This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of April, 1933, in accordance with request made by her grandmother, Mrs. [255], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces; that are latent and will be manifested in the personality of the present entity, who should be called [314] Ann.

2. In entering, we shall see that this name has been and is indicated in the entity’s development - and the entity’s appearance in the earth’s plane in the present; for MANY shall be those influenced by the activities of the entity’s sojourn through this experience.

3. Coming under those influences at the period of both those astrological influences that are having to do with the extremities of the body, there will be seen that many variations exist as compared with the planetary sojourn. And, if there will be drawn the closer activities through the astrological influences, it will be seen that these would vary a great deal through interpretations of this varying experience for the entity.

4. One, then, that will be found to be innately tended (and developing) toward headstrongness; great mental abilities, and will be able - and will have those tendencies when speaking - to argue anything down in another individual; a tendency for the obtaining and retaining of all that comes in the experience of the entity.

5. Not that selfishness will prevail, but this must of necessity be one of those things that the training and environ must be warned concerning; that this does not become a fault for this entity, [314] Ann.

6. As to the influences, then, from astrological influences and impulses:

7. One of high mental abilities, with Mercury and Venus as the ruling influences in the entity’s experience.

8. One, it may be found, that may be reasoned with; but will always have an answer for every activity that the entity engages in, and hence will often persuade self against the judgement of others.

9. Yet the influencing of the entity should be through love, through that of loving reasoning for Right’s sake; and through holding out the betterment that may be the result.

10. Not as bribe (for this may be easily trained also into the entity’s personality), but rather as right for Right’s sake; that love, virtue, mercy, patience, hope - these bring their own reward, that is EVIDENCED and IMMINENT in the experience of all who adhere to those influences as principles and not as bribes.

11. From Venus also will be seen abilities not only in the field of music but in the field of imaginative influences as well, and visions may often be to the entity - in its early experiences in this sojourn - as realities to the developing mental influences of the entity. These should not be made sport of, nor contended against; rather used or heard in prayer, in the power of DIRECTING the developing mind into those channels that will make for rather the basis of the hopes, the fears, the beliefs and the activities of the body in such directions.

12. The stringed instruments will be of particular interest, especially the violin and the Psalter.

13. In this development, the movements of the feet will be particularly noticeable when there is music played, as an innate expression of the entity - as developments come. And by the time five to six months of even this experience here have passed, this will be noticeable when stringed instruments are sounded in the hearing.

14. Hence there should be those precautions also in the direction of the musical training; not curbing, but that the dancing or the movements must be in accord with those things and conditions that are as principles and influences in the developing of the mind, the body, and the full forces of the entity.

15. The next influence, that we find in Jupiter, makes for the adaptability at times of the entity in its developing periods - and in years to come - to any environ or to any surroundings in which the entity may find self.

16. The greater precautions for the health, the welfare of the entity, and warnings, will come during - or should be given for - these periods in October and November of the first four years of sojourn in this experience. And especially for those things that interfere with the activity of the sensory system, in the throat and ears. In those periods, then, there should be precautions as to dis-ease that would disturb these portions of the system particularly.

17. And there should be precautions also in the fifth and seventh years, in December and January, as to fire. For, in those periods will the entity be passing through the fiery sign for the entity.

18. Hence the colors that will influence the developing years for the entity will be blue and yellow, or shades and tones of these particular colors; with the opal and pearl being those minerals that will attract and influence the entity. For, there will be particularly those periods for the entity when stones or jewelry will be of particular interest to the entity; in those periods when fifteen to eighteen months have passed will this be seen in the activities of the entity, [314].

19. As to the next influence, or those periods when there comes those changes in the physical and developing periods, or in the fourteenth to the fifteenth year - or from the twelve and a half years to the fifteenth year, will be those periods when there may be seen the greater influence upon the entity from ASTROLOGICAL viewpoint - in Uranus. Hence the period of the greater ANXIETY by or from those upon whom the TRAINING of this entity depends.

20. For, both these tendencies in the musical and - in those periods - the activities in mystical influences as well will be upon the entity; and much EXTREMENESS in many directions may be shown by the entity.

21. Much depends upon the developing or formative years, to be sure, as to how well the entity may be controlled - or DIRECTED, rather than controlled - through this period.

22. But, psychic influences or occult forces will then play an important role in the experience of the entity.

23. As to the appearances of the entity, that will INFLUENCE especially through these formative years:

24. In the one before this we find that the entity was in that period when there were those peoples being gathered in that land about what is now known as - or called - Plymouth.

25. The entity then was in body beautiful, in mind above the ordinary, and gave self in the services of those peoples; especially in leading the singing and the music in the spiritual service in that day, in the name then of Ann Lilith Bewton.

