This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 27th day of April, 1925, in accordance with request made by Mr. Riley Hurst - an Involuntary Reading, that is, without a suggestion to obtain it, immediately following 4905-21 (on oil well in Bosque Co., Tex.).

Washington County, Time of Reading near Boston Mountain, 4:00 P. M. Dayton Time. …, Arkansas.

1. EC: Now, we are locating these conditions as surround the monies and the bullion as was buried by the Indians here in the Southeastern part of Washington County, Arkansas, near Boston Mountain. Inquiry made by Indian and a relative of those that cached same, through Riley Hurst.

2. The camp as made or occupied here, 60 odd - 63, 65, 67 years ago, near Boston line mountain, (the camp) and the maps as were made by Soohoo buried these with - Cordi - one to the East, one to the West, while the Spring is to the West of old camp site. A line running East and West from map to map we find would come through portion of camp, and were a line made from West spot of the map and from the East map we would find same would cross just North of the Spring and on edge of a ravine, which slopes run East and West. This we find on upper slope, South side, yet North slope. Some thirty (30) steps from Spring the cache, which is near now a clump of Hazelnut bushes and a log (Chestnut log) comes across the edge. The cache is in triangle rock, covered by another, and is only twenty-seven (27) inches deep. We will find all nearly the amount when coined of two hundred thousand (200,000) dollars, gold and silver.

R1. 4/28/25 EC’s ltr. to Hurst:

Dear Riley:-

I guess you think I’m a long time letting you hear from me again, but have been quite busy and then a bit unwell myself. Consequently, haven’t had much opportunity to write as I should.

As you will see from the enclosed, in yesterday’s reading I got voluntary information as regarding the location of the treasure you wrote me about sometime ago. I’m certainly in hopes that this will prove sufficient information for you to make the location of this stuff and that you’ll be able to secure same. This, I am sure, will be sufficient for you to start with. This is my understanding of it. A line run directly from one corner of the map located on East side to the map located on the West side would run across a portion of the camp, but a line run from say the North side of map on the East and North side of map on the West would cross somewhere just North of the Spring and near the place as indicated in this. I believe when you get on the ground, and able to go over this and locate the Spring, if you will mark off the number of steps as are indicated toward the North, then drive a stake, let me know about where this is, and if you haven’t already been able to locate it, we’ll give another reading and see if we can make the location from the stake. I only wish that it was possible, as we have gotten this information, that I could be with you and help in this search. However, I know that you will look after my personal interest the same as you would your own, but as you know I’m just so financially embarrassed that it’s impossible for me to think of making a trip at this time. I have been in Washington County but not just that part of it, I don’t think. I don’t know. I went through there from Huntsville, Madison County. Be sure and keep me posted as to when you expect to start on this and as to what you do. I don’t [doubt?] that it would be well to wire much of this information, but I will certainly try to despatch it to you as fast as it’s possible to do if you let me know where to send same when you get on the ground.

R2. 5/7/25 Hurst’s ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce

I received your letter Monday. Would have answered sooner, but it has been raining so much haven’t had a chance to mail a letter.

I believe our financial troubles are over. It is so plain I feel like we have that amount in the bank. I read the letter to dad, he liked to have throwed a fit. He said he could go right to the spot. But dad and the other boy are married, owe a few bills, and dad has a boy in the hospital and they can’t get away just now but have agreed to go the first of July regardless what happens with camp equipment, to stay 30 days if necessary. We are sure to find it in that length of time and we will keep you posted just what we are doing best we can without saying much. And just as soon as we find, we will wire you the place to meet us.

I can’t hardly wait for that time to come. It seems like we are just throwing away time by waiting but the other boys just like a little money having enough to start and so I guess we can wait a few more weeks.

