1. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, that are latent and manifested in the personalities of the present entity, [264].

2. In entering, under the astrological influences we find the Moon and the Sun - as well as planetary sojourns - affecting the physical as well as the mental and soul being.

3. These are one when viewed or considered in this material plane, yet - when analyzed (that we may better understand or comprehend) - may well be compared to a formula that may act upon the physical attributes of a body. Alone there may be an influence, an activity, but combined there may be wielded a greater influence upon all phases of the experience of the entity.

4. Hence we find these influences often misconstrued by those who do not take into consideration the will of an entity, the tenets that may be the impelling influence in the mental being, or that influence which is exerted upon an entity from without itself as it is allowed (or allows self) to be led or guided by such impulses.

5. With this particular body (in the present), and those influences that are manifested in the material, mental and spiritual affairs of the entity, there is offered an unusual illustration of these truths that have been presented here.

6. So, in the study, analysis and understanding that may be given or gained from that which is presented, know that this is being given from the actual records that have been written by the activities of the entity through its sojourn in that which may be justly termed reality; a separate entity from the first cause or impulse. And the varied experiences are in the form of matter, mind and spirit; for, as given, the separations must be considered if there would be the more perfect understanding.

7. As it has been often presented by one school of thought, the dwellers upon the Moon (the satellite of the earth) preceded the abilities for matter (expressed in a form that is known as matter in the earth). And this entity was among those that so dwelt, and is influenced by two sojourns there.

8. Hence there have ever been in the experience of the entity periods that are governed by the influence of not only the satellite’s drawing upon the earth and the elements of same but of the mental, in such a manner as to make for physical as well as mental and material changes in the affairs of the entity; when the mental being of the entity allows the influence to dominate rather than dominating the influence.

9. Also as a sojourner in the environ elemental as well as material, the Sun’s activity on the mental has wielded and does wield a powerful influence in the affairs, the activities, the thoughts of the entity. As may be illustrated:

10. On dark days with little sunshine there is an appreciable manifestation of fear and dread. And especially does this occur when the Moon by its position is on the opposite side of the orb or earth.

11. As to this influence also, if the entity uses the will in reference to such influences in a spiritual sense, much alteration arises.

12. Naturally, the question would be: How, when, in what manner, may an entity use such influence as to make for a betterment of those that tend to bring an air or a feeling of oppression upon the mental being?

13. Realizing, then, that there is an influence from without self of a nature that self may be in accord with or in opposition to; for all entities realize they in themselves are both positive and negative influences, and that the first cause - or the spirit - must of necessity within itself be likewise, yet more positive than negative, for it attracts with attraction and repels with rebellion of that same activity of which every entity is a part. [See 264-45, Par. 15-A, 16-A, in re her aversion to flowers and animals.]

14. Hence the realizing of self’s dependence upon that influence is that which makes for the change in the experience of the entity, in becoming conscious - through the mental-spiritual forces in self - of the willingness to be led rather than leading or demanding other than, “Thy will be done in me, use me in that channel Thou, O God, would have me be led.”

15. As to the influences then from the astrological sojourn, these become for an entity (as we have given) as the hereditary influences of the mental being - or impulses; while the material sojourns become as the environmental influences in the mental being.

16. This entity (as we have given) is swayed more by those two greater lights in the experience, both as to hereditary and environmental, from the astrological viewpoint, than most individuals. Why? Because of that influence which has just been given!

17. Hence there is an appreciable influence in the ability of the mental body to become analytical in its every aspect, towards every character of influence in an individual’s experience, rather than mystical or that which may be termed as rote or formula. For, in its essence, the entity’s being is analytical in itself!

18. From the astrological and planetary sojourn, then, we find as these (For this dissertation might be carried on into infinitum, as to the planetary influences related to the earth and the earth’s sojourns of the entity; yet within the earth and the dealings with the material things is there that which the entity has to cope with in the NOW. Yet NOW is the beginning and the end!): Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Uranus; these influencing from the very environ of that which is manifested in their atmosphere (if such a term may be used); for Mercury means mental, as does Venus love, understanding, beauty and the like, as does Jupiter strength, stamen, broadness of vision, temperamental; and these all are from those experiences of the entity in its sojourn through these environs.

