Background) This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of November, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [369].

Born September 2, 1905, in Norfolk, Va. [3:58 A.M. as per rdg. 369-12, Par. 19-A.] Time of Reading 3:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces, giving the conditions as are as personalities, latent and exhibited, in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain and how.

2. EC: We have the entity here, and those relations with the universe and universal forces as are latent and exhibited in the present experience in the earth’s plane.

3. In entering we find the entity comes under the influence of Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. Hence we find, irrespective of will’s influence, many contrarywise, or many conditions that are at-variance in the experiences of the entity. Much to be applied in will’s force through the development - for, as seen, unto Saturn once has the entity’s influence gone; yet these conditions are experiences in the inmost self and must be met through the application of will in the earth’s plane; for through the application of will’s force does an entity develop or retard.

4. In the experience with will’s force we find in this experience these conditions as respecting the astrological and astronomical aspects of the entity’s experience:

5. One of those who, through mental forces, reaches the conclusions for self in most conditions in the life. Sensitive, however, to a fault, and often jumps at conclusions before reasoning force has had the opportunity to show the mental forces that position necessary to occupy.

6. One that may be loved into seeing many ways of actions, yet seldom does this change the entity’s opinion, until reasoning has brought the proper attitude to the entity’s experience.

7. One that has ever the high ennobling forces in the life, and reasons towards same without respect to person or to position, yet - as will be seen - the entity’s experiences have carried the entity through many various phases of fame and power, when viewed from the purely material viewpoint; yet such positions often brought those unsatisfactory results in such a way and manner that the reasoning force through the sojourn in Mercurian forces has made that advance in the development of the entity in the manner that ALL must at least be reasonable to the entity for it to attain a tenet through any condition presented. Well that this be used, but REMEMBER - same can be taken for self’s own detriment; for without faith none may gain the highest development in the material or the spiritual plane; for when one may not have faith in that not seen, how may one expect that reflected from self to inspire others to faith in that the body-mind, the mental-mind, or the self represents?

8. One, then, that is in that turn of the development where this experience may bring that which will bring far advance, or may bring self to that of the “don’t care” attitude of an earthly experience. Beware of that attitude in ANY condition in life, or in mental or spiritual aspect towards self, others, or relations with the universe - for each and every entity has its place, its niche, its pulse to fill, and none other may fill that as self is capable of doing. Rest the faith, then, in that power that gave the entity the being to make self One with that Creative Energy from which the entity as the whole came.

9. One that loves the beautiful in nature, in art, and in the life of others that the entity may contact.

10. One that ABHORS insincerity in any form.

11. One that is in that position of the elements in the astral forces where much may be gained in the MATERIAL way and manner, or the experience may be spent in GAINING the elements of reason without secular gain or position; yet the entity capable of rising to superb heights. In application of that once attained in the life, becomes the center of its (the life’s) endeavor.

12. One in the life that should not enter the wedded life until after the thirtieth (30th) year, and not then until sure in self; for in the physical being there are those elements of uncertainty that would rob self of best developments were such unions made. [See 369-14 Ck. Physical on 6/16/36 clarifying this.]

13. One that may gain much through association with occult force or powers, for REASON - with the elements of high ideals and love and discretion, bring much development to such experiences.

14. In the urges as are seen from the experiences in the earth’s plane, we will find many of those conditions that often bother the entity in the PRESENT experience. Hence those injunctions that may be given here, and through the experience and urge that to develop the entity must hold ever first and foremost that of Oneness with the Creative Energy in life, in death, in the inter-between - for it is not all of life to live, nor all of death to die [Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations, James Montgomery’s [1771-1854] THE ISSUES OF LIFE AND DEATH, Stanza 2: ‘Tis not the whole of life to live, Nor all of death to die]; for one is the birth of the other when viewed from the whole or center, and is but the experience of the entity in its transition from and to that universal center from which ALL radiation is given.

