This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of January, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [601], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through telephone request of her daughter, Mrs. [480].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:40 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Detroit, Mich. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: We have the body here, [601]; this we have had before.
-
As we find the acute conditions in the muscular forces - as of lumbago, as of the muscular forces across the upper portions of the hips, through the small of the back, and this tendency for the cold and hot sensations - are a congestion, or after effects of the cold and a little acidity, and a little more cold having been taken.
-
It would be well as we find to cleanse the system - the alimentary canal.
-
First we would take a dose of Milk of Magnesia; tablespoonful.
-
After this has been taken for four or five hours, begin with small doses of Castoria; half a teaspoonful every hour until there is full activity through the alimentary canal.
-
In the meantime we would sponge or massage across the area indicated a mixture of equal portions (tablespoonful each) of Mutton Suet, Camphor and Turpentine (in liquid); then apply HEAT that is from SALT - heavy salt heated.
-
And we will find these will reduce the disturbances and make for much more normal condition.
-
Bathe the feet and lower limbs in hot water or hot mustard water; this also will be most helpful.
-
Keep within. Do not overeat. Have plenty of air in the rooms, but not in drafts.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/18/37 “Rec’d the rdg. which [480] telephoned for and thank you. I had used the heating pad all that day and had some relief but [480] insisted on calling you for a rdg., so I followed all that was suggested and felt very much better after a day or two. For future reference please make a definite question, whenever the time will permit, regarding the difference between the use of heat from an electric pad and that from heated coarse salt. Are the heated properties of salt more beneficial than the heat from an electric pad? and why? This question has been the cause of discussion and you are the only one able to solve it for us.”
R2. 1/30/37 “I am feeling better but will have to expect setbacks due to the menopause. These past 3 wks. have had several severe flows but after a few days it ceases and then returns again. I have been resting and taking things easy but will have to ask you to make an appt. for a ck. physical if this continues as it has. Please let me know what time you can give me so that I can send questions.”
R3. 2/9/37 See 601-19.
