This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 10th day of February, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [267], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: We have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, the entity [267].

2. In entering the present experience from the astrological phases, we would find that ordinarily given in such relationships would carry a great deal of varying conditions. Ordinarily the entity or body would be termed one having many varying experiences, yet arriving - in some portions of the experience or development - at some very satisfactory periods of an experience.

3. As we find here, from the records that have been builded by the entity so named in the present, the sojourns in the environs that have been builded through the varied experiences - and the sojourns in that called hereditary influence in passing through earth’s experience - may account to one much more than that termed from the purely astrological influence.

4. Hence we find from sojourns in the varied environs, that Venus with Jupiter, Mercury and Uranus are the varying influences, with some of those influences in Saturn and Mars as a detrimental or retarding influence.

5. It would be well for such a student as the entity to study that termed a retarding influence by afflictions in certain influences, as to how they affect an entity in a given sojourn.

6. When there is an experience as with this entity, in that influence of Jupiter - and the sojourn from that influence is in Mars before returning through the earth’s sojourn, save as a transition, it is then an adverse; or a pulling, or the tendency - when these influences are in those positions in the experience of the entity - to be influencing in opposite directions, see?

7. We find that Venus is the RULING influence in the present experience of the entity, bringing such abilities and such environs for the body that friendships, love, social associations, make much that causes or calls for thought and activity on the part of the entity.

8. This also has, with its influence from Jupiter, made for what may be termed the saving influences; or those associations, those contacts socially, those contacts from the viewpoint of even material associations, have been the SAVING forces in the activities of the entity.

9. So, the entity, with its personality in this direction, draws those TO self that are CALLED, as it were, from the varying influences in such sojourns.

10. Hence, as may be seen, a contact in the present experience may be as an illustration to the entity; as to how the likes and dislikes of self and associate [Husband, Mr. [317]?] in a former experience make for the drawing together for one common purpose in the present experience.

11. In Jupiter also we find the great abilities in many varying fields. And, with Jupiter and Venus in the ascendency in the present period, there should come in the experience of the entity in the next few years some of the most satisfactory material experiences for the entity in these varying fields. The spiritual developments toward discernments, and the valuation of influences in the experience of the entity, as well as the greater blessings (that may be called) or opportunities in the fields of aiding others to assist themselves in FINDING themselves in their relationships to the mental and spiritual experiences of life. As well as, beginning in that period when Uranus for the entity comes into the benevolent rather than an adverse influence with Jupiter and Saturn (as in the last three years), which would begin about the middle of October in the present year, there will come those greater material opportunities.

12. As to the personalities that have been builded through these influences in the present entity:

13. One tending toward those influences of being rather reserved, even sometimes called shy; yet those closer to the entity know that there are periods when the entity is outspoken, and well-spoken at times, in defense or in the opposite direction of those influences in the experience.

14. There are also those desires or tendencies toward certain conditions in the experience; as the love of delicate shades in nature, whether these tend to cloth, dress materials, decorative influences in the home, or in whatever sphere - it is the tones and shades, rather than definite or decided conditions in such vibrations.

15. One with an appreciation in music; and the minor or short notes, or the half tones are those that to the entity become the more expressive. Especially is the attunement towards stringed instruments, or those of any nature with the SOUNDING or the TONING coming from strings, wires, chords, or cymbals that make the tones, whether these become intonations or incantations in the expressions of emotions.

16. The entity, then, is one turned towards the INNER emotions that come to mean so much in the experiences of the entity; and these are quietly, often GENTLY, spoken of within self; and many of the experiences that have come to mean the most are those that are the least spoken of to others.

17. As to those influences that will make for the changes, as in the change which should come to the experience of the entity through the benevolent rather than adverse in Uranian influence (from the sojourn there):

18. This benevolent Uranian influence, meted with that arising again from the Mercurian (or Mercury) influence, will give the better ability for the discernment of all these influences of the higher vibration, or the higher influences in the experience of the entity.