15. In the appearances then:

16. In the one before this we find in that period when the western country now known as Chicago was then a fort. [GD’s note: French & Indian Wars? The fort later known as Dearborn?] The entity then among those who sought refuge there from the wars without and within. Not only of the mental and moral conditions, but of the physical forces as applied to those settlers. The entity then the companion of Bainbridge [294] in the escape from that fort, losing the life in the waters of that river known as Ohio. The urge as is seen from same, the loathsomeness to even VIEW those portions of the country, seeking rather the eastern or far western portion of this land; yet that innate feeling that WERE the entity to see, view, experience any living act in this portion there would come something not satisfactory; yet the love of outdoors and of nature is the conflicting urge from this experience. Gaining - losing - gaining - losing - through this experience. Gaining through those things suffered for a principle. Losing through holding of malice and of the determination to get even. Can’t be done! [Rom. 12:19] [10/19/27 See EC’s dream rdg. 294-101 saying he should protect [369] this time, in thought-purpose.]

17. In the experience before this we find in that land when Charles the Second [of England] was the exile in France. The entity then among those who gave aid and succor to that ruler, and the entity then in the name Charmain, gained much favor with that ruler, bringing much good to the life and to the experiences of those whom the entity contacted in the way of succor to the faithful and to the unfaithful mercy, and the entity gained through this experience, though the entity was treated badly, in the manner, by this ruler, yet the even not holding malice or thought of being mistreated brought to the entity not only the help of others but development in that period.

18. In the one before this we find in that Trojan period when there was war made in the land and the city was besieged. The entity then among those who ministered especially to the keepers at the gates. Then in the name Pamn, and the entity gained through this experience, finding much in peoples, positions, conditions, to study and wonder about; yet keeping true to that desire set in self - to remain unspotted from the world though beset on every hand, yet remaining true in every sense to self and to others. Gaining, then, through this experience.

19. In the one before this we find in that period when there were the wars in the land when Xenophon led the peoples into the Arabian land. The entity was among those taken in the charges and working to the defense of land and peoples wrought havoc among the peoples that were invading. Then in the name Isael, and the entity lost through this experience. Though giving self in service of others, yet to the confounding of self’s own principles, and the loss of confidence in men in high places, in low places, in power and in high stations, brought much to the detriment of the entity. The urge again seen in the present through that of wonder often at the acts and causes of actions in others. WELL - from this experience - that the entity abstain in body from that which would bemuddle the brain.

20. In the one before this we find in that land when the nomads entered into the land of Croesus and took those of that land as hostage for the tribes. The entity then the ruler’s daughter, and in that school or that place so raided by the peoples, and the entity then taken as the hostage for Uhjltd, [294] the leader in this raid, and held as same by this leader until taken from him by the next in charge [195] and there remained. In the experience of the entity then in the name Elia, that horror of being forced into any action, whether of mental, physical, political, or any condition of subject to another’s will. The entity lost through this experience, to the detriment of self, to the low dreg that of taking life in the way to satisfy self; not in defense of principle or of self, country or position; yet in the early portion of the life giving much to many in many ways.

21. In the one before this we find in that land when the divisions rose in the land. The entity then the lawful wife of the priest [294] who forsook those that had been set in the right way for those conditions set in the temple. The entity then in the name Asua. In the development the entity lost and gained and lost through this experience. Failing then to gain that lesson that was made by the ruler and the scribe to those that brought these conditions in the experience of the entity, for the entity then lost faith in self and in those who made profession to lead others toward that knowledge of the higher forces in earth through man’s relation to the Creator. In the urge as is seen, LITTLE of religious thought that may not be reasoned from the vision of the entity’s experience. Hence that injunction that faith must be builded in self, would the entity [if the entity would] create or radiate faith for others.

22. In the abilities then, there are seen many conflicting conditions in the entity’s experience; yet, as is seen, when all are weighed - that in the gathering of that in mental or in physical force that brings succor, aid, understandings, or the better relations of self toward good for GOOD’S sake, and that that good may be turned into, that condition of making each entity One with the Creative Energy from which all come and all go, unless through self’s OWN will becomes separated from Him.

23. Keep that faith in self and in Him, for in Him comes strength, through applying that KNOWN to be right. Gain knowledge, then, of Him through those forces that set thee near to him [[294] - EC] through whom the faith was lost in self, bringing to others that faith through those lessons gained and given to those who seek - through counsel - to understand those relations of man to Creator and Creator to man, for all are One in Him, and we of the faith must be in Him. Keep that committed unto thee against that day.