19. One then (from the material plane we are judging) mentally well equipped, yet often called by many one that must be at periods “half cracked” or having very poor judgement; at other periods it is seen, from the activities in the mental, that the entity is one with the abilities to READ people’s thoughts, as it were, obtain impressions that are the impelling influences. Yet these judgements at times are rather impulsive than reasoned out.

20. From Venus’ influence the entity is one that is sympathetic, loving, patient, with the abilities of showing kindnesses in unusual ways and manners.

21. While in Jupiter and from its influence the entity is one that is impatient at times for the greater things in the material manifestations to happen, and with the desire to push or make, or force, or drive, or impel, or induce by some unseen force those things to come about. Lack of patience, which bespeaks of an opposite influence from that just spoken of in the universal influences in Venus.

22. With Uranus making for those impetuous influences, as indicated from both Moon and Sun as well as from the activities that the entity through its sojourn in the various astrological influences has builded - that bear upon, what? What the entity has done ABOUT its own self in relation to that about it, and allowed to be used as an influence of the more potent influence in the spiritual impulse or first cause! (This applies to every individual, to be sure, but - as given - it is more easily illustrated or demonstrated in the impetuous and impulsive forces or influences in the experience of this entity.)

23. As to the abilities that are made, in or through these influences, we find that there may be acquired - through the application of knowledge of self - faith, confidence, hope, kindliness, patience, endurance, persistence, consistence, such as to bring for the entity in the present the power, the ability, the wherewithal, to become one that may analyze problems for individuals; or, as may be termed from some circles, a mother confessor to whom those of any faith, cult, clime, may go for counsel; and counsel such as would be helpful to them in their immediate and their developing needs.

24. Then, as to the appearances in the earth and that which is as the environs of the mental body:

25. Before this we find the entity was during those periods when there were the settlings of the land, when there were many being persuaded by various individuals who presented themselves in the various activities of the development of the land.

26. The entity then was in that portion from which, in which, it developed or came into being in the present; or in the Carolinas, but nearer that known as Roanoke Island; in the name Dwoidel.

27. Then the entity was well-balanced in body, in mind, and a helpmeet or aide to those in that particular vicinity and environ - until one that came through the land, in the name Bainbridge, led the body far astray in its moral and spiritual intent in the experience; and there came troubles by grudges, by being in the position of not considering self as being led but constantly blaming the body’s associate for the troubles in mind, in body, in associations, and for the happenings that came in the experience.

28. However, in the latter portion - when there was the weighing together of the tenets that came from the influence in the experience of the body’s companion in the present, towards those things pertaining to mental, material and spiritual laws - the entity calmed, and gained through the experience, bringing much to the development of self because of the experience.

29. In the present much of the associations of that experience weigh upon the mental, physical and spiritual influences of the body; as may be seen by self in analyzing same.

30. Before this we find the entity was in that land now known as the Arabian, during those periods when many gathered for the lessons that were gained by the teacher, the minister, the soldier, in the hill country.

31. The entity then was among those who came from the Grecian land, and gained much by the sojourns about this particular surrounding.

32. With the uprising, the falling away, and the call of those of the nationalism (as it may be termed in the present) the entity fell away for the period - and when it sought again for the truths that were given in the experience, brought suffering in the mental and the material influences of the entity.

33. The name was then Celceoin.

34. In the present the love of groups - as a home, as a state, as a nation - has a peculiar influence in the experience or make-up of the entity; yet the entity finds self still questioning as to whether these are well in the experience of every soul, for fear enters in - by the acquisition of judgements from others - from that experience.

35. Before this we find was the appearance which influences the entity in the present, when there were those divisions in the land now known as the Egyptian.

36. The entity was then among those that were in the exercises of the Temple Beautiful, wherein the activities of the body were able - or enabled, through the thought as given by the study of the tenets of the period - to become more and more in accord with that which was held as the development of the body beautiful.

37. Hence those expressions - whether in music, in words, in songs, or in activities in dance (rhythmical dance) - have a peculiar or IMPELLING influence upon the inmost being of the entity.

38. In the analyses of such activities - whether they be for diet, bodily adornment, or the development of portions of the body-physical - may the entity be helpful in offering aid, counsel, understanding.

39. For, the entity’s body will be cleansed in the present, even as it were so through that experience as Ipt-Sa; for the entity then was one well advanced in the mental and spiritual influences, and in the concept of bringing into MATERIAL manifestation the spiritual influences in entities, bodies, souls, minds. And may be used by self in the present.

40. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, and as to how these influences may be turned into those material concepts for the betterment or development of self, as well as for the aid, counsel and strength that may be given to those who seek through these channels:

41. Be strong, first, in His might. Remembering from whence self and all power comes, be guided more and more by Him who has shown the way. Whether in that or the other position in the experience, this will bring for the entity the greatest contentment, the greatest peace, joy, happiness.

42. Be happy! Be joyous! Be gay in the life, for in Life is the manifestation of Him!

43. Ready for questions.

44. (Q) Could I render better service to humanity by becoming a Scientific Analyst or a Metaphysician? (A) This has been indicated.

45. (Q) Where and how have I been associated with my present husband in any other incarnation? (A) Two or three of them! In the Carolinas. In Persia. [853-2, Par. 19-A, Egypt]

46. (Q) Have I been associated with my present mother [851] [See 851-2 on 1/31/35] in any other incarnation? (A) Not in one of these, but has been. Not a great influence, for these are held as apart; yet dependent one upon another from another association in other concerns.

R1. 3/20/33 EC’s letter:

Dear Mrs. [264]:

Many times I have felt that I would like to write, and see just how you were getting along. But I have wondered if I would know just what to say. For, we often feel we would like to say a great deal more than we can find the words to express what we mean to convey.

I hope the information in the Life Reading will be quite helpful and very beneficial. If you will have Miss Gladys or Hugh Lynn give you an outline of the possible association with different individuals for whom such information has been given, it might give you something of an insight into why you feel as you do about the various ones whom you have contacted, and do contact, who are in some way or manner associated with the Work, or who are at least the more active ones - or have been, in the various periods of development, expansion, growth, or whatever it may be termed. The Egyptian experience, at least, would be a very decided one, and possibly from your position at the time you now have innately definite feelings as to individuals’ reaction; as also from all the rest of them. Apparently I, personally, owe you a great deal from our association in the period just previous to this; in fact, I must be paying up for many things that I unthoughtedly, disdainfully, without forethought or something, did during that period to people’s minds, hearts and bodies. At least you will find this interesting, I am sure. Apparently, as time goes on and we have the opportunity to check on information of this nature that was given some years ago, we are able to see that it certainly does make for a better comprehension of the many things that happen, of which we have little or no understanding without such information. [See 294-8.]

I’m glad to say that we are all physically very well here. We are having to hold ourselves very closely in check these days, as we are having so many trials in one way or another. No doubt it is all a matter of the mind; but, as you have said a time or two, it isn’t very much a matter of the mind when the other fellow asks for the payment of his bill!

Your circumstances, surroundings and conditions in many ways now, I am sure, are very well. In many other ways you may be adding an opportunity through them for the manifestation of patience, persistence, in such ways that you have never felt possible. But, he that endures unto the end wears the crown of glory.

Know that we are always anxious and glad to hear from you. We hope that very soon, as the weather opens a little bit, we may have the pleasure of seeing you here again. Perhaps it will be possible for you to get Dr. and Mrs. Brenner to drive you over some Sunday. You know we would love to see you all.

When did you hear from Dr. [957]? and how is he getting along?

R2. 3/24/33 She wrote: “Want to thank you so much for my Life Rdg., also for your nice letter…

“Of course there is so much in the rdg. which I don’t understand, but there is enough in it which I do understand to cause me to believe in the other part, and seek diligently and prayerfully to understand that.

“It is such a relief to know myself, at least in part, anyway. I studied the rdg. for about two hours when I first got it, and since then I’ve felt as though I have communed with my own soul or the God within me. A quiet, calm assurance has come over me. It all seems too sacred to discuss. I realize that God had a plan for me, has for us all, even as he had a plan for the Christ, and to be true to God we must be true to that plan. Truly we must be about our Father’s business, and in order to do that I must manifest a perfect body.

“With the distorted ideas and thoughts I’ve had so long, it is no wonder I manifested a distorted body. Wish I had gotten this Life Rdg. two years ago. I would have been well before now.

“I realize though that this whole experience has meant a growth of soul development which I needed. I’ve always wanted things NOW, and it has taught me patience, and to me now, patience is just another name for God. Even the tiniest flower expresses God through patience.

