This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of July, 1928, volunteered without request at end of reading 5741-14.

1. EC: Now, as pertaining to those operations in Louisiana, that these individuals have been and are interested in - there has been given the formations, the locations, for the better seeking for production in this field, and where the gas might be encountered. The drilling in other portions of same is only the verification of that given. Follow those instructions, then, would the success be made of this territory.

R1. 7/3/28 A. H. Thomas’ wire: “I personally wired you $20 ten days ago [in [943]‘s name] for reading on Louisiana oil well for us… Kindly wire me immediately, please, your action on this matter. Very important.” EC’s answer: “Mailed Mr. [943] today Special.”

R2. 7/6/28 EC’s letter to Mr. Bacon: “Yours of the 14th of June came in due time. I’m afraid you are feeling that I’m not cooperating with you as thoroughly as I should, if we are to reach any success through your efforts. I appreciate what you have to say. I only wish I might have the opportunity to talk with you in person so we could get a more thorough understanding between us regarding the intent and purpose of the work in which I am engaged, and to which I have given a great deal of time - practically have given my life to it.

“First, I want to say, this comes at a time when it has been very hard for me to give it the consideration that possibly you desire. While I know from past experience that such opportunities will arise, along with what is actually taking place, I’m just hoping you keep the right spirit, right attitude, and know that I desire to serve humanity first and foremost. And if in that service it brings worldly goods and possessions, I trust I’ll be able to use them. Not that I would desire to have worldly possessions to serve, but that, if in service it brings the worldly goods, I may use that in service also. I think Mr. [943] got the idea when I visited with him last February a year ago. As to whether he has been able to get this over to individuals whom he has interested in the phenomena, I don’t know. First and foremost, Mr. Bacon, it is impossible for me to give you information respecting someone else’s operations, whether it be on an oil well or what not, that you may have the advantage of that information in making your decisions respecting the purchase of lands, stocks, bonds, or what not! Please get the difference in the relation. If you own a lease on property, that’s yours! Then information may possibly be given about that. But prospectively, that you may know what lease to purchase that belongs to the individual who owns the land, or who originally owns the lease - not to you! Possibly this is not good business, from the material viewpoint, but that’s the operative end of this phenomena, and if it isn’t that sentiment that prompts you to boast your lot with this work, then it’s best that you don’t cast your lot with it. Now that’s just being fair and honest. Or, as I said above, if you are able to serve, and through that service worldly goods come, that is the right road. Not that you must have worldly goods to serve; for, as was said of old, ‘Use that thou hast in hand! and in your own hands it will multiply - some sixtyfold, some forty, some an hundred.’

“Information was given respecting the Louisiana field in two readings that have been sent Mr. [943], and I’m in hopes they have been worth while to you.”

R3. 7/6/28 EC’s letter to Mr. [943]: “I don’t want Mr. Thomas and Mr. Bacon to get the wrong idea, and that I am not willing to cooperate with them a hundred percent, but they must know that when they ask the impossible it just can’t be done! In the first place, just at this time I’m awfully busy with the building Cayce Hospital]. This work is going on. I’m the chairman of the committee looking after it. Naturally, this having been my dream and hope for years and years, I want to see every lick of work that’s done on it if possible, and it requires - from all physical standpoints, possibly - the whole of my mind; yet I realize - and in realizing know - that I must give the nominal amount of work and time to those seeking information through these sources. As I suggested in my last letter and wire, I cannot give information respecting somebody else’s proposition for any individual, or a group of individuals, or even for myself to benefit from by having foreknowledge of what’s coming about.”

R4. 7/13/28 Mr. [943]‘s letter: “Your letter of recent date with reference to how Bacon and Thomas might feel regarding information which they have been unable to obtain which does not conform to your policy, I desire to make it very plain to you, - Mr. Cayce, that I have tried to explain to them the way you feel about trying to obtain information that does not directly concern the one seeking the information. It is hard for their minds to grasp the ideals and comprehend the scope of your life’s work. They in all probability feel that they ought to be able to obtain this information, but we have fulfilled as far as our conscience goes our obligation to them as far as it is humanly possible to fulfil - and that is saying much! If there is any doubt in their minds as to your sincerity in the matter, I feel that time will show them their error in this conclusion.”

R5. 7/15/28 Mr. Bacon’s letter indicates he feels Mr. [943] has not given him the complete information as it came through the reading:

“Yes, I have thought for some time that I did not have the cooperation in my work from you or Mr. [943] because I know that the information I received from Mr. [943] was not all your reading on questions that were asked of you. My work here on the geology of surface and sub-surface has proved up to me that your information I had on oil to be found in Tp. 21-N-R 6 east was possible. I know or I believe that oil will be found here…”

B1. 6/22/28 Mr. [943]‘s wire: “Can you give reading on well now being drilled in Section 15 Township 22 North, Range 7 East, Morehouse Parish, Louisiana, giving depth production will be reached and quantity and general information on well.” [$20 wired.]

B2. 6/23/28 EC’s letter to Mr. [943]: “I think I understood the situation with Mr. Bacon, but of course didn’t want to do anything without it coming through you in the proper way. I certainly trust we may be of service to him. I believe, truly, you are asking for the wrong information when you ask about another man’s well. So, when we get the information, don’t expect that it’s going to tell you what is the other man’s property, or the other man’s information, for you to use and benefit by. It won’t do it! It will give you that information that, if you apply, will be beneficial - but it won’t give you information that is somebody else’s property, and which in common parlance is ‘their stock in trade.’ It won’t give you the advantage of the other fellow.”

B3. 6/30/28 Mr. [943]‘s letter: “With reference to the reading on the La. well, on second thought, I would not have asked you for the information on it because I feel the same as you do about obtaining information concerning a proposition that we have no direct interest in. If you have not given the reading before you receive this letter, I hope that you will not give it as I am unable to figure where we will be greatly benefitted by the information given. Bacon is not in a position to buy leases and would perhaps use the information in a way that would not be acceptable to us. I believe that Bacon means right but he goes too far and is not entirely dependable as I have found out. We have tried to help him and have given him all the information that he needs in and around the property which he owned at first and the property acquired since he has been there.”