19. For, while Mercury’s influence through those developing periods in the present experience stood well in the position for aiding in material and mental advancement, with the adverse influences under Saturn and Mars through the last three to six years there has been rather the inability often to consider that the discernments or the judgements of the entity might not be questioned even by self.

20. With the surety, then, that comes with those benevolent influences in Uranus with Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, there will be brought a balancing and a coordination within the influences of the entity in the present; as well as those that may be considered as hereditary from the sojourns in the earth’s experience.

21. As to the appearances, then:

22. In the one before this we find the entity in that land of nativity, but - as has been or was expressed during the experience - far from the birth in the present; rather during those periods when there were oppressions about Salem and Providence Town; of those that chose to give the expression of that felt, from the feelings of those that chose to GIVE the rise to those differences from others. The entity then suffered rather as one that was accused of being able to cast spells upon, or to wield an unseeming influence in, the lives and activities of others; in both Salem And Providence Town, but suffering most in Providence Town, under the name Hester Wayne.

23. There still may be found some of those things, expressions and experiences of the entity during that experience.

24. In the present there is brought those intuitive influences within the activities of the entity. With the development of these, if they are attuned to their variations in the experience, there may come much satisfaction; and much ability of the entity for bringing the desires to others that would come to know themselves and their relationships with the UNIVERSAL forces that may be manifest in that which was given, “He that will be my son, I will be his God.”

25. It would be well for the entity to gain through the experience, that those influences which come from the UNIVERSAL are those that may bring the greater peace; in enabling those in the third, the fourth, or even the seventh expression of animation in the spiritual sense, to better manifest.

26. In the one before this we find the entity in that land now known as France, and in that portion which has so oft been under oppression or the change of environs; but during THIS period it was under those influences that made for the joining together of those that would go in defense of the Holy Land, during that period known as the second Crusade. Then, the entity joined in among those that went to see those that would go across the waters for the defense of that ideal.

27. The entity gained much through this experience, yet with the waiting and the longing brought much discontent; and to the latter days came much worriment that made for indecisions (that arise in the present). For the entity then, in the name Charmiloe, did give much for the development of MANY that had an ideal set in service.

28. So, in the present, OFT is the entity termed - when decision has been made - as a very hard-headed individual; very set in the ways. Yet the PURPOSE is known within self, and when that arises - with body, mind and soul does the entity rise in defense of those purposes, those aims.

29. In the one before this we find the entity during that period when there were many from even the Grecian land going to the hill lands of what is now Arabia. The entity then was among those that journeyed forth to gain something of an understanding of those reports that had come out of that land, and joining self then to those that dwelt or built in that experience the entity became an aide to those that attempted to disperse that gained from the teacher in the land.

30. Being misunderstood, and the things given being misconstrued, there came again those persecutions and disappointments in the experience of the entity; yet with that determination to hold to that which was gained through the experience, though suffering from privation in many of the necessities even of the physical life, the entity journeyed again to those same lands and aided in building anew, even through those destructive influences being brought by the entity’s own people; and builded much within self’s experience, in the name Axelia.

31. In the present there may be seen much of the determinations in gaining that to which the entity sets out to accomplish, in WHATEVER may be the field of endeavor TO which it has chosen for the reaching out. THIS, EVER, makes for development - when the IDEAL is set in constructive influences.

32. In the one before this we find the entity in that land now known as the Egyptian, during those periods when there were the returning and rebuilding of those influences that were carried on in that land when the priest returned from the southern lands. The entity then was among those peoples who returned to the Egyptian land; aiding in building much that was of the material as well as of the mental and spiritual influences in the lives of those peoples, as they sought to coordinate their lives under a spiritual guidance during that period, in the name Apt-Soi.

33. The entity gained throughout the experience. Coming under the influences of the teachers, and later in the influence of the priest, the entity joined self to those of the Temple Beautiful and its services there.

