This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 7th day of November, 1924, in accordance with request made by self - [900]. [See questions incorporated in Suggestion.]

Time of Reading Cambridge Hotel, 3:50 P. M. Dayton Time. New York City, N.Y.

1. GC: You will give the physical conditions of this body at the present time, with special reference to the ears, tonsils, trouble with the tooth, acid stomach, constipation, trouble with the feet [flat arches], telling if the doctor’s treatments are correct and how many more are needed.

2. EC: Now we find the conditions in this body very much improved throughout the body, especially those conditions in and about the face, the ear. The throat and tonsils show some congestion. There are other portions of the body that need more attention, especially those in the lower lumbar region and the limbs and the viscera itself; that is, the trunk portion of the body. For the acid condition that comes at times to the body, the diet will control this, with the manipulation, more than any other condition. Not so much of meats but more of those foods that carry the rougher materials; in whole wheat (rolled), bran, prunes, rhubarb, such conditions and such foods should be taken more for the system.

3. Use high enemas of oil (White Russian Oil) for the acid condition in the system. This will alleviate much of the strain, both through mental forces and through the action of blood supply in the system, in the sciatic nerves and the lower lumbar.

4. Manipulations should be given for the condition in feet. Occasionally, the full treatment for the condition in face, antrum. These would only be once in three to five weeks.

5. The food values must be kept closer in the system for definite periods; that is, using whole wheat and gruels, not so much meat except for fowl or fish. More vegetables of all kinds will give this body the better mental forces, the better physical forces, the better development throughout.

6. Condition in teeth we find improved by the correction of trouble in the right and left antrum.

7. Or, we would give as this for this body at present:

8. Take the manipulations twice each week for general condition in intestinal tract and in feet and throat. For the ears once each month.

9. For the acidosis the diet as given, and not too much stimulations through any alcoholic forces with fish, or at ANY time. It makes it bad for the blood supply and for the mental forces.

10. Food values, particularly, of whole wheat, in gruel, brans. Not meats, save as given.

11. Do that. We will bring the better developments for this body, [900].

R1. 11/10/24 Mr. [900] secured a dream interpretation reading for his brother [137]. See 137-6, which apparently in part was in reference to information in 900-10.

R2. 11/13/24 Mr. [900]‘s letter: “Fur has certainly flown since I last saw you. As told in your reading events of a material nature have occurred to change conditions and would make a difference in the lives of members of our firm. The papers tell you just what has happened. Furthermore the lead given me by Grieves has certainly made good. It is up about 25 points and some great developments are expected to be announced regarding this stock any day. I should have made much more than I did on this stock but sold out too soon. We are not exactly making money hand over fist, due to conservative policy of our firm, which was indicated in your reading where you warned that I be sure not to urge any radical changes in the business but keep it in same channels as heretofore, but we have improved our finances and my trading account is in a much more satisfactory condition, a condition also told in an earlier business reading of mine. Really wonderful - only you and I, and possibly [137], would believe these things could be true. Now this brings me to another point. If assistance may be given me in this manner, why can’t some assistance be given to both of us in our contemplated project to publish a paper? Regarding this I should like you to take two very important readings without delay. Please take them at once if possible. Here they are [See 254-15 and 254-16].”

R3. 11/17/24 Mr. [900]‘s letter in which he requested readings on the EC work [254-14, 254-15, 254-16] and on spirit communication [5756-1] and then continued philosophizing re. his interpretation of his own reading 900-10:

”…I’m simply happy - almost to the point of elation over every new conclusion I reach in relation to problems this work brings up & heavens knows there are plenty. For example I was puzzled over that ‘Jesus [900-10] was a man & died a man,’ & again ‘The Son of Man is present.’ Here is how I solved it.

