This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of May, 1933, in accordance with request made by the Glad Helpers.

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:30 P. M.

1. GC: You will have before you the Glad Helpers, members of which are present in this room. You will give at this time advice and counsel regarding their work and answer the questions which will be asked concerning any phase of it.

2. EC: We have the group and the individuals that are gathered here, designating themselves as the Glad Helpers.

3. In the manifestations that are the experiences of those that labor, or who give themselves in service through the activities of such a group, this then would come as the massage at this particular time:

Find in self that desire, that love for service that He gave in the ministrations and manifestations of His power in the earth, concerning those things and conditions that prevented individuals from being whole indeed. And as He sought to comfort them in their various phases of experience, in their varied forms of development, so would ye do well to manifest without thought of self, rather that His name may be glorified in the earth; remembering ever that He gave, is “Blessed he whose errors are covered by kindness done to a faltering brother,” and “Inasmuch as ye do it unto one of these, my little ones, ye do it unto me.”

5. Be ye then faithful, every one, keeping that counsel, keeping that period of prayer, meeting them that seek in thought and with them present before Him to whom all power is given, that ye may all indeed be whole every whit.

7. (Q) Please give five affirmations for patients to be used by them for meditations. (A) CREATE IN ME, O FATHER, THAT PEACE, THAT HARMONY, THAT LOVE, THAT WILL BRING THE COMPREHENSION OF THY LOVE, THY MERCY, THY GRACE, IN ME, IN MY BEING, JUST NOW.

The second, AS I SEEK, WILT THOU HARKEN, O FATHER OF MERCY, AND IN THE PROMISES THAT WERE GIVEN BY AND THROUGH THE CHRIST IN THE EARTH, MAKE ME WHOLE EVERY WHIT - NOW.

The third, AS I COME TO THEE, O FATHER, SEEKING TO KNOW THY LOVE, THY GRACE, THY POWER, MAY I SEE THIS LOVE, THIS POWER, THIS MERCY THOU HAST PROMISED THROUGH THY SON, IN ME - JUST NOW.

The fourth, OUR FATHER, IN THY MERCY HELP ME TO SO LIVE, TO SO KEEP MY INNER SELF IN ACCORD WITH THY LAW, THY LOVE, AS TO MERIT THESE BEING MANIFESTED IN MY LIFE, MY BODY - JUST NOW.

The fifth, OUR FATHER, OUR GOD, IN THY MANIFESTATIONS OF LOVE, REMEMBER ME - JUST NOW.

8. (Q) As I call the name of each individual on our prayer list, you will please give an individual message. First, [294]: (A) Keep thy face to the light, my son, that those who behold thy going in, thine coming out, may be strengthened by the brightness even of thy countenance; may it show, through the thoughts that are kept there, that thy presence is seeking His presence day by day.

Keep the body, keep the mind, in accord with those promises, that in and through thee, in thy love manifested in the earth, may come those glories, that those peoples may talk, may speak, may hear, as face to face with him that may bring peace, harmony, glory, and be the forerunner of His return.

9. (Q) [539] and family: (A) Be patient, be kind. Be gentle in thy ministerings day by day; for though there may come those periods when the burden seems heavy, and the light fades in the life, yet he that is faithful unto the end shall wear the crown.

Keep the fires of love burning in thy hearts day by day, for the love of God is manifested in the earth through those that are just kind one to another.

10. (Q) James [[295]‘s brother]: (A) Listen more often to the voice within, Kick not against those things that seem to hinder, for whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth and purgeth every one.

Be thou, then, faithful in the little things of life and He will crown thine efforts with contentment, with joy, with life, with love.

11. (Q) [585]: (A) Keep thy paths straight. Be not unmindful that the many seek with thee that thou shouldst have an understanding heart, that the glory of the Father may be manifest in thee.

Be ye patient, be ye gentle, be ye kind. Speak gently one to another. Know thy redeemer liveth, and calls that “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” They are not grievous nor hard to bear when thou understandest that the love of God is sufficient to those that wholly trust in Him.

12. (Q) [2155]: (A) This would be well to give as the meditation, as there is the administering of the magnetic influences that we have given should be administered to the body:

LET THY INNER SELF BECOME MORE AND MORE AWARE OF THE PEACE, THE HARMONY, THE COORDINATION, THE COOPERATION OF GOD’S LOVE, GOD’S PEACE, GOD’S HARMONY, IN THY PHYSICAL AND THY MENTAL BEING - NOW!

13. (Q) SARAH [[993]‘s sister]: (A) Let the peace that comes from knowing, by meditating on His love, be thy portion - just now.

14. (Q) [146]: (A) This should be given with those periods of meditation and the magnetic powers that go from body to body, as the superconscious and subconscious forces possess or direct the material or physical forces through the activity of the spiritual reactions in body: [See 146-8.]

THE PEACE AND THE HARMONY THAT COMES FROM THE FATHER OF LIGHT, AND LOVE, THAT IS OURS THROUGH THE PROMISES OF THE CHRIST IN MAN, IS POSSESSING THY BEING - NOW - AND MAKING THEE WHOLE, AS HE WOULD HAVE THEE - NOW!

IN HIS NAME, IN HIS POWER, BE THOU WHOLE!