“I’ll strive earnestly to be worthy of my God-given ability, and with patience run the race, being led and guided by Him, as it is my privilege to counsel and guide those who seek aid through me, and God grant that I may do it wisely and gently, even as you and your household, Dr. and Mrs. Brenner and [853] have dealt with me. Many times I’ve lost hold on myself and through the patience and faithfulness of one of you, have been brought back to the consciousness of the one Power, who has promised never to leave us or forsake us.

“Have improved quite a lot since I have been back at Mother […]‘s. She is lovely to me now - and it is such a relief to me to know that as I am relieved of financial responsibility by being here, that it will enable [853] to meet our past obligations with his salary…

“It is wonderful what God will do for us when we give Him a chance. From my rdg. I realize now WHY so many of us lack balance and also WHY we do not possess it, or rather use it. I have wondered about that and analyzed it from every angle (except the right one) all my life.

“I understand, too, now, why you told me once in a rdg. to analyze my own self first, then use it for the good of others…

“Mr. Cayce, considering the information which I have rec’d regarding my ability to aid and counsel others, should I begin to prepare myself for that at once, or get a professional rdg., asking those questions which I sent Gladys regarding those deals, lumber, etc., which would probably cause me to make some money? Now that I am here at Mother […]‘s I would have time to work on those deals and believe I could put them through while I am getting well. However, I want to do what I SHOULD do, as I realize therein lies all real success. Would appreciate your advice about this.”

R4. 4/2/33 She wrote: “I realize that the fact of me being WILLING to come back here to live means the final step toward overcoming. It seemed that I forced myself to drink the dregs of despair brought on by my physical and our financial conditions, before I was humble enough to be willing to come back here, and NOW since I am so THANKFUL to be here, they are lovely to me… I am improving so much since I have been here…but the understanding of my life I’ve gained through my Life Rdg.”

R6. 4/22/33 She wrote to GD: “I was so happy to have had just that little peep at you all, and it nearly broke my heart to have to come away and not go back in the afternoon. There were so many things I wanted to talk about, and to have you, Mr. Cayce and Hugh Lynn discuss with me, and I wanted to see Mrs. Cayce some too. Bless her heart! She is a brave little soul. It just goes to my heart the way she ‘carries on’ and does her part, so silently and patiently, and asks no credit for anything she does.

“Tell Mr. Cayce I am so pleased with my rdg. [264-32]. It really carries a wonderful storehouse of knowledge, and I am studying it and using it every day. I believe I’ll know now how to use the information given me to such an advantage as to get well so much more quickly. I have tried so hard over and over again, really to the point of sheer exhaustion, but I’ve found from experience that will power may accomplish material things, but it is of little avail in matters spiritual unless understanding precedes it. My Life Rdg. has unfolded for me many things, which makes it so much easier for me to let go, or overcome. Since getting my Life Rdg. and my last rdg. I’ve felt that I wanted so much to discuss them with someone who understood, and as I haven’t anyone, sometimes I just think and think until I feel like I’ll explode. I guess I need this experience too, as not having an outlet it will probably sink deeper into my consciousness. No one here believes as I do or even understands. They are sweet and lovely to me, though, and I am not complaining.

“This time, since I am back here, I really am surprised at myself in the way I feel, for in some ways Mother and Father […] are much more childish, and whatever they say or do does not annoy me. ‘Love suffereth long and is KIND,’ and patience has taught me many things of which I never even dreamed I would or could endure, but Gladys, the beautiful part of it is, after I cease to resent a condition it clears up, or I don’t even have to face it or endure it.

“I am so grateful to God for the beautiful unfoldment and soul development which I have gained through my experience from the information obtained in the readings. Really, I have just learned to live…

“You know my first appearance was on the Moon. Well, now I understand why I never get sleepy at night, and want to stay up for hours after everyone else goes to bed - much to Dr. Brenner’s exasperation and at that time I am happy and so contented - I can think, read, meditate and write with a clearness which I don’t possess in the day. I’ve never been sleepy but a few times in my life, and at night I do not recognize or even see any difficulties. In my soul I am monarch of all I survey, without even making a mental effort. I believe I am strong enough physically to take it in better now, and begin to use it. For so long, I was not strong enough to do anything but take my tr., and even that was quite an effort…

“My sister, Mrs. [678], with whom I am living, is planning to get a Life Rdg.”