Dear Riley:-

Very glad to have yours of the 7th and to know that you and the others concerned feel so very positive regarding the information as was given in the reading. I’m in hopes that during the time that you’re having to wait on them that the others do not become over enthused and let the information out to someone else that beat you to it. Of course though you have thought about these things and realize the possibilities concerning same. Also know who you are dealing with and how much to tell ‘em and how much not to tell ‘em until you’re ready to make your location. I only wish that it was possible for me to join you when you go to make the search, but it’s unthinkable for me to make such a trip at the present time - FINANCE. Be sure though and let me hear from you from time to time and any developments that may come up, why let me know about.

Well, I’m in hopes that the folks in San Saba are getting along nicely. I think the only thing you have to do is to wait your time and be ready. Let me hear from you whenever you have the opportunity.

R4. 5/22/25 Hurst’s letter to EC:

Box 1014 Wichita Falls, Tx.

Dear Mr. Cayce

Will answer your letter received a few days ago. I have been working pretty hard the last few days but I feel like it will soon be over. I talked for the other boys about sending you money to come down and if you can get off at that time but they think it best to wait until we get there because all these people are outlaws and moonshiners and won’t let a stranger stop in there. I think dad had some trouble with them. He left there about 20 years ago and never been back under his real name. So we will have to spend a few days getting acquainted and let them no (know?) we are not officers and we are just there on a hunting trip and if we don’t find it we will send you money to come and help us.

If we do find it we will get out of there with it and tell you the place to meet us. It is there and I don’t believe we will have any trouble finding it and there is plenty of it.

Everything is just about the same at San Saba. Guess you new (knew?) Grandma Moore had bought the boys’ interest in Rockey and Joel (?).

R5. 5/29/25 EC’s letter to Hurst:

Mr. Riley Hurst, Box 1014, Wichita Falls, Texas

Dear Riley:-

Glad to have yours of the 22nd and to know that you feel so optimistic regarding our enterprise. I wish it was so that I could be out there when you all make the trip, but perhaps it would be better for you to go ahead and locate it and then let me know. You know we would have no way of taking a reading there, unless I would bring someone along with me and that would incur too much expense. Should it be necessary that we take another one, I think when you are on the ground, have looked over, you can drive a stake and then let the location be made from that stake.

No, I had not hear Mother Moore was buying the interest of the boys in Rocky. [See [5628] series.] I certainly am in hopes that very soon we’ll be able to do something with same. They have not completed the operations on which so much depends as yet, though they are certainly getting down in the ground. They are past the five thousand foot mark, but we’re expecting in the next hundred feet now to get the producion. We’ve already passed up places I believe where it could be gotten, but we want an overflow if it’s possible.

Glad to know that you’re keeping real well, and I know you like to keep busy. We’re all fairly well here. Hugh Lynn, the boy, I guess you remember him, graduates from High School the 9th of next month. Nothing especially new. Everything just dragging along about the same. Let me hear from you whenever you have the opportunity.

R6. 6/5/25 Hurst’s letter to EC:

Box 1014 Wichita Falls, Tx.

Dear Mr. Cayce

Will answer your letter received a few days ago. We have asked for our vacation the first of July, and guess we will get it then if something don’t happen. Dad has been telling me the Indians put a bad wish on that money when they buried it and he was afraid the evil spirits would try to keep us away from it. Do you think there is such a thing as that? If any thing like that should happen what would be the thing to do? That kind of work is out of my line and I don’t know how to play with these fellows. After we find it do you think best to go to a bank with it or go on to the border and say we came out of Mexico with it. That would save us from having to give so much of it to the government and might help knock off some of the income tax and we could turn in the bullion at the smelter at El Paso. Same time I think Mr. McConnell [J. T. McConnell] might handle it for us through his bank, and no one would ask where it came from. Don’t know much news so will close.