34. Colors, incantations and intonations of music have their particular influence in the experience of the entity from that builded innately in self during the experience.

35. The life, the experiences, may be called both beautiful and constructive during the experience; for, toward the latter portion of that sojourn, many people WORSHIPED that which the entity did - as also the entity itself.

36. As to the abilities, then, and that to which the entity may attain, and how:

37. As may be seen from those experiences, the abilities are present in most any field of endeavor. The abilities to strive, even against odds, are innate within the entity’s experiences.

38. Hold fast, then, to the ideals that were set in that gained through the experience in the Egyptian influence, and we will find that to which the entity may set itself may it turn for material, for mental, for spiritual benefits in even THIS experience or sojourn.

39. KNOW in whom thou has believed. KNOW that those called (and self has been called, as seen by the various experiences in the earth’s sojourn in the various influences through which the entity has passed) have also been predestined; and that there may be the calling together, then, of many that will make for the development for self, for the aiding of others in their spiritual life, in their mental life.

40. Ready for questions.

41. (Q) In what manner should I develop my psychic abilities? (A) In that which is found by turning the introspection into self, in the LIGHT of self’s experience in the relationships WITH the developing periods throughout earth’s sojourns. As this:

In the experience first there was set an ideal in the relationships of man, as man, with the Creative influences.

In the second, as the relationships of the APPLICATION of those influences in the experiences of individuals.

In the next is seen the DETERMINATIONS to hold true, though faltering in those influences.

Again is seen the mis-interpretation of self, and the physical and mental persecutions through same.

Then, turn to that within; and THROUGH that; then when the Voice speaks to self within, HEED that given.

42. (Q) Please explain what was meant by seeking universal source as contact for helping self and others? (A) Seeking the Spirit, or the CONTINUITY of Life WITHIN self, which IS the gift OF the Creative Force in the experience of every entity!

43. (Q) Outline in detail how I could go about the development of self to make this possible in the highest manner? (A) By meditation and prayer in the name of that held as highest to the influences to the Throne itself; for in the TRAINING of the inner self may those ATTUNEMENTS come - even as there is seen manifested in the mental experience those intonations that make for the influences upon the impulses, the influences upon the inner life, are controlled by the gentler, the more delicate tones, rather than the harsh.

R10. 9/7/34 Mr. [440]‘s letter: “The last few days in their house turned from one of joy in helping others to complete hell because of the insane jealousy of one of the members of the household for goodness knows what reason.

“My only desire had been to help them and when I noticed the clouds first gathering, I decided to cut my stay short and leave and would have done so if he hadn’t begged me to stay saying it would be the end of everything between he and his wife if she felt that he had driven me out of the house. Even that, however, would have been better than what followed. I doubt now if their difficulties will ever be totally mended.

“I think I was the dummy being tossed on a sea of emotions with which in reality I had no connection. I was the excuse for the tirade which sooner or later would have come for another reason with the same result. It was an interesting experience. Were I a novelist the plot of a most amazing story could be obtained from it. More than ever I feel we move like puppets in a drama. Free-willed, yes, but little dreaming the results of the activity of that free-will in combination with all the other forces in the universe.

“God knows, I have tried to do the right thing by them both. Time should soon show where my failure has lain.”

R12. 9/9/47 Miss [369]‘s report: “During the last six months she has become quite famous as an artist, using murals for wallpaper designs; started doing flowers that bloom in her area - accepted by several wallpaper concerns in N.Y. Also her weaving has become quite well known and was exhibited in N.Y. She also lectures; claims everybody has creative ability…Both her sons were killed in the war, about six months apart. Also her mother and father, with whom she was living, passed away within a year or so during the same period. Her daughter [559] is living with her. She [267] and Mr. [317] are still divorced; he is teaching at … Military Academy. She has three girls working for her doing the art work, etc. She originally studied art as only a sideline to her music [piano].”