“We left Woodstock Tuesday p.m. and came over here. I hated to leave but it was just too stupid for Aunt […]. There was not a soul at all congenial for her. Wouldn’t take anything for having gone there. Learned so much. Want to go back next summer and take a course in dancing from Kosloff, the Russian ballet teacher, who has a class there in the summer. Did meet so many interesting and well known people… Aunt […] is having a perfect time here playing bridge incessantly, and there are lovely little trails all thru the woods. Next week I’m going to get out and take some long walks.”

R3. 8/29/28 “I’m looking forward to my few days in N.Y.C… One of the first things I’m going to do is to go to Helene Rubenstein’s Beauty Salon and indulge in everything I want, as a birthday present to myself - which includes a shampoo (hot oil), finger wave, facial and manicure. Can’t wait! We’re planning to see 4-5 shows… I feel that this trip has helped me. I feel stronger and more independent; that is, dependent just on my inner self if you know what I mean. And of course you do, as [288] always does. I am more interested in different things than before. Just wish there were more of those kinds of people at home to keep me from getting back into that narrow kind of way of thinking - not acting, thinking - people that know more than I do and are willing to impart their knowledge. As I think over my acquaintances at home I get rather ill at the thought of having just what they can give me. Don’t mean that there aren’t many I’m still fond of as before, like Mrs. S… and they each give me something in their own way, but I’m going to need more than what they can give me. Perhaps new, interesting people will appear on the horizon - here’s hoping. Anyway, you and I must read together - worth while things. We must become familiar with the famous women in history and all those things we say we want to do. I want to read deeply about the different European countries, so that when I go I will be familiar with them and feel as tho I have discovered old friends, as I do now about Louis 16th and Marie A. since Dumas’ novels. There are so many, many interesting things going on in the world that it seems a crime how little interest the average person takes. And we must both continue our music. My fingers are just itching to play. Mr. H… sent me those new pieces and I’ve had no piano at all to play on. I can’t wait for the air to get cool and snappy and for us to get over on the beach and walk briskly, with the fresh air blowing in our faces and through our hair. There’s nothing that makes me feel the same. And remember our walk in the rain? Do so hope we can repeat it, as spontaneously as before. It was glorious…we can have some nice swims, too, this coming month. Am so disappointed about my swimming lessons. I will learn sometime, tho. …I think perhaps that your friendship will be one of the finest in my life; that is, if we don’t let those material things separate us entirely. Maybe, tho, they are tests, that come along to prove the worth of our friendship… Ten long pages - I feel as tho we’ve had a talk, and we will soon… I’ll be home early the 5th. I’m not anxious to come back at all, but I’m supposed to or things wouldn’t have worked out as they are.”

Life 369-4, asking about plans to teach kindergarten; if she should force herself to continue contacts with people with whom she has nothing in common; current love affair, etc. See subsequent correspondence under 369-4 Reports revealing the inner workings of her mind, the verification in toto of the traits mentioned in 369-3.

R5. 2/21/31 See Ck. Life 369-7 in re past associations with the man with whom she has been having an unhappy love affair all these years; advising that the relationship should be a development for each, as she leaned on him as her second husband in Egypt after the change in Egypt when the Priest [294] was banished.

R6. 4/30/32 See Ck. Life 369-9 in which she was told that she mistreated the man [G.] in Egypt as she feels she is being mistreated by him now. [She was advised to go to Columbia Univ. this summer with her friend, Miss [1922], for classes.]

R7. 7/16/32 See 538-31, and 538-32, Par. 12-A on 7/19/32, mentioning that [538] was the abandoned baby daughter of [369] (and [195]) in their Persian incarnation. [She revealed to us that she had always had a great desire to have a baby daughter.]

R8. 8/1/32 “I’m very busy with school work, but I do like studying. It takes me hours now to do my French for the next day, and the speech is coming along o.k. She says I have a lovely voice and I’m the only one she has told that to. If only I could keep on with it this winter, but there is no one in…and I wouldn’t want anyone anyway unless he or she were an authority on the subject, as it can so easily do more harm than good… I feel sure of myself up here. It’s so much fun learning things… I still prefer not getting up in class, but considering how all my life I have been this way, it is really remarkable the results of this meditation [with A.R.E. Prayer Group leaflet]. You see, while I still get a little nervous, it is nothing compared with what it was before. I would have had to drop the class if it hadn’t been for this prayer and your holding it with me at the time.”