R8. 8/30/34 She wrote: “Am studying my Life Rdg., also the Life Rdg. pamphlet…I was under the impression that my Life Rdg. said while I was a dweller on the moon that I came to earth of my own volition, seeing that I could be of service here. I don’t know how I got that idea, as I don’t understand it that way now, since I am studying it.”

R9. 9/11/34 She wrote: “Am studying my Life Rdg. every day and am getting new thoughts and ideas which I did not dream possible. Had you observed that I am repeating my experiences here which I had in my other three experiences? In each appearance though, I GAINED from the experience. I must not have overcome those other experiences very nobly, or else I would not have to be continuously working them out again. From my Life Rdg., I believe I have found the solution to my problem.”

R30. 4/26/43 She wrote: “You know the rdgs. said I had a drive to ‘push, drive, impel, force,’ etc., to accomplish anything I wanted, when I saw no way of getting it, or doing it. I am learning through my own personal experience that patience, faith and understanding bring only the lasting results. I know I have been through a lot during the past year with my stay in Boston and the change to N.Y., together with the physical upsets in my condition just at this time in my life, and I do know that I would have gotten on better had I been more patient.”

R31. 6/14/43 She wrote: “Do you remember that I wrote you that I felt if I could not be of some service to someone or some- where I’d explode, or rather felt like it? Well, I have it - I asked for it. Now I have it twenty-four hours per day…

“Father […] lived a week after I came…He regained consciousness before he died, and called me and told me the financial status of everything, and all be wanted [853] and me to do. I know he did that to keep from hurting [853], and he asked us to look after Mother […].

“Well, [853] went back to N.Y. last Monday, and I am here, doing the best I can. Mother […] is a frail little skeleton, with practically no mind except enough to be going through hell with fear. She thinks the house is filled with vicious people and wild animals. At times she is so frightened that she shrieks and gets rigid. She calls me at all hours of the night, thinking the woman who waits on her has put her to bed on somebody’s porch. She is so pathetic.

“Mr. Cayce, you know I built this distorted condition in my body [uterine tumor, inoperable since 1925!] through resentment of conditions here when I lived here [during pregnancy and following the death of my baby son]. And now I have come back to bring and give LOVE and SERVICE in place of resentment. Isn’t it all just the works of such a merciful God? Am going day and night and it has not hurt me. It seems that I had to come back to be cured by just what caused it, doesn’t it?”

R32. 7/13/43 She wrote: “The only thing that consoled me about not being able to go to the Congress was the fact that I have been to most of them, and have heard and understood so much more than I have ever used, and now I have the opportunity to really use it…

“Do you think it would be worth while for Mother […] to have a Life Rdg.? She is eighty, and she has been seeing ‘folks’ all her life and has lived on fear. I would hate for her to ‘go out’ not knowing why she sees them. She says she would be glad to know…It is worrying her so that she has done so little for others in this life… She has a companion, a cook and me, and she thinks she has no one to help her. Her faith does not sustain her… This afternoon she said while we were eating dinner there were four children in the room watching the table so wistfully as though they were hungry, and said she would have given them something, only we did not have enough to spare. She says nearly all the folks who come here want or expect something of her.

“In my rdg. [264-44, Par. 35-A] you said Mother […] was in power in the Persian-Egyptian period. Am wonderfing if these folks she sees were people she treated unkindly in Egypt. Have often wondered. So often she says they are colored people.”

R33. 7/16/43 EC’s letter: “It might be helpful, Mrs. [264], for a Life Rdg., but it is not possible to get such a thing now for more than six months, even if we made the appointment today - we are just that busy. “And so it is here, I fear. If you and the others can’t assure her, then what can? Read some portions of the Scripture and she will know surely, like the 12th of Romans or the 30th of Deuteronomy, or like that, and she should get the connection if you will point it out…

“It is hard to know [about her past life], but I suspect that many of these folk she has seen before. It must be hard on you as well as her to be surrounded with so much fear, but the fear pervades all the way - as she is still fearful of dividing what she has at present.”

R34. 8/18/43 She wrote: “Your letter has helped so much, and I have been trying so hard to live up to the understanding which I gained from it that I just haven’t had time to write…

“Mr. Cayce, this experience is almost too interesting to be really happening. It is certainly wonderful how God gives us the strength to do that which we are doing unselfishly, and it is also wonderful how much lighter it seems when we understand there is a PURPOSE in it.