“One night last week I went out on a wild party. Lying on the couch afterwards & thinking it over I wondered, why I couldn’t - didn’t choose the right, why help was not afforded me to choose the right, why somehow it was so hard to be good. How could I do it, what help could I get? While I was thinking & pondering these things about myself I played with two pieces of wire that I had picked up somewhere & was unconsciously twisting around in my fingers. It suddenly struck me that I had been fooling with the two wires & I look down to find that I had twisted the wires into a perfect cross such as Jesus was placed upon when crucified. Now I’m not trying to hand out to you the fact that some occult force impelled me to twist those wires into such a cross, although on word of honor I knew not what I was shaping or didn’t have any intent to shape anything, but the important point is that gazing at that cross the solution & answers to the whole thing came to me. As stated in your reading Jesus was perfect, and a man. Therefore we also flesh & blood men may choose to do right & model after him. He is our model, our guide, our example, our illustration so to speak, of the development man as MAN can reach. Here is the help I was asking for. Here is a man who died to save souls & their have been others who have died to save souls, though they had not reached the perfection he did. Here are your two lines of reasoning mapped out according to form of logic I studied in college:

“THEOLOGICAL REASONING

I. Jesus Christ is a God, born of the virgin. A. Therefore Jesus Christ was perfect in all & died to save our souls.

1. Therefore, altho we nor may any man ever hope to attain His perfection we should pray to Him to be saved.
2. We are weak sinful humans & must pray that He show us special dispensation & plead to God for the saving of our souls. Our only hope then, is that the God Jesus, will save us from the punishment, the Hell our sins will lead us into in manner above stated.

“ANOTHER VERSION

I. Jesus was a man; but had reached the perfect stage of development toward which we are all striving & must eventually reach before we return to our Maker. A. His choice to exercise his will to do right only, caused His being killed. He died in the cause of right

• righteousness - for an idea & ideal.

1. Therefore He is a Savior - a savior of souls for in living the perfect life & dying rather than alter His choice to live the perfect life, He furnished the means by which we may all study his life, learn His teachings & so model after Him as to save our souls from the RESULTS of wrong or retarding development brought about by the choice of evil rather than good.

2. We may strive, we may hope to live as Jesus did, & thereby develop in the right direction.

3. Other men have been great brokers for example. I may not be as able, attain the greatness they attained, but I may learn from them, pattern after them & in accordance with my own abilities & inclinations also be a successful broker - Jesus made a success of his life for He chose to do right & attained perfection. Jesus did it & was a Man. I am a Man. Therefore I too may do it. Therefore it is possible for me a man to do it.

4. There it is up to me, to my will, whether like Jesus I will choose good instead of evil, & come closer to God & finally develop to the extent where I am fitted to return to Him. Jesus shows me the way - how I a man may do as He did. It is up to me - shall I follow the foot steps of Jesus & steer my course towards God, or shall I choose evil & shut out God’s spirit, drifting ever further away from Him.

“In other words I might change a Biblical phrase to read:

“Jesus chose to do right & succeeded. ‘Go thou and Choose to do likewise.’

“Since Jesus was a Man we all have the chance to succeed as He did, but the important thing is for we to CHOOSE to learn His life, His teachings & CHOOSE to live a life after Jesus our Model Man & the result will take care of itself. I’m sorry if I shock your religious teachings but I must speak the truth as I see it & it is for each of us to choose to think & act as our conscience & the will dictate. I believe Man is never lost, never too sinful, never too far gone, to turn in to the life of Jesus & say: ‘Why He did it - I’m going to leave my sins behind me & try Jesus’ way. I’ll try to be good & choose the right as Jesus explained the ‘right’ in his teachings & lived the ‘right’ in his life.’ When a man makes that choice he is saved, for he turns in his tracks away from God to the right direction towards God.

“Be a good boy. Choose to do Right. Be Upright. Stay close to your Mother. Walk in the right Channels, and God will Bless you & bring you closer to Him.

“How shall I choose to do Right! To be Upright? To Walk in the Right Channels?

“Learn how Jesus did it before me, & choose to do likewise. The important thing is the CHOICE the WILL to do right. The development that follows will in time bring your Will to be one with God & your soul will return to Him, even as did the mind & soul of Jesus.

“I can’t say if I’ve made this clear to you, but it is to me. It brings hope, cheer, happiness to me. I may pray to God for help, & study the life-teachings of Jesus for practical guidance on earth. Since I am happier in this belief & a better man for it, I don’t care who or what cult, or what ism or what religion agrees or disagrees with me. Life is great, it is wonderful, & Good is worth the doing. We can live a life of righteousness. Man may choose good from evil. To err is a human possibility, a human alternative not a necessity. Jesus proved it. To choose the right, to live a good life is worth while. Jesus proved it, for in choosing right his Will because One with God & His soul returned to its Maker.

“‘We are through for the present.’”