R13. 11/23/49 Miss [369]‘s report: “[267] had a stroke about a week ago; is in … Hospital and completely paralyzed one side - can’t talk, etc. Had the stroke alone in house; neighbor came to door and had to break in - several hours later. Daughter [559] and son-in-law were sent for.”

R14. 10/27/58 Mr. [440]‘s letter: “Thanks for the information about [267]. Please give her our love. I do pray for a miracle that will bring her back her speech and the use of her right arm.”

R15. 4/10/59 GD’s note: Reports have come to me that Mrs. [267] is amazing in that she has continued her art work using her left hand, as she is partially paralyzed - her right arm and left leg, etc. This is most interesting in light of the comment in her Life Reading that “The abilities to strive, even against odds, are innate within the entity’s experiences.”

R16. 4/28/71 Friend Mr. [440] visited her after her daughter [559] wrote him that her mother was dying, and verbally reported:

“Mrs. [267] is barely alive; it took her ten minutes to recognize me and finally whisper my name. However, by her bedside was her easel with some birds on it which she had been painting. Her eyesight is almost gone. She and [559]‘s husband’s mother live together in the house that [559] and husband provided for them. I think it won’t be long now before she passes over. Of course, she has been living partially in that other world ever since I first knew her nearly 40 years ago.”

R17. 6/26/71 Early a.m. Mrs. [267] died in a hospital.

Mrs. [267]: (Starting in undertone, until GD said “Speak louder, please”)

I repeat. Paul again. But he will soon stand aside, for another.

This child will give no scientific information, but much guidance and regard to your spiritual growth - so much needed in one and all.

A complete laying aside of self that the holy child within may grow; each thought His thought, each word His word, each act in His service. Thus must you all grow, that the highest forces may gather here. The future must be withheld, as to you it would seem utterly unattainable that His wisdom, His love and His power guide every moment.

And know, all, that He is ever within you, and among you.

The words of this child are often, in waking moments, those of great ones; heed her voice.

Love impersonally, and individually, and deeply, all you contact in your daily work. Thus only are you an uncrowded [unclouded?] channel.

His blessings be upon you - and the absent one. Gertrude Cayce?]

Q-1. What is the name of the other who just spoke? A-1. Paul only tonight. Another, another meeting.

Q-2. What suggestion should be given to bring this body out of this condition? A-2. Rubbing the wrists, and the quiet suggestion to awaken; that all is well.

Q-3. Who should do this? A-3. The one siting next to her at present. [Her husband, Mr. [317], on the other side of her from GD]

Q-4. Should it be done now? A-4. In a moment or two.

[Complying with the above Mrs. [267] was awakened in a few seconds. For several minutes she felt a peculiar sensation in the head and eyes, a lightness - buoyancy - as if floating away. She remembered this experience:]

“I was walking down a road with trees on both sides with no leaves on them, snow on the ground, and saw a house with great pillars afar off. As I approached the house, leaves came on the trees and grass grew up. I heard a message for [317], but that what I had seen would explain something to him about which we had been talking.”

[Edgar Cayce smelled lavender during this experience.]

Mrs. [267]: (sitting relaxed, after her hands and feet had been unlocked)

Seek not to know my name. I am from the realms where love reigneth.

It is gladdening to the hearts of us all to be among a group where all are seeking truth, where all are earnestly endeavoring to be of service.

Long will you all be associated with each other; [317] and [267] and [2136] of service to Edgar, Gertrude, Hugh Lynn, Gladys, and so the other way.

[317], you and [267] will one day be that center of service you so earnestly desire; instruction given that the higher wisdom may be gained, beauty acknowledged as God, every child taught to see himself and God in his fellow man.

You will go far and wide just so soon as you, [317] and [267] and [2136], can completely surrender self; for there will be brought to you a broader, wider, more glorious satisfying field of service. Tomorrow or a year, depending entirely upon you yourselves.

Be not disturbed about [267]‘s length of time in sleep.

We often have refreshed her, renewed her, in the past. How else has she been able to go on?