“Ever since I have been here I have been actually fighting for Mother […]‘s life; at first, because she wanted to live, and because I was so anxious for her to see more of the truth before she went out. I read the 12th of Romans and the 30th of Deut. to her and told her over and over again, day and night (when she thought she was in a strange home, with a house full of strange people, or that she was on a river bank and the river was rising), that she was in her own home surrounded by loved ones, and that I believe God had sent me here to help her and for us to have faith in God together and He would help us see and know the truth, and that she must do her part. Thank God, one day she roused from a coma and looked at me and said, ‘[264], I am SO GLAD to be at home again. You know I have been away four years,’ and she asked me different questions about the house, saying she had been away so long she had almost forgotten how it was arranged. So now she never worries any more about that, but her one obsession is to see her mother (her grief over that is pathetic), and she refuses to take her nourishment, more than a few teaspoonfuls a day, so now I am trying so hard to keep her alive until [853] comes. She often asks if he is here. [853] has his notice of his transfer to D.C. and is to report there on the 25th, and will then come on to … [N.C.] for a few days. Isn’t that grand?

“Mother […] trusts me about everything and it is such a comfort to her for me to be here. Whenever she is awake enough or conscious she tells me that over and over.

“Mr. Cayce, you know I felt it my duty to help win this war, and when my desire to serve was sincere enough I was shown WHERE I could serve. Interesting how we ‘pay every whit.’ My service meant no honor, no renown, no financial compensation, but just ALL of my strength, my understanding and my faith - with every drawback imaginable. You see, Mother […] is a Christian Scientist, and she asked me to phone the Dr. the night she was taken ill. Mother […] cooperates to the best of her understanding. God is surely merciful to let me work out with service that which I distorted with resentment. I can’t think of a greater blessing one could get from having a Life Rdg. The whole plan of my appearance here, why and how to accomplish it - and now the opportunity to DO it - that which I have been shown step by step.”

R35. 9/8/43 She wrote: “I finally ordered A SEARCH FOR GOD and have read about one-third of it. Have never felt as calm inside as I have felt since reading one statement I found in it yesterday. Will write you more about it after I finish the book. Anyway, I am so thankful I got it while Mother […] is still alive. I can help her so much more…

“[853] came here and stayed four days. Mother […] knew him; however I don’t think she even opened her eyes. Dr. says he can’t understand what keeps her alive. I believe I know why she is staying on. I’ll tell you later.”

R36. 10/22/43 She wrote: “Mother […] died on Sept. 24th. [853] came and stayed a week at that time.

“Have rented the house…They are so nice. Had to get everything out. Am having it painted inside and out. It is getting so pretty.

“I was so tired the week Mother […] died that I actually went to sleep twice standing up. The practical nurse that Mother […] had for nearly three yrs. ‘cracked up’ and had to be sent away just a wk. before Mother […] died… Mother […] never knew she was gone.

“Two months before Mother […] died I stopped asking for guidance for that day. I just said, ‘God, give me wisdom and strength for one more hour. It is for someone else.’ And you may be sure help came.

“Mother […] called me ever so gently, and then slipped out at 12 at night. I had a trained nurse that night - the first I’d had in weeks. She stayed until 1:30 and I went upstairs alone and went to bed. It is not human for one person to do what I have done. God has taken me every step, and still is.

“Will be here several more weeks. Will write again.”

R37. 11/3/43 She wrote GD: “Strange that Father […] died on our wedding anniversary, and Mother […] died on [853]‘s birthday.

I believe our debt [Mother […]‘s and mine] was paid to each other.”

R39. 6/14/46 REPORT OF LIFE READING OF MRS. [264] as told to Gina Cerminara. [The statements appearing in quotation marks are statements from [264]‘s readings, information out of quotes are Ms. Cerminara’s commentaries.]

264-31 - “on dark days there is an appreciable manifestation” etc. Yes; ever since childhood has felt apprehension and dread on dark days; even if the sun is obscured for an hour or so, feels depressed.

Finds that in making the statement given, “Thy will be done in me”, she feels lifted from the depression. Can’t stand a room in which there are dim lights; loves a room brightly lighted.

