This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of August, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [264], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gladys Davis, Conductor; Jeanette Fitch, Steno.]
Time of Reading 10:30 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. Washington, D.C.
-
GD: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [264]; this we have had before.
-
Many changes have taken place in the experience of this entity since last we had same here. The removal of those conditions in the pelvic organs has been very well done. Becoming active too soon has caused an upsetting of the body-forces. As we find, this is, rather than an infection, too great a strain on the system and some of those tissues, which were involved in the operative measures taken, have become inflamed. The inflammation has caused a distress in the kidney and bladder area.
-
As we find, quiet and a very small quantity of Sweet Spirits of Nitre will aid in stimulating or causing better activity of kidneys and bladder. Take it in small does, say five to six drops in water. This should relieve the tension.
-
It would be well to rub the kidney area on spine with grain alcohol (20%) solution.
-
Then near the head and along the spine and limbs we would use the rub alcohol.
-
Should temperature persist it may be necessary to give the penicillin. Do not give until conferring with, and advice from the one conducting the operative measures.
-
In the diet do keep to that which is strengthening and take at least a tablespoonful of beef juice a day in very small doses.
-
These, as we find, will be helpful, though the REST should give the better reaction.
-
A massage, of course, is well for the body, especially when the rubs are to be given, but give the massage first and the alcohol rub following same.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would Urotropin be helpful? (A) This we don’t find. This may be helpful but penicillin would be better - if necessary, don’t give it yet!
-
(Q) What laxative should be taken and how often? (A) Just so there are the proper eliminations - any good vegetable laxative.
-
(Q) Would girdle or abdominal band be more helpful? (A) The abdominal band is the better than girdle.
-
(Q) Any other advice? (A) Do as indicated and do follow through with each.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 9/16/44 She wrote EC: “‘Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends,’ and you have done just that for me so many times. May God bless you for it and give you such faith and strength as to meet your every need…
“Have had no temperature in a week. Isn’t that wonderful?…
“All of the nurses and doctors looked like the Ku Klux Klan, and Dr. Babcock came and talked to me while my abdomen and legs were getting numb, and he was so gentle and reassuring… About a dozen people who really love me were praying for me during my operation. I could feel their prayers. God grant we may do that for you!
“I have a grand appetite and digestion.”
R2. 11/15/44 She wrote GD: “Was glad Mr. Cayce was able to give a rdg. on himself, so he can have the right tr. Am sure too that the rdg. was most heartening to Mr. Cayce, and only God knows how thankful I am, and I feel sure there are many who are rejoicing, and also praying with us for him daily.” [See 294-212 given on 9/17/44 for Edgar Cayce himself.]
R3. 12/11/44 She wrote GD: “Am still improving.”
R4. 4/13/45 She wrote GD after Gertrude Cayce’s death: “How I shall miss both of them! There are no words to express what I feel…
“[853] has been transferred to DC. We are thrilled. We are looking everywhere for an apt.”
R5. 5/10/46 She wrote Gina Cerminara from Phila., where Mrs. [264] and husband were then living: “Dr. Wayne Babcock here followed a rdg. in operating on me. His books on surgery are taught.”
R6. 2/25/47 She wrote from D.C.: “The food in restaurants in Phila. gave me quite a bad case of colitis, and I have been too weak to even go down town. Have been following treatments suggested in one of my rdgs. for it, and am some better. I can’t stand on a bus, and a seat is almost impossible at any hour.”
R7. 8/28/47 She wrote: “Am so grateful to have had the treatments from Dr. Martyn L. Richardson [D.O.] while I was there. I really feel greatly benefitted.”
R8. 7/13/48 She wrote: “Really feel that Dr. Richardson’s treatments helped me again this summer while there. Am finding that I can eat several more very helpful foods, and I do feel stronger.”
R9. 3/27/50 She wrote: “I have found the value of expectancy (as presented in 3049-1, Par. 24). During the time I was ill and was following the rdgs. I lost ground when discouraged, and I improved rapidly when I held to the faith.
“When finally through ‘believing and living’ while asking in His name, I was told in a rdg. that ‘conditions are now such that the disturbing forces can and should be removed by operative forces’ I had the operation, and was then told: ‘If the desired improvements are to be made, a hopeful attitude must be held.’
“The operation was a success, and I am now well, and doing many of the things in life which I had most wanted to be able to do for so long, that of service to my fellow man.”
R10. 6/20/50 She wrote: “You know my heart is with that phase of the work dealing directly with the rdgs., for through such information as came to me through them, I have not only regained my health, but have learned the importance of the mind, the soul and the body functioning as one…
“Recently I had a Physical check-up and the doctor said, ‘What did you come here for? Your heart, blood pressure blood count, and kidneys are in good condition. All you need is more strength and endurance. Get about ten more lbs. on you and you will have that.’”
R11. 3/1O/60 She wrote GD: “I had quite an experience. For what purpose, I still don’t know. If you have any ideas, do tell me, so I can use it for good. On May 27th [853] and I drove up to a service station for gas. I was driving. When the attendant sprayed the windshield to wipe it, the mist got on my face, neck and arms, and it burned like an acid. I told [853]. I put up my window, and so did [853]. During the night my face, arms and neck swelled up and broke out with a rash. We went to a doctor that afternoon and again the next morning. He advised us to go to a dermatologist, which we did. I got worse. It covered my entire body and I was swollen inside and out. We were in D.C. 12 weeks. It cost us about two thousand dollars. Am over the rash and swelling, but it caused a lot of trouble everywhere. Have been having such a time eating. Food gives me cramps in my intestines. I went down to 75 lbs. I now weigh 90 lbs., and am improving. That rash itched like crazy.”
R12. Sept. 1968 GD’s note: Mrs. [264] phoned me from D.C., she had just heard about my husband’s death. She is still vitally interested in all that goes on at A.R.E. and our work in making the readings available.