All is well.

Q-1. Should we control from this plane the length of the trance, or will she designate when she has finished? A-1. She will stop; then you may ask questions.

Q-2. How can the feeling around eyes, the follows such a trance be overcome for this body? A-2. Determined meditation on the part of [267]. We also will help. It is better tonight, do you not see?

Q-3. Should a suggestion be given to the medium at beginning of trance? A-3. Not necessary, as for some time this has been by her - and should be by you - a secondary part of this particular group meeting.

Q-4. Should the same one conduct each trance experience for her? A-4. Yes.

Q-5. Which one of the group would be best? A-5. [317] always. It is difficult to recall her. The desire to go upward is always present.

Q-6. Should he use the same method of rubbing her wrists? A-6. Yes.

[Mr. [317] waked her. She had the same experience of light everywhere, and somebody telling something about it; same sensation of being somewhere - somewhere; conscious of her throat all the time, not hearing the words - just the sound as if away off.]

[EC said he kept getting the name Adonijah while Mrs. [267] was talking.]

R20. 9/27/33 Wed. night; 9:50 to 10:05, talking (but in trance for about 40 min.)

Mrs. [267]: Very little tonight from this source. Very often spirits, or entities who are strong and wise before coming to the earth plane, inhabit frailer bodies than their fellows. She has been too long asleep to keep her much longer. Some arrangement in your program should be made to offset this.

Q-1. Is it right to unclasp her hands and feet? A-1. Not necessary unless, as tonight, she has been too long in.

We would have you know that we have not failed to see an omission on your part in these group meetings; in your searchings after truth from the Scriptures you fail to draw forth from your study the inner significance of much that could be applied to your individual lives, and life as a whole on earth now.

Nor must you forget that you, who have been shown the way, whose hearts have been quickened and are seeking ever to go onward, have a greater responsibility.

Why not so live that you may prove the truth by what you know? Rise ABOVE present conditions? Is that not what you desire? Be free from the tribulations! Aye! Even greater than these shall visit the world! You need not be touched by them. Do you not know?

[317], remember - in regard to this boy and his father: You are responsible for but one life - your own. See that that is above reproach, and cherish those in your care. The future is bright.

All look up. Faint not. Remember the sparrows. Also remember that you know the way, at least the beginning. Do not forget it is your responsibility. YOU cooperate with the Father, HE will do the rest.

Q-2. Will you answer another question? A-2. Yes.

Q-3. What can we get in our studies to apply individually in our lives? A-3. So far you have considered only the motives of the individuals studied, and the means or instruments about which these things are done. There is much more hidden within.

R21. 10/3/33, Tues. night. In trance at 10:30, began talking at 10:50, lasting until until 11:10 P.M.

Q-1. Do you have a message for us tonight? A-1. Yes. Are you ready?

In this matter of sacrifice, much has been written, but it is well for you to remember that for those children of Israel who were at heart essentially materialistic, ANY offering became to them a matter of self-denial. Do you not see the wisdom in this at that time? Remember that at the time all the masses on the face of the earth had become of the MIND, rather than of the God - as they were at first created. You may smile. Evolution enters your minds. Another time we will go into this matter much more deeply.

But the material was the thing that was the guiding star then, except for the chosen few. Thus, in order to lead them to again awaken the inner life, their contacts must necessarily be of any order that would be in vibrational attunement with such a mental life, - or shall we say - physical, it had then become. This seeking for self. For, were not all the murmurings of the children against God for some material things, some material complaint? You missed all the entire significance that could be applied today to you. ANY criticism, ANY doubt, fear, intolerance, a looking for the shortcomings of others rather than the God that exists under the mass of self, any of that is a murmuring or complaining against the Father. Therefore, trouble, sorrow, any other things that beset you, are brought to you by yourselves, or by that within you that is always striving on upward to re-purify, or again to refine, to quicken, any way you wish to think of it; any of these things - all done not as punishment, but as another period of - shall we say - atonement, or at-onement.

