1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions that may be asked:

2. EC: Yes.

3. To bring the ease as required, better that more of the applications as are being done be kept in accord with the directions those attending are ministering.

5. Keep hold on TRUTH!

6. (Q) Is everything being done that can be done to make it easier for her? (A) As has been indicated, there must gradually be more of that as will relieve the physical disturbance.

7. (Q) Are the light treatments, enemas, etc., and rubs being given properly? (A) Very well.

8. (Q) How long does it appear that she will linger in this suffering condition? (A) This is not to be given.

It is not well that such be even sought for. Has it not been given, again and again, for all - “Thy will, not mine, be done”?

For each soul must gain that even as He in the garden gained; though He were the Son, yet learned He obedience through the things which He suffered.

“Not my will, O Lord, but Thine be done in and through me” should be the thought, the purpose, the activity of each here.

R1. 1/10/39 GD’s letter to Mrs. [480] (whose mother died recently with cancer):

“I am so sorry to be late in mailing the Reading, [480-51] also in writing you. We have been dreadfully upset over the passing of our dear friend and group member, [560]. You remember I wrote to you about her, - she is the one who had cancer of the breast. They operated but it was no use.

“This is another situation which is very hard for us to understand. She has been the leader of our prayer group for seven years, being among the number one group that started out to study this Work with the new Association. All the Readings will say is that she is only meeting self, and that we must learn to say “Thy Will be done.” She and her sister [993] have lived alone since their mother’s death about twenty years ago, and have been inseparable all their lives. It is hard to imagine one without the other. What we have to realize though is that THERE IS NO DEATH! It is the last step to be overcome, and we have been trying to get a realization of it in our lesson on SPIRIT which we’ve been studying for over a year.

“Will you please phone Mrs. [1100]? She will remember [560],

• she was well enough to be at the Congress meetings; but how she has suffered since then! We were all glad when she was released from such a tortured body, for she was conscious to the very last.”

R2. 1/23/39 EC’s letter to sister [993]: “I know there is so little that can be put into words, yet wanted you to know how I feel… I know the earthly sorrow that is yours, the loneliness in part at least, but I know too the strength that you find in the Christ Consciousness. We are all with you in spirit and in love and may the strength of His love keep you just now.”

R3. 3/15/39 See 281-40, Par. 6 referring to [560]‘s passing and the gap in the A.R.E. Prayer Group, yet telling us we should know “she walks with Jesus.”

Like a bird, imprisoned in a cage - Beats wings, vainly ‘gainst unyielding bars; As a timber-wolf at night - Sends his cries, of anguish, to the skies.

Your spirit, too, is just as theirs; In this world of deep black night, Your inner soul seeks gropingly, Ever upward, to the light.

Aspiring to higher nobler things; Seeking always for “the truth;” Ever seeking that divine “Something” - That shall lead the soul to eternal youth!

The day shall dawn soon, when your soul, Unfettered and free, shall rise; Ascend from the level of ignorance and pain, Then triumphantly soar to the skies!