R7. 6/11/25 EC’s letter to Hurst:

Dear Riley:-

I have yours of the 5th. I note what you have to say regarding the superstition of the Indian. I have heard some people tell of such conditions. I personally do not feel that there is anything in this kind of superstition, though I myself have never had any experience with anything of the kind, but am of the opinion you have need of no fear regarding anything pertaining to that, and would feel like that you would rather have the assistance of such than their hindrance, should there be anything in such, else why would they have given the location of same and desire that it be used for the purposes, for if there be one perhaps there are other phases of this same superstition, and unless they had desired that you seek this out and put it to use, the information as given would not have been gotten, and if you will notice the reading of same, which I’m sure you must have, there is particular mention made that the desires are that this be sought out and put to use. I’m sure the best plan would be to carry this to some bank and deposit same until the division is made. Mr. Mc might be very good, but he is so far away, and should he enter in it would be necessary for another division, and any bank or individual may turn in bullion to the mint and have same coined and it goes rather to Denver than to El Paso, that being the nearest minting place.

So you needn’t have any fears I don’t think on this score, or of it’s being taken care of after you once locate it, and get it into the hands of the people whose business it is to care for such things, but we need not expect to get out of paying the portion to the Government, as will be necessary, but it coming after the division would be a very small matter to each one.

I’m certainly in hopes that you all are able to get started at this very soon, and that we may know what the outcome of it will be. No especial news as yet from our operations. [[5628] series?] They’re still working on same. Hope things are going fine with you and you’ll let me hear from you whenever you have the chance.

Dear Mr. Cayce

We are getting ready to leave. Will get away tomorrow or next day. So we will know pretty soon what is going to happen. We will be wiring you in the next few days to come to us. If I do you will know we have found it, but may have to drive stake and take another reading. If we do I will try to wire you early in the morning so you can wire me the same day. It will be about 15 miles to the nearest telegraph office and I will have to go horseback so I will stay until I get a reply.

We have studied your reading and drew maps from it until we feel we can almost go straight to it.

B1. 3/30/25 Hurst’s ltr. to EC:

Box 1014 Wichita Falls, Tx.

Dear Mr. Cayce

I received your letter [no copy?] yesterday and told dad about it he is sure tickled over it and feels sure we will find it.

The money is buried in Washington Co., Arkansas 14 miles west of Winslow on the old uncle Jimmie Yourk place. The Indians were camped on a high flat mountain.

He found one map about one mile and half east of camp ground and destroyed it. The one he left is about 300 yds. west of camp just under the bluff of the mountain the money is buried east of the map and he thinks it is this map it is buried east off somewhere between it and the camp. The map east of the camp was a buried map and he don’t think it could be this map the Indian had reference to because the Indian said nothing about the map being buried. Said they dug a hole about three ft. deep between two rocks laying in this shape V [Note: shape of letter “V”] put a big flat rock over the top and covered over with dirt left the edges of the two rocks out. Find out if you can if these two rocks is still sticking above the ground and how much and how large are they and how much money is there.

Be sure and give all the marks you can close to it, the direction each mark is from it and how far. And how far from the map and direction. Dad said it would be hard to find because everything looks so much alike. We want to get right hold of this if you say it is still there. I want to go there before we go to Rockey, Ar. (?) So when you come I sure wish you could be with us. If you can’t, we will wire you soon as we can find it and where to meet us.

I have not heard from San Saba in about three weeks. There must be something wrong down there. How long will it be before the change will start if that all happens. It will be worth more to me than all the Indians money. I am out of paper, so will close. Take this up just as soon as you can -

B4. 4/14/25 Hurst’s letter to EC:

Wichita Falls, Tx.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Received your letter other day. I will try to make the map little plainer but old Dad can’t read or write and I just have to draw it the way he tells me he has not been there for several years.

The place is in the Boston Mountains 14 miles west of Winslow in Washington County Ark. and the old uncle Jimmie Yourk place.

Dad destroyed the map east of the camp but the map 300 yds. west of the camp is still there and think the money is between there and the camp. This old Indian’s nephew hunted east of the map that is east of the camp because his uncle told him the money was east of the map but did not say which way the map was from the camp but dad thinks the map west of the camp is the one the Indian had reference to. The map is drawn on a big flat rock.

I sure hope you can get to this at once and locate it so we can find it. I feel sure you can locate this all right but the trouble is if you can describe it so we can locate it when we get there but we will say until we are sure we can’t before we leave it.