26. In this experience the entity gained throughout, though suffering oft in body for the tenets held; and will make in the present experience for those periods when, with a scolding or rebuke, the body will turn within itself but not forget its aim or purpose - and, unless watched, will “do it anyway”!

27. After the fifteenth to sixteenth year in the present experience, from the sojourn in Plymouth, there will be those tendencies towards the abilities to direct and lead; for the entity will ever be rather inclined to LEAD than BE led - either by her own sex or others! for she’ll make many men step around!

28. In the one before this we find that the entity was in that period when there were those persecutions in that land known as the Roman, when those peoples were being persecuted for their beliefs in the spiritual lessons that were being given during those periods.

29. The entity then was among those of the household, or of the courtiers or cour des aides, of the rulers in that land; yet never wholly losing sight of the innate purposes in the experience of those that suffered physically through the activities of the rulers.

30. Then, though often rebuked by associates during that period, the entity led rather the life of one that courted favor and that asked for many of those experiences to be changed or altered; yet throughout the experience kept self ABOVE those even of its surroundings, and NEVER submitted of self to those indulgences as did many of the associates through the period.

31. Gaining then, and losing only when the associations in the marriage were FORCED upon the entity - and the entity lost faith in those that brought about these conditions. And the entity, REBELLING in same, brought destructive forces to her OWN being, through the manner of LEAVING the earth in that experience.

32. In the present, then, there may be seen in the developing years those periods of sullenness; yet of cheerfulness to carry one’s own point.

33. In the latter portion of the present experience, these influences will make for cheerfulness; as well as the abilities to succor, aid, comfort and bring cheer to the experience of many.

34. A study of such things - this aside, [a side remark by EC] to be sure - will give many an individual an insight as to what is meant by re-incarnated influences of karmic influences builded; for karmic influences are more of the spiritual than of an earth’s experience, for what we create in the earth we meet in the earth - and what we create in the realm through spiritual forces we meet there! And getting outside of the realm of the material does not mean necessarily angelic, or angelic influence!

35. In the one before this we find that the entity was in that land now known as - or called - the Persian, during those periods when there was the building on the plains of those places for the care and the protection of those peoples who came for counsel in the mental, counsel in the material conditions or sufferings of the body.

36. The entity then was among those who came from the Indian land, in the name then Lillila.

37. In this experience the entity gained, after the sojourn to this particular portion of the land, for the entity then came suffering in body. Being healed in body, the mental took on those efforts of giving to those that came; and of spreading to her own land and to those of many places those experiences, helps and aids that come through belief in the spiritualizing of the material activities of self in every walk of life.

38. From this experience there will be seen that sports of all kinds will be of particular interest to the entity, especially during those developing years from nine to seventeen.

39. Swimming (though beware of water during certain periods, especially in August of each year), the use of body in running and jumping, tennis, and all outdoor sports will be of particular interest to the entity - and a necessary part of the entity’s developing through those formative years, especially.

40. In the one before this we find that the entity was in that land now know as the Egyptian, during those periods when there were those developments of those experiences that were brought into the minds and experience of individuals through those teachings of the period.

41. The entity then was among those that supplied music in the Temple Beautiful, as well as in the dance - or in the activities of the body to bring to the consciousness of individuals the change being wrought in the mental being, as physical change was wrought in the body, during temple service.

42. The name then was Apt-Sio.

43. In this experience the entity gained throughout, AFTER coming in contact - in the Nubian land - with those that had been banished there. In the return the entity then became, through the activities of those in the active forces or sources in the temple worship, one that lent much.

44. Hence the musical ability, the dancing ability, comes from this experience; yet TIME - or the activity of the feet in keeping time, or beating time, will be seen, particularly with that of the right foot.

45. In the one before this we find that the entity was in that period known as the Atlantean, among the sojourners from Atlantis who came to what is now known as Yucatan - and was in the temple worship there.

46. The entity, in the name Lilithe, brought to those peoples the ESTABLISHING of the relationships - in the solemnization of relations between individuals as they took up their service, or their labors one with another. Or, as may be termed, the CONSECRATING of the lives of individuals as to their relation one with another in sex; or as in relation to the general service of the individuals or groups to which individuals allied themselves.

47. Hence, as may be seen, when turned to COMMERCIAL experience in the present, the activities would be in CHOOSING (in the latter portion of the present experience) vocations; or in enabling others to choose their own activity, or their own mode of activity, through a sojourn in the experience. Or, vocational training - if you choose to give it a name.

48. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then, and that to which it may attain - and how:

49. As we have given, there may be those things that may be developed in the experience of the entity that may bring much joy, much of pleasure in the associations wherever the entity may choose as its place or period of activity; through those activities (as seen in earth’s experience) that will be related to the moral and spiritual life or experience of individuals.