Did they receive the desired goal? Not in the lifetime of those murmuring, nor will you. Forget not!

Q-2. Have you finished? A-2. So much to be said. But not tonight. You are not ready.

Q-3. What can we do to make ourselves ready? A-3. Always when the spirit of God that lives within each mortal is allowed to speak, or to act, or to give, does it reach out for ever higher forces.

So much doubting, fearing, worrying; so little trusting! So much complaining! Canst you never learn? It is all so simple.

Any questions?

Q-4. When in the trance would it be possible for you to play music on the piano? A-4. Later, possibly. At present this subject is not ready for a very deep trance, as you call it, or mortal sleep (earth mind and body sleeping). The tendency of this spirit, which very few of you know, is to go back upward to its home. A deep sleep would permit the spirit to leave. Thus the lighter trance condition, where we are very close but not in actual possession. Thus why the consciousness of the throat and of the dim presence of your voices.

It might be soon, but there must be acquired a greater interest in the things on this plane. Too much meditation, possibly too much seeking just now, the mental faculties not stimulated enough by those around her; there is a withholding of self.

Q-5. Any suggestion as to how she may be trained for spiritual development of these faculties? A-5. Well to be done in the future. At present too much anxiety and stress of mind in regard to the work and future of [317]. It brings forth such deep desires on her part, the energy mental and spiritual is tended toward that. Later, and very soon, [317], when this matter is definitely established. Forget not that Edgar is never mistaken. THEN the freedom from material things, a freer life mentally, musically, a development along mental planes which has been very much hampered in the last year - two years. Then the one will balance the other, and the deeper meditation and longer periods of quiet may be had when instruction can then be given.

Q-6. Is it well for her to go in the trance condition at present? A-6. It does not harm once or twice a week. If the truth were known, we often gather closely around with one accord and with one thought. Then does she hear and speak the words and messages sent by God, the Father in heaven. Seldom is she heeded.

Q-7. How long should the trance condition be allowed now? A-7. Not longer than three-quarters of an hour, EVER. One half is better.

You were given a suggestion last time to so arrange these group meetings that [317]‘s writings, which is the purpose - the main purpose - be done and accomplished and completed before this condition begins.

Q-8. Just how is it best to arrange this? A-8. That would be truly difficult, but not so long a discussion in the beginning, a more immediate beginning of the reading and discussion. [267] should not meditate until [317] has started on the last three or four questions. [2136] could easily tell her when the time arrives. A meditative state is very difficult for us to resist in this subject, as she is so very ethereal in physical, mental and spiritual substance.

R22. 10/11/33 Mrs. [267]‘s message in semi-trance:

“Thou shalt have no other Gods before me. Have I not told you?” And today their name is legion? Daily new ones erected, not of wood or stone. The god of greed, of self, of pleasure, of vanity, of ambition; many more. Read again Deut. 32:21.

There has been for some time, for some days, a desire in [267] to tell you of a constantly recurring vision; symbolical, yes; true, yes; draw each your own conclusions. We will present it as she sees it.

Around each of you stand one or two embodying that characteristic weakest in you.

Beside Mildred stands humanity; that which sees delicacy in a stone or beauty in a serpent, as well as the flowers of the field; and on the right hand of her stands strength, that strength which is willing to partake of humanity.

Hugh Lynn: Strength to go forward. Great strength in beauty, understanding, balance. And on the other hand wisdom. Much else will be said there another time. Much there for the future.

[2136]: On the one hand stands understanding, on the other compassion and selflessness. There must be acquired a balance between intellectual power and the inner self. Not yet is it present.

[317]: On the left hand tolerance, on the right hand steadfastness, strength. They have done much. New ones will soon take their place. It is so with others; indeed with all present.

Gladys: Renunciation - Renunciation - and greater understanding. That figure is very beautiful.

Edgar: One stands for naught but a blessing.