“among those that dwelt on the moon” Her mother told her that when she was 3 or 4 years old she used to gather the neighborhood children and tell them fairy stories or stories especially about the moon and what she did when she used to live there; one day her father gave her a spanking for telling lies, so she never talked about the moon again. Mother regretted not having had life reading from Mr. Cayce earlier, so as not to have punished her.

Was nearly two years old before she learned to sleep at night; liked to sleep during the day, keep awake all night.

“ability to become analytical” Yes, extremely analytical of people, things, everything; wears her out.

“temperamental” Yes, very; very strong in opinions, but can change mind and do absolutely the opposite.

“called by many ‘half cracked’” Yes, her sister thinks this definitely, since she believes in a quack like Mr. Cayce.

“lack of patience” Yes, but only with people that don’t know their own mind; can’t stand it if people don’t know whether they want their eggs scrambled or fried, for example; couldn’t stand her mother-in-law for this reason - she never knew what she wanted. Otherwise not impatient at all.

“one that may counsel” Yes, very much enjoys counseling. She came to Va. Beach last year very eager to know everything possible about vocational guidance, because she enjoyed so much counseling people.

Experience with Bainbridge (Mr. Cayce) - From Mr. Cayce’s reading it seems that she was associated with with him at the time; he had the power of healing, while awake rather than asleep; she and he went on platform together and put on shows; her present husband, [853], was then governor general of the state and put a stop to these performances; she later married him. [9/30/58 IMG’s note: EC did not have healing power in the period referred to [See 294-8, etc.] in this report. Nor does EC’s reading give that he was an entertainer. Either Miss Cerminara misunderstood the report, or Mrs. [264] was confused regarding information given in EC’S reading as Bainbridge.]

264-31 - appendages in Temple Beautiful - she never likes to touch flowers, shrubs, dogs, cats; later reading points out the aversion comes from that period, when fins, feathers, claws, even shrubs grew on hands and feet (!)

Likes music; if she has a headache and plays Brahms’ lullaby or anything soothing, like La Golondria, she gets rid of headache; hums to calm herself from excitement. Loves to see dance concerts. Gets greatest relaxation from music.

Interested in diet - from mineral and vitamin point of view; lives by this system herself; lives on natural foods - was cured of pernicious anemia by living on them; eats meat; at home eats brown sugar, brown bread. When her weight was down to 84 lbs., Cayce reading told her to drink fresh blood from slaughter house, then drink grapefruit, which she did; also ate raw liver; was cured. [See 264-1 and subsequent Ck. Rdgs.] She also likes to counsel people on what to eat.

264-50 - In this reading she feels the animals referred to were leopards; has always disliked leopard skin coats; has, since reading, had visions of leopards, with leopard body and human face; has seen her mother like that; has seen whole troops of leopards, with human faces, between herself and the horizon.

“aid given in aiding people in selecting their service” Since high school she has always like to get a person to use their natural talent; has constantly advised people along these lines. This has been her primary interest in life.

264-44 - Relationship to her mother-in-law; she [mother in law] always tried to dominate Mrs. [264] - she was trying to help, but it was possessive - even with her own son. He didn’t even read her letters because they upset him on account of her possessiveness. She walked like a duchess; never made a bed or prepared a meal; always had at least 3 servants. Wouldn’t even move a foot to put down a window 2 inches; called the maid; never answered the telephone.

For the last 5 years before she died she constantly kept seeing tall black people in room, 7 ft. tall; she was frightened to death of them; everybody else told her they weren’t there; Mrs. [264] felt that they were visions from Egypt.

Says her life reading [264-31, 264-44, 264-50] were most valuable to her in that all of us are here for a purpose, and that if we tune in to the One Force we will be shown what the one plan is and how to carry it out. Had always been interested in vocational guidance, but never realized that was her major purpose in life, in addition to overcoming her physical condition. Most important thing is to be kind.

Had always hated to touch animals, flowers, or afflicted or deformed people; yet deformed people always seem to want to touch her - probably because they want to be healed, and sense that she could. Previously had felt revulsion to the deformed; since her reading, has no longer felt the revulsion

• still doesn’t like to touch them, but now feels compassion towards them; says silently “Bless your heart.” Feels she wants to uplift and heal them.

Until age of 14 had never believed a word of the orthodox ministers; was an Episcopalian; didn’t believe in damnation in hell, etc.; readings gave her new philosophy of life.

