This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of November, 1930, in accordance with request made by her husband, Mr. [5609] - through Mr. [417].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5610]. Now, we find conditions that are as causes in the disorders produced are as of a secondary nature, and there are disturbances that have become acute in functioning portions of the system, that are considered at times as the disorder, rather than considering the cause - or direct cause of same; and with corrections, as we find, of primary causes, many of the distresses as are apparent in the system will clarify themselves. Such as those that affect the lymph circulation in the soft tissue of the body; such as produce those disorders through the intestinal and organs of the pelvic system. The basis, then, or those conditions as PRODUCE distresses, as we find, have most to do with that condition in the system where drainages of the body are misdirected, and the incoordination of eliminations produces same; so that, in the resultant condition from same, we have functional disorders as make for the other distresses, as are sometimes called the CAUSE - but are merely contributions to the distress, or an effect in the system.

2. These are conditions as we find respecting this body, [5610] we are speaking of:

The disorders from the eliminations in system produce those forces as cause the distress between the eliminations of the alimentary canal, the nominal functioning of the liver, the kidneys, or all of the hepatic circulation, making for the tendency of those creative energies as make for the burning up of the energies of the body; the diffusion in the assimilated forces of the body, that make for recuperation, and the continued nausea as comes from those gastric forces as are seen in the system are of the system attempting to ADJUST itself most to those disorders; this making for the overacidity, making for those pressures in the diaphragm area, as well as on the locomotary centers of the body. THESE, as we find, are the causes.

4. In meeting, then, the needs - we will find that, with the eliminations so set up in the alimentary canal as to prevent the intoxication of the system by the diffusion of poisons being carried through portions of the body; those of the nerve centers themselves as perfectly relaxed as may be done, through the general massage, and with the application of those vibratory forces in the ultra violet as to destroy plasm and enliven OTHER plasm in the system - THESE, as we find, will bring and make for the bettered conditions in the system.

5. In the application of eliminations, not merely producing that of a flushing or an awakening of the system as related to the lymph, as will increase eliminations - but rather that as will remove from the whole system, with those of the colonic cleanses, and an antiseptic through the whole system of the alimentary canal, and stimulation of the ORGANS of the system so that the lymph as disturbs in soft tissues of face, in the lymph circulation, are increased - but the increase will be for the drainages, or those of a better coordinating in the used forces of the body. These, aided WITH that stimuli in the vibratory forces of the light, will bring the betterment, and the other conditions external that have caused - and do cause the distress, will become an ACTIVE force towards BETTERING the conditions in the body. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) How often should the massage and violet ray be given? (A) In the beginning, we would give first the cleansing of the colon and of the organs of the intestinal tract - by the high enema, or irrigation. This should be done at least twice each week - Tuesdays and Thursdays. Then, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, give the massage or manipulation, FOLLOWING same with the ultra violet ray, especially to the solar plexus centers. This should be given at least thirty-eight to forty inches from body, and in the beginning a period of two to three and a half minutes.

7. (Q) Why is sense of hearing being lessened, and what can be done to correct same? (A) This rather from the general debilitation of the system, and of the drying up of the lymph circulation in drainage from sensory system and from the organs of the auditory forces. These, as are as of temperature - and of the disturbance in soft tissue in this portion of body - these will need later some LOCAL application, in throat and head. FIRST begin the general building up of the physical system, and we will find these will be aided. Then, when NECESSARY, we may give that of the SPECIFIC nature for the sensory organism.

8. (Q) Which will be best, for the body to take treatments at home or come to the hospital at Virginia Beach? (A) There will be more of a PROPER COORDINATION were these taken in a place for proper handling of same. These MAY be taken, will they be consistent, in the home - but not as quick response. Better that the FIRST PORTION of same be given in a place prepared FOR same; then later conditions may be applied, when the colonics or the drainages of the system are better established, and only necessary for local or partial general treatment. Two weeks to four weeks in such a place will materially set the body on the road to proper corrective forces for the body.

9. (Q) Any special diet? (A) As would be indicated from those things given, the condition in body bespeaks of an acid state in system, else there would not be the burning up of the mucus membranes of the system. An ALKALIN diet, and one as will STIMULATE especially those of the thyroids of the body, see? More of the iodines and sodas. This may even be given, were it treated from THAT standpoint (though not the better, as we see) intravenously.

Do as we have given, and we will find the bettered conditions for this body, [5610]. We are through for the present.

R1. 11/7/30 Letter: ”…This will acknowledge receipt of report of my reading, and after looking over some [same?] several times, and also aided with explanations by Mr. [417], my husband [5609] and I seemed to have a fair outline of my condition and the treatment of it in your analysis from my case.

“In the event that I were faithful with the treatment, kindly advise whether it could be carried out successfully from my home, and would you submit instructions, giving detailed information regarding the substances used for the high enemas, a list of the diet foods, and how I could arrange to receive the massage and ultra-violet ray treatment.

“If you would be kind enough to favor me with the above information it would be greatly appreciated.

“At the same time, you may forward information concerning the rates, fare, and incidental expenses in connection with the treatment at your institution.

“Upon receipt of this, if the cost is nominal, I may decide to go to you for treatment…”

R2. 11/10/30 EC wrote answering her questions and telling her that if she decided to follow the treatments at home he would suggest that she go to see Dr. Theodore J. Berger:

”…Show him the reading and let him outline your treatments for you. He can do it possibly better than I can by letter, but I believe the REAL way for you to get the proper results is for you to get started at the hospital first…”