R10. 4/8/35 “[1922] and I are planning to go to N.Y. for Easter… While there I want to investigate modelling my hands. So many people have asked me why I don’t try it, and feel that my hands are just the kind they use for nail polish ads, hand lotion, gloves, etc.”

R11. 10/20/35 She wrote that she was anxious to get a kindergarten teaching job away from home, preferably in N.Y. or N.J.: “I must get out now and try to change my life - for instance, marriage or not. I don’t want to spend the next ten yrs. or so here with […] [her 2 elderly aunts]. I want to get away and see what I can bring about.”

Physical 369-14 for amenorrhea, advising why she had been warned not to marry until after 30 yrs. of age, because reproductive organs might have caused stillbirth or malformations, due to insufficient hormones, etc. [20-A]. See Par. 21-A—23-A advising that after her physical condition is corrected it will be well for her, physically and mentally, to have the consummation of marriage and children.

R15. 8/8/37 See friend’s letter under 1922-1, Par. R3: “[369] just wrote me that she is contemplating seriously going to N.Y. for another yr. of kindergarten work. She spoke of meeting people, etc., through you, and I hope you encourage her in making this change, if you feel the idea is wise, and I only hope that through this will come something of real happiness for her.”

R16. 10/7/37 Friend Miss [288]‘s letter to Miss [954]: “[369] has decided not to come to N.Y. this fall; perhaps after Christmas if at all. It seems she discovered that the man [G.] who meant a great deal to her a few years ago was going to be in N.Y. this winter, and she didn’t want to take the chance of being thrown with him again. There’s the old FEAR again. Anyway, that was one of her main excuses. However, I think she is happier right now than she has been in some time; has been interested in DOGS and breeding them - for some time, and at last has a thoroughbred puppy (given to her by gentlemen friend to whom she has been very close) to experiment on; gives her a new interest in life. So I’m hoping she will find herself and her place. After all, we can only do our best to encourage such individuals in ANYTHING just so they keep active at something. She means a great deal to me, but none of us can live another’s life.”

R23. 6/24/41 Vacationing again with Miss [1922] in N.C. and taking some summer courses she wrote that she had seen [G…] again and that she was definitely no longer attracted to him or hurt by him: “Am taking two classes, one called ‘History in the Making’ that is very interesting, and the other is a class in Old Testament Bible History under a Jewish rabbi. The approach is exactly opposite from Mr. Cayce’s Tuesday Night Bible Class. He will not answer questions that pertain to the spiritual interpretation, but only the history of it. He is very keen and wide awake, but I’m not even sure he believes in God from things he said… I’d like to put the whole Cayce group down in class one day and then see what would happen - I’d especially like to know what [288] and [294] would think of him and the class, also [845].”

R25. 12/41 Her father died. She was never very close to him. It was her mother she loved, who died when she was 16 yrs. old. She had lived all these yrs. with her two elderly aunts (her mother’s sisters), and her father had visited them on weekends.

R28. 5/48 GD’s notes to Gina Cerminara: See 538-32, Par. 12-A indicating that [538] was the abandoned baby daughter of [369] (and [195]) in their Persian incarnation. Since [538] knew of her mother [369] only by hearsay, we can conclude that she never actually knew her mother, who must have committed suicide when the daughter [538] was quite young and left her to shift for herself. Hence [538]‘s “emaciated condition” as referred to.

It is interesting that [369] in this life for years worried about her own thinness and worked hard to gain a little weight. She has always wished to be married and particularly to have a baby daughter; so much so that she has frequently thought of adopting a baby girl, and would do so if her home circumstances would permit.

R29. 5/28/48 Comment by Dr. Ellaine Elmore, Psychologist, after talking with Miss [369] yesterday, who came for consultation: “It’s amazing how the reading, 20 yrs. ago, picked out her major problems as she is having them today.”

R30. 8/20/48 GD’s notation in re Miss [369]:

Through consultation with Dr. Henry George III, [Dr. Henry George III, D.O.] recommended by GD & HLC, she went to see Dr. (?) Moore at the Doctors Hospital, 17th & Sunner Ave., Philadelphia, Phone Rit. 6-4370 who (as foremost neurosurgeon psychiatrist in the country) recommended brain operation to “block out” fear cells, to give her a fresh start in life. The operation was performed 8/19/48. Doing nicely - will need to remain in Phila. 2 weeks, and then follow subsequent treatment by psychiatrist in home town.