Had been very intolerant previously of people who didn’t seem to be doing the right thing; readings made her tolerant, recognizing that every person was in the place he needed to be; that every person wanted to do better, but didn’t know how.

Came to realize that you shouldn’t just TELL people the truth; you should LIVE it - i.e. the philosophy of being kind; that people catch this vibration of conduct.

Says she feels that getting a reading is like stepping on holy ground.

Feels no particular interest in Persia or things Persian; went to Egyptian exhibit in Metropolitan Museum, but felt oppressed and depressed; as if she needed a bath; as if she had just heard a ghost story; horrible. Gets along with perfect harmony with all Greeks she has ever known; always feels at home with them, no matter what their station in life.

R40. 6/26/56 She wrote HLC:

“As one of those who knew Mr. Cayce about twenty-six years ago, and am alive and well today as a result of having followed those readings, I want to add two fragments of conversations which I believe will help to clarify the oneness of that lived by Edgar Cayce and the value of the truths found in those readings which he left us.

“First: [See 1663-2 Reports.]

“Second: I remarked to Mr. Cayce that those of us who had obtained Life Rdgs., telling us of our purpose in life, were indeed fortunate. I then said I was sorry for the millions of people who would never have that privilege, and would never know of their real purpose for entering this earth plane.

“Mr. Cayce answered by saying, ‘They, too, can know their purpose in life if they really seek for that knowledge. We are told that if we would KNOW, we must search the scriptures, and while reading them we find that we are told to do God’s will, in our thoughts, words and deeds. We are also told that when we do God’s will, ALL things are brought to our remembrance.’

“And then he added, ‘and that means even our past incarnations.’

“I never had a conversation with Mr. Cayce without leaving with a mental, physical or spiritual nugget of gold which, when used, would make life less complex for me.

“And since I have had many rdgs., I would like to add that in every paragraph I have found, and still find, statements of truths I have never found elsewhere - truths which stimulate me to continue my search for greater understanding - such as will enable my mind, soul and body to function as ONE, as was given me again and again in my readings.

“May God bless you during this Congress. My prayers are with you all. Wish I could be there.”

R41. 7/9/56 HLC’s reply: “Thank you for your beautiful letter of June 26th. I read it at one of our Congress meetings. I wish you could have been here to take part in the program [our first Congress in our new Headquarters - former Cayce Hospital building]. We have a big job ahead of us in the new headquarters and there is a great deal of activity. We are beginning to make some progress.”

B1. From 5/23/30 to 2/7/33 she obtained Physical Rdgs. 264-1 through 264-30 for preoperative uterine tumor existent since 1925. Blood condition had not allowed surgery. Finally the blood conditions improved sufficient to allow surgery but by that time she had determined to accomplish spiritual healing, maintain absence of anemia and eliminate the tumor without surgery by way of absorption. She expressed a great desire to become a scientific analyst or a metaphysician, which her rdgs. seemed to encourage. Apparently her tumor had developed after the birth of a son, who lived only a short time. She and her husband were living with his mother at the time and she blamed her mother-in-law for everything.

B2. 6/16/32 Her husband’s Life Rdg., 853-2, Par. 19-A indicated he was associated with Mrs. [264] as a guard in the Egyptian incarnation and abused that association. [See EC’s dream in re Colonial days.]

B3. 3/5/33 She wrote requesting a Life Rdg. for herself, saying: “Gladys suggested it would help me by knowing WHY I am having this experience… Hugh Lynn offered to compile some questions for me regarding the ability to analyze things which I’ve always had, and, too, I want so much to know why and how to overcome my present condition, so I can go ahead like a normal person, so I can be of service to humanity and to meet my obligations as I should…

“[853] has a traveling position WITH A SALARY, so I am going back to Mother […]‘s so I can be here to get my treatments until I get well…my business questions may not be in order. Am just trying to arrange to make some money… I hated to give up my little home, but could not stay there alone, and he will be traveling until the 1st of July. Mother […] really seems so happy to have me back, and they are doing all they can for me. I have a lovely bedroom and kitchenette but I am eating with Mother […].

“To whom can I sell house and lot on which I have borrowed $500, and at what price?… I have SO MUCH to be thankful for, and have had all the time, but when we could not pay our debts I could not help worrying. I’ve improved a lot since I have been over here.”
