOR THE FIRST TIME that that was MY WILL, and I was taking it for granted that it was God’s will. If the operation is the cup, I’ll drink it [Mat. 2O:22], that I may, through giving up self-will and selfishness, be able to do the things I know I should do, and those I came here to do.

“I want to get another ck. rdg. in about 6 wks. from now, and ask some questions as to what should be done, and then I’ll know I am doing right…

“Am sending you the best prayers I know. Can’t imagine you getting dictatorial, and I have my doubts. Really it is wonderful that you are holding up as you are.

“No, Mr. Cayce, I’d never be convinced that any of what you are doing is for the glory of man. One only has to be in your presence to know where you get your strength, love, and understanding. Have left your home many days (while Polly the parrot shouted ‘Good-bye’ to me with such relief) and I had new hope, new faith, and new courage to carry on. And now, again, you say you ‘understand.’ May God grant that I may be worthy of the trust He has given me, and of the faith you have in me.

“Am just getting over a cold. Was in three weeks. [853] went to N.C. for me and we got to D.C. on Dec. 20th…

“And while I had the cold I had a temperature and nature was certainly kind. I began eliminating quite a lot, and that relieved so much pressure on my heart and stomach. I was weak, but am picking up fast every day now - and will soon be strong again.”

R5. 2/25/44 She wrote: “I am improving.”

R6. 3/20/44 She wrote: “Mae wrote me you were sick, and this is one letter you will not have to answer until you get good and ready… Guess nature is more kind than we always realize. You have been needing a rest for a long time… You have given so much of yourself to others. Truly there is a power aiding you, but even then I don’t believe we are supposed to take advantage of it. And anyway, that is easier said than done, for I have overtaxed myself again and again…

“Would certainly love to see Mr. David E. Kahn while we are here in N.Y., but I know just how busy he is - have never seen so much energy except in Mrs. Roosevelt.

“Am thankful that I have confidence in Mr. Roosevelt. It is amazing to hear what so many people up here think of him. I really would not know what to do, with world conditions as they are, if I really believed we had a ‘human devil’ at the head of our Gov. And Mr. Cayce, many times every day of my life, I am so grateful that you have taught me that there is a divine plan - and that it is our privilege to be a part of it.” [See [3976] series.]

R7. 3/29/44 She wrote asking Mae to copy for her the Revelation rdgs. [[281] series.] “Eleven yrs. ago Mr. Cayce told me to study Gray’s Anatomy and apply it to the truths found in The Book of Revelation, and apply that to my own life, and I’d be able to help others. I can now afford to buy Gray’s Anatomy, as we had so many expenses I could not before, and I am trying to do the things which were given me to do, as I have wanted so much to be able to do them.”

R8. 5/12/44 She wrote: “We have been so anxious to get an apt. Am afraid I haven’t built up enough for that operation yet. It is difficult to get the right food, eating out. I have a little one burner grill, and I fix things on that often - in the bathroom. [853] seems to enjoy what I fix for supper, when he comes in so tired. Have been wondering if I’d build up more if I went to Va. Beach? Also I feel like my duty now is with [853]. He seems to depend on me a lot since losing his parents. And Mr. Cayce, I am tired running away from things - thinking it best for me. I want to face things squarely, and do my duty as it comes. I am so tired of thinking of myself…

“Mother […] still comes to me in my dreams so often. I am praying for her. Is there anything else I could do to help her?

“P.S. Mr. Cayce, [853] and I have talked things over from every angle, and we have decided it will be best for me to go on to Va. Beach. [853] said the way for me to help him most is to get well as soon as possible. I am not improving - and really not doing so well. For the past week it seems so difficult for me to breathe.

“And [853] can rest more if he does not have to look out for me.

“Somehow, what I want doesn’t count like it used to - my desire is to be able to do what is best, that I may be able to make a real home for [853] and to help others who need me… [See 853-11 Reports.]

“And can you realize that I would be there for the Congress? What a privilege! I’ll write [1968] that I’ll be there.

“I don’t believe that I have improved enough to get a Ck. Physical yet.

“Have thought of Mrs. Cayce today, and of, on Mother’s Day, how blest she is to have you, and both of the boys alive and well.

“God bless you.”