A figure only, a vision that has been the desire on the part of [267] not to repeat. We send it to her for a purpose.

Of late, indeed last night, the spirit present here left the body. We struggle to prevent it. Not long can we speak. Unwise for the present. It has happened before. It should be discouraged in her until there is more vitality, less anxiety.

See, [317], that she is kept very happy the next few days. A warning that must not be ignored; also must everyone else in the household and those near and close.

All is well, nevertheless. Be ye very glad.

Pray everyone, again, for [267]. This spirit is strong, but the flesh much in need of strengthening. She will one day be of great help to this group.

[2136]: Great intellectual power, the mental life ruling - thus for balance, compassion and selflessness and understanding of other’s deficiency in mental strength.

[317]: Steadfastness of purpose and faith on the left hand and tolerance on the right. Shortly these to be superseded by others because no longer needed.

Gladys: Reunciation on the one side, understanding of those lacking her own mental grasp and physical poise. These two very beautiful to look upon.

Edgar: Only one standing with a blessing; the greater struggles in the past.

Gertrude: Patience and fortitude, these to be replaced soon.

R23. 10/18/33 Ms. [267]‘s message in semi-trance, continued - 9:45 to 10:00 P.M.

Yes, it was in Egypt a very close understanding. On very rare occasions it is given for spirit to meet spirit again.

Nothing tonight for the group - out of attunement this day. Another experience last night, however, of interest to [317]. A visit in sleep to thy cousin, the second made in an attempt to bring about a greater understanding. Then did this soul and that meet face to face. Great was the amazement of both.

We believe if [267] will make an effort it can be recalled, an altar made on which forgiveness was laid.

Tell her these our loving hands.

More time must be arranged this coming week for meditation. Then can we give you much that is waiting.

See that [267] turns all the force of her healing power on this finger, [317]. Too long has it gone.

R24. 1/11/34 Mrs. [267]‘s message in semi-trance - 11:00 to 11:15 P.M. PRESENT - Mr. [317] & Mrs. [267], Mr. & Mrs. Cayce, Mr. [2136], Gladys & Mildred Davis; Mr. & Mrs. E. W. Zentgraf.

[267]: Thou art all chosen ones. “Be still, then, and know that I am God,” thus saith the Lord. “Long ages ago did you first begin to close the door of your heart upon me, but ever did I dwell within. Now has the time come for all my children to open that door that may be prepared the way for He that cometh,” thus saith the Lord.

God dwelleth within each child. There can be no evil there until the consciousness has been separated from Him. Evil is of the senses of the outer realms of consciousness. Not until man goes back within that center of his being where God dwells, where the spirit of Christ reigns, however dark may be the outer planes of consciousness, will true brotherhood begin. Not until you can see God within the heart of each man regardless of outer development can attainment be acquired. Only then can there be a crucifixion of self. But the crucifixion of self brings the resurrection. Then one does not live for self. Then one is in the world but not of it. Then does one live for others, for their fellow man. Then is desire for self attainment gone, because self has gone. Self having gone, then does God reign in wisdom, in power, in divine beauty. Why seek for the personal self if God is perfect, omnipotent, if He alone is beauty, if He alone is love, if you do not drop the garments of desire, of personal satisfaction? Whyfore the seeking for attainment if God dwelling within is not constantly sought? If he is there, as well as without, is that not enough? It is! Therefore, self is gone. If in the heart of man you see God alone. Then the powers of your own indwelling Christ-Consciousness contacting that within another so awakens, so quickens the other that he himself starts on the way. Because the rose in the tiny back yard of the city dweller becomes begrimed with smoke, is the miracle of its bloom any the less - is the life there any the less beautiful? Cannot you see the mystery of that stream from the roots upward to the stem in the heart of that rose just the same? So it is with man. All you need to do is to see it there. Then you can know that you belong to the great army of His workers, for then, do you quicken all you contact

• when the Christ rules your thoughts, your actions, your words. Nor must you strive for this. Merely go back home to the center within yourself where God is. Rest there in the knowledge of His presence, He will do the rest.

