This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at Phillips Hotel, Room 115, Dayton, Ohio, this 23rd day of March, 1924, in accordance with request made by parents, Mrs. [2415] and Mr. [4825], through Mr. [287], her uncle.

1. EC: Now, the conditions we find are quite different from those we had before. The conditions at the present time, while serious, yet have passed the most serious part, and with the correct attention, and with that which will keep the lungs from falling, and from congestion further in bronchials and in the throat, will prevent any further inroads of that condition at the present time. The general resistance in the system is not exhausted, though much of the reserve energy has been burned up; yet with the renewed forces we will find we will bring relief to the body.

2. First, we would keep in the air, or in that as breathed by the body, those properties, equal parts, Creosote and White Pine in gallon to two gallons of water, and keep boiling with these fumes escaping in the room. We would apply to the brachial forces, that is, between the shoulders, those of a poultice of Leek and Onions. This of course should be heated until these will give off that healing force. These should be applied direct to the body, and the cover over this to protect from the clothing. This is necessary to be changed, though not enough to give cold, or by too much expenditure of strength by handling of body. Also place this same character of poultice on the throat at the pit of throat, that the breath may be easier.

3. For the diet this strength should be increased by egg (raw) and milk, with sufficient Spirits of Frumenti to cook each. This should be fed a spoonful every few hours.

4. Do this. Keep for the intestinal tract those properties of elm in the water that the congestion may not be carried in the intestinal tract. This should be kept cool, not hot, or not too cool. Do this. We will find these will give to this force and meet necessary resistance to overcome, [948].

5. (Q) Are both lungs affected, or just one? (A) Both are involved, the left more than the right at the present time, you see.

R5. 6/21/72 Mrs. [948]‘s son requested copies of both rdgs., 948-2 & 948-3, saying: “My mother [948] was cured of polio at age 6 yrs. by following the prescribed procedure given in a rdg. in about 1913.”