50. Ready for questions.

51. (Q) What is aura, or how soon will it develop? (A) The aura, to be sure, develops with the MENTAL influences of the body. It may be seen, even in the present, to be blue - or the higher shades of blue, to almost white. Then will come the periods of the more golden glow. Then, as we find, as will be the training, towards purple or green.

52. (Q) Give time of soul birth. (A) Almost IMMEDIATELY with the intake of the breath from the surrounding influence, [314] Ann.

53. (Q) Should Ann be spelled A-n-n-e or A-n-n? (A) A-n-n.

54. We are through for the present.

R1. 4/19/33 Mrs. [255] had written of the hectic drive to the hospital:

“[301] was in heavy labor. I prayed out loud for help, we asked advice and 4 mi. from where we were this hospital stood. (Jim [the chauffeur] had said, ‘We cannot make Philadelphia.’) We arrived at hospital at 1:10, baby was born 1:15. At 1:20 the doctor came just in time to look at afterbirth and put stitches into perineum. At 1:30 he passed through the hall and patted me on the shoulder, and at 1:35 [301] was in her room. She is perfectly well and happy, but I am still a little out of breath. God was with us all the way, even in the red lights, to force us to stop at the forkroads to Trenton. For there is no hospital between here and 30 miles distant Camden, and none behind us. Baby is perfect and [299]‘s duplicate. I wonder whether the rdg. is going to remark the child’s positive energy. Even her cry was so fresh for a baby just born.” [See Par. R19 below.]

R2. 4/22/33 Mother [301]‘s ltr.: “The rdg. arrived this a.m. and I have been reading it over and over. It seems that each rdg. is more interesting than the last one. I know the family will be very excited tomorrow when they can read and discuss it. I want to thank you for the telegram, and was I surprised at the name! I immediately sent out the cards… I felt sure the soul birth was same time as physical, as it seemed the soul could hardly wait for physical body to be born, everything was in such a rush.” [See more of her ltr. under 301-8, Par. R3. 4/28/33 Grandmother [255]‘s ltr.: “That we all were very much impressed by [314]‘s rdg. is hardly enough to say about it. A most wonderful guidance for the parents. She proved it, in her ‘headstrong’ entrance into this world. She could well have waited a few more hours.”

R4. 10/21/33 Father [282]‘s ltr.: “[314] is already showing signs of her talent for talking. She makes many more sounds than [299] did at her age, and seems to delight in making all kinds of peculiar noises.”

R5. 4/14/33 Mother obtained Ck. Physical 314-2 for her in re baby care, teething, cough.

R7. 10/4/47 Letter from [314]‘s grandmother [255]: ”…[314] is progressing from her attack of polio last April, [at 14 yrs. of age] but it is very slow…”

R8. 12/22/47 Letter from [314]‘s grandmother [255]: ”…She has not recovered from the polio yet. Hopes to get to Georgia, to Roosevelt’s place in a short time…”

R9. 7/24/51 Letter from [314]‘s aunt [276]: ”…Perhaps it would interest you to know that [314] is intending to teach disabled people handicrafts after she leaves school where she is majoring in art. She was afflicted with polio, you know, and is still in a wheel chair. If I remember rightly it said in her reading that she might go in for vocational guidance and I think her work will be very similar to that idea…”

R10. 12/28/51 Letter from [314]‘s grandmother [255]: ”…[314] carries herself with great courage and is studying hard in junior college…”

R11. 7/31/52 Letter from [314]‘s grandmother [255]: ”…[314] graduated from junior college and is full of courage. She was on the honor roll even, and expects to go on to regular college, if they can make arrangements…”

R17. 7/23/60 Father [282]‘s reply to GD’s form letter in re early America incarnations [See form ltr. under 2791-1, Par. R3]:

“Rec’d the ltr. about Ann Lilith Bewton. About 25 yrs. ago, I believe, I visited the genealogy room in the main N.Y. Public Library; don’t remember finding anything that would be helpful. Have never been to Massachusetts, so have had no opportunity to investigate there. Would be glad to hear if anyone in that section finds out anything about Ann Lilith Bewton. As you know, this Life Rdg. was given soon after birth, 27 yrs. ago. [314] now lives in …, Colorado. Unless she comes to Fla., I don’t expect to see her for some time.

“Also regret that she has no understanding or faith in psychic communication, or even in intuition. Her specialty is the intellectual training offered in the present day university. She is a licensed school teacher with specialty in speech correction, and training the handicapped. She is fully occupied with keeping house for her husband and two daughters, not an easy task when one is unable to use one’s legs, as she is.

“She is very practical, and sharply analytical. She would not be sympathetic, so will not send her your letter. Until a person is able to remember his own previous incarnations, a natural reaction is to be a bit skeptical.”

R18. 5/8/71 Aunt [457] reported that [314] had given birth to three daughters all taken by caesarean. Her husband got sent to Germany for three years.