No questions tonight. Allow two minutes before touching this child. God will be with you and keep you. He does, for did He not promise that “Where two or three are gathered together, I will be in the midst of them”?

[267]: Let the instrument remain attuned. This doubt arises from an inferiority complex built up during many years, also a fear of degrading or being unworthy of the use of a divine gift. You may ask a few questions, but it is difficult.

Q-1. What is the physical condition of the body during trance? A-1. It is nearly normal. The lymphatic glands are very abnormal, and have been for a period of six years.

Q-2. Does the instrument help? [Dr. Paul E. Cold’s etheronic instrument.] A-2. It helps, but a general upbuilding must continue.

Q-3. What is the state of [267]‘s conscious mind during trance? A-3. it has in the past had several conditions, mostly that of sleep - ye might call it, again semi-sleep.

Q-4. What is the condition now? Q-4. Sleep.

Q-5. What is the state of the subconscious mind? A-5. Active.

Q-6. In what way? A-6. Active within outward.

Q-7. What is the state and condition of the superconscious or soul mind of the entity now? A-7. Out beyond.

Q-8. Out beyond what? A-8. This plane of consciousness.

Q-9. In what plane is it now? A-9. Seventh.

Q-10. Does it move there of its own volition. A-10. It does.

Q-11. In the etheric body? A-11. In the etheric body, but not always so.

Q-12. What are the other conditions? A-12. We meant within the physical.

Q-13. Just how is the control being exercised now constituted? A-13. It’s from without, also from within, for the three are in accord. There is that around her, the formation of thought from three. This will not always be so.

Q-14. Do any of the three entities possess or occupy the physical consciousness of the body now. A-14. No.

Q-15. They do? A-15. No. All one. The healer.

Q-16. Is it always the same? A-16. It varies. Always one of the three when there is the state of possession.

Q-17. Would it be advisable for [267] to develop in such a way that her own soul consciousness could give this information upon returning, rather than having an entity speak through her? A-17. It is advisable, and will be.

Q-18. Can you guide us in this development for assisting her? A-18. A greater understanding of all from without. Much must yet be learned. A fear within herself of not understanding, giving out, growing, progressing, makes this impossible. Edgar has given there are the three, four and seven states of expression.

Q-19. Do the entities that speak through her come from one of these realms of consciousness? A-19. They do. The Seventh. All three from the seventh. All three.

Q-20. Just how can the fear in [267] be eliminated? A-20. She must be more alone before it can. She knows within herself, and knows her limitations because of this lack of stillness.

Q-21. What does this fear arise from? A-21. Long years of thwarted self-expression in her creative abilities.

Q-22. More silent meditation by herself would help this? A-22. By herself a few moments, ten or fifteen minutes two or three times a day - but many demands - but righteous demands.

Q-23. Should this be done regularly? A-23. Not necessarily. It is easy.

Q-24. Are there any books she should read that would help her? A-24. More reading would be of benefit, possibly, but much has been read. A quiet re-reading for a time, and meditation. Also an ease in giving out that within herself which is divine.

Q-25. Is there anything you would advise specifically for her reading or study? A-25. Not at present. There is some confusion from the new knowledge gained, which must be absorbed.

Q-26. Was the discussion I had with [267] tonight in line with her development? A-26. Very much.

Q-27. Did it help her? A-27. Very much. Again and again.

Q-28. Have you any other suggestion for eliminating the wrong physical conditions in [267]? A-28. Rest and greater relaxation throughout the day. A more easy taking of responsibilities. More time for the giving out of that to those needing, which is an answer to each soul.

Q-29. Do you find that [267] in her present condition could do healing work; that is, meditate for other individuals? Would not that giving out for others help her? A-29. Not as in this case. It is an inflowing, an out-flowing, an upward flowing, and again an inflowing. You know the possibilities within yourselves of divine love.