15. (Q) ROSEHILL SCHOOL: (A) Let the peace that comes from the knowledge and the power of the Father, through the Son, manifested in the spirit of mercy, justice and love, be shed abroad on all that aid in making the experience of all more worth while in the undertaking here - just now.

16. (Q) MRS. A. M. POPE: (A) Keep the mind and body singing the glories of the Father, through the Son in the earth, just now. [See 146-8.]

Keep the ways open for His voice, His presence, to be manifested more in the love that ye show through the ministerings day by day to the needs of His children that have erred and - through thee - may see the light now.

17. (Q) [300]: (A) It would be well that this be given with those periods of suggestion, in administering the power or emanations from body to body in periods of meditation or prayer: LET THE POWERS THAT MAY MANIFEST FROM THE HOLDING OF THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE CHRIST LOVE IN THE EARTH NOW, QUICKEN THE SPIRIT WITHIN THEE AND MAKE THEE WHOLE - NOW.

18. (Q) [326]: (A) In Thy mercy, in Thy power, make manifest Thy blessings on me now. As Thy glory, as Thy peace comes to me, may I be conscious of its action upon and within me - now.

19. (Q) [409]: (A) Let the glory of the love, that has been and is being manifested in thee now, become the guiding influence in thy conversation, in thoughts, in deeds, day by day, that ye may grow in the grace of Him that has brought to thee - NOW - that understanding in His name!

20. (Q) [422]: (A) Let the spirit of the Christ be near thee now. Let His HAND guide thee day by day. Feel HIS presence about thee at all times. Be not afraid in His love, that thy body, thy mind, may be a channel of blessings to someone - now!

21. (Q) ASS’N. FOR RESEARCH AND ENLIGHTENMENT: (A) May we, as members of an organization that has its ideals in being of a service to its fellow man - through the grace of God that is given to all that would seek through such a way to be a channel of blessing, cast not this opportunity aside as it comes day by day; but may I, as one of His children, so live that OTHERS may glorify Him - now! THE PURPOSE AND WORK OF THE GLAD HELPERS By Gladys Davis, Second Annual Congress, June 18, 1933.

The Glad Helpers is a prayer group within the Norfolk Study Group No. 1, that is open to those who seek through it. I think the purpose is very well signified by the name - Glad Helpers. We ARE glad helpers. It is our purpose to help individuals, physically and mentally, by attempting through meditation to awaken the divine within each. We have been told through a reading by Mr. Cayce that the spiritual is the life, the mental is the builder, and the physical is the result. Therefore, no healing of any nature, mental or physical, can take place without an awakening of the inner or spiritual self.

We have three periods of meditation each day, and we ask all to join us who have the desire to aid in bringing peace, harmony, light and immortality to others, through the raising of the Christ Consciousness within and projecting it to others. We believe that Jesus, the Christ, has shown the perfect Way, He has laid the foundation, He has reached perfection; but we must raise ourselves and overcome the carnal forces even as He, in order to reach the perfection towards which we should all be striving. We believe He taught that every inharmony, every suffering, is a result of disobedience to divine laws; not a punishment direct from God, but a natural result of our own acts. Earthly parents might try very hard to impress upon their child that it must not do a certain thing or it will suffer thereby. But if the child goes ahead anyway, then it must suffer the consequences. The parents can help, but the child must learn the lesson. Jesus, The Christ, through having overcome, has made the way easy. He has blazed the trail. We only have to tune in to His Consciousness to be free from all earthly woes. No matter how straight and narrow the path, we can hew to it with His help.

So, it is our purpose to try, through meditation - and also through our thoughts, words and acts day by day - to break down those barriers which have been builded between the material and spiritual, and project into those vacant places the love, peace and understanding that may cause perfect harmony.

The higher we are able to raise the Christ Consciousness within us, the more we are able to project it outward and direct it to certain individuals who are seeking. If those individuals are in attune at the time, they catch it immediately. If not, there may be a delay in their receiving it, but the good is not lost. It goes out into the ether, and adds to the constructive influences that are building towards perfect harmony and peace.

The following illustration may explain just what takes place in healing. As a reading has said, [See 281-8, Par. 31-A, 32-A] it is not the ONLY way that individuals find attunement, but it IS a good illustration:

The bodies whom we hold in meditation are as musical instruments, some very finely attuned and others almost entirely lacking in harmony. The desire on the part of the one seeking aid creates the attunement of the instrument so that the player (the Entity) may begin. The letters in each individual’s name may represent the notes of music that must be learned by the player. We (the Glad Helpers) represent the teachers of music. When the teachers and the players are able to cooperate in bringing the greatest harmony from the notes given them, then the Master Musician of the music of the spheres, (the Christ) becomes the orchestra leader, and perfect harmony reigns throughout. R2. 3/21/78 GD’s background on the A.R.E. Prayer Group reading 281-17, Par. 21-A:

On May 24, 1933 the A.R.E. Prayer Group obtained its 17th reading on the prayer group for healing work. The names of individual prayees (those being prayed for by the group) were submitted for personal messages, in 281-17, Par. 8-A through 20-A. (281-17, Par. 7-A gave the five affirmations requested for use by PRAYERS and PRAYEES for the next five months.)