R32. 10/26/48 GD’s note to Dr. & Mrs. Henry George III:

“The young lady whom you so kindly helped while here on your vacation is now enlisted as a ‘worker’ on the Edgar Cayce Foundation Campaign in the Norfolk area. Such a thing never could have happened prior to your entrance into the picture and subsequent advice which gave her a fresh start. I think of you so often and am eternally grateful - just don’t get around to saying so.”

R33. 11/50 Gina Cerminara’s book, MANY MANSIONS (William Sloane Associates, Inc., N.Y.) had her analysis of [369]‘s case on pages 162-165:

The next case of loneliness presents the same basic pattern, [as Mrs. [1468]] though details differ markedly. It concerns a woman of English descent who teaches kindergarten but who has always longed to be married. She was the only child of middle-aged parents, both of whom died when she was very young. She was reared in a staid and conservative manner by two elderly aunts. As a result she has had great difficulty in adjusting to other people of her own age. Throughout her life she has felt lonely and set apart from others, and she has developed marked introvert tendencies.

There was one love affair in her life, but the attraction was purely a physical one. As the psychological incompatibility became more and more apparent, the incident closed. Since then her life has seemed to her to be frustrated and empty. She enjoys her work and is professionally successful; she is efficient, competent, intelligent. At recurring intervals, however, she is engulfed by a depression which lasts for several weeks and then gradually subsides. During these fits of depression she has contemplated suicide. One would never imagine her to be subject to such a profound dejection, as she is an attractive woman with a positive manner.

According to her reading the outstanding event in her history was suicide in the Persian period, four lifetimes back, when Bedouin tribes made a raid on her country. At the time she she was a daughter of the ruler, and was one of those taken hostage by a Bedouin sheik when the raid was made. Afterward she was transferred to the man next in charge, by whom she had a child. Soon after the birth of this child - a girl - she committed suicide. The daughter was thus left to the tender mercies of the warlike people among whom she lived, and fared very badly until she was picked up in an emaciated condition by a traveling religious teacher and brought back to health.

The reading indicates that the mother committed suicide only because she so fiercely resented being subject to another’s will; and “the entity lost through this experience, to the low dreg of taking its life only to satisfy itself - not in self-defense or in defense of principle or of country.” Further details the reading does not give; but one reads between the lines and senses that she was proud, haughty, arrogant, self-willed, and that she destroyed herself rather than suffer humiliation to her ego.

In view of her present temperament - a marked independence of manner, which seems almost as brusque, and self-sufficient as that of any man - it seems likely that the psychological sin of her Persian life is the very thing that casts up a barrier between herself and men in the present. It is a certain lack of pliancy, a refusal to renounce her self-determination, which perhaps frightens men away from her now.

Curiously enough, she has, in this life, always longed for a child. Had it not been for the difficulties raised by one of the elderly guardian aunts, she long ago would have adopted a baby girl. Another curious carry-over is the fact that she has frequently thought of suicide. Since obtaining her reading, which gave her a reasonable explanation for her situation, she no longer considers suicide as a way out, knowing that what she does not meet now she will have to meet at another time.

In another one of her readings she was told, however, that she could still expect marriage in this incarnation, but later in life; that she should meanwhile try to make herself helpful in every way possible to all those with whom she came in contact. When she asked how soon she might expect this happy consummation, she was told, “When you have proved yourself it will come about.” She was given clearly to understand, in several places, that this is a testing period for her. When she asked, “Why have the last five years of my life been so entirely devoid of all contact with men?” she was told, “It has been a testing period of that which is your basic purpose for this incarnation.”

Here, then, are two cases where suicide involving the abandonment of a child has resulted karmically in loneliness and the lack of a husband.

R34. 4/5/52 “Enclosed check for my membership and the other for Mr. Cayce’s birthday. I hated not being there as usual but [1922] had a slight operation that week-end and I drove her back from the hospital that afternoon.

Thanks so much for putting [Aunt […]‘s] name so promptly on the prayer list and for the material you have sent [glaucoma, hypertension]. I do pray that she won’t have to lose her sight.” [GD’s note: Her other aunt had died in Dec. ‘46 - for years she had worried that she would outlive Aunt […] whom she loved. Her fears were groundless, or else her prayers were ans’d, because she was left with the one she loved to care for in her old age.]

R35. 7/4/56 Miss [1922] having gone home for the summer, Miss [369] phoned Miss [288], as was her custom when all was not well with her. Miss [288], now Mrs. […] had gone on vacation with her husband. Her brother, [391], answered the phone. He and Miss [369] had known each other for years and, both being unhappy, they celebrated the 4th together. Quickly [391] proposed marriage. After a week of celebrating, Miss [369] decided she would NOT marry [391]. In the meantime she had communicated with Miss [1922] who was horrified; she knew [391], that he was much younger and emotionally unstable. She and [369] then planned a vacation together.

R36. 7/22/56 She wrote Miss [288]: “I’ve gotten all mixed up inside with [391]. I feel that due to my environment plus [391]‘s nature, that nothing more could come out of this. All this and much more I have told him. He insists I am wrong. Now you know [391] and you know me, and I’d like your honest opinion about this. For some idiotic reason I worry about him. Underneath all the talk there is much sweetness in [391]. A couple of yrs. ago I was going with someone. I decided I didn’t care enough for the person. So quite easily and simply I broke it off, by always refusing to see him when he called. It wasn’t difficult. But with [391] it is as if I were deliberately cutting off a part of myself something that has not had a chance to complete itself.

You know about [Aunt […] being so ill with cancer] and all it involves. R37. 8/9/56 Miss [369] married [391]. She and her friend Miss [1922] had already become addicted to drink, also frequent use of tranquilizers. When she married [391], an alcoholic, her problems were multiplied. That fall she did not return to her teaching job. Her friend Miss [1922] returned, and there was constant friction due to Miss [1922]‘s resentment of [391]. At the same time Miss [Mrs.] [369], with [391]‘s help, had to do much of the physical care of her invalid aunt

• which depressed her greatly.

R38. 12/17/56 She wrote HLC: “Thank you for trying to help [391] and me solve our problems. Please accept the following as a contribution, which I hope in some small way will help to carry on the work which meant so much to your father.”

R39. 4/23/57 She renewed her membership. [Her aunt died early that year.]

R40. 5/24/57 She phoned Miss [288] that she was thinking seriously of joining [391] in Calif. where he had gone 3 weeks before. She really loved [391] and wanted to be with him, but preferred that he return to her here. She was having much trouble sleeping, and it was hard for her to secure the tranquilizers she had come to depend on. Miss [288] thought she sounded more optimistic than she had sounded for some time [11:30 P.M.]. However, eighteen hours later her body was discovered in her car in the garage, no gas, dead battery, ignition on, closed doors indicating she had got in car, started motor and passed out. Who knows whether it was accidental or planned? Her subconscious took over and acted on past desires.

R41. 5/31/57 Husband 391’s letter:

“I’m still too numbed and shocked and full of hurt to think very straight. Even tho I’ve had some little fear that something of the kind would happen, I didn’t really believe it would. She has told me often the past few months that she would never kill herself, altho before that she often mentioned it, and I would fuss at her for even thinking such a thing. However, it must have been in her mind all along. I don’t think that she had planned anything - it just happened without her control of it. She didn’t fully intend to when she called me, because she had almost made up her mind to come to Los Angeles or meet me in Denver. She said she would come here if necessary, but would rather live somewhere else. Also her last letter was so cheerful and sending a stamped envelope, and one of the last things she said was to “write as often as you can.” I believe that she became a little unbalanced right at the last minute and couldn’t control her body or thoughts for the time being. Anyway, I hope and pray that she is happier now than before, with all of the indecision she had. It leaves me with such a painful blank or void regardless of anything else. The fact that I won’t be able to see or be with her any more hurts so terribly, because I know we were both looking forward to being together again and I know I could have helped her to be happy a little, at least.”

R42. 5/31/57 Miss [1922]‘s letter: “Of course there will never be a time when I don’t miss [369], but I am convinced that God is taking care of her and that it was for the best, at present.”

R43. 6/57 Miss [1639]‘s note: “[369] and [391] took care of me in their home when I came from the hospital, helpless [from a stroke], after her Aunt […] died. I enjoyed being with them and they seemed so happy in their marriage. They nursed me and cared for me like a baby.”
